Uasin Gishu Senator Isaac Melly Under Fire After Being Accused Of Hiring Goons Who Attacked University of Eldoret Vice Chancellor
The University of Eldoret has been in the limelight lately thanks to a series of incidents that have happened in the former branch of Moi University.
The latest incident that can only be termed as ugly is the storming of the institution of higher learning by Uasin Gishu Senator Isaac Melly, flanked by a section of students and community members to demand that locals be employed in the institution.
The senator accused the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Teresia Akenga of employing people from outside the community where the university is located, something that the VC denied saying the senator was trying to inject tribalism into the institution.
And days after police beat up the senator, his body guard and those who accompanied himas he stormed the institution, Prof. Akenga was attacked by goons last evening, goons believed to have been directed by the Senator.
The goons stormed her Eldoret home and attacked her at night.
Senator Melly has been accused of organizing the attacks in revenge to what happened to his contingent when they stormed the institution.
Among those strongly accusing the senator include Kakamega Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale who has called Melly a Senator of doom following what he believes is an unjustified attack on a lday whose only mistake is giving everyone a chance at Chepkoilel.
