Victor Wanyama Causes Controversy with His Latest Outfit…Even Dennis Oliech’s Skirt Was Not This Controversial (Photo)
In 2012, Dennis “the menace” Oliech stepped out in a maxi skirt for the July 2012 edition of Blankets and wine. His fashion statement was lost to Kenyans who were baffled by this skirt-wearing man and soon he was the talk of the town.
However this fashion statement cannot beat what Victor Wanyama wore , a picture of the Southampton Midfielder surfaced recently of him rocking a T-Shirt that bore the Confederate Flag at the front.
A flag that has for a longtime represented racism, many pre-Civil War injustices, murderous narrow-mindedness ,slavery and white supremacy in America especially in the South. It is also used by Skinheads and neo-Nazis in Germany after the Swastika was banned.
A flag that Dylann Roof, the 21-year-old white man who killed 14 black people in Charleston S. Carolina had posed with in photos posted on a white supremacist website.

So you can now see why Victor Wanyama is getting some flack for this photo.

Rapper K-Nel set it off with this:
The “WARTHOG AWARD” of the Month goes to Kenya’s Professional soccer player, Victor Wanyama: Just wondering how many Avocados I should give this Ninja here. 26 or 33 + maybe 6 Chickens? Seriously Victor? What you gonna wear next? Hitler’s Nazi Swastika sign? You know you wearing the USA Confederate flag whose symbolism is “SLAVERY/RACISM”. Wanyama here in America people are fighting to have the flag removed from it’s history & you are busy wearing it,smiling while giving handshakes. *Uluhya na unga ya Posho Mill itakumaliza lol*
While other Social media users said this:
JaysonThe GreatLarry Hoover: Hata mimi sikua najua, sikuzaliwa enzi za hitler neither did i study American history. Wewe ndie mshamba unaleta enzi zenu kwa hii modern era
Maureen Obayi: Don’t like the part of making it seem like he wearing the t-shirt coz he is a Luhya. That to me is also being ignorant
Kibe Ugi: He most probably doesn’t even know what the flag stands for. Education is important.
Nour Shad: Seriously…..just shows how wanyama is ignorant
Martin Nderu: Pegineko hajuieko , mpeeko kuku tatu na makorofia
Onyango Charles: Hii ndio ubaya yetu sisi wakenya…..what do you gain by posting negativity….why cant we focus on educating ourselves and our fellow countrymen?…..Those of you who have had the opportunity to learn about the confederate flag and the history behind it need to share that knowledge with others so we do not have embarassing situations like this one…..what good does it do to bash and put Victor Wanyama on blast on facebook?…….Fact is none of you like him were born knowing the history behind the confederate flag……..If i personally knew how to get hold of him..i would address it with him offline and let him know and have him dig up the information for himself….Let us learn to teach each other!!…..His status in the society should be an opportunity we can use to educate others and spread the knowledge!!
Tee TooBlessed Mati: I strongly think you should keep your warthog award… Has the dude ever been to the U.S. Does he know anything about what the flag stands for. If you were in your kiambu town tell me what you would have known about this flag. Dude bought a shirt coz he liked it or bla bla bla… Let’s stop running our fingers for no reasons.
I normally run into folks wearing t-shirts with “Texaco” and “RaceTrac” logos on them – if only they knew that those were my work uniforms many many years ago …. so this wanyama guy probably has no idea what the heck he’s wearing – the guy simply knows soccer.
In Wanyama’s defense though, I don’t think her really understood what the flag stands for , maybe he just saw a pretty tee with cute white stars and stripes.
