Violent Riots At KICC As Tarrus Riley & Alpha Blondy Fail To Perform!(VIDEO+PHOTOS)
Yesterday was supposed to be the day of the big Tarrus Riley and Alpha Blondy concert.
Revellers had been told that the performances would begin at 11pm, and when that time came, they were patient. Come 12midnight, with no Tarrus, and people began to look around with lingering doubt. Come 1am, questions started being asked by visibly irked concert goers. Come 2am, and the chants began: “We want Tarrus! We want Tarrus!”
THEN
at 3am, the soda cans began to fly on stage. The Big Tunes promoters(who are the ones who organised the show), tried to tell the people to calm down to no avail. Here is a video of that part of the night:

3.30 am, the people then switched to glass bottles which started raining down on the stage. The Ghetto Radio MCs wasted no time and were the first ones to leave the stage. Team Ghafla’s suspicions were aroused when they headed straight for the exits.
The Big Tunes promoters braved the glass bottles for a while until they started being aimed directly at them. Then they also fled and cut the music off! At this point, it was obvious that there would be no Tarrus Riley, or Alpha Blondy, and the rioting began. First victim, the DJ booth. The DJs were hounded out of their tent, and everything in the tent was destroyed. (By the way, the rioters were also targeting people with professional cameras, so I had to use my IDEOT phone to take snaps. Forgive the quality)
That’s the DJ tent going down
Then the rioters started shouting “POMBE, POMBE!” and headed straight for the food and liquor tents, where they looted crates upon crates of beer and spirits

Next, the rioters went for the chairs, which they began to break as they lamented the expensive fees they paid for the tickets(they were going for up to 5,000 bob a piece)

The craziest part of it all was that the guards and bouncers who were there were simply looking on as the rioters went nuts. My investigations revealed that they kind of understood the angst of the attendees, who had paid through the nose for a concert that they didn’t receive, and that’s why they chose to stand back.
