Waliovuma! Remember Vinnie Banton Popularly Of Githurai Hit? This Is What The Father Of Three Now Does (Photos)
He dominated headlines during his heydays, but the spotlight faded out on Vinnie Banton almost as fast as it illuminated him.
Last Friday night, Ghafla! caught up with Kenya’s pioneer ragga artist, Vinnie Banton, to shed light on his whereabouts.
Most of you remember him from the hit ‘Githurai’ featuring Mr Googz and Mr. Lenny. The song may be streaked with gray hair but it’s still a club banger.
Vinnie Banton is no longer a music heavyweight, his seemingly endless sabbatical has rendered him a little rusty for the industry.
The onetime music sensation is still in the game but not as a performing artist, Vinnie is now a DJ, regular on the spinning decks at Club Mchana next to Prestige Mall on Ngong Road.
Vinnie warmed up to Ghafla! when we paid him a visit at his crib in Nyayo Embakasi, yes, he is still living that kind of life many yearn for.
The now father of three has been carefully planning for a comeback, you will be hearing his voice on the airwaves sometimes in August this year.
“I have always wanted to make a comeback in music but it has never been easy. You know many have tried going back to music but they have failed. Comebacks require consistency in releasing songs so as to gain relevance and that’s what I have been doing.” Vinnie explained.
He says he has stacked up a number of songs which will be his vehicle back to limelight. Vinnie has his own studio in his house, he has been recording songs for upcoming artists.
Clearly music is still his passion, he lives, breaths and talks music, even his daily bread comes from music.
Asked why he took a break from music when his career was just taking off, Vinnie explained he got hitched and his family became his number one priority.
