Well Wishers Raise Over 13.5 Million Kshs In Solidarity With Gay Couple Who Were Severely Burnt After Homophobic Step-Father Poured Boiling Water On Them
On February 12, 2016 gay couple, Marquez Tolbert and Anthony Gooden were doused with a pot of boiling hot water while they lay sleeping.
The attacker was none other than the boyfriend to Gooden’s mum Kim Foster. The reason for this unwarranted and shocking attack was simply because of who Marquez had chosen to love.
Apparently in Blackwell’s sick mind Marquez and Gooden’s relationship was unnatural and they needed to be taught a lesson. After burning them, their unremorseful attacker kicked them out of the house forcing them to seek help from outsiders.

The attacker has since been charged with aggravated battery.
Speaking to the media recently, Gooden who is still recovering from the shocking attack said “It still hurt my family. It still hurt me. Thinking about it. I just feel like that was real hateful. You didn’t have to do that to nobody. You could have walked out the door. Could’ve walked down the street. Could have done anything. To pour hot water on us? That’s evil….Yeah I hate looking in the mirror. But it’s healing. It’s healing everyday now. Sometimes when I think about (it), I get angry. But I also know how to pray and ask God to release that anger and bring me happiness.”
As the couple recovers both physically and psychologically from this atrocious attack, people all over the world are showing support for them and the couple has now gotten over 13.5 Million Kshs (136,154 dollars) in total for their medical fund.
