This time round, Nakumatt attracted limelight after they publicly declared they were riding scandal-rich Maggi Noodles off their selves.
This new revelation came after Nestle’s Maggi Noodles were banned in India.
India’s food safety regulator banned Maggi Noodles after it was discovered it contained high levels of lead.
Even though Nestle maintained the noodles are safe for human consumption, Nakumatt announced it was withdrawing the noodles from its stores in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan.
Mr John Abongs from Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) had earlier issued a ‘verbal recall’ of the ‘hazardous’ products.
