Why On Earth Would Kenya Airways Betray Us Like This?
This is not the first time that Kenya Airways has found itself on the receiving end. The biggest airline in Africa that boasts as being the “pride of Africa” is paradoxically the proverbial adage “preach water but take wine”
Well Majority of Kenyans from across the divide have been infuriated at what they have termed as wrong representation of the African people when the Kenya Airways used a white model to sell the idea that they deliver cargo all over the world.
Does it mean that white babe on the billboard is the representation of what is aesthetically African? In a bid to attract the western market to use its Cargo delivery services, Kenya Airways has betrayed its maxim “The Pride of Africa”

This in exalted circles might also be considered as a veiled form of racism with hints of imperialism laced all over, if the western markets start dictating what “The Pride Of Africa” should be, then the rain has started beating us.

Proudly Kenyan… Indeed
They can however argue that the billboard was a representation of their ability to move across the borders of Africa “delivering cargo” If this is so then, why not use a black model too? To show the transition?
Or maybe our definition of what is Proudly African is skewed, Maybe Kenya Airways should teach us this new-found wisdom. The wisdom that says representing African people with a White model is actually cool. Should we, for the fear of being branded as “racist” take it passively, and accept misrepresentation of African Heritage subserviently?
