You didn’t see everything on the ‘HaHe’ video. The fight with ‘First Body’, the chase, everything. FarknOse got us the whole footage and I thought I would share it with you. This guy is a real bad a**.

Kimya just came in ‘fresh’ with Abbas
Remember Cool and the Gang’s hottest track ‘Fresh’? Well, it just got better. Just like Jay Z and kanye West, Kimya took an old classic tune and turned it into a fresh hit. Mad lyrics and the works. ‘Fresh’ was just released today. You know what’s even better about this track?… Abbas Kubaff is in it.
Hip Hop is back. For all those that believed it’s dead, it was just taking a rest. I love the effect on the beat at the beginning of the track that later explodes to life. Kimya is a fluent and eloquent rapper. So is Abbas. When they collaborate, it’s just a series of punchlines and mad rhymes. Both fast on the mic, kimya and Abbas deliver this track from the 80s all the way to the present.
The video doesn’t exist yet but we’ll be sure to let you know if there’s any progress. For now, just feel this classic Hip Hop tune. You won’t be disappointed… you have my word.
Behind the scenes for the ‘Headbang em’ video
Headbengaz Entertainment just got lethal. With their hot track ‘headbang em’ that was done a couple of weeks back, they have just completed the video shoot for the track.
The whole Headbangaz family was at the scene including Kimya, Richeezy, Dirty Damu, Babu, Six-Foot, Mzizi Mbaya, you name them. Plus some beautiful models also at the scene.
The video was shot at Nairobi’s sin city, Westlands and I have to say that it looks good. The video will be released in a few weeks. Meanwhile, have a taste of it.
Latest gospel riddim
Reggae fans should be rejoicing as the talented gospel singer Kanjii Mbugua has dropped his latest hot riddim

There has been a growth for riddim lovers in Kenya and as there is a shortage of gospel riddims and Kanji has come up with the solution, him doing a riddim song.
Kanji’s advice is he who can say this need fear no evil. In all trials, temptations, dangers, persecution, I am yours.

While announcing this the producers also revealed that Grammy nominated American rapper J. Cole is set to perform at the series launch in May this year.

M-Net managing Director Biola Alabi said that the show was built on the idea that, given a chance, anyone can be a star and that’s why they changed the name to Big Brother stargame.

KBC staff expose management’s sexual harrasment
The KBC staff were in Parliament last week and in front of the House Committee, they testified of the mistreatment and favoritism that has been a daily activity at the KBC station. They claimed that the management has disregarded merit in the hiring of staff.
The staff was against the hiring of Walter Mongare (Nyambane) as the KBC radio Manager as they say that he is not a qualified radio communications person and that those under him are even more qualified… OUCH!!!
Harrasment for employment as they say, is now mandatory as women are denied maternity leave and medical cover. The radio programmes manager is said to have sexual relations with the radio presenters from Metro FM and those that do not agree are left out.
The KBC management are yet to be heard. I wonder how they will get themselves out of this one. I still don’t understand how they hired a comedian to run a radio station.

DADDY OWEN ASKS ‘MBONA’?
In line with the promise he made and the encouragement he gave earlier this year, Daddy Owen is walking the talk and going ahead with his Mbona Campaign.
The campaign, which aims to empower the less privileged of the society, is the brainchild of Owen Mwatia, also known as ‘Papa Fololo’. On his Facebook page he wrote early this year:
‘And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV)
Make it your ambition to help the less fortunate ths yeah #MBONA CAMPAIGN… B+”
The 2010 MAMA award winner shot a promotional video for the campaign last night and should release it within at least the next couple of weeks.
Daddy Owen joins the likes of other Kenyan gospel artistes Holy Dave and Juliani, who are giving back to the community.
Welo of Kagomaz is now acting
American musicians are popularly known for combining music with acting i.e the late Tupac, Beyonce, DMX and 50 Cent among others but here in Kenya we are also not left behind as
Hamza Omar popularly known as Welo of the Kagomaz group is also an actor.
He is acting as Zolo in NTV’s hottest soap opera Mali. He has proved that not only is he musically talented but also in acting.
This soap opera has made Kenyan ladies shift their loyalty from Mexican soaps to Kenyan’s. This a good indicator to the film industry.
Slim G, “That guy stole my song”
Kenyan singer Slim G of Elete Entertainment has not been happy lately. He did a song in the year 2010 titled ‘Najma’ that received acknowledgement from last year till date.
He is now accusing Tanzanian singer Belle 9 of stealing the song.
Slim G claims that Belle 9 took the melody, chorus and even lyrics of his song. If true, seems to me that this Belle 9 guy seriously lucks creativity. Slim G told sources that Belle 9 is selling the song as his own in the Bongo streets and feels like a real musician.
Slim G threatens to involve the Music Copyright Society of Kenya if Belle 9 doesn’t do the necessary.

THEY WANT US TO PARTY IN THE DARK…
A United States NGO wants you to throw a party…wait for it… in the DARK! West Virginia based New Vision for Renewable Energy want to bring about change, and help for over 1.5 billion people across the globe who sleep in darkness.
Here’s more information about the organization and what they are planning to do:
Did you know that there are 1.6 billion people on this earth living in darkness every night? Without any type of access to electricity or light? That’s almost one fourth of humanity. Here’s the reality. They don’t have to keep living in darkness. And you can be a part of making this happen.
On March 31st, you have the opportunity to bring light to the darkness. We are throwing house parties all over the United States and around the world (INCLUDING KENYA). People are going to gather together on the same night, in churches and homes, in yoga studios and businesses, anywhere where people can come together that want to make a difference in this world.
And they are going to have a party. But here’s the catch. The party will be in the dark. They will invite their friends. They will throw a party but they will throw it in darkness as we come together with millions of people all over the world.
New Vision needs your help to bring light to those who most need it. We are signing up Ambassadors of Light every day. YOU can make a difference and join us for this cause.
It’s simple. Invite 12-15 of your friends to your home on March 31st for a party. Ask them to bring $10. All you have to do is provide snacks and drinks. We will do everything else. We will provide you with a DVD to show that night. For one hour, you will turn your lights out and light a Candle of Hope for those who live in darkness. For more information, send an email to jbiggs@nvre.org.
Party in the Dark hopes to bring light particularly to Kibera slums which they say is ‘one of the toughest slums in Africa.’ Bringing $10 to a Party In The Dark will bring them a solar powered light that will light their homes all night.

TOP TRENDS: #SOMEONETELLCNN
Social networks were abuzz late Saturday night through Sunday on news of the grenade attacks that rocked Machakos country bus station and left 6 dead and over 60 casualties. The information was splashed across local television stations with glaring red prints of ‘BREAKING NEWS’ followed by subsequent bulletins of how hand held grenades were consecutively thrown at four spots at the busy terminal from (an) occupant(s) of a Probox that hastily fled the scene there after.
As the news reached global networks, global news station CNN in turn headlined the story with a bold headline that featured the Kenyan flag, which read: VIOLENCE IN KENYA (as pictured above).
This did not seem to go down well with a cross section of Kenyans on social networks as they started a trending topic titled #SomeoneTellCNN followed by a plethora of advice.

CNN regional representative and reporter David McKenzie went ahead and apologized on his twitter page saying the reporting was ‘accurate’ but ‘the banner used was not’.
Al Jazeera also reported that ‘it appears it was not just a series of blasts, people were also sprayed with bullets.’
Someone actually did go ahead and CALL CNN, and this is how the conversation went (see video below)
WHAT IS THE REASON BEHIND KENYA’S FAILURE TO HOST CELEBRATED INTERNAIONAL ARTISTES?
What do country’s like Uganda and South Africa do in order to bring celebrated international artiste to their countries?
Kenya call’s it self an entertainment power house in East Africa but its only on papers , practically we are not as our neighbors, Uganda and Tanzania have been hosting international renowned artistes like Jay z, R Kelly, Akon and Mos Def among others.
We have been hearing complains that our local event promoters and organizers do not pay the musicians and concerts are cancelled without prior notice to the concerned people giving this business venture a bad reputation.
Nowadays we are forced to bring Jamaican artiste as their fee is not that high compared to the Americans but also our event organizers have failed us because they do not upheld professionalism as they don’t abide by the contract agreement entered between them and artiste’s managers.
I hope our event organizers will borrow a leaf from our neighbors from Museveni land or even the land of Kikwete.
This Goes Straight to Kantedda
As one of his biggest fans, a fan that has memorised most of his lyrics and know all his songs, I sincerely have to say… “Wake up Kantedda”. We miss the lyrical prowesness that comes out of his mouth when infront of a mic and in the presence of a good beat/instrumental.
Everyone was wondering where he disappeared to, till recently when he was featured in Halaiki Family’s ‘halali mziki’ where we got to listen to his infectious flow once again.
But then after that he went back to the dark hole. Come on Kantai, grace the Kenyan music industry once again. Just imagine the tracks he would create with the likes of Camp Mulla, Octopizzo and the new and revised Bamzigi. pure heat, that’s what it would be.
PREZZO AND REDSAN’S ‘SEMA NAO’…
The two who were long ago enemies and could not stand the sight or voice of each other, are now friends. They even recently collaborated to give us this track ‘sema nao’ which is still circulating.
Despite the reunion and the new song, some of the fans have been airing complaints all over about their new song. That it’s not as they expected. Have you heard it yourself?
Listen to it and give us your feedback. Is the track worth the reunion?
Nyambane’s transformation of Metro FM to Venus… what’s your take?
Not so long ago (some few months back), Kenya’s most loved reggae station, Metro FM was shut down and a new station immediatly replaced it. venus FM, which plays R&B and Soul, took over the frequency.
This issue has since then brought up wranggles here and there. KBC staff last month went on a strike complaining about the management of the station (Venus FM). Since Metro went down, thousands of fans all over Kenya have been complaining both on air and on social media.
What is your honest opinion on this transformation?

AGAINST ALL ODDS, WAKABURA JOSEPH STILL MADE IT IN LIFE
Wakabura Joseph has come a long way from a humble farm worker to a celebrated musician. He was the fifth born in a family of seven children. Raised by a single mother who was forced to do manual job in order to feed them.
Wakabura was forced to drop out of school after clearing his class eight exams and started doing farm work in order to support her mother.
He started composing music when he was still in class six and later a friend introduced him to a recording label where he recorded his first album ‘ndigacoka kurira’ (I will never cry again) but he was forced to redo the recording in a different studio as it was of low quality. Gospel sensation singer Elijah Miller took him to the new studio where his album was re-done. The recording was of a higher quality and the media stations started playing his songs.
He’s biggest break thru was when he released the album `githuke ni githunduku’ (the tree stump has burden). He says that he sells 500 copies of this album a day. It‘s among the most downloaded gospel skiza tune.
Wakabura is not satisfied with music alone as he has ventured into other businesses. He owns a music store and a recording studio. He distributes his own music in order to prevent piracy which is what eats our local artistes.
Wakabura agrees that music made him who he is as he has bought land for his mother and employed two of his brothers.
From a farm worker to a celebrated musician, this man has defied all odds.

LET’S SAY NO TO DRUGS AS KENYANS
We lost the king of pop just the other day and now it’s the queen of pop and they all succumb to the same problem and that is drugs.
What I will urge our Kenyan musician is not to involve themselves into this vice as it doesn’t make them famous or cool as people say.theipinionsjournal.com
We have seen our own musicians, TV and radio presenters going to rehab because of drugs and alcohol addiction. We should try and ask them the hardship they under went in order to clean themselves.
It’s not a good experience and no one would want even to their worst’s enemy to undergo that experience.
Media personalities like Edward Kwach and Tom Mboya can testify about alcohol addiction and its effects to someone’s well-being.
Musician Jaguar and fellow rapper Bamzigi are trying to help drug addicts in order to help them stay clean and be able to better their lives. Let’s make Kenya a drug free zone. Let’s be people who learn from other peoples mistake.
The Man Behind the Akorino Swag
He is renowned for being the first mukurino artiste to break into mainstream music. Allan Aaron brought his own unique style where he has fused a brand of Akorino gospel music and merged with various contemporary styles.
His hit song ‘We mutheru’’propelled him to fame as it enjoyed massive air play throughout gospel media houses and Allan credit this to Kkrew member Njugush for his massive support.
Allan Aaron has featured in Daddy Owen’s song `korero’ which was also a big tune to the extend of barging five Groove awards in 2010.
His latest single is called `oka jesu’which also topped the gospel charts. He has already established himself as a force to reckon with in the music industry.
The Life of Kenyan Hip Hop
Kenyan hip hop has become very popular among local youths. Kenyan hip hop is mostly a mixture of English and Swahili and a bit of tribal language.
We have embraced hip hop and made it our own since it began in early 90s. Journalist Jimmy Gathu is the pioneer of rap on the Kenyan scene with his hit song `look, think and stay alive’ released in 1991.
The major commercial hip hop hit was by Hardstone titled ùhiki’ which was released in 1996. Later the popular hip hop pioneer Kalamashaka released their hit single `tafsiri hii’followed by K-South hit single `nyabaga kodo gakwa’.
After this revolutionary artiste like Poxy Presha, Gidi Gidi and Maji Maji emerged in the late 90s and since then we can boost of having very many talented rappers in the country.
Who is the richest artiste in Kenya?
This is a tough one. I mean really, where do I even start? Some of them just landed themselves huge endorsement deals that have fattened their wallets. Others just came up and they look like they already have the money, so they are just here for fame and fun. Others unfortunately, sell very little and are just termed ‘huslers’ or as they prefer, ‘underground artistes’. Whichever they are, fact is that there is money in this music industry. It’s just a little hard to reach it.
I know a couple of artistes who have sreatched themselves to extra miles to get that mulla. One of them is Juliani. Now rolling in with a Mac, he has achieved most of his dreams and is still streatching further. Success has no limit or limitations, and he has prooved it to be true.
Rufftone and brother Daddy Owen are also living large. Rumour has it that Daddy Owen is to purchase, if not yet purchased, an Escalade just like Donald Mariga.
I am not sure about Prezzo but since he is the ‘King of Bling’, I think he deserves to fall under this category of rich Kenyan artistes. Nameless, if you didn’t know, has real estate investments and is living quite comfortable with his wife Wahu who also brings in heavy cash.
I cannot forget Jaguar who owns multiple businesses, among them, a garage, security farm and a chain of taxis(JagsCabs).
The list is endless as the money piles up higher everyday in these artistes’ bank accounts. Watch out for more headlines from them.
Reporter Robert Nagila Quits NTV for greener pastures
It seems we are now exporting our media expertise to China as China Central Television (CCTV) has been poaching the best media talents we have in our country.
NTV reporter Robert Nagila has joined the likes of Terryanne Chebet, Beatrice Marshall (Senior Editor for African news), Robert Soi (Africa’s news editor) and others who joined the China based station CCTV.
After joining CCTV last week, the talented reporter has already done a feature on Lamu and this shows that he is already settled in his new position.
Let’s hope this poaching will not affect the quality of our news as we are losing the best in our media industry.

Kenya’s new praise song
He has risen through the music ranks from a back up singer to an established musician and now Prof has dropped a new single
`Kenyan’ featuring Calif records sensational artiste Mejja and K-Tisa.
The video shows how Kenyans work very hard to earn a living regardless of their social class and this makes you feel proud of being a Kenyan.
I always say that rapper Mejja is destined for greater heights and he did not disappoint in this song. He brought the humour to this song and giving it the much needed originality.
Am proud to be a Kenyan, well done Prof, Mejja and K-Tisa for reminding us why we should be proud of our own country.

Why Kenyan Artists Need to Go Mobile!
Just a Band and Sauti Sol will be representing Kenya in HUGE way at the South by South West Festival (SXSW) this month in Austin, Texas at an event that brings together over 2,000 bands from a cross the globe.
All the performers at the festival will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with other artistes like themselves, but most importantly be able to grab the attention of music executives, record label reps and most of all, new fans!
Say for instance you were to perform at a showcase, festival or event… your potential fans would immediately look up more of you music or try to find out more information about you. what if your website isn’t mobile compatible…then what?
In this modern and fast paced globe, you cannot afford to lose new fans as you seek to grow your brand. Reach out to them and become more accessible by ensuring your music and info gets to them at their convenience.
For instance if I were to spot artiste X at the Kenya Music Week, I listen to a sample and like what I hear, then pop out my smart phone and google artiste X. The results show me the website and I click on it but constantly get frustrated that the page won’t load on a mobile. Then I search for music on say Sound Cloud and the format is all wrong…on to the next one! Get the drift?
The other plus is not to keep out dated information on your website or fan page…ensure your updates are constant and that you are in touch with your fans. Constantly strive to deliver new music and remember that you’re not just broadcasting to a Kenyan audience anymore, but competing globally.
Just A Band’s new controversial video
This group released the hit single, `hahe’ that got massive air play and now they have released another seriously brand new controversial video.
Just A Band’s new video is titled `can I be forgiven?’ Part 1 which is abridge from their second art exhibition, `kudishnyao’ (which is a sound kids make on the play ground to represent gunshots).
The video is about complains from a person who is bitter with a lot of things i.e. relationship, tribal issues, the government and even the skin colour.
Hope part 2 of this video will resolve all this issues because if not it will bring alot of critism to the group.
Have a look at the video down here >>>>>.
TOP 20 ENTERTAINMENT WEBSITES IN KENYA
As Kenya’s entertainment scene continues to grow in leaps and bounds, there is an insatiable thirst that develops with it for scoops and behind the scenes information on the music scene, films, events and celebrities with their lifestyles.
Just five years ago, there were very few players in this industry, among them the established newspapers: Daily Nation and the Standard, with their gossip columns alongside Capital FM who launched Capital Digital Media in mid 2008.
Alexa, a powerful online research and statistical website, consistently rank the top websites visited daily in almost every country in the world that has internet access. It is based on this research that we are proud to bring to you the top 20 ranked entertainment websites in Kenya as recently as has been updated.
Interesting to note on this list is the fact that most of the top ranked players are more or less established news and information outlets, including the Star newspaper website and the UK entertainment column of the Huffington post. This shows that as much as Kenyans search for local entertainment news, they are not left out on what goes on in the international scene.
Not to be left out are newer entrants like Ghafla! which just makes it to the top 10, as well as Mombasa 411 which prides itself on being the top entertainment source at the coast.
Also of note is the fact that more and more Kenyans search the web for p***nographic material, which is not surprising as it is a multi billion dollar industry in America alone. The question remains, will this trend continue to grow or is it just a phase in the society?
Kenyans also love media gossip and behind the scenes news as is evidenced by the presence of Jackal Media on the list as well as the increasingly popular Media Madness website. The following list was compiled, in descending order, according to sites that are visited for the primary purpose of getting entertainment news.
The ranking is alongside the number (in brackets) the website ranks on a complete list of sites visited in Kenya, as Google came in top position, followed by Facebook in 3rd and Twitter coming in at 6th.
And the top 20 entertainment contenders are:
1. (4) YouTube

2 (15) Capital FM
3 (32) The Daily Mail
4 (45) The Star
5 (62) You p***n
6 (64) The Internet Movie Database

7 (76) The Huffington Post
8 (80) p***n Hub
9 (82) Jackal News
10 (102) Mashable
11 (124) Ghafla

12 (132) Media Madness
13 (135) Kenya Buzz

14 (138) KenyaMOJA
15 (146) Red Tube
16 (189) Washington Post

17 (210) Mombasa 411

His name is Gafla and has suddenly hit climax
From Blackboy Entertainment, we bring you an artiste with a name almost as sudden as ours. An artiste that prefers the crank genre of music to the rest. We introduce to you Gafla.
Gafla is young and energetic and just like his name, he has just exploded into the music industry from nowhere. He has the track ‘Climax’ to thank for his sudden rise. ‘Climax’ has a crank type of vibe and he puts a good flow to it too.
This is definitely an artiste to watch out for. Check out the video.

The HAHE remix video is out
The ‘HaHe’ track by Just a Band was an instant hit in Kenya and across East Africa. Nonini heard it and felt that he needed to add a little bit of the ‘genge’ flavour on it. He did just that and the fans loved it.
Now, the video is finally hear. It is said to be the shortest music video ever. Shot in less than two hours, Prohabo’s Willie Owusu made it a success (as brief as it is). This was Prohabo and Big Ideas’ first video this year.
