#TeamPrezzo updates

Seems like Prezzo isn’t pulling any punches anymore…

During his recent Diary session Prezzo went in on Barbz whom he feels is has been a bit too uptight.

The Undisputed King of Bling said (and i quote): “Her G-string was on a little too tight before, but now she’s loosened up a bit” in reference of her misunderstanding his compliments towards her aesthetic appeal.

Who knew the Prezident had such witty one liners?

Finally Nonini is a daddy to a bouncing baby boy

Every one was wondering why the Genge Godfather canceled his London show which was schedule to be this Saturday. The only reason he

gave was that he had an emergency which he needed to attend to in Kenya.

Officially we report that Nonini had a good reason to cancel his London show. The Godfather is now a daddy to a bouncing baby boy named Jaden Githara Nakitare.

Wahu is the perfect Kenyan diva

This is a unique rare week because we are celebrating mother’s week, and who is the best female celeb if it’s not singer

Wahu who we need to celebrate for being a perfect example to our upcoming celebrity mothers.

This award winning singer has been able to manage her music career very well since early 2000 up to date. She manages perfectly her music and family life with a lot of ease.

She is married to a fellow celebrity Nameless and they have managed to keep their family issues off the media. We all know that a wife determines a good home, so by virtue of this Wahu is a good wife.

She sang ‘sweet love’, dedicating this song to her beautiful daughter Tomiso, explaining to her how she feels about her and how she changed her life. What a mother, she acknowledges the worth of her child.

I salute and celebrate you Wahu for being a good mother, a wife and at the same time a perfect entertainer.

Happy Mother’s week to all mothers

Celebs showing #TeamPrezzo love on twitter

Celebs showing prezzo twitter support Celebs have been busy showing Prezzo as much support as they can through twitter.

Celebrities such as Marcus Olang, Shaffie Weru, Dj Creme have been drumming up support for the King of Bling who is also enjoying support from quarters hitherto outrightly hostile such as Jaguar. Some of the tweets that have gone up in support of our very own are:

TWITTER LOVE FOR PREZZO

It’s all about Octopizzo in the music circles

This year, most of our artistes have been extremely busy in the studios doing what they do best and in the process, keep our heads nodding to good music. I just love the energy and competition that is building up in the Kenyan music industry.

Octopizzo is one of the artistes that has maintained a flow of music production since late last year, and this year, he has been busier than ever. Dropping hits after hits, with new and more out of his genre collaborations in his new tracks.

Muthoni The Drummer Queen is a good example of this. Though worlds apart, these two incredible artistes managed to deliver a track full of punch lines and heavy lyrics titled ‘Vile Inafaa’. Give the track two more weeks in radio circulation and it will find its way through the charts.

He also released the track ‘Bila Mic’ and the video showed us a side of Octopizzo that we hadn’t seen before. He is actually wearing a nice fitted suit, giving the impression of a gentleman… well, I never saw that coming.

And now, his latest track that has just been released though not well spread yet, ‘Hip Hop Paradise’ in which he has collaborated with multi talented Joey Muthengi.

I saw Collo in Octo’s ‘Bila Mic’ video and I can only hope that there is a collaboration somewhere in the corner. I’m loving this consistency.

#TeamPrezzo updates

So, quick update on Prezzo in the BBA House upville…

Prezzo has been involved in an altercation with the South African contestant Barbz because he said she is attractive?! Wait what?! Yup! You heard right!

Apparently Prezzo called her Tyra Banks and Miss SA which in any context is nothing but a compliment but it apparently rubbed the comely lass& South Africans in general the wrong way. They have been hating on the Kenyan lad and have really been tearing into him.

Moving right along, Prezzo’s chances of getting further have apparently increased as a housemate has apparently put themselves up for elimination. That can only be good news for the +254!

And again, keep it patriotic! Support Kenyans& Kenya over everything and everyone else! Even Jaguar is stoicly in #TeamPrezzo!

Jaguar

Marc Brunnel gives us his hustle… straight up!

He has just dropped another reggae track and doesn’t have any plans to stop any time soon. Good thing that he’s music is actually good and has that ‘club banging’ effect (which should be evident in all dancehall music).

So, his latest track ‘The everyday hustle’ was released and proved to be all that he had promised it would be. The song is all about the hustler’s life in the ghetto and all that they have to go through just to get food to eat. Fast paced and hyped up beats, this is just the song to listen to when in the mood to go out.

The video has not yet been shot but the track is available right here. Check it out below.

Nonini cancels his London show

The Genge Godfather gave a sterling performance in Glasgow, Scotland where he performed at the rugby sevens after party.

The rapper was schedule to perform this weekend in London but was forced to cancel the show due to an emergency in Kenya. He didn’t say what the matter was, but what we no it was something serious.

The repreneur hope that all his London fans will understand although he is planning to perform there before the end of this year.

This is his Facebook update

nonini

The Godfather jetted in the country yesterday has apologized to his London fans and promised them that he will be performing there very soon.

Club Click owner arraigned in court for murder

The owner of Club Click which is located along Baricho road was arraigned in court today morning to face

murder charge after he shot a reveler at his club on Monday.

The owner is accused alongside one of the club bouncers. The two were remanded as investigations is still going on.

As reported yesterday, the club owner shot one of the patrons at the bar over a confrontation caused by the loss of a mobile phone. Read more about the story here.

My advice to revelers is to always avoid fights in clubs in order to avoid unnecessary deaths.

We at Ghafla send our deepest condolences to the deceased family

Mrs Wamalwa’s saga a source for the Mali script?

It is said that good art imitates reality& i guess the inverse is true!

COLLAGE

In a bizzarre twist of events that looks like it was scripted by Mali writers, Wamalwa’s widow Ms Alice Muthoni Wamalwa is according to a leading daily being sued for alleged misappropriation of funds by Wamalwa’s children.

The strange thing is that the tv show Mali revolves around a fabulously wealthy family struggling to come to death with the partriarch’s (Mr G. Mali) untimely demise and how to consolidate, protect then grow the family wealth.

Perhaps the script writers will have it easy now as all they’ll have to do is watch the Wamalwa vs Wamalwa court case unfold and simply copy the events out into an entertaining script. Afterall, reality seems to clearly be stranger than fiction and in tinsel town, the absurd sells!

OMG. Gospel music has never been this flashy.

I will start by saying that I absolutely have nothing against Gospel artistes showing off. If they are successful enough to do it, then by all means, entertain us. So, the latest song from the one and only Alemba has a video that will keep your finger on the replay button.

The song ‘I’m Walking’ in which Alemba collaborated with Ugandan artiste Exodus, is yet again another hot gospel dancehall tune. Speaking of collaborations, there has been numerous of them between Ugandan and Kenyan artistes. I’m loving these new partnerships. Anyway, the song is all about making it in life, and in this case, making it in music. Alemba has done just that, and the choreography of the video shows it all.

The planes and vehicles may not necessarily be theirs but to actually rent them (if that’s the case) for a video shoot is not cheap AT ALL. Alemba’s musical future is obviously bright as most of his songs have managed to become hits, and so will this one.

Good music, flashy video and awesome choreography. What more can you ask for?

Check it out.

BBA news: Prezzo and Barbz fight

If you thought flossing is wrong, then Prezzo can’t be right. Prezzo had to tell Goldie that if South African representative Barbz wanted the

$ 300 000, then she should talk nicely and he’ll hook her up.

Barb and our representative Prezzo quarreled last night after Prezzo ‘called her names ‘, of which I don’t think he intended to disrespect her.

Goldie tried to calm Prezzo down after storming out of the house, but Prezzo said,’’ She doesn’t know me, if she pushes me, she’ll see me’’.  Kenya’s king of bling added that words like ’sorry’ and ’I love you’ doesn’t come easy from him thus he won’t apologize.

Barbz complained that Prezzo referred to her as ‘‘miss SA’’ and ‘Tyra Banks’’ which made her feel offended. I guess Prezzo was trying to complement her.

Barbz later said that she has no beef with Prezzo and that she won’t apologize to him. Seems our own has already started showing his true colours.

Man Njoro: Nataka kufanya lap, lege, laga, alafu nitapata mafans.

If you don’t attend Spoken Word events like ‘Wamathai Spoken Word’ and ‘Kwani Open Mic’, then you probably remember Man Njoro from Churchill Live. He is the poet that cracked our ribs with his romantic Kiswahili poem which he did in a Kikuyu accent.

Man Njoro is by far the most original, hilarious and out of this world poet here in Kenya. Who said all poems have to have a serious approach?

Remember these lines? “wakipada matatu za forte forte, wee unapada za fifthe fifthe” and my personal favorite, “nataka kufanya lap, lege, laga, alafu nitapata mafans”. These were supposed to go to the lucky lady on the receiving end (whoever she is). Njoro made it way better when he put these lyrics in a beautiful song collaborated by his good friend, Kamau, who sang the chorus.

The song ‘Man Njoro’ from the album ‘The City Is Mine’ was the soundtrack to the film ‘Valentine ya Njaramba’.

The video itself is hilarious and theatrical and from the look of things, Njoroge may also be an actor if he so chooses to pursue it. A man of many talents indeed. With his Kikuyu accent and poetic lyrics of his latest songs with Kamau, he captures his audience and maintains their attention in both comedy and rhythm.

If you haven’t seen any of his songs, this may be a good time to start updating yourself since he just keeps them coming like punches from Mayweather.

Here is Kamau na Njoroge with ‘Man Njoro’.

Peter Miles just got Levysill on Full Attention

Uganda’s dancehall artiste Peter Miles doesn’t waste time when it comes to making music. That explains why he is such a big deal across East Africa. He was recently in touch with Kenya’s own Dancehall/Reggae artiste, Levysill and did a marvelous track together.

The track, ‘Full Attention’ is a great club banger, with fast and hard beats that just defines Dancehall music. This Kenya Uganda collaboration is just what we needed to increase the night life relations between the two countries, just like Madtraxx and Keko did.

If you have ever spent a night in Uganda, without sleep of-course,  you probably know how crazy the night can get with the right crowd and the right club. The same goes for the Ugandan citizens in Kenya.  These collaborations might just make them a whole lot better.

Check out the video below.

I’m not beefing for fame

Artiste Influx Swagga (Wazito) has dropped a new video titled ‘Hii mzikii’ where he has attacked some of the celebs,

although he’s also thanking his fans.

He seems to be getting back on King wa rap, Collo’s song ‘Kuwa mpole’ featuring Frasha of P-Unit when he says ‘’Sikatai mie ni mtoi…na sitakua mpole.’’

This singer also suggests than Lillian Muli Kanene of Citizen TV show Slim possible should also cast a ‘Fat possible show’, and if that’s not enough he also dares to bust Classic FM presenter Ciku on her Busted segment.

Influx terms former KACC boss PLO Lumumba as ‘mse wa matisho’, but the only positive thing was that he thanked hi fans for supporting him.

He claims that he is not dissing people for fame, although I think he is.

A Kenyan documentary for HIV with soap opera actors?

The awareness about HIV in Kenya and Africa as a whole has been the agenda of numerous organisations and celebrities. Everyone trying to contribute their part to this cause just goes to show that we still have some care left in us despite all the sick stuff that’s happening all around us.

A documentary with this same cause is set to be screened in July, here in Kenya. The documentary titled ‘Corrie Goes To Kenya’ will have British soap opera actors, Michelle Keegan and Ryan Thomas (from the series Coronation Streets) as lead actors.

The two actors will be required to interact with those infected with HIV and get to know and understand what they go through and how they go through it. This might sound simple, but trust me, it is nowhere near the word.

The documentary promises to be an inspiring and life changing film for all. Keep it Ghafla! for more on this.

Gado on the political circus. It just gets better… or does it?

Ghafla!Kenya doesn’t do much politics since we’re all about the Kenyan entertainment scene. In fact, we don’t do politics at all. However, when I saw this caricature by our favorite cartoonist, Gado, I couldn’t help myself but just share it with you guys.

Gado managed to capture and illustrate the NHIF circus that has been going on for a while now, in a very funny way. What’s sad about it is that it is actually, somehow, true. Which is very unfortunate for our country.

This is art that speaks of our politics. Our society. The ‘sad’ comedy in it.

Gado

Still, you can’t help but laugh at it.

Jaguar: am just like the car Prezzo can’t afford, the Jaguar

Of late singer Jaguar has been throwing serious punches on Makini Music Group member and founder Prezzo for being a

contestant at the Big Brother stargame.

He has been saying the way Prezzo is broke and that is the reason he entered the reality TV show. Read more about it here.

One FM asked Jaguar if he has beef with Prezzo because Prezzo once said that he doesn’t know him, but the ‘Navuka boarder’ singer laughed and said that he’s not hating on him as people are saying , but instead he’s wishing him luck with a clean heart.

After this Jaguar threw another jab by saying, ‘’am just like the car which he can’t afford, the Jaguar’’.  Jaguar confirmed that he’s not looking for attention stunt because he has all he dreams of including winning all awards.

The singer clarified that Prezzo is a good rapper but not than Octopizzo.

This how Jaguar answered when interviewed by One FM this morning

Remember this goat with the human face?

I was just going through some of the Kenyan videos randomly and came across this old video that captured a very weired and mysterious incident that happend way back in 2009 in Mombasa. This was the weirdest and most mysterious Kenyan incident ever.

The headline itself was just messed up… “Goat with human face”. WTH!!! Citizen TV captured this clip of Jomvu village residents in Mombasa having discovered a newly born kid (not human kid, but goat kid) that had human features all over its body. Tongue, mouth, teeth, eyes… the whole face.

After coming from the shock of the video, you finally can’t help but wonder… “that was a really really sick pervert,” right? (as much as it is biologically impossible). Or do you want to convince yourself that this was a miracle? Didn’t think so.

Too bad the father is still at large. Check out the video below.

Nemeses Abbas and Chiwawa are teammates again

These two hip hoppers were good pals before hell broke lose, and we the fans were treated to some hard hitting lyrics just in the name of settling beef.

They were like US rappers Jay Z and Nas who decided not to physically fight, and instead, they resulted to music.

The best part is rapper Abbas Kubaff and his rival turned friend, Chiwawa are working on something together. Abbas confirmed that we should wait for ‘the Abbachiwa show’ video which is coming soon.

It’s good that they settled their issues, and now all the hip hop fans should expect good stuff from these two rappers. We know how good they are and so we can expect bigger stuff from them.

Journalism Convention Planned For May by MCK

The Media Council of Kenya is planning on hosting a Journalism Convention sometime this month, in conjucnction with the Communication for Development programme run by UNDP and UNESCO.

The event is part of proposed three regional events and meant to coincide with the World Press Freedom Day celebration in May 2012.

This convention will focus on the proposal to form a Professional Association of Journalists in Kenya, interrogating the possibility, the opportunities and challenges for its success in upholding journalistic profession while drawing lessons from other parts of Africa, Europe and Australia.

Guess who just remixed Madtraxx’s ‘Get down’…

Madtraxx’s song, ‘Get down’ was an absolute hit just like all his other songs. Madtraxx is just the definition of a hit maker. I actually can’t think of a song he has done that hasn’t become a hit. I mean, he even gets the elderly to dance to his tune. I’ll have whatever he’s using.

So, remember his track ‘get down’? Why am I even asking this, of course you do. Well, two of our rappers just decided to jump into the track and give us the remix. Kenrazy and Jinamizi collaborated to do this track.

Kenrazy comes on the first verse followed by Jinamizi, both rapping about the herb…! Madtraxx’s is on the third verse which is actually the same part that is on the actual song, and still, the best part.

The video is not available but here is the song.

Madtraxx to thrill rugby fans in London

Our Kenyan celebrities have been performing in all IRB series after parties, and this time round, sensational ‘Get down

singer Madtraxx will be flying our country’s flag high when he will be performing at London rugby seven’s after party.

He will be performing alongside his big brother DJ Stylez, whom will be on the decks on Saturday 12th at the Orchard Hall.

Any person who will be in London this coming weekend should make sure they don’t miss the show because the brothers are promising a superb performance.

Big up to 254 celebs for doing being things.

Over $2million Raised for Turkana Basin

A dinner and fundraising for the Turkana Basin Institute was held over the weekend in New York City, USA, bringing together about 200 weathly American business men and celebrities to raise funds for Dr. Richard Leakey’s research institution.

The Turkana Basin Institute (TBI) supports scientific projects in the Turkana basin area of Northern Kenya in what is deemed to be the cradle of mankind. The dinner, held on Saturday 5th May 2012, managed to raise a whooping Kshs. 83 million, thanks in part to a star-studded attendance that included the IMAX C.E.O Richard Gelfond adn philanthropist David Rockerfeller Jr.

This total collection was matched with another Kshs. 83 million donation by Euclidean President James H. Simmons and his wife Marilyn, at the event where renowned American musician Paul Simon also performed.

Kshs. 166 million was collected even before the auction began, which saw Kenyan painter Wangeci Mutu’s piece being sold for Kshs. 3,500,000 and a 9-day Kenyan safari toppling the Kshs. 3,800,000 mark.

Their generosity was spurred by the antics of the auctioneer who told the crowd, “You’ll never have an opportunity to advance scientific progress and drink so much at the same time.”

In his speech, Dr. Leakey said that TBI was founded  in conjucnction with New York State’s Stony Brook Institute and that they were working towards finding the exact moment at which human evolution took place.

The two undisputed Kenyan music videos

You definitely know that your music is hot when guys can’t stop talking about it and viewing it all the time. There is no such thing as “I’m looking at how bad it is’. I don’t think you would sit and stare at puke… it just doesn’t happen (this is for all the haters).

For a long while now, two videos have maintained high views and comments from fans all over the world, and counting. Although this is according to YouTube, you should put in mind that it is the biggest and most visited source of online entertainment in the world.

There are four categories in the YouTube charts that apply to the Kenyan music videos and these are; most viewed, liked, discussed and favorite videos. These two songs grab two categories each, so you really have to give them credit.

The top favorite and most viewed video of all time goes to ‘Kigeugeu’ by artiste and entrepreneur, Jaguar. This is by far the best and most successful song that he has ever done and hopefully not the last. This was and still is a very serious hit with over 625, 677 views and 1, 267 favorites.

kigeugeu

The most liked and discussed video goes to Camp Mulla’s ‘Party don’t stop’. This was an immediate hit worldwide. They made us proud, no doubt, with 1, 678 likes and 699 comments (and counting). This song however received both positive and negative reception which can all be seen in the comments below the video on YouTube. All in all, this is good music, if it wasn’t it wouldn’t be here and they wouldn’t be where they are right now. Deal with it.

Talk show cancelled after the guests (politicians) chicken out

USA are accustomed to watching presidential aspirants debating live on TV such that it becomes entertaining watching television, but our politicians namely

William Ruto, Martha karua and Musalia Mudavadi chickened out to debate live as soon as they realized that live audience was involved.

The trios were supposed to be on Agenda Kenya talk show before they realized that public audience was involved. NTV reporter James Smart confirmed this when he tweeted that the trio had backed off after getting the news that there will be a live audience.

smart

If this is the trend, then the Kenyan public will never get entertained by our politicians the way Americans enjoy.

Our media industry is trying to entertain us by looking for the most interesting stories, but our politicians are not willing and yet they are the once whom the television audience want to see and here about.

Why is everyone hating on Prezzo?

Prezzo’s in the BBA house and you’re not and that gives you yet another reason to hate aye?!

Why is everyone airing unsavoury remarks about the undisputed King of Bling being selected to represent the +254 down South in the Celebville house?

Jaguar recently came out guns blazing saying that he knows Prezzo needs the money so he (the latter) can count on his support as Jaguar only wants to see him make money. When i read this statement in the Monday Blues segment in the Monday paper of a local daily, Akon started singing in my mind “So why you wanna count my money?”. Let Prezzo do him brah, come-on, play this scenario out like it’s chess. If Prezzo doesn’t get far, you’ll be vindicated. If he does it wouldn’t have affected you: but now it will. Badly!

And to all the twitter gangsters out there, come-on, give Prezzo a chance. Afterall, he’s Kenyan and on the international scene, irrespective of whether you like him as a person or not, you have to support him cos you are a patriot. Support Kenya over anything or anyone. Don’t expect the Nigerians to show you any love whatsoever when they have one of their own in contention for the top prize. Trust me on that!

That’s just my humble opinion.
