Hussein has done various collaborations with Kenyan artistes including Size 8 and two Mombasa artistes.

Some of his songs like ‘unanifaa‘ and ‘kwa ajili yako‘ are some of Kenya’s favorite tunes, not forgetting his song with Size 8, ‘Nipe‘ which is currently receiving good play.

K24’s Jeff Koinange Interviews Activist Boniface Mwangi

Popular television personality Jeff Koinange this week interviewed the award-winning activist and photojournalist Boniface Mwangi on the K24 show ‘Capital Talk’.

Boniface is admired by many a Kenyan for the fact that he has strongly come out against exploitation of the country’s citizens by the political elite. He event went ahead a step further to use artistic expressionism to highlight grievances.

Mr. Mwangi alongside a select team of artists took to the streets of Nairobi coming up with graffiti artworks that portrayed selfish leaders as ‘vultures’. These displays attracted a lot of attention and got social media circles deep in reflective discussion about just what kind of future we would want to shape for future generations in Kenya.

Here’s the interview Jeff Koinange had with Boniface Mwangi on K24’s Capital Talk segment…

Star Wars’ Darth Vader pays a surprise visit to the BBA House

As part of this week’stask, Biggie told the contestants that they will be receiving very weird and random visitors any time of the day throughout the week, and they should not interact or react to any of the visitor’s actions and advances.

Weird characters showed up to both houses, but non was more interesting and awesome as Star Wars’ character, Darth Vader. One of the visitors had the costume on, and tried his best to make the contestants laugh.

Most of them controlled themselves wells, only letting a smile sneak on their faces. The war lord stood no chance with these guys.

Malonza hooks up with Jannette moments after taking a shower with Talia

Malonza is really really enjoying his time in the Big Brother Downville House. Taking trips from one girl’s world to the other seems to be his order of the day and I don’t think he has any intentions of stopping any time soon.

Last night, after the Downville housemates had a couple of drinks, Malonza took a steamy shower with TaliaMoments later, as wasted as they all were, he jumped into the jacuzzi with the equally naughty and full of drama Jannette. It is their passionate kisses and fondling that entertained the rest of the housemates as they drunk the night away.

Malonza is spoilt for choice and I have a feeling he won’t be making any. He is officially the guy who will have the best cherishable moments in this year’s Big Brother show. This is however, still messed up.

Wait, it get’s messed up even further. Junia today told Biggie that she dreamed of Malonza and the other housemates chanting her name. Meanwhile, Maloza was having the time of his life. Poor Junia, if she only knew. LOL!

It’s All Systems Go For the 2012 Broadcast, Film and Music Africa Conference

An exciting new stage at this year’s 4th annual Broadcast, Film and Music Africa (BFMA) conference will see film-makers and broadcasters, as well as other creative content firms interact with potential investors (otherwise known as venture capitalists) to pitch their business ideas and attract funding.

The investment platform, dubbed the African Electronic Media Business Exchange, is being put together by Filmbiz Africa in collaboration with AITEC Africa and has already attracted venture capital institutions from as far afield as the Netherlands and the US who embrace investment focus on film, broadcasting and creative content development.
Film-makers, music production houses, unique TV and radio initiatives, animators, advertising agencies, broadcasters and pollsters who attend the conference are being cited as potential beneficiaries.
“It is the best gift the BFMA conference series could give nascent high-potential firms in the continent,” said Michael Onyango, of the Africa Creative Hub, urging other content developers to grasp the opportunity.
About 13 leading venture capitalists have been invited and six have already confirmed participation.
“We can confirm that the US-headquartered Acumen Fund and the Netherlands based Africa Media Ventures Fund will be at the 4th BFMA for the Electronic Media Business Exchange,” said Chiaka Orjiako of Filmbiz Africa which is collaborating with AITEC Africa to host the Exchange.
Investeq Capital Limited, 88mph, Speed Capital and InReturn Capital are other prominent firms that will participate in the Exchange..
BFMA, now back in Nairobi for the 4th time, is the largest gathering of film, music, and broadcasting media professionals in the continent.
The conference discusses contemporary and future broadcasting models for pay and Free to Air (FTA) TV, Radio, trends in creative content, digital content development, dynamics in Africa Film among other issues such as music distribution as well as policy and management matters that impact on their growth. Cinema is also coming under a sharp focus at the July event, with presenters brainstorming whether the big screen is “dead or just in a coma”.
This conference has already attracted participation from film and broadcasting industries from across the world including the UK, US, South Africa, Mauritius, Uganda, China, with backing of such locally based institution such as the Kenya Film Commission, UNESCO and multiple media houses.
The conference also expects to host an exciting session on film content and cinema, with leading executives from Nigeria and Ghana film industry expected to share their experiences at the event.

BBA Update: Naughty Malonza showers with Talia!

Malonza was looking to have a private conversation with Zambia’s Talia… and naturally, the shower seemed like the best place to have it.

So ladies and gents, we have them soaking in a bucket trying to have an intimate convo about how Malonza feels about Jannette and what he’s looking for in her -is it just me or is Talia obsessed with Malonza’s relations with Jannette?

Anyway, just before the convo became lively, the ultimate, the apex in cockblockery Wati performed his magic trick and appeared where he was least welcome!

Check out the video below of the two soaking together as they have a chat…

Juliani’s Musical Experiment Being Unveiled This Weekend

Fans of Juliani, or just interesting music for that matter, will have the chance to sample the results of his recent experiment. Meet The Danes is a concert where the artiste and his partners in the project will unleash the music they made living together, fusing genres and styles.

Other than Juliani, the artistes featured are Palle Klok, Chris Adwar, Benjamin Aggerbaek, Winyo and Louise Hoegh. The project is supported by Danish Culture Fund.

This is not the first time such a project has been undertaken in the country. Last year, Welcome To The Madhouse, a collaboration between German and Kenyan artistes was released. The Goethe Institut’s BLNRB Project featured Ukoo Flani, Necessary Noize, Abbas, Modeselektor, Teichmann among others.

The event will take place at The Tree House on 30th June at 9:00 p.m. If you miss out on the action that day, you can make your way to this month’s edition of Blankets & Wine at 2:00 p.m. Charges at The Tree House will be Kshs. 1,000 and at Blankets & Wine it will be 1,300.

Kaka Sungura goes Afro Soul

Kaka Sungura aka Rabbit is a man so diverse in music you can’t even attempt to predict what he might do next. Being a rapper, you would expect Rabbit to just give us the usual rhymes on the usual hip hop beats, but no. He’s too creative to stay inside the box.

If you don’t already know, Rabbit is also a poet and has actually done some spoken word works on his latest mixtape titled ‘The Last King Of…’

Rabbit unique thing about Kaka Sungura is the fact that he is fond of musically collaborating with artistes that are far from the hip hop genre. Artistes that do music that one would never imagine could be fused with hip hop, just as he did with Anto Neosoul.

His latest track, ‘Salaam Aleikum’ which he has done with Ngalah (member of the Yunasi Band), is simply breath taking in so many levels. Ngalah brings in the Afro music that he so well does, and Rabbit fuses it with poetry. What’s even better about this track is the Nyatiti playing in the background. Rabbit manages to keep it deep and relevant with the lyrics as usual.

This is simply a sweet cocktail of poetry and Afro Fusion. Have a listen right here.

New Music Alert: Sweet, Soulful Music

Diana Nduba has been doing a project where she releases a new track every week. The soulful singer has released five tracks so far and there are two left to go, that will hopefully be done in the next fortnight. We hope that after the conclusion of the project, she has more in store for us.

The silky voiced singer has previously done gospel music, Buzzin’ and I La La Like It as part of the group, Chit Chat and Glorious with Bupe. She has also done a solo track, Too Good. Previously, she had collaborated with Just-A-Band on Have You Seen Her? She can also be seen on KTN’s Briefcase Inc. She also starred in The Battle, a musical she also wrote and starred in.

Check out this week’s release, Magic In The Air, below.

Next Big Thing: The Kids That Rocked DJ Cleo’s Concert

DJ Cleo might not be as widely popular in Kenya as he is in his home country but there is fan base and there was anticipation leading up to the Fahrenheit Party, which would his first concert in the region. For a fairly unknown artiste, he got huge press. Travelling with him, and much less known were the Teddy Bears.

The concert had big local names opening for the South African Kwaito DJ. From the highly rated Just-A-Band, the BET-nominated Camp Mulla and club staple, Madtraxx, the last name on anyone’s lips was Teddy Bears.

But anyone who arrived at the venue thinking that the Teddy Bears were set-fillers or just there for a consolation performance was definitely proved wrong. In a night that saw brilliance from everyone involved, the group put on the most energetic performance of the night, which had the crowd singing along to songs they hadn’t heard prior to that night.

The Teddy Bears have previously performed in Zimbabwe and are signed to DJ Cleo’s Will Of Steel. Judging from Saturday night’s performance, we can expect nothing but greatness from the young quartet.

Madtraxx To Produce Coca-Cola Kenya Olympic Anthem

Kisumu’s Collins Okoth and Juliet Karanja from Nairobi were announced as the winners of the Coca-Cola Kenya Olympic Anthem contest. The two were selected by the voting public through a process that was concluded on NTV’s The Beat last Friday.

“I think Kenya has made a good choice with Juliet and Collins,” said Madtraxx who will be the track’s producer. “I look forward to the magic we will be able to produce in studio in the coming weeks. It’s my hope the fans will continue to give us their input on Facebook and Twitter so that we can collectively make a real Kenyan Olympic anthem,” he added.

“I would like to thank Coca-Cola for giving me the opportunity to be involved in the search for new talent. It is not over though, as we are really looking forward to the recording of the song,” DJ Pinye said.

The competition started with auditions on 2nd June, 2012 and ended on 15th June, 2012, seeing over 300 hopefuls participating from the Kenyan cities, Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu. Judges whittled it down to a dozen finalists, and it was then left to the fans to pick the final two.

Senior Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola Kenya, Catherine Mudachi said, “This is a very exciting competition that provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the two talented winners to kick-start their music careers by being a part of something truly great.” She added, “We are confident that the anthem will spread the spirit of Olympics amongst Kenyan youth.”

Rapper Collins and singer Juliet will start recording with Madtraxx and a video will be follow shortly. The Coca-Cola Kenya Olympic Anthem is set to be released in early July.

Roki issues his apology

Just like DKB and Zainab, Roki knew that sooner or later he would have to make a public apology to his country for his behaviour which led to him being kicked out of the house along with Maneta.

After the fight, Roki was nursing injuries caused by the bleach Maneta poured on his face. Now that he is all better, being the humble celebrity that he is, he gave a touchy and considerate apology to his fellow citizens.

“I am sorry to every Zimbabwean. After the misbehaviour, I just think I don’t deserve all this warm welcome. I am very humbled by the support even after I am out of the game. What hurts me is that I could have done more,” said Roki full of regret according to sources.

This is the part I don’t agree with, “I am the one who caused all the drama by pouring water on Maneta, I just want to say sorry to her. Her behaviour in the Big Brother house was justified because it was impossible for her to be herself in front of cameras. She wouldn’t have acted that way if it was a normal situation.”

And this is the part that’s proving to be true as days go by, “That place makes a person crazy. You are like a puppet that is controlled.”

Well, I can’t wait to hear what Maneta has to say.

Did you know that Octopizzo’s new condoms actually glow in the dark?

You have probably heard about Octopizzo’s new business venture, a condom line that is set to take the youths by storm. If not, I completely understand. The guy has lately been launching so many businesses that it’s now hard to keep track.

With aim of fighting the spread of STDs and unwanted pregnancies among the youth, Octopizzo thought of a way to attract them to the use of condoms since, let’s face it, you can’t really expect us to stop, right?

So, Octo thought to himself, “what if I made the condoms glow in the dark.” I’m not really sure what brought this thought to his mind, but he didn’t waste any time in taking the initiative to make it happen.

Bringing in swag to the packaging, he made sure that they are as attractive and seductive as the action itself (if you know what I mean). I gotta say that he pulled it off. I’m not sure about the ‘glow in the dark’ feature, but the market will have the last word.

This will be very interesting considering that it’s market has been expanded to cover the whole of Africa.

Blast From The Past: Nonini

Nonini has been in the music industry for about a decade. His first track, Nonini Ni Nini Na Ni Nani? didn’t receive as much airplay as his second effort, the breakout, Manzi Wa Nairobi in 2002. Three years later, he released his first album, Hanyaring Game. Many of his releases went on to be club anthems, like, Wee Kamu, Keroro and Furahi Day with Nameless.

In 2007, he released his second album, Mwisho Wa Mawazo which featured ’90s icon, Mercy Myra, celebrated Tanzanian rapper, Professor Jay, Coast artiste, Nyota Ndogo among others. In the same year, he made The Standard Newspaper list of 100 most influential Kenyans.

In 2009, Malaysia’s Limkokwing University named him International Lifestyle Ambassador. In the same year, he released his third album, Godfather. The Genge artiste has recently mostly released hits with P-Unit, an outfit he formed.

Nonini made a name for himself doing explicit music but the 29 year old has recently made a turn doing more conscious material with songs that have been featured on MTV’s Shuga and a song sensitizing people on the plight of albinos. We take a look back at Nonini’s gateway to the industry with a track that was one of the biggest hits in 2002, Manzi Wa Nairobi.

Hot music alert: Kenya’s fastest rappers at it again!

When you have a listen to this track, international acts like Twista or Busta Rhymes come to mind.

The speed at which these guys go in on the track is just amazing! I had heard the two (Nightshift Diggito) a while back and i’m still amazed at how fast they can rap!

The title of fastest rappers in East Africa is safely theirs. and they have found an entertaining way to put it into a crunk track. Granted, the track titled “Ressurection” is a little old (It’s from January), but it’s still fresh.

Rapper takes shots at Octopizzo

Octopizzo is an awesome rapper and further more, he’s even a better businessman. This is probably the reason why I don’t get why this equally lethal rapper had to go and do this.

Then again, listening to this track ‘Take-Over’ by MC Mwakenya, there’s no denying that this guy can flow and deliver lyrics like no joke. I am very much interested in unfolding this ‘beef’ that no one seems to have heard of.

Mwakenya goes hard on Octo with lyrics like, “Octo asha-admit hana flow. What a flop, but ana seiling. Mi nina walls, hawa ma-rapper hawawezi penetrate lyrically.” Listen to all this and more from his track below.

We are yet to hear from Octopizzo on this one.

Beba Beba’s ‘Tasha’ Speaks About Some Provocative Stuff She May Have Done

In the second part of the interview we had with Beba Beba star Nancy Wanjiku, a.k.a ‘Tasha’, the actress opened up about people whom she looks up to in the industry.

Nancy also comes out about some controversial propositions she experienced trying to make it in the industry, firmly stating that the Kenyan film industry is not yet mature enough or as developed as the West to make certain demands of professional actors who are out to make a positive name for themselves.

Have a look at the interview link below…

Capital FM Has A Small Audience, So How Do They Still Make So Much Money?

According to the recent KARF radio survey for the first quarter of 2012, Capital FM doesn’t have such a large audience.

When it comes to total market share, the survey indicated that Capital owns only slightly above zero percent market share(0.3% to be exact). Despite this, Capital FM still manages to charge hundreds of thousands to advertise with them. Why is this so? Isn’t advertising supposed to be directly proportional to the size of the audience?

Well, it just so happens that there is a game-changing variable in the advertising world, known as Living Standard Measure(LSM). LSM refers to the level of wealth, happiness, comfort, material goods and necessities available to a certain socioeconomic class in a certain geographic area. It is measured on a scale of 1-10. It is categorised as following:

LSM 1-3 = The poor

LSM 4-6 = The middle class

LSM 7 and 8 = The upper middle class

LSM 9 and 10 = The rich

Capital have intentionally positioned themselves to take over the LSM 9-10 market, which consists of the Kenyans who reside in the leafy suburbs such as Karen and Muthaiga, commonly known as barbies. The unfortunate reality in the advertising industry is that advertisers value barbies waaay more than they value the poorer sufferers amongst us. It’s all about purchasing power. Advertisers reasoning is that they want to put their message in front of people who are likely to buy their product, so they’d rather spend more money putting their product in front of the barbies who listen to Capital. When it comes to the sufferers who listen to other radio stations, advertisers don’t believe that they can buy as much, so they pay less to put their message in front of the sufferers.

Basically, in the advertising industry, a barbie in hand is worth 10 sufferers in the bush. THAT’s why Capital makes so much money despite a small audience.

Prezzo and Keagan hide under the bed!

Prezzo is officially and by far the most entertaining contestant in Big Brother’s Upville House. He is always up to something cheeky and at times, just total drama.

This morning he decided to pull an invisible act for the morning trainer when he showed up for the usual session. What’s better is that he even managed to bring in Keagan and Keitta on the joke.

As the trainer knocked continously on the door, Prezzo told Keitta, the nearest to the door, not to open. When Keagan was almost giving in to the preasure, Prezzo convinced him to just get back in bed. They all covered their heads as they laughed under the sheets.

edit

It got extremely funny when Prezzo and Keagan hid under the bed when they noticed that the trainer was about to enter the room. Keitta was too slow and was therefore caught red handed trying to escape.

While Keagan later joined the morning exercise session, Prezzo was a no-show.

Get Ready For a Great Jazz Experience this Friday

This Friday the ‘Jazz Girls’ will be taking over the Michael Joseph Center on Waiyaki Way as they serenade and entertain attendees with the best that the genre has to offer.

‘Jazz Girls’ is an all-girl 5 piece jazz band made up of extremely talented Kenyan musicians who include:

1. Loice Adhiambo, who is the youngest member of the group and has been playing the flute for one and a half years. She has played for jazz maestro Joseph Hellon and also for Kathy Kiragu, and has been part of the Heineken Jazz Experience. Loice also plays the piano, sings, is a song-writer and teaches music.

The Alpha-TPF saga: The other side of the coin!

Alpha has broken his silence on what he considers betrayal by the management board of TPF (slash) EABL.

But when you analyze the situation, what exactly does EABL owe it’s alumni other than the stipulated prizes? What more could the contestants want?

Well, EABL is the sponsor of the East African edition of Project Fame and even loan their name to our indeginous version but beyond that, do they really owe anyone anything? EABL is in the business of brewing and distributing alcohol. Period. TPF is a brilliant marketting gimmic but nothing more. Or is it?

My thinking is that if EABL wants to manufucture stars then they should be in it for the long haul. They should see the project through to the end and that end isn’t when the artist has won or recorded an album. In that respect, Alpha has a point. Just think about how much further Valerie would have flown had she recieved real backing.

ALPHA

Look at the stars produced by the international shows like Idols. They received banking above and beyond and that resulted in stars such as Jordin Sparks, Ruben Studdard, Kelly Clarkson et al. These names have gone on to raise the profiles of some of those that backed them such as Simon Cowell.

But then again, haven’t EABL done a fair amount to create stars out of the likes of Alpha? They have equiped them with alot more than the average celeb ever has. Take Jaguar for instance, he has built his empire single handedly. Or take Juliani, he has risen from grass to grace and he is an inspiration. Perhaps Alpha should begin to adopt a DIY (Do It Yourself) attitude and he will see his fortunes rise.

That’s just my humble opinion.

Rapper pulls a ‘mwakenya’

Straight from the hood of Kawangware, a lethal rapper rises with a slow and fierce flow like that of American rapper Ice Cube. From the moment you hear his voice fuse with the beats, the first thing I notice is the extreme energy and command in his voice.

Going by the interesting stage name, ‘MC Mwakenya‘, this rapper proudly defends and represents his hood in his new track ‘Take-Over‘ in which he has lyrics like “Walidhani ni Dandora tu, wakasahau ku-call zima-moto. Dandora burning, Kawangware rising to the top. Na ka Kibera ndio the mother land, basi Kawangware ndio the ancestral land.” Clearly territorial and does not hide it in his music.

Take-Over has this urban hard core hip hop beats that grasp your attention and it all goes so well with the aggressive delivery of the lyrics and vocals. This track is the definition of hard hip hop and it’s just about time before you here the name MC Mwakenya in the airwaves and concerts.

Way to go Mwakenya. Have a listen right here.

Prezzo: Goldie would die if something happened to us

Prezzo seems to be convinced that the conserved Nigerian singer may be too much into their ‘relationship’ and fears that she would actually crash if something happened to them, that something being the inevitable break-up that’s coming very slowly.

After their fight last night, a sad Goldie wanted to spend the night outside the house, but luckily the weather was too cold for her to do so. Today morning, Prezzo woke with rather low moods and just had to find someone to gossip about Goldie with.

Keitta was available and proved to be a good audience for Prezzo’s woes. He told him how he’s been struggling with Goldie’s unusual behaviours and how hard it actually is to keep up with her random depressions.

“It takes a big heart to deal with her. If something major would happen between us, she would die. We would need an ambulance up in here,” Prezzo told the entertained Keitta.

I think this is the turning point for Prezzo and boiling point for Goldie. Things are about to go crazy up in here.

One FM’s Tina Kaggia: Doing her bit to build Kenya’s entertainment industry

I’ve just had the pleasure of having an afternoon tet-a-tet with the beautiful Tina Kaggia about a myriad of topics.

One of the said topics that we discussed was the fact that Kenyan emcees feel that our local stations do not show own love. I put her to task to explain why this is the case if indeed it is.

She calmly explained to me that while indeed this has been the case for a long time, (even MCSK gave a report that stated the same) but according to her, One FM is not in the business of discriminating against our own.

TINA KAGIA 1

Not one to be easily put off by a simple answer, i pressed on. What exactly are One FM’s criteria for what it considers to be good music? What exactly does good music entail?

I was rather shocked to find out that One FM’s only criteria is quality. If the song is of good sound quality, it doesn’t matter what language you sing it in, it will be played. Ofcourse there was the simple matter of whether or not the song would fall under the “urban” banner but that is no deterrent.

I was actually taken aback! And when she realised just how unconvinced i was (i mean, really? Certain anonymous stations that exclusively play foreign music had me thinking otherwise) then the rest of the lads in the office chimed in there agreement with what Tina was asserting.

Apparently, my radio ignorance didn’t allow me to see the truth but Tina Kaggia is clearly doing her bit for the entertainment industry. When the truth is told, very few radio presenters will be remembered for building the homegrown talent.

That means that if you have some music, aslong as it is quality music -not a pair of gorilla banging their heads against drums, you need to get it to One FM, have it earmarked for the lovely Tina and have all your friends listen in.

TPF5 Contestants on Probation For ‘Meet and Greet’ This Week at Klub Bettyz

The contestants will try and drum up support from their fans to vote for them to stay in the house and it will be interesting to see whether Kenya’s Doreen turns out the darling of the crowd yet again, after she narrowly escaped eviction on the first eviction night.

There will be a series of competitions at the event and lucky attendees will get complimentary tickets to the live shows over the weekend.

Prezzo fights with Goldie. Is this the last round?

This was bound to repeat itself sooner or later. I expected it much sooner than this, ever since Goldie started showing her moody self all over the house, leaving Prezzo to be the one to comfort her and bring her hype back.

Yesterday night as the two talked in the kitchen all alone, feelings were expressed and unfortunately some un-intended truth was leaked. Truth is, Prezzo doesn’t really care about the fact that Goldie might be the reason that he is still in the house. We are all familiar with the size of ego that Prezzo possess so all this shouldn’t be hard to believe.

Prezzo intentionally or not, managed to let out the fact that he did not need her to save him as he wanted to see Africa’s decision. Goldie could literally not believe this. Prezzo later went on to tell her that she is a pretender and that she didn’t really mean it when she said that she wanted to leave the house.

Glodie tried to remind Prezzo of all the times she has tried to show him affection and care and it seems as though Prezzo wasn’t interested in this at all.

Later, as obvious as it was, Goldie broke down in tears as an angry Prezzo left the room.

EXCLUSIVE: TPF (EABL) DOES NOT SUPPORT IT’S STARS CLAIMS ALPHA!

Alpha broke his silence about 23hrs ago decrying the lack of support from EABL.

Quick recap; just who is Alpha? Well, Alpha was a Rwandese contestant who rose to fame and stardom after winning the competition in TPF’s 3rd cycle.

In a note he wrote through his facebook page, the TPF3 winner bemoaned the lack of support from EABL when he recently attempted to host an event for both himself and the rest of the TPF Academy alumni. According to his account of events, he had organised everything but when he approached the management of the brewery, he was met with ear-splitting silence.
In his note which was full of emotion, the star first started by thanking EABL and the whole team at TPF Academy for affording him the opportunity to become a musician. He then delved into the subject matter and spoke about an indifference from the same folk who organize TPF ergo made him a star. The irony in all this is the fact that the show is modelled after Project Fame which aims to create as many stars as possible.

Alpha-with-Ray-J
Alpha had clearly thought through his open letter as he even takes a swipe at the fact that EABL earns alot of revenue from the fledgling acts it claims to be nurturing yet they refuse to support them once the show is over or when they undertake independent ventures.
He also brings up Valerie Kimani whose plight he champions by saying that though she made some headway in the international music scene, she would have made it big had she recieved more support.
But he cuts the image of a conflicted individual when he intimates that this was an issue he had held close to his heart and had fought private battles over whether or not to come to the fore about the lack of support.
Keep it locked on Ghafla for more information as the story unfolds!

ALPHAS RANT

Check out this new gospel flavor from these guys

Most Kenyan gospel music usually have almost the same flow and sound, so it gets really interesting when artistes come up with something out of the ordinary, mainly on sound and delivery, and that is precisely what these two guys have brought to the table.

Jagas and Tariko collaborated to create this gospel track titled ‘sijali‘ which has a fast pace beat almost resembling those of dancehall genre of music, except, this track has some bit of African beats in it and the rhythm of the artistes is fantastic.

Simple lyrics accompanied with a simple video, and the tune to the chorus is just awesome. Check out the video, I’m sure you’ll love it.

Fred Omondi, Mbuvi and DJ Pinye To Lead Cerebral Palsy Walk

Comedians, entertainers and local celebrities are among  a star-studded cast that will lead a charity walk set to be held next weekend in support of victims with cerebral palsy.

Fred Omondi, Gospel musician Mbuvi and Dj Pinye are among a hand full of prominent personalities who will grace the event and walk with the children at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday the 30th of June 2012 from 8.00am.

As an initiative of the Cerebral Palsy Society of Kenya in partnership with The Insurance Regulatory Authority, the theme for the walk will be “Partnering to Create a Stigma Free Environment” and will seek to fight stigma, create awareness and raise funds for the required therapy of cerebral palsy in Kenya.

The Cerebral Palsy Society of Kenya is a non-profit making society set up by parents of children with cerebral palsy in 1994.  The centre caters for a very large number of children, approximately 200 and their families, who come to the centre on a weekly/monthly basis.

The children receive physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.  They also have a home based programme, where the occupational therapists visit several homes in the neighbourhood and offer therapy services for the children who are not able to come to the clinic.  The society has been in the front-run in creating awareness among parents and the public in general about cerebral palsy.
