Camp Mulla Nominated For YET ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL AWARD

It seems it is Camp Mullah time to dominate the spotlight. So far, the teen hip-hop crew has had a very successful year. Just last week the group released their single Prices featuring Nigeria’s Wizkid few days after dropping their new album, Funky Town. Camp Mulla has now been nominated for BEFFTA Awards days after they were nominated for the MTV EMAS and M.O.B.O Awards on the same day.

Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA), is a distinctly special awards ceremony that honours the best showbiz and entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, USA, Africa and globally. Because of this, BEFFTA is the biggest music awards in Europe.

Camp Mullah has been nominated in the Best International Act and will be competing against Zahara, Cover Drive, Dbanj, Grace Galaxy and Ruff Kid. Other Kenyans who have nominated for the awards are Nonini and Nameless though in a different category (Best International Afrobeats Act).

Online voting for the BEFFTA UK 2012 will begin on Sunday 7th October and will run till Sunday 21st October. The main award ceremony will be held in London on 27th October.

Let’s get voting people when the voting lines open. This time at least one of our own should clinch an international award.

Twitter Beef: According to Rapcha, Mbusii is Fake

This Sunday, stand-up comedian Rapcha the Sayantist disrupted a quiet evening on Twitter by tearing into popular radio show host, Mbusii.

@IAMRAPCHA Shaffie might not be your favorite radio presenter but if you are my friend and want to blast him on the papers and the internet at least tell me, Respect family.”

If you were wondering why Rapcha would defend Shaffie so, he explains it in this tweet:

@IAMRAPCHA Shaffie Weru’s granny took me in when my mama was down and out so i dont appreciate the fact that mbusi called him fake coz mbusi is fakest radio presenter.”

He then went on to explain why he thought Mbusii was fake:

@IAMRAPCHA the whole model wording and tags lines and structure even the word mbusi kijana mdogo alie na mapoo, of goteana were taken from rauka.”

@IAMRAPCHA from toto si toto, jaribu kutulia and of course the marriage between sheng and science, kujichosis etc etc arent your creation n*gg*.”

@IAMRAPCHA The only thing mbusi came up with is kung’uta miwa and hakuna mbrr, thats the kind of s**t you come up with when your hobby is smoking weed and farting.”

@IAMRAPCHA You cant claim to teach sheng while you’ve spent less than ten yrs in the city, u first know the city then the language not the other way round.

During the barrage of insults, bystanders were caught by some of the vitriol. Rapcha also attacked Ghetto Radio’s Maji Maji.

@IAMRAPCHA that applies to your adviser too, you teach sheng but you rap in your mother tongue?? Are you out of your f****n’ mind??”

@IAMRAPCHA Wacha ni deal na haka kashoga ka maji maji one time ndo kakalambe rasa

Other tweets directed at Mbusii and Maji Maji:

@IAMRAPCHA Tuanikane kwani iko nene?? Kaa umeshikilia dunia achilia tukufe. #mofo”

IAMRAPCHA Its 2:45pm so STFU or tell kichwa maji maji to give money to the hired facebook army or face me on the muthafukin stage.”

@IAMRAPCHA Warai birai nimeamua kusoma pisha…na hio ni seng kware hawatabui.”

Rapcha then threatened to go on with the hateration for a while:

@IAMRAPCHA This entire week i’ll be droping tweets about mbusi lazima ukweli wakenya wajue mzuri ama mbaya ok lemmi say ‘musuri ama baya'”

@IAMRAPCHA Si yeye alidiss shaffie kwa internet RT @Mike_marshall17: @IAMRAPCHA Ata kama jo! iyo c poa kudis msee kwa social sites.”

@IAMRAPCHA I speak with an accent for fun and making money, you speak with an accent coz ur not capable of speaking without it.

Mbusii has remained quiet over the incident on his own Twitter. The closest he got to getting back at Rapcha the Sayantist was this tweet:

@Mbusii niko ra…ra..ra raha zangu club chomabase donny…na enjoy my realness..wolaaaan mashatter na mashattares! Ama iyo pia nimecopy?

Before Mbusii’s Flight Goteana Show, Rapcha’s Rauka was the most popular show on the Ghetto Radio. Rumors has it that Rapcha was fired from the station after making an offensive joke on air. Rapcha is currently a TV personality on Raiyaa and LOL and radio presenter on Hot 96.

Nonini Gets a New Lady

It seems the Godfather of Genge is keen on expanding his “family”. Yesterday, the rapper turned radio presenter introduced the latest member of the Prohabo family.

“In the spirit of giving the girl child a chance to shine on the same level with the boys, we give u Annette (More details about her to follow but for now her voice speaks)!!!” wrote Nonini. Annette is featured in Nonini’s one day old video, Pole Pole. “Introducing Annette who killed the chorus, the newest member in the Prohabo stable. This lady is going far watch this space,” asserted the raprenuer.

annette
Nonini has always given a chance new fresh talent in the Kenyan music industry to display their aptitude. P-unit, for instance, is one of the many success stories that Nonini can tell. He has however always felt that there is a gap that needs to be exploited with females in this male dominated game.

Pole Pole Nonini

Nonini has decided to bring back the 90’s shuffle but with a Genge touch to it. So, true to the promise he made last week, Nonini released the video to his single Pole Pole on Friday at the Asmara Lounge. However, the video was unveiled on TV and consequently on YouTube yesterday.

Dubbed 30-12-12, the video is momentous to Nonini. Take a look; 30-12-12 is upon us= 30 (Nonini turns 30 this week)-12 (He has been in the industry for 12 years now)-12 (Its 2012). Nonini features Annette, his newest member of his music stable in the video, who does the chorus a great justice.

The video is off Nonini’s upcoming 4th Album titled Mdundo za Kibiashara. Pole Pole was produced at the Provoke Music Studios where the genius Provoke fused Genge & African House music in what he calls 3D Music.
