This Saturday (19th of January), DJ Joe Mfalme will be holding it down at the Lavish Lounge, in what might just as well be the happy night for Pilsner Ice lovers.

On this epic night dubbed ‘Slam Down Party’, Pilsner Ice will be sold for Sh. 150 all night long and with DJ Joe Mfalme on the decks, I honestly don’t think there is anything more to be said except, mind your head.

Entry is absolutely free but only to persons above the age of 18.

Come step into the Pilsner Ice Zone.

Gloria Muliro Exposes A Lesbian But Was She Right To Do So?

Earlier today the ever diligent Jeff Omondi broke a story about Gloria Muliro exposing a lesbian.

And to be frank, if you haven’t read it, you should break your laptop into a million pieces because it isn’t helping you surf the web for important information. But enough of that, the low down on the whole issue can be found here.

My take on the whole issue is that i don’t understand her intentions. What she did was not just irresponsible, it was humiliating. To post the message was simply cruel. Why didn’t she simply ignore it or better yet delete it? Rather than posting both the message and the lass’ email address, she could have let sleeping dogs lie.

Truth be told, the message was probably a scam artis trying his luck but Gloria Muliro’s response was callous and self-righteous. If indeed the lesbian was real, rather than exposing her to public humiliation, she should have deleted the message. We live in a country where lesbains and gays aren’t embraced. Rather, they are openly harrased and humiliated by the like of i-Club and now it seems Gloria Muliro is also on that tip.

Why in heavens name would you seek to name and shame the lass? What could have possessed you to taking such an action? I vehemently oppose your decision Ms./Mrs. (not sure which) Muliro. Your actions could potentially endanger the life of that lass.

Handle such issues with sensitivity and decorum. Ignore if you must but do not subject the individual to public ridicule and humiliation. That degrades them as human beings. Uncle Chim Tuna has had his say!

Ever seen this sketch of Malonza being welcomed back to Kenya on Comedy Club?

These JB guy is just hilarious. It never ends with him.

Back last year, just when the Big Brother Africa housemates had just left South Africa and were being welcomed by their loyal fans, The Comedy Club decided to have their own welcoming session for Malonza.

As usual, they were very comical about it. They even did a report on it.

Check it out below.

Photo Gallery: Katenga Entertainment shoot another hot video

Cartel and the funny man Alfayo Way, which is pretty much all the artistes we know from Katenga Entertainment are at it again. The two Jatelos are once again spending mad cash shooting a new video on the streets of Nairobi.

Being very familiar with this combination as we the Ghafla! crew are, we know for sure that we are in for a hilarious and hot video. Not much information has been released about this new song but the behind the scenes photos.

Check them out.

Teen sensation Jay A to drop his latest video next week

He is the new kid on the block that is on everyone’s lips. They say this kid talks big and he has the walk to back it up with. We have met him, actually, interviewed him and yes, he got the walk to back his talk.

Most of his judgmental fans (haters), have however been all over his case, claiming that he has been dishing out sissy songs. Silly comments and observations really. I mean, calling tracks that make money for the artiste sissy? Now that’s just dumb!

Anyway, Jay A, being the easy and ‘cool peoples’ guy that he is, came out to respond to these stupid allegations.

“Gangsters need to have some fun sometimes lol! Kenyans are party people so i need to give you guys something to move to, something to make you gello. I need to be versatile, to keep all my fans entertained. If you love hiphop, i am dropping my new video next week. Get a pen and paper and take Notes,” he told Insyder Magazine.

I for one, can’t wait for the new hip hop track from this dude.

GHAFLA EXCLUSIVE: Ringtone Quits Race For Dagoretti North MP Seat!

Ladies and gentlemen, frogs and toads, Ringtone seems to have made the decision to call off his bid for an MPs seat.

The artist who had announced his ambition for the seat was to vie on a TNA party ticket and had in previous days appeared really close to the top brass of the party even praying when Jubilee unveiled Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta as it’s presidential candidate. I intend to reach him for a comment as to why he had a sudden change of heart.

And this is how he opted to drop the news via his Facebook page:

AFTER CONSULTATION,SOUL SEARCHING AND PRAYER I HAVE FOUND IT BEST TO WITHDRAW MY BID FOR MP UNTIL THE NEXT ELECTION.”

Wawesh Goes RnB in His New Track

We have known Wawesh to produce some fairly fast-paced material, including the up-tempo, electro version of Dela’s originally mellow Weche Tek. But on his new track, he seems to have taken a new direction.

The producer is working on a new album and from the title, it looks like the whole thing will be slow-paced. Mahaba is “a Kenyan, Swahili tale for the grown and sexy.” The first single is titled Njoo and is performed by Binti featuring Ego.

Here is a description attached to the song:

Mapenzi ni safari shwari isiyotaka ushari, yanapohusisha shairi, ni ishara tosha kuwa rubani ni mzoefu, iwapo taonyesha ukosefu, rubani atasawazisha na uzoefu.

Unapozama katika zimbi la huba, mshike mkono Kingast mwambie: nifuate, tuabiri aote katika ngalawa ya mapenzi ukimpenda mtu, sema nae pole pole, kwa macho ya tamani mwambie…NJOO!

WORD!

Check out the track below.

This is but just some of the action that goes down in Nax Vegas (video)

If you are a crazy reveller, like the Ghafla Allstars are, you truly haven’t lived until you have raved at one of Naivasha’s crazy clubs popularly known as Nax Vegas.

Half of what you might see as you walk into one of Nax Vegas night events is enough to make you underrate Jamaica’s ‘Pasa Pasa’. This is the real deal. The reveller’s idea of heaven.

Check out the video below. This is but just a taste of what goes down in Nax Vegas.

Yet Another ‘State Funeral’ Announced for MPs

Looks like there will be more than one “state funeral” for MPs this week. Renown photojournalist, Boniface Mwangi, announced a procession to take place tomorrow. Now, another one is set to take place later this week.

Between the 17th of January from 12:45 p.m. and 19th January at 3:45 p.m. the other state funeral will take place at Lang’ata Cemetary. The three-day event has been organized by a Human Rights lawyer.

According to the event page on Facebook: “True to their wishes and desires, we figure that we should fast-forward the reality of their dreams to 17th January, 2013. Don’t be fooled, we will do the gun salute and serve meat! perhaps the rotting carcasses of the recently butchered 12 elephants!”

Read about the other state funeral here.

5 Kenyan celebrities thought to be gay… but are not

Please note that each and every celebrity mentioned in this article, IS NOT GAY! However, that has not stopped the fans and critics from speculating and even concluding that they’re so.

Some of these assumptions and accusations may have been catalyzed by the way the celebrities dress, talk or present themselves, but most of it is just from body language. Silly criteria of judgement, I know.

Still, here goes…

Maina Kageni

As we all ponder over Maina Kageni’s love life (which is by the way non of our business), as we wonder when this well financially established man will get hooked and married, let’s just remember that there are many single men out there who are very much straight. This photo too (above), which was on Pulse Magazine still gives us hope that he is still on our side. Plus, there are rumours circulating that this guy has landed himself a dendai.

Sauti Sol’s Chimano

Now, this became clear when he himself came out claiming that all the gay rumours are false. Here are all the details, straight from the horse’s mouth.

Anto Neosoul

This right here is a devoted Christian. Not that that is good proof that he isn’t gay, but those that are close to Anto actually know that he has a girlfriend whom he loves so much. If that is not proof enough, here is a video of his interview with us.

{youtube}e0Oba_O-Mag{/youtube}

Ian Mugoya

These speculations arose immediately when Ian posted this photo in which he was seen pecking his friend on the cheeks. Make you know, they were s*** faced out of their minds and were just fooling around like boys always do. I will now take it upon me to remind you all the beautiful and glamorous ladies that Ian Mugoya has ‘plakad’.

Jimmy Gait

This is a closed case but the list just wouldn’t be complete without it. Let’s just blame all those accusations and speculations on skinny jeans, but still, the man is free to dress as he pleases just as long as he doesn’t cross-dress. Here is the video in which he addresses the gay rumours.

Shocking: Police Boss Can’t Speak Coherent English (video)

After watching this short clip you’ll agree with me the Kenya Police seriously needs to put its house in order. If a senior police officer like the one in the footage cannot construct a comprehensible sentence in English then really as a service, the Police is the biggest joke.

This one in particular is really trying to give a report of what happened at a scene of an accident and you can really see that he’s struggling to put words together. This cop became the laughing stock online with #KOT coming up with a trending topic, #tweetlikeakenyapolice, making fun of the police.

Take a look at the clip below, courtesy of NTV’s Bull’s Eye.

P Unit’s You Guy Tees Are Out (Photos)

They gave you the biggest track for 2012 and now they want you to don the “You Guy” t-shirts as you jam to their hit song. Announcing the release of the tees, P-Unit was overwhelmed by the feedback received with most fans commending the tees.

I’ve Seen The Latest Kenzo Video, And It’s Awesome

So Kenzo has finally finished the video for his latest hit, “Matatu” and he was gracious enough to give me an exclusive sneak preview of the video. The controversial video, which got Kenzo in trouble with his ex-girlfriend, has been shot by Ogopa video, and you KNOW how they do it big.

Kenzo had to go ahead and shoot the video despite threats to his life, showing how committed he was to the project. For the rest of you guys, you’re going to have to wait for the video to launch tomorrow on your local TV stations and on YouTube as well.

The Making of Nyota Ndogo’s New Song (Photos)

Nyota Ndogo recently released a spanking new song, Tunataka Amani, which highlights the cost of violence. It did not stop there as she quickly got down shooting the video. The song also emphasizes on the importance of brotherhood and restraining tribal cruelty. Check out some of the photos from the video shoot;

The video is yet to be released though.

DNA, Wyre, Amileena and Kidis working on the next Grandpa Records major hit (photo)

After ‘Maswali ya Polisi’ and ‘Fimbo’, I don’t think I have to explain to you, or rather make you believe that this soon to drop track will be a major hit.

DNA just has that magic touch that all artistes pray for. For some, you really have to work hard to get it and stick with it. As for guys like DNA and Wyre, well, it just comes natural. They effortlessly make hits that later on not only takes over the Kenyan music industry, but spreads all over East Africa like wild fire.

As Grandpa Records grow by number of signed artistes and hype as well, so does their ability and potential to become the next hit making Recording House.

Right now, as we speak, or rather read, some of the biggest and relevant Kenyan artistes are now in studio working on the next hit track. Now let’s just wait and see what DNA, Wyre, Amileena and Kidis have in store for us.

Just Why Is Blankets So Successful?

I read a report somewhere about 6,000 people attending this month’s edition of Blankets which also happened to be the 40th edition.

When Blankets started out, i remember seeing Muthoni Ndong’a’s event being advertised on fliers at Sarit and if memory serves me well, it was also advertised at V.Ma (Village Market).

Back then, i wasn’t too interested in soulful music or picnics. I was more into partying and pursuing women (which i would fail at miserably). But to have witnessed the humble beginnings of Blankets to seeing how it was on the first weekend of the month, i can’t help but be impressed. But to understand just how Blankets has grown, one has to dissect Blankets.
With that said, i have attempted to do so for any other event organizer befuddled by Muthoni’s success. And these are some of the tips i’ve come up with:

DSCN1852.jpg

#1. Clientele
Target the right crowd. If you want a ragga concert, market it to the youth who are interested. As such, you will be able to concentrate on the problems you can anticipate and a solution for said challenges. Muthoni knew that the middle and upper class are the people who would be interested in a picnic that would offer an opportunity to not just network but show off. And she knew she wouldn’t have to keep stamping out fights because the crowd would be mature. Well, unfortunately, the age level has dropped drastically but the silver lining is that these are kids within her target economic bracket.

#2. Venue
Blankets has moved around alot. That was before they settled on their current venue. By doing so, Muthoni has made it more exclusive. It’s a headache getting to Leisure Gardens using matatus. Trust me, i’ve tried it before.
Choose your venue carefully to suit your targeted clientele. If it’s a reggae concert, Kasarani will suffice -actually, Kasarani is an awesome venue but that’s just a side note. If it’s DJ Cleo, Ngong Racecourse is best.

#3. Security
I can’t believe that in this day and age, i have to keep emphasizing this! And by security i don’t mean the meat heads who man clubs in Nairobi, i mean the smiling security personnel that are usually at Muthoni’s concerts. Not only are they friendly, they are also helpful. They break up fights without getting overly physical, they help you park and they try to help drunk girls -trust me, i witnessed this when my uhm… Let’s just say “friend” got sloshed. They actually asked her if she was safe with me. I was impressed!
Security will make or break your event. Muthoni even enlisted the help of cops to aid in the flow of traffic and to help her staff maintain the peace.

#4. Branding
When you think of Blankets, what comes to mind? Leisure? Aye. Great music? Aye. Men dressed like they are confused? Sadly, true. But what comes to mind for me is an endless array of beautiful women! All this is her brand. When i think of reggae concerts in Kenya, what comes to mind is violence, theft, abuse of marijuana, some more violence and let’s also through in mugging for good measure! That is the brand reggae in Kenya is about. And it sucks because i am an avid reggae fan (not ragga mind you, only roots).

DSCN1871.jpg
#5. The Team
The team you work with has to be top notch! You can’t be 100% when your team is composed of lames. If you want to make your event a success, the team you work with should share in your dedication and they should be able to perform. You don’t want to work with someone who gives you faulty equipment. You need to be able to delegate and not worry about whether or not the person in question will deliver. For Boniface Mwalii and the rest of the team, every successful Blankets is another feather on their cap.

Dan Chizi Aceda tops the Reverb Nation Charts

His music, voice, lyrics and stage presence define his being. Phenomenal. Just phenomenal.

Ever been to one of Dan Chizi Aceda’s concerts? Then you would understand and even appreciate why he is currently topping the Reverb Nation Charts. It is not without hard work and natural, well natured talent.

Dan Chizi Aceda has now made it to the top of the Nairobi, Kenya Reverb Nation Charts and he clearly deserves it.

Shout out to this great artiste.

POLL: Who Is The Sexiest Socialite? Is It Huddah, Vera, Hannigan Or Waruinge?

It would seem everyone at Ghafla has been coming up with a poll of some sort. Even Nali jumped in that fray… Probably at the behest of Baba Ghafla.

But whatever the reasons, i feel they have overlooked a rather important poll that this your uncle must now attend to: just who is the hottest socialite?

Gentlemen and fappers of all ages, i wish to present you with these scrumptuous female offerings for your fapping pleasure. All i ask though is that in return you vote for who between Huddah Monroe, Verra, Hannigan and Shee Waruinge is the sexiest…

Konvict Family’s DJ Benny’s new video was shot in Kibera. Check it out

From what we’ve been seeing lately, Kibera might just be turning into a tourist attraction and the ideal site/set for hip hop music video.

International artists have been taking random tours all over the slum, meeting the residents, especially artistes that have grown in the area. The curiosity of how the locals survives with so little yet still posses so much pride for the hood, has grown among international artistes who happen to pass by Kenya, be it for concerts or other businesses.

Last year, around October, Akon performed in Kenya at what was one of the biggest concerts that year. He ofcourse came with his best deejay and fellow artist, Benny D from his recording label Konvict Records.

After Akon’s departure, Benny D hung around Kenya for a while, recording music and shooting videos with huge Kenyan artistes like Bamboo.

Benny D also recorded and shot the video of his latest single, ‘International Badman’ here in Kenya. Actually, he did it all in Kibera.

Check it out below.

Popular National TV Leads Campaign to Bring Home Body of Woman Who Died Abroad

Nothing is as painful as when a loved is misdiagnosed and consequently treated of a different ailment other than the one they are really suffering from and then they end up losing their lives. Such is the sad tale of Patricia Mwangi.

Unsatisfied by the doctors’ diagnosis, Patricia’s family resorted to seek advanced medical opinion in India. However, it turned out to be a case of too little too late as the lady passed on. Yesterday, GBS aired her story and how her family is unable to raise Ksh3.7M required to fly in Patricia’s remains from India and lay her to rest. Patricia died undergoing cancer treatment at an Indian hospital and the magement has refused to release her body until the outstanding bill is cleared.

Already, there’s a trending topic, #bringpatriciahome started by Kenyans intended to reach to well-wishers to contribute towards settling the bill. Contributions can be made via MPesa PayBill number 600100, Account NO. 0100002617271.

Makadem Organizes Free Show for Fans Before Leaving for Europe

Blankets And Wine: The Tale Of Success!

The first Blankets of the year was a huge success!

And if you missed it, you have uncle Chim’s permission to kill yourself! Nah, just kidding. Or am i?
Anyway, everyone was at Blankets for the 40th edition to witness the awesomeness that is Liquideep perform and though they experience some technical issues, they didn’t disappoint. Muthoni and her team got the tri-factor right: good music, relaxing ambiance (although to be fair this is down to mother nature) and beautiful women. The beautiful women were attracted by the other two. And with that, i must say that the turn out was mammoth! I thought the Kenyan game that was lost (same old story of garbage footy skills) would put a dent on the turnout but i was wrong.
Even Kenyan celebrities such as Shappaman, Ian Mugoya, Buddha Blaze and even Jamal Mohamed -one of Kenya’s more prolific footballers (oh the irony!) was present. As always, Blankets was the place to be for fashion forward individuals and i saw all types of fashion statements being made. From eclectic to what can only be described as gay. And for a man like me, Blankets was the place to be not just to network and enjoy music but to enjoy the variety of beautiful women. And my oh my, there were alot of beautiful women!

After Last Year’s Beef, Can Jua Cali & Mejja’s Album Save Calif Records?

Calif Records looked like it was in crisis last year when the label had to accomodate a massive exodus of artistes, most of them saying it had to do with the working conditions.

It was going to take a lot to rehabilitate the image of one of Kenya’s pioneer studios but this year looks like they are coming back with a bang. In the first quarter of this year, one of the label’s biggest artistes is releasing his album.

Jua Cali’s Genge Yajayo is mostly done and some of the singles from the record have already been released. Jua Cali also recently announced that Mejja has already started working on his second album, a follow-up to his debut, Hali Duni.

Every Mejja track has been a hit. At Jua Cali’s peak, he was the biggest artiste in the region. The walk-outs were not the worst that could have happened to Calif, but maybe they need these two albums to build up its image as the powerhouse it once was.

Gospel Singer Gloria Muliro Exposes Lesbian on Facebook

Gospel singer Gloria Muliro is a distraught lady. After witnessing an increase in the number of homosexual relationships especially on Facebook, she became gravely concerned and decided to address the issue. Here’s here message;

I want to expose some Ladies and Men on FB who are sending Love messages seeking Relationship to with follow ladies/men. It is very embarrassing, where have you ever seen a woman marrying another woman? Or a man marring a fellow man, I have never seen it or heard about it. Why are these ladies/men seeking to be loved by fellow ladies/men? I think God created a man and woman to reproduce and fill the earth and that is the word of God, against that, it is an abomination in the eyes of our Lord God.

Gloria went ahead to expose a certain who’s notorious for sending out messages to fellow ladies asking to start a relationship with them. Take a look;

THIS MESSAGE IS A LADY WHO IS SENDING TO HER FELLOW LADY.
Miracle Koneh Hello my dear, my name is miracle, I am a young single girl never married seeking for a long time relationship i am very happy to read your profile and i am interested in you, so please you can contact me true this my email {miraXXXX@yahoo. com} so that i can send you my photos and more about me kiss,

Popular Kiss 100 Presenter Eludes A Conman By A Whisker

For some time now Kiss 100’s Carol Radul has been awarding her Facebook fans with cash prizes for correctly predicting scores of matches especially in the English Premier League. What she does after the match, she picks out the person who predicted correctly and tells them she would get in touch with them via inbox to receive their money.

So, after declaring the winner, some crafty guy quickly created a Facebook account under the name of the winner and sent Radul a number via inbox to MPesa her the cash. She almost sent the cash but on second thought she realized that the instructions are the winners are not to send her their number via inbox and secondly and luckily she had seen the winner’s photo when she sent the message after Sunday’s game.

Upon counter-checking, she realized that the imposter had created the Facebook page just 21 minutes earlier! Thanks to her gut she dodged that trap. Radul asked everyone on Facebook to be extra vigilant on Facebook to be able to detect such con artists.

And Jua Cali’s New Year’s Resolution is…

2013 should be a big year for Jua Cali. Every year that he released an album always has been. And so as the release date for Genge Yajayo approaches, Willy M. Tuva asked him what his New Year resolutions are.

The question obviously caught him off-guard, “Wacha nifikirie. Wacha tu niseme, niendelee kutia bidii. Kama ni kutoa video every three months, nataka Kuhakikisha hiyo kitu inafanyika (Let me think. Let me just say, I’ll continue working hard. If I decide to release a video every three months, I’ll make sure I commit to that).”

Genge Yajayo is expected to come out in either February or March. Tracks that have already been released from the record include Geti Kali (with Sana), Kuna Sheng and Si Siri (with Juliani).

Meet the Kenyan Production Company That Will Be Doing International Videos
