A Comedian’s Perspective on Kenyan Politicians’ Peace Campaigns

Tusi-bleed ndio wa-lead is a comic perspective on peace messages that are being spread around by politicians and leaders at the moment. It is an initiative of Juliani’s Kama Si Sisi.

Renown comedian, Ayeya, meets guys from the hood and talks to them about their thoughts on the peace campaigns as we approach the elections.

One of the most profound comments that comes from the video, from Ayeya himself, is: “Peace si kuweka vidole mbili hivi. Peace si kuvaa white ki-angel. Na peace pia si nywele ki-Abuja hivi. Na pia si kutoa dush ya white kuirusha, zinapepea hivyo halafu mnasema ni amani. Tukumbuke manze motto yetu ni moja: peace, love na unity.”

Kenya’s Coast rappers unleash their new Cypher, with a hilarious beginning. Check it out

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think these rappers diss Cannibal at the beginning of the cypher. Hella funny by the way. “I hear some people say they run Mombasani…” then follows some weird infectious laughter.

These rappers are skilled. There is no doubt about that. Mombasa has always been the home of a huge fraction of Kenya’s art, mainly music and these guys are but just a taste of it.

I love everything about this cypher. The simplicity of the video, the free style mood that is in their pose, and best of it all, the introduction.

You just have to watch this to get what I mean.

Check it out below.

20 Ways To Identify A Nigerian Movie

Trust the Kenyan online community for coming up with some of the craziest stuff. This time, the online community came up with ways of identifying the so popular Nigerian movies. Take a look;

1. A man will always bleed from the mouth after being shot in the leg

2. The T.V. still makes noise even if you put it on volume 1.

3. Millionaires have a “gate Man” instead of an electric gate.

4. A flashback plays for 40 minutes.

5. A track is played in the background until the end.

6. Women wake up with makeup and ear rings in the morning.

7. A ghost first looks both sides before crossing the road

9. Qualified medical doctors always refer patients to witch doctors.

10. After shooting a character and he dies he sometimes opens his eyes not knowing the camera is still on him.

11. A dark and ugly baby grows up to be the hunk in the movie e.g. Van Vicker or Ramsey Noah

12. When an actor/actress is growing up, he/she enters an uncompleted building and comes out an adult.

13. When a police man spends fifteen minutes threatening to kill an armed robber, spends another five minutes cocking the gun (as the victim stands there watching) and then spends another ten minutes shouting, “I will kill you today,” after which he shoots his gun (the sound is often not in sequence with the trigger pull).

14. When an actor/actress carries has same hairstyle for 6 years in a movie.

Pulse Gets Dissed Badly! Superstar Reggae Deejay Takes Shots At Pulse!

It would seem Pulse is not done getting heat from different quarters. And this time it comes from this accomplished reggae deejay…

Deejay Izrael is an angry man! He took to Facebook to reach out to Ghafla to have his voice heard. And what he had to say about Pulse was anything but friendly. And this is what he had to say:

Word of Advice to the “Pulse magazine editors” Standard Newspapers…. Before you put anything on your few painted, uninformed, shallow, biased, ugly and confused pages, Pliz could you have the courtesy to call the both persons involved and get the real INFO? That’s why BUZZ inawachapa. KUDOS NATION MEDIA GROUP (Both zudka and buzz crew) and ‘WORD IS’ of THE STAR NEWSPAPER…… if you can’t beat them JOIN THEM.

To be honest i have no idea from whence thine beefeth with Pusle stemeth from but i have to say that Pulse will indeed respond with fire! Watch this space because i doubt this beef is over.

These are the four most famous Kenyan artistes in Africa

Kenya has birthed some really magnificent works of art. The kind that would effortlessly grab the attention of the entire continent, making Kenya proud in return.

These right here are the four most famous Kenyan artistes in Africa.

4. Camp Mulla

Back in 2010 and early 2011, this hip hop group consisting of three male rappers (Taio Tripper, Shappaman and K’Cous) and one female singer (Miss Karun), were only causing ripples on YouTube. When they shot their first official video ‘party don’t stop’, they transcended all musical barriers that most Kenyan artistes are yet to conquer. Soon after this, as they released more music, each better than the last and even commanding respect from the music industry all over Africa, Camp Mulla grew to what they are now. The most successful and famous Kenyan hip hop group, managing to collaborate with other huge African stars like WizKid.

3. Prezzo

Let’s just call it what it is. Before Prezzo participated in the Big Brother Africa Stargame, he was huge in East Africa. That still is a great achievement considering how hard it is to reach that level of fame and acceptance in the African music industry. By the time Prezzo was half way through the BBA reality game, Africans had already familiarized themselves with this flashy rapper. Being one of the finalists in the Stargame, and ending up as the ONE ambassador as a result incredibly boosted his fame and stats. Now, Prezzo makes entertainment news across the continent.

2. Suzzanna Owiyo

Ranked among Africa’s greatest Afro Fusion artistes like Zimbabwe’s Oliver Mtukudzi and DR Congo’s Mbilia Bel, Suzzanna Owiyo’s soulful voice has captured Africa in her musical web despite singing most of her songs in the Luo language. Performing in major concerts all over Africa and collaborating with some of it’s biggest and most loved Afro Fusion artistes has put her name where it currently is. At the top. Hell, she is even huge in the diaspora if the attendance in her concerts is anything to go by.

1. Eric Wainaina

Till date, Eric Wainaina holds the record of being the Kenyan artiste that has sold more than 2 million copies of his bestselling album, Sawa Sawa. If you are familiar with the hardships that come with making album sales in Kenya, better yet East Africa, then you know what an achievement this is. After the 1998 bombing brought Kenya to its knees, Eric’s song ‘Kenya Only’ which was released a while after, gave Kenyans hope for a brighter day, making it a favorite for many. By this time, he had already captured Africa’s attention.
Eric Wainaina gained worldwide fame after he produced Kenya’s most successful musical, ‘Mo Faya’ which played at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Not forgetting all the great collaboration he has done with other great African artistes.

Hard-Hitting Open Letter To KTN’s Str8-Up Show

In response to yesterday’s Ghafla Poll on the hottest music show on TV, one of the readers had some scores to settle with KTN’s Str8-Up. According to him, Str8-Up would be his choice for the best show but not anymore as he prefers Teen Republik. Here’s is his argument;

Hi, am writing to express my concerns to whoever it may concern on the show #str8-up.. First to begin with, i would like to acknowledge the death of str8-up show which literally died last year around November has now been struggling to exist as it awaits its burial. Back in the days str8-up used to be the best music show to watch as one relaxes in the evening after a hard work & tiresome day, until u replaced it “XL Magharibi”,the show used to be lively and the hosts were perfect not until the hosts started behaving as if they are forced to be on air. Now what we have on str8-up is a recorded show which z played at night yet u guys take as fools by trying to tell us the show is live,, not even a class 1 Kid can buy that crap. From a show where the fans always requested 4 songs which were played nowadays the DJ decide on the songs to play and record them to be played at night telling people it’s a live show. The show used to be the best with super-fan Fridays an even lots of giveaways in the show but nowadays the show can’t be compared to other music shows like “The Beat” and “Teen Republik” and now even “live on Blas” which is always “down” is now way above str8-up in fact the show can now only be compared to shows like “Kikwetu” on KBC not even “Tafrija” coz its way above your game.. NB am not a hater of str8-up but a concerned diehard fan of str8-up that’s y i didn’t diss str8-up.

Ever Wanted Your Callers to Hear “Nye Nye Nye” When They Call You? Here’s How You Can Make it Happen

It was last year’s unlikeliest hit. A previously cringe-inducing listen, Nye Nye Nye is now the party anthem of the moment.

Chapa/Fimbo Ya Pili, the second in the Grandpa Family’s annual Fimbo series, became one of the year’s biggest hits and is one of the most played tracks on radio right now.

The track by the Grandpa Records’ DNA, TL-Moh, Ng’ang’alito, Shamir, Dogo Biggie, Fisherman, Warda and Pizzo is currently available for purchase as a ringtone. Just send 4030 to 6007. You can also make the same track your Skiza tune by sending SKIZA 8020203 to 811.

This is For All K24 “Connect” Show Lovers

It’s the first show on Kenyan TV that practically helps you sort out all your bedroom matters. It’s for this reason that K24’s “Connect” has become a popular show especially among the mature audience. Thanks to the show’s admiration, Comedy Club’s JB and his crew thought they want to show you how to “connect”.

Calling it, “Konnect – The Cooking Show”, the “ladies” show you how to make stuffed chicken with sausages. They pride in being the only show where you are shown all the uses of “cock”, not cocaine but coco (whatever that is). Take a look at the crazy clip below to get what I mean;

This is Where DNA is Taking Fimbo Next

Attention HipHop Heads! This Track Is A Must Listen!

For those of you with your noses in Kenya’s hiphop scene, Kayvo KForce is a man who needs no introduction.

But B-Reign? I have to admit that i myself didn’t know him prior to my getting me mitts on this jam. But now that i have, i have to say that i am looking forward to hearing his previous works and those he’ll  come up with in the future.

The track in question though is called “Welcome to Nai” is quite the listen. I liked the two rappers flow and delivery and the video quality was also above par. I would have liked to see more of Nairobi in the video though, not just the front of MacMillan Library -afterall, the track is an ode to Nairobi city.

The lasses singing the hook in the video seem to be having fun doing their thing but they aren’t convincing. They don’t look like they are actually singing the hook. But that’s only as far as the video goes. The refrain is actually sang by one lass and her voice is indeed beautiful but that then raises the question of why she wasn’t allowed to showcase it a little more. B-Reign should have let the lass’ voice breath a little more instead of just sing, :Hey! Hey homie/ Welcome to Nai”

I also suspect that Kayvo KForce did his verse a while back… He compares himself to Manny “You Wanna Go Night Night?” Pacquiao. Couldn’t help but share this:

But all in all, the lyrical prowess in this track is heavy, Mayweather heavy! They deliver line after line with self-assured skill that betrays the fact that this hiphop game is nothing to them, they’ve seen it all and done it all.

If you like heavy lyrics and catchy instrumentals, this jam is for you!

Who’s The Richest Celeb in Kenya Between Jaguar & Muthoni DQ?

Earlier today Mista Majani did a piece declaring Muthoni Drummer Queen the wealthiest female celeb in Kenya. However, some of you argued that Ksh. 15M is quite a figure and that after some deductions resulting from settling artists’ fees, ground charges, sound, city council and all, she still can’t be the top earning celeb in Kenya.

So ladies and gentlemen, I give you Jaguar. I can convincingly declare that the “Matapeli” hitmaker is the most affluent entertainer in Kenya. Take a look at his fortunes;

1. Owns a fleet of cabs called “Jagz Cabs”

2. Possesses a motor garage in industrial area

3. Four cars worth KShs.20M.

4. Contracts with key corporates like EABL, Safaricom and Unilever which earns him upto KShs.18M for a half-year contract deal. This would mean that Jaguar’s contracts alone can get him up to KES 3 million a month for six consecutive months.

5. KShs.15M home

6. Music performances where he gets about KShs.300,000 per appearance

7. Matatu fleet plying several routes in Nairobi.

8. Owns the Response Security Co. Ltd.

9. A couple of rental houses.

Sometime in June last year Jaguar told a local magazine that he imported a pendant that cost him about KShs.400,000. “Kenyan artistes should have a sense of class. If you are driving a big car, why do you wear a cheap chain? You even go ahead to purchase a fake, which looks like my original?” he posed.

From all these fortune, Jaguar is arguably Kenya’s Jay Z.

A peace message for Kenyans from one of our celebrities

This morning, this is what Deejay Perlexy had to say to his fellow countrymen.

PEACE + GOOD LEADERSHIP = A MOVING NATION.

I remember the events of the post elections violence as if it were yesterday, the riots, gunshots & tear gas, hiking of prices for essential commodities, paralyzed transport and all other negative occurrences that did not bring this country to a stand still but rather some steps behind, all in all i cannot afford to forget the words uttered by a police officer in a quest to ease the riots and i quote ”HII KENYA TUMEIJENGA KWA SIKU NYINGI SANA, KWA NINI TUIHARHBU KWA SIKU MOJA?” How i wish the media houses could play this footage everyday just before the news and in the middle of soap operas. Can you imagine of a situation were you have worked so hard throughout your life then you end up loosing the fruits of your hard work as a result of a preventable occurrence that took place withing a very short time?

In a quest to seek public opinion on the kind of Kenya we want to see as from March 5th, I took it upon myself to summon some of my neighbours. They all knew that the solution to our problems as a country comes from within us, change begins with you as an individual before spreading to others, this reminded me of the ‘kutabadilishwa na nani kama si sisi?’ slogan and i came up with an ‘i don’t know’ answer. All of them wanted to see a prosperous Kenya with PEACE (Bold,Underline,Italicise) and Good leadership being the major requirements needed to drive us to a higher level.

They were right my dear friends. We can only attain Good leadership by voting wisely, this will lead to an improvement in our infrastructure, Improved health care, Increased employment, Better & quality education, Improved living conditions (slum eradication) and many others. In this case you will find that every solved problem brings a solution to another problem. Think about it!

On the other hand we have to advocate for peace EVERYWHERE in a tell your neighbour, to tell your neighbour, to tell your neighbour’s neighbour situation, let PEACE be the ‘gossip’ of the town coz Kenya is yearning for PEACE before, during and after the general elections for the elections will come and go same case to politicians but KENYA IS HERE TO STAY. Let’s avoid the spread of hate speech and instead let as spread peace messages everywhere be it social, print, electronic or even verbal media so that we can reach a very wide audience. Furthermore let us learn to accept the outcome of the elections regardless the differences in our political opinion, tribe or even social status. Let us remember to involve God in this mission disregarding how you call Him.
‘May we dwell in UNITY, PEACE and LIBERTY…’
God Bless Kenya + Kenyans as we maintain Peace.

#No_Peace_No_Kenya
#Napenda_Kenya_Wakenya_na_Amani
#VoterVsVulture

Yours Kenyan,

Uhuru Kenyatta’s Media Company Gets New Boss

Former Milele FM CEO Granton Samboja has been named the holder of newly created Mediamax Group Executive Director position. This move automatically displaces Paul Wanyagah as the boss. Wanyagah was the chief operating officer at Standard Group before joining Mediamax.

Samboja rose to fame during his stint at Royal Media Services’ Citizen Radio before leaving to start his own radio station, Milele FM. However when DPM Uhuru Kenyatta bought the radio station, Samboja had to be taken on board.

Mediamax which is owned by Uhuru Kenyatta is the mother company of the People Daily newspaper, Milele FM, Kameme FM, K24 TV and Meru FM.

Harry Kimani releases a new song. Check it out

I remember back in the day when Harry Kimani was at his peak. I just couldn’t wait for him to release his next track almost immediately I had finished hearing his latest one for the first time.

Harry Kimani is now back, resurrecting his name from the controversies that covered it a while back. His voice more beautiful than ever before. Guess you can take the guy from the music but not the music from the guy.

He just released his latest track titled ‘Children of the Universe’ two days ago and I already can’t get enough of this track. He still got it. Sauti ya kutoa nyoka pangoni.

Here is Harry Kimani’s latest track, still fresh from release.

PRESENTING: Kenya’s Richest Female Celebrity(And no, it’s not Size 8)

So reports have been flying around that Size 8 is now the highest paid celebrity in Kenya. This stems from the numerous contracts she was awarded by various large corporate entities last year, from Safaricom to Royal Media Services.

Well, I’m now here to correct that misconception. The richest female celebrity in Kenya is not Size 8, but Muthoni the Drummer Queen. She gets there by virtue of her Blankets and Wine business. Let’s crunch the numbers, shall we?

So according to various reports, the January Blankets and Wine event brought together 6,000 upper classmen of Nairobi. Advance tickets were 1,300 KShs., while at the gate, you’d pay 2,000 to enter. Average that:

(1,300 + 2,000)/2 = 1650 KShs.

Then, to get a rough estimate of Blankets’ gate revenue, lets multiply the average ticket price by the total number of attendants:

1,650 X 6000 = 9.9 million Kenya Shillings

That’s one month alone. Of gate fees only. But Blankets doesn’t just make money from gate tickets. It’s a platform business, and the Leisure Grounds are the platform. Everyone, except the performing artists, must pay to get on the platform. That means that, apart from the revellers, they also charge the tents and sponsors to attend the event. Assuming tent and sponsor fees as 50% of revenue, we can estimate Blankets and Wine to make approximately

15 Million Shillings Per Month

There is absolutely NO OTHER female celeb with a cashflow source like that in Kenya.

Ghafla POLL: Which Music Show Is The Hottest In Kenya? The Beat, Str8 Up, Teen Republik Or Mseto East Africa?

Ladies and gents, frogs and toads, it’s about that time! It’s voting time and we at Ghafla are going to give you a say!

Which of these shows do you feel fully represents you? Between Tamima and Ian Mugoya’s Straight Up, DJ Pinye’s The Beat, Wily M. Tuva’s Mseto East Africa and Lil Oreo and Anto Neosoul’s Teen Republik.

KTN’s Straight Up has undergone alot of changes including a switch in timing but it has always somehow managed to remain relevant. It now shows in the dead of night (seriously though, whoever made this change doesn’t understand Kenyan youth!). NTV has both Teen Republik which is new and a fresh breath of air to our viewing experience and The Beat which has held it down for a number of years but is unfortunately late to catch on trends and new music. Mambo Mseto airs on Citizen and Wily M. Tuva has brought his hype for new and fresh East African jams along with him.

But now you get to have your say.

Are you feeling:

Straight Up

Mseto East Africa

The Beat

Teen Republik

Photo Gallery: How the MPs State Funeral went down today

CNN 2008 African Photojournalist of the year award winner, Boniface Mwangi today led the Kenyan citizens in the parading and burning down of coffins meant to signify the end of impunity among other ‘vulture’ traits of the MPs of the 10th Parliament.

A lot of Kenyan citizens participated in this demonstration, dubbed ‘The State Burial‘ which took place today (16th January) from 10AM to 1PM. The demonstration commenced from Uhuru Park, as they carried coffins and flags across the CBD to Parliament’s gate, where they burned the coffins.

No violence was experienced during this demonstration.

Take a look at some of the photos.

Kenzo Unveils His New Look (Photos)

As he will be launching the video of his song “Matatu” today, I could not help notice his new look. Kenzo seems to have polished up things as far as his looks his concerned. Could this be an indication of what to anticipate from him this year? Take a look;

What do you think about Kenzo’s new look?

Khaligraph Jones releases his latest track featuring a huge Ugandan rapper

When Khaligraph Jones first dropped his first song, or rather appeared in his first collaboration track, it was clear that he was destined for great heights in music. I still think that this guy will soon be blowing up alongside international rappers.

He knows no rest from music, probably why and how he has managed to collaborate with so many East African rappers and record so many tracks. Khaligraph Jones has that one of a kind flow that makes any song he is featured in sound good.

So, as his first track this year, Jones has released ‘Get Down’, which is a collaborative effort with Ugandan rapper The Mith from the hip hop group Klear Kut.

Get to listen to the track below, which was, by the way, just released yesterday.

Check it out.

HipHop Scandal: Has Bamboo Stolen GidiGidi-MajiMaji’s Flow?

The ever diligent Jeff Omondi beat me to the story about Jubilee using Gidi Gidi Maji Maji’s track or something similar to it.

But you know i just had to weigh in. When i last wrote about an artist biting flow and lyrics, my cousins called me to let me have it! And boy did they! I got calls from relations i’ve only spoken to on Facebook even! All of them told me to stop supporting Kenyan music against “home” music because “I fall am hand!”. That loosely translates to me letting them down. That was tough. But given that this time it’s happened in Kenya’s own backyard, i suspect that the blowback will be explosive.

Bamboo is a rapper of repute. He is also schooled to the tenets of hiphop. Thus, he is fully aware to just how big a cardinal sin it is to either bite someone’s flow or jack their lyrics without acknowledging them. Gidi Gidi and Maji Maji have taken offense. As a purist hiphop head, i’ve taken offense. But most of all, as a Bamboo fan, i am feeling let down. I can understand wanting to cash in on the politics of the day but to do so in what i consider a lazy manner is just wrong! This amounts to swagger jacking for goodness sake!

And i’m pretty peeved because Uncle Chim Tuna was hyped about Bamboo’s return! I was looking forward to that heat! The fire he had in his chest when he held the mic was undeniable. The lyrical prowess he had when he would spit his with such fierce intensity! And now he has swagger jacked “Unbwogable”! Unforgivable!
I am disilusioned! Heart broken, bereft even!

{youtube}DcIDTiqzJ0s{/youtube}
Come on Bamboo, this is a plea from one of your biggest fans, get back to giving us that heat. Ghafla has nothing to do with this, this is all Uncle Chim Tuna. You gave us a couple of hits immediately after “Mama Africa” and we have enjoyed everyone of them. Keep that fire burning.
And for anyone not in the know, this is the song i’m reffering to (it’s way down there):

Hilarious: Karate Made in Kenya (video)

For once you can now enjoy a locally-produced karate movie. Known as “Gicagi”, this is the first ever produced karate movie in Kenya.

With Muchiri Philip “Mentor” as the star, the movie runs for one and a half hours. It is based on a real village life of a young man, Kebanga (Phillip Muchiri) who encounters the bullies of the village, making his life a living heal. This however changes after he acquires karate skills.

A day is then set for the grand-fight (Kumite) and as expected, there can only be one champion in the village… Kebanga. After watching the trailer you’ll concur that the movie is very funny especially the sound effects. Take a look at it below;

International gospel artist claims he was conned by Kenyan promoter

December wasn’t quite a festive season for International gospel singer, Anthony Faulkner. After visiting Kenya and even collaborating with one of it’s best gospel artistes, Juliani, Faulkner fell in love with the country ever since, hence the frequent visits.

However, he was very disappointed by one of the promoters of his latest concert in Kenya. Anthony Faulkner told sources that a promoter by the name of Peter Mulei conned him a gudu one. He claims that from the moment he arrived in Kenya for his concert which was to be held on the 16th of December 2012, Peter Mulei kept raising the cost of equipments and services to be rendered for the concert, even going as far as charging him double and at times even triple the price he is required to pay.

“Once I flew in to Nairobi there were people who kept dropping hints that there was some shady business going on with Peter. Once we confronted him because so much kept changing he said that he only was asking for monies that he needed for the event and nothing more. Well we found out that he was charging me double/sometimes triple what the cost were for various items, lights, sound, printing, putting up posters, and artwork. If it were not for my road manager Carl Foster the show would not have been what it was. Peter had nothing organised. Peter presented so many false receipts without official stamps on them, he presented so many fake artiste agreements on the last day that were signed by one person because all the handwriting technique is the same on all of them! What is very insulting is that he thinks he is clever,” Anthony Faulkner told sources.

All the accused had to say about this was, “I’m surprised by what Anthony is accusing me of doing. But I think he is just looking for publicity. He even accused me of buying a car using the money. I’m really disappointed in him.”

And The Winner Of Ghafla’s POLL On The Sexiest Socialite Is…

Gentlemen and fappers alike, it’s time to announce the winner of yesterdays poll.

Yesterdays poll sought to see just who Kenyan lads feel the sexiest socialite is between the delectable Lois Hannigan, shapely Shee Waruinge, my personal favourite; scrumptuous Huddah Monroe and voloptuous Vera Sidika.

Chege Cege the wiz behind our social media push was rooting for Shee Waruinge. He was firmly behind her all the way -pun intended. Sadly, she came up short off the required votes.

As i noted earlier, i was rooting for the lass that gets me hot and bothered -Huddah Monroe. And i made sure my voice was heard. Unfortunately, she came up as the 2nd runner up. It would seem Uncle Chim Tuna doesn’t always get his way with women. Tragic! She garnered 20.8% of the votes.

Baba Ghafla was the steward of Team Hannigan. He had been in a voting frenzy yesterday. But even as influential as he is, he couldn’t get his birthday wish. Lois Hannigan came up just short of being the winner. And when i say she came up short i mean that this was a close race. She managed 32.8% of the tallied votes.

Poll

Our winner gentlemen and fappers is voloptuous Vera! It would seem the lasses buxom bottom is a firm fav of our fapping community. She managed 41.2% of the 500+ tallied votes. She only has “Roxxxie” to thank for her slim win over Lois Hannigan whom most of you felt was classy and sophisticated. Don’t you just love how much assets weigh in on such polls? Congratulations are in order for Vera.

This is the hottest cypher this year thus far

Another year, new series of cyphers coming right up. Our rappers never slack on the job, one of the reasons why I’minlove with the Kenyan hip hop industry.

It has never been simple with them ever since they started on the cyphers. Everybody wants to do their own and ofcourse, also want to emerge at the top. Keeping the competition alive and the beat kicking.

The first cypher this year has just been released and is burning hot. Titled ‘125-The Cypher’, it is one of those straight hip hop beat tracks that maintain the bumping of the head through out the session.

Three rappers made this happen. They go by the names Ace The Done, Mr. C and Dan.

Check out the video for the cypher below.

Jaguar Reveals His Preferred Governor

As the elections draw closer every day, most celebs tend to lean towards particular politicians as a way of endorsing their candidature. Already, some have declared publicly where they pledge their allegiance. For instance, Ringtone, Chiwawa, Bamboo and Abbas have thrown their support behind the Jubilee Coalition.

This morning in what may be interpreted as backing Nairobi gubernatorial  aspirant, businessman Jimnah Mbaru, singer Jaguar tweeted saying that he has a feeling that the prominent entrepreneur, “………have a feeling Jimnah Mbaru can be a good Governor,” tweeted Jaguar. This comes just two days after the “Vigeugeu” hit maker denied claims that he had endorsed the Jubilee Coalition presidential candidate, Uhuru Kenyatta, after he performed at the coalition’s rally.

Jaguar has in the past steered clear of politics maintaining that even though he has politician friends Mike Sonko and Joshua Kuttuny, he has no intention of plunging into politics.

21 Movies You Need To See in 2013

2012 was the year of Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Liam Neeson.

We said goodbye to a vampire clan and a bat dressed in black, and three films brought in more than a billion dollars each (The Avengers, TDKR, and Bond).

While its uncertain whether 2013 will bring another billion dollar movie, there are contenders from Disney and Lionsgate hoping to hit that mark with a trip to Oz and a girl on fire.

What other films should you look forward to in the next 12 months?

We’ve sifted through all of the movies coming out in 2013 and have chosen the most-anticipated films of the year.

Whether you’re a horror nut, a superhero fiend, looking for a few laughs, or are a serious film aficionado, there’s something here for everyone.

“Gangster Squad”

"Gangster Squad"

Gangster Squad

Release Date: January 11

Why to see it:

Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, and Ryan Gosling as gangsters.

After the shooting in Aurora, Colorado at a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” in July Warner Bros. postponed the film until the new year. It then underwent a reshoot due to the controversial shoot up of a theater at the movie’s end. It’s unsure how a re-edit affected the final outcome, but the film was highly anticipated before its push back to January.

Plus, it will be the first time we see Emma Stone and Gosling reunite onscreen since “Crazy, Stupid, Love.

“A Good Day To Die Hard”

"A Good Day To Die Hard"

screencap

Release Date: February 14

Why to see it:

We don’t care if its the fifth film in the “Die Hard” franchise. If Bruce Willis is in it taking down helicopters and bad guys, we’re sold.

Also, if men are looking for a perfect film to bring the girlfriend to for Valentine’s Day, you’re going to want to see the “007 of South Plainfield.”

“Oz: The Great and Powerful”

"Oz: The Great and Powerful"

Disney

Release Date: March 8

Why to see it:

James Franco’s Oscar host privileges may be revoked; however, there’s no denying the actor’s talents lighting up both the big screen and the small

With the winning combination of Sam Raimi – the mind behind the original Spider-Man trilogy –  and the production designer from “Alice in Wonderland,” Disney hopes for Oz to follow in the footsteps of its billion dollar film

“The Evil Dead”

"The Evil Dead"

Sony Pictures

Release Date: April 12

Why to see it:

Though there’s the much-anticipated remake of “Carrie” in March, “Evil Dead” creator Bruce Campbell had us convinced at New York Comic Con that the “Evil Dead” reboot would not only be true to its 1981 roots, but equally terrifying.

If the film’s anything like the gruesome trailer, than Campbell’s will have made well on his promise.

Watch the red band trailer

“Iron Man 3”

Release Date: May 3

Why to see it:

This looks like the darkest Stark film yet – we’ve never seen Iron Man so brutally battered and blown up in a trailer.

Ben Kingsley will be playing the main villain – the mysterious ring-wielding (Asian?) Mandarin. But, don’t expect him to be the only bad guy. We’re not apt to believe Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian is a friendly scientist.

Watch the trailer

“The Great Gatsby”

Release Date: May 10

Why to see it:

By the time “The Great Gatsby” comes to theaters, we’ll have waited an extra five months for what was originally slated as a Christmas 2012 release.

And, it looks worth the wait.

The second trailer for the film based on the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald story, had us in a trance wanting more of the teased chemistry between a lovelorn Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan).

With Baz Luhrmann behind the driver’s seat (“Moulin Rouge,” “Romeo + Juliet”) and Jay-Z signed on to produce the score for the film, we can’t wait to see what Gatsby’s lavish parties have in store.

Watch the first trailer

“Star Trek Into Darkness”

Release Date: May 17

Why to see it:

Trekkies have been waiting three years for the sequel to J.J. Abrams “Star Trek.”

Not only does the film look darker – the world looks all but destroyed in the first trailer – but it’s looking more and more likely that Khan is the villain, despite actor Benedict Cumberbatch’s role being revealed as a virtually unknown (red herring) John Harrison

Watch the trailer

“The Hangover III”

Release Date: May 24

Why to see it:

We were disappointed when the sequel to the original was essentially a carbon copy of the first film. Though we may receive much of the same in the final installment – if the formula ain’t broke, don’t fix it – we can’t deny wanting to see Chang back as a cop(?) and to find out John Goodman’s role.

We’d also like to know what’s going on with the pig masks.

“This is the End”

"This is the End"

Sony / Columbia Pictures

Release Date: June 14

Why to see it:

Move aside “Hangover” gang. If the movie about the end of the world is anything like the trailer, the film featuring Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill and more as, what appears to be themselves, should be one of the funniest films of 2013.

Seriously, the cast of actors alone should have you sold: Paul Rudd, Michael Cera, Jason Segel, Mindy Kaling, Kevin Hart, Danny McBride, and Emma Watson (really).

Watch the NSFW red band trailer

“Man of Steel”

"Man of Steel"

Warner Brothers

Release Date: June 14

Why to see it:

300” and “Watchman” fans will want to see Zack Synder’s recreation of the classic superhero. And, Batman fans have something to be excited for as well since “Dark Knight Trilogy” director Christopher Nolan helped write the script.

After Superman’s failed return to the big screen in 2006, the latest incarnation of the son of Krypton can only go up with Henry Cavill (“The Tudors”) at the helm.

Watch the trailer

“Monsters University”

"Monsters University"

Disney / Pixar

Release Date: June 21

Why to see it:

We weren’t excited by the idea of a prequel to “Monsters Inc.” instead of a sequel – who wouldn’t want to see Boo again?

However, “Cars 2” aside, when is the last time Pixar has led us astray?

“The Lone Ranger”

Release Date: July 3

Why to see it:

Disney has a lot banking on “The Lone Ranger.” The film underwent several re-writesdelays, budget issues, and a cancellation scare, making some wonder whether it will be Disney’s next “John Carter.”

Between the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series and “Alice in Wonderland,” Johnny Depp hasn’t steered the Mouse House wrong yet. And, it’s always a plus to see Depp in a new, colorful getup.

“Despicable Me 2”

"Despicable Me 2"

Universal

Release Date: July 3

Why to see it:

What’s better than an action film revolving around a superhero? An animated movie centered around a super villain.

Three years after the original film came out, crane machines at amusement parks are still filled with the loveable yellow minions of Steve Carell’s super villain Gru.

“Pacific Rim”

Release Date: July 11

Why to see it:

If you’re looking for the next big monster blockbuster, this may be it.

2013 will see a lot of movies coming out about the earth’s end: “After Earth,” “World War Z,” and “Oblivion,” however, it’s Guillermo del Toro’s futuristic science fiction flick about an alien attack on Earth that’s receiving a lot of buzz.

What’s so different about this film? Well, for one thing, the humans aren’t running away with their tails between their legs.

Watch the trailer

“The Wolverine”

Release Date: July 26

Why to see it:

After seeing Hugh Jackman reprise his Wolverine character briefly in an “X-Men: First Class” cameo, we’re ready to see the actor back reprising his signature role.

This film will be based on a limited 1982 series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, following the character’s trip to Japan to train with a samurai.

“Thor: The Dark World”

"Thor: The Dark World"

Disney

Release Date: November 8

Why to see it:

Iron Man isn’t the only Marvel superhero getting a sequel treatment this year.

The sequel to 2011’s “Thor” will also continue where “The Avengers” left off with the hero battling Dark Elves. If the film gives us a moment like the horse one from the first, then we’ll be satisfied. Plus, Tom Hiddleston will be back as Loki.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"

Release Date: November 22

Why to see it:

Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) is thrown back into the games she won in the first film alongside Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).

The second book in Suzanne Collins trilogy is probably the best in the series, and it introduces fan-favorite Finnick who will be played by Sam Claflin from “Snow White and the Huntsman.”

Plus, you get to see the “most desirable woman” of the year onscreen.

“Frozen”

"Frozen"

Disney

Release Date: November 27

Why to see it:

This is the last animated film we’ll include on this list.

Disney’s put out an impressive animated film list in the past few years (“Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph”), so much, that we were bigger fans of “Ralph” than “Brave” in the past year.

So, we wouldn’t be surprised if Disney’s 53rd animated film “Frozen,” based on the children’s tale The Snow Queen, makes waves as well – especially since one of the screenwriters of “Wreck-It Ralph,” Jennifer Lee, joined the film as a co-director.

“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”

"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"

Warner Bros. / MGM

Release Date: December 13

Why to see it:

The rising and falling actions of the book involving the main villain of the children’s tale, Smaug the dragon, will occur in the second of the three-part film.

If you know anything about, Smaug, the dragon has never been depicted on screen other than in outdated animated adaptations of the book.

Plus, Benedict Cumberbatch – the villain of the new “Star Trek” film – will voice the dragon.

“Anchorman: The Legend Continues”

"Anchorman: The Legend Continues"

Release Date: December 20

Why to see it:

We’re not sure there are many other reasons to want to see this film other than the channel four news team finally reassembling. Oh, and hopefully the return of jazz flute, Wes Mantooth (Vince Vaughn), and another cameo by Jack Black.

Watch the trailer

“The Butler”

Release Date: TBD

Why to see it:

The Weinstein Company acquired the film about the life of a White House butler (Forrest Whitaker) and his family over the course of eight presidencies which is already receiving Oscar buzz for NEXT year.

The film has some serious star power featuring John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Robin Williams, and Marsden as former U.S. presidents, Melissa Leo and Jane Fonda as first ladies, and Oprah as Whitaker’s wife.

After 2012’s success of “The Master,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” and “Django Unchained,” we’re excited to see what TWC has in store for the new year.

Jubilee Coalition Allegedly Plagiarized Gidi Gidi Maji Maji’s Unbwogable Hit

It now emerges that the song that the Uhuru-Ruto led coalition, Jubilee Alliance, has been pirated from Gidi Gidi and Maji Maji’s hit song, “Unbwogable”. Speaking to Ghafla! Gidi complained that the song used by the Jubilee Coalition is a copy of their 2002 hit song.

He argues that the song’s idea, flow and theme is a reproduction of “Unbwogable” that was used by NARC party as its theme song during the 2002 general elections. However, the Jubilee Coalition has maintained that the song is its origination production and does not sound in any way like “Unbwogable”. The Jubilee version was done by K-South rappers, Bamboo and Abbas.

Gidi Gidi and Maji Maji have threatened to take legal action against Jubilee Coalition adding that the only person with rights to the song is producer Ted Josiah.

This is not the first time that an artist is complaining that politicians are using their songs without their consent as barely a fortnight ago, GrandPa Records warned that it would be seeking legal redress if any politician used DNA’s hit songs without acquiring them in the right manner.

Listen to the song that Gidi and Maji claim that Jubilee Coalition bootlegged below;
