Lagos’ Heavy Traffic Also Contributed To Goldie’s Death

Turns out that Kenyans are not the only people suffering from congestion of cars on the roads. Our Nigerian brothers have it way worse. Our Uncle Chim Tuna is now left with no choice but to deal with the situation as it is.

It has now been revealed that Goldie’s death may have also been caused by traffic that was partly as a result of the Valentine festivities on the night she died (14th February).

“Although Bimpe (Goldie) appeared energetic and happy all her life, on February 14, 2013, she complained of headache which led to her death. Her last words were with her father when she snatched the phone from her brother and asked that she wanted to talk to daddy. While crying about a splitting headache, she asked for prayer support. Alas she went into a coma almost immediately and died on the way to hospital due to the Valentine traffic” a sad and heartbroken Joshua (Goldie’s younger brother) told a Nigerian website.

Goldie was laid to rest a day ago.

Socialite Pendo Endorses Uhuru Kenyatta For Presidency

Remember Pendo of the Willy Paul Saga? Well, she’s the latest Kenyan celebrity to come out and vocalise her support for Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency.

The attractive lass took to Facebook to declare that her DNA is TNA and that she even took to toasting team TNa’s huge cars by posting the photo below:

When i attempted to reach her for a comment, she was unavailable. Seems team Uhuru knows how to attract artists to it’s camp!

1FM’s Tina Kagia Set To Get Married! We Unveil Her Fiance!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have just had quite the chat with Tina Kagia about her recently changed relationship status. Not only did she cross the line from being single, she is now engaged!

And what’s more, today morning she posted a date on her facebook page; 11/12/13. That is possibly the wedding date. We then called her fiance – Nathan who also happens to be J.B Masanduku, her co-host.

I have had a torrid time in the past writing about Tina Kagia’s relationship statuses so i had to take things slow when writing this story up. I called J.B Masanduku who confirmed everything.

I am heartbroken. I wish her luck nonetheless. And good stuff J.B!

Kriss Eh Baba and company pull a ‘Tahidi High’ stunt on their latest video

Kriss Eh Baba is the dude with the crazy, hilarious lyrics and flow, that somehow manage to carry meaningful messages. It is guys like Kriss Eh Baba and Kelele Takatifu that brought fun into the Kenyan gospel music industry.

This time round, Kriss has been featured in the latest gospel hit track. The song belongs to S.O.C and is titled ‘Bila Yesu’. The titled already tells you what the song is all about.

The concept of the video is really interesting and it got me on the replay tab. They adapted a ‘Tahidi High’ comic feel on this entire video and it manages to bring out that hilariously pre-mature flow.

Check out the video below. If you are a Kriss Eh Baba fan, you’ll love this.

Brilliant A Capella Tribute to Mercy Myra

AnnieSoul (Annette Oduor) was born and raised in Nairobi who performs as a vocalist and pianist but is also a songwriter and producer.

According to her Website, “she serves up her unique take on a Swahili (sometimes Luo)-laden, socially conscious neo-soul sound, doused in African rhythms, with just the right tinge of jazz (aka Afro Soul). Drawing on her experiences in Nairobi, and across the continent, AnnieSoul has come to embody the cosmopolitan and multicultural nature of her hometown.”

She has racked up an enviable resume with a slew of covers made over the last one year, most of them a capella. Below is a medley of songs she covered as a tribute to Kenyan music legend Mercy Myra that would definitely make Ghafla!’s list of the best cover songs.

“I have always wanted to pay homage to Mercy Myra who is a very great and talented Kenyan vocalist. Somehow, this all fell into place while doing this Kenyan Cover Songs series. So here are a few of her classics and her new hit, glad to have the queen back. Please do enjoy.”

Open Letter To Madharau Mirfat

After Friday’s episode of Tujuane, a new celeb was unveiled but thanks to her outlandish attitude on the show, Mirfat or Madharau Mirfat (if you like it) has received so much reproach on social sites from memes to some horrible dance routine.

Unperturbed, Mirfat yesterday came out claiming that Tujuane is a fake show that follows a script and few hours ago Tujuane was quick to issue a statement about the allegation. That aside, it seems guys are not done with Mirfat as this morning some anonymous guy did an open letter to her.

Take a look;

Dear “Diva”Mirfti [sic],

You know very well that you met George (your date for that day) and that you are just a random person that he happened to have the ungracious apathy to meet on that particular random day. (I watched Tujuane Show on KTN…I witnessed, NI kama ndrama, Ni kama Vindeo)

George showed you the basic formal respect like any normal educated human being would show and in return what did he get? A humiliating and disrespectful sneer from your mouth. Ati “am a diva…You don’t tell a diva what to do…” Diva ni sabuni na sabuni huisha. Did you know that the word Diva is just a female version of a hustler?

Did you really think that while you made the diva statement, we all would say you have class? Girl, Class is permanent (which you don’t have) and status is temporary (that’s where you belong). Classy women call themselves “Lady” and not Diva.

You also claimed that George’s English and Kiswahili is below par yet Nyani haoni Kundule…your English is just average. You need to polish your accent (go for accent coaching). And your Kiswahili is PA-THE-TIC! Lol! Ati you come from Coast? (usiwaharibie wapwani Lugha yao!!)

This Letter is about you and your arrogance and how not to cross your limits with men or any other person for that matter. And when you finally realized that you lost your argument, you shamelessly excused yourself by paying the bill with a 1000 bob!!!!. Diva, plastic money is not for ghetto people! It the modern way to pay bills!…be digital!!!

I am happy to humiliate you because you deserve every word I have said, but none of these words are rude but strong enough to pierce your icy arrogance. The next time you decide to speak your mind without thinking in front of words, I’m sure you will remember me and my words.

Yours Most Truly,

A Concerned Man

Ghetto Radio Is Now Going For The Uptown, “Barbie” Market (PHOTOS)

Initially Ghetto radio was dedicated exclusively to the lower class Kenyans, with the aim to reach the ghetto audience, especially the youth and make a positive change through it all.

With this in mind, Maji Maji has been hiring youths from difficult backgrounds, uplifting their spirits and confidence, while at the same time giving them a chance that no other media house would ever present to them. What Maji Maji has done for the Ghetto Radio crew is breathtaking and admirable but then again, there comes a time when a company has to go after the big bucks even if it has to go against its slogan.

Ghetto radio is now going for the “barbies” in uptown. The “ghetto” audience is just not enough anymore as they are now working on bringing on-board a very different type of clientele.

As you can now see, Ghetto Radio is now advertising in uptown hoods. This right here is in Runda, just behind Village Market.

So Who’s Lying Between Mirfat And Tujuane?

Mirfat took to twitter and claimed Tujuane is staged. Tujuane took to Facebook to dispel this story. They took the time to post a story about the same. But that does nothing to dispel the doubts. And the thing about these rumours is that it raises two big questions;

Is Mirfat really as conceited as we saw? I cannot wrap my mind around a lass being that dreadful to a lad. that is nearly unfathomable. But not entirely unbelievable. I have dealt with some girls who were a complete pain. Madharau Mirfat though takes the cake.

The second question is, why are they trying to defending Mirfat if the show wasn’t staged? if the show is unscripted, Mirfat is responsible for her own actions so defending her for being such a horrible person to George is uncalled for.

Unless there’s more than meets the eye… Methinks there’s more than meets the eye. Someone here isn’t telling the truth! Time shall tell.

Maina Kageni Stands Up For Peace!

Maina Kageni has taken a break from his usual scheduled programming and has decided to make his show about peace and patriotism. We had written about that a while back and you can read that piece here. But back to the matter at hand:

He has been dedicating a large segment of his show on calling on Kenyans to be politically mature during this election period and show some self restraint. Maina has gone all political on us but in a good way -he’s talking civic education- by actually started by calling on Kenyans to oshow up at the polling stations to vote and has now intensified his message to one of peace.

And i support him 100%. Kenya shouldn’t be allowed to burn again. i also especially like seeing Maina Kageni take on the responsibility of advocating for peaceful elections given how far and wide his reach is. Good stuff!

Look At The Horrible Conditions Jaguar Used To Live In (PHOTOS)

When you look carefully into the lives of most, if not all successful men, you will probably find that their childhood was not as rosy as it is right now.

Take for instance Kenyan rapper/singer Jaguar. This guy grew up through the toughest and saddest of conditions yet he still managed to get into music and make mad mulla from the businesses that he later erected.

Jaguar is now the richest male Kenyan artiste, as we saw here, living in a mansion and owning a fleet of luxurious cars. If Kenya had its own ‘Cribs Show’, Jaguar’s mansion would be the first stop.

These photos show exactly where Jaguar grew up.

And now, this is how Jaguar is living.

Julie Gichuru’s Father-in-Law Gets Reprieve over Arrest

The High Court has extended orders stopping proceedings in an extradition case against the immediate former Nambale MP Chris Okemo and Citizen TV’s Julie Gichuru’s father-in-law and former Kenya Power CEO Samuel Gichuru.

The two had last week obtained orders stopping a magistrate’s court from continuing with the case, arguing that they would not get a fair hearing after the magistrate declined to refer the matter to the High Court for constitutional interpretation.

Mr. Justice Isaac Lenaola extended the orders to March 17 to give the DPP a chance to respond to objections raised by both Messrs Okemo and Gichuru. The two also opposed the Jersey extradition arguing that the process was defective as the Jersey Island had made a request to the Attorney General and not the DPP. They said the powers conferred on the AG should not have been delegated to the DPP.

Mr. Okemo and Mr. Gichuru also objected to the delay in the trial, saying it was an infringement of their rights as the court system in Jersey was different form the Kenyan one. They said the money allegedly laundered belonged to Kenya Power and if there was a complaint, it would have been filed in Kenyan courts.

Kenya’s Mavado Is The New King Of Kenyan Ragga!

Some of you will start asking me who this chap is others already know. Some still live under a rock and your still rather comfortable so i shan’t disturb you. For the rest of you who want to know what i’m on about, allow me to introduce you to Marc Brunnel.

This lad has been consistent on his grind putting out good ragga music that i’m shocked mainstream radios haven’t picked up on. From “Gie Dem” (which you can watch here), to his freestyle which made Kone compare the lad to Mavado this lad is consistent. But i will give him just abit more time before he really blows! I guarantee that he will be the next big name in Kenya’s dancehall arena.
Have a listen to his latest offering and have your say!

The track is called “So In Love” and is on the “Weekend after next” riddim -didn’t know Kenyans do riddims… Trust me when i say that if you love ragga you will love this track!

Tujuane Responds to Allegations That It’s Fake

Yesterday evening, Susan who has come to be known as Madharau Mirfat alleged via Twitter handle that the dating show, Tujuane, is fake even after the show came out in her defence following the roasting she has been receiving online since Monday.

Well, last night, Tujuane came out guns blazing trashing the allegations that the dating show is scripted and went ahead to prove that the show was real. Here’s the official statement from Tujuane;

For our viewers, and those who have been watching the show from the onset, we have never scripted anything on our show. We set up dates for singles can make friendships which will we always hope will lead to real love. What Tujuane will never do, as is being alleged, is then tell individuals how to present themselves and how to behave. To what end? It’s unfortunate that under duress all manner of allegations have now been made. But for what it’s worth we shall continue matchmaking those who are looking for real love, and we will follow up on the couples Tujuane has been able to bring together in genuine love and friendship. When we came up with this concept, the first of its kind in Kenya, it was to bring singles who want to meet other singles for prospective friendships and love, and we will never tell you how to do that. 🙂 We keep it fresh, always!

VIDEO: Check Out the Promo for the Next Episode of Tujuane

The promo for the 14th episode of the now popular TV show is out.

The 13th episode was the source of drama, memes and even a retraction from one of the participants after she was castigated on social media.

Beating the hype of that episode is going to be hard but the 14th episode promises to be very interesting judging from the the promo clip. With lines like “I’m trying to remember where I told you I live on Facebook,” this one is definitely going to be another scorcher.

The matchmaking reality show hosted by Malonza and Yvonne airs on KTN every Friday at 8:00 p.m. Check out the next episode’s promo below.

Prezzo Thanks His Fans For Their Support

Prezzo has finally broken his silence which he had maintained since the demise of his dear Goldie and has done so in what i consider to be the best way;

Prezzo has thanked his fans for the support they offered him and the strength they gave him throughout this trying period. Kenya’s King Of Bling has come out from his self imposed exile and taken to twitter to thank his fans and supporters.

prezzo-and-goldie.jpg

Here’s what Prezzo had to say:

“The admin of 411 would like to thank every good hearted persons who were there for @amb_prezzo, family & friends, at the sad & shocking loss of #24k, the 1st Lady Goldie. She was a rare gem, ever loving & kind. Words can’t describe her enough. May our Golden Queen & Classic Diva rest in perfect peace. Amen”

Tujuane Comes Out In Defence Of Mirfat. Asks People To Leave Her Alone.

I read “Tujuane’s “ statement on Facebook with alot of wonder. It sounded just as blonde as Beyonce’s request that some unflattering pictures of her super Bowl performance should be taken off the damn internets!

Thing is, no one can control this monster caller the internet. No one can. So once some infoprmation is posted on the internets, it’s gone. You’ll never get it back. Just ask Avril how her “Ngotha-gate scandal” went. Your best move is to move on. Even if the information is false and can be considered as libel, what’s done is done. Trust me, i know. and the “Fingergate Scandal as Ed calls it hasn’t slowed medown.

chim_jpg.jpg

But away from my devilishly handsome and charming self. Back to the matter at hand. Tujuane earlier today requested everyone top stop making memes and poking fun at Mirfat, the lass who is now claiming that what we saw on the show was her acting.

This was the statement they released earlier via Facebook:

“Hello Lovely Tujuane Fans! Thank you for your continued support for the show and for tuning in every week to watch us. You are all stars! Following the airing of our last episode, one of our show participants has unfortunately received very bad publicity and we as Tujuane would like to urge you to kindly maintain decorum and refrain further from commenting on the events of that episode as the young lady has suffered serious dire consequences as a result. For all our viewers who were offended by her comments, she sends her sincere heartfelt apologies. No one is perfect, and every will need redemption at one time or another. Enjoy your evening all!”

All Uncle Chim Tuna will say about that is… Goodluck with your endeavours to reign in Kenya’s online trolls! Mirfat is better off either moving on with her life or using this storm to gain mileage.

Photo of the Kshs. 2 Million TV Set Being Unveiled in Kenya

We had earlier given you a heads up of the Sharp’s Kshs. 1 million TV hitting the market, then came another one for double the price of that. The TV is said to be wider than the average car and equal to four 42-inch TVs.

If you are an early technology adopter, with Kshs. 2 million to spare, then you can part with your flat screen or High-Def TV for the latest Ultra HD. LG Electronics East Africa has launched the World’s first 84-inch Ultra HD 3D TV with a screen resolution that can display ultra HD pictures four times sharper than a full HD TV.

“The sheer size of the display, which is equal to four 42-inch TVs, will give you a breathtaking viewing experience,” explains Mr Josep Kim, the LG Managing Director, East and Central Africa.

Ultra HD is the branding term for TV sets with roughly four times the resolution of 1080p HD TVs. LG’s Ultra HD TV is wider than the average car and boasts eight million pixels to generate crystal clear images at a resolution four times higher than existing Full HD. Ultra HD content looks perfect whether you’re two feet or 20 feet away from the screen.

Former Radio Presenter Joshua Sang Endorses Raila Odinga

Just hours after the second and final episode of the historical Presidential Debate, former Kass FM’s presenter Joshua Arap Sang has finally broken his loud silence by endorsing CORD and ODM party leader RailaOdinga for the presidency.

Sang has dismissed the coalition between William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta as incapable of bringing peace between two dominant communities in the Rift Valley who have fought during elections since 1992.

In a recorded message to air on radio, Sang says only a president who is not from the two tribes will be able to bring peace between the two communities, concluding that he believes that President should be Raila.

He has also dismissed as lies, the perception created that Raila could have sent him to The Hague, saying senior government officials who were in office before the coalition, not Raila, coached witnesses to testify against him and Ruto in the case at the ICC.

“We are away in a foreign land with my brother because of allegations made against us. The truth must be told. In my opinion, the people who masterminded and planned to have me and my brother taken to The Hague did not include RailaOdinga,” Sang says.

In the statement which Sang says he recorded because of “heavy feelings in my heart,” the journalist traces what he terms “broken MOU’s of the last two elections in Kenya, including the 2008 power sharing deal.

AFC Leopards Becomes The 1st Local Team To Launch TV Station

We know about MUTV for Manchester United, Arsenal TV, Chelsea TV among otherTV stations for major teams in the EPL. But now, Abaluhya Football Club (AFC) Leopards better known as “Ingwe” among its die-hard fans, has become the first local team to unveil its TV station.

According to a report published on Goal.com, the team has entered into a contract with pay TV channel Zuku to air their new television station in a deal worth millions of shillings. The club vice-chairman Walter Onyino said the deal will be made public soon and though he declined to state the amount involved, independent investigations have revealed that the club will be paid Sh9million.

“We have already agreed on most of the things with Zuku and they have even started shooting some of our matches and trainings as they build content for the new show,” said Onyino.

He termed the new deal as much better than the previous one which they had with the defunct Smart TV, which used to pay them Sh3million a year.

“This is all part of our efforts to become independent and build our financial base as we expand into other non-traditional ways of raising money. We understand the need to stop relying on one sponsor because ours is a major brand which should bring us more cash in the bank,” said the official.

For now AFC Leopardsfans brace up for the new Ingwe Televisionto air team news for 2013 season.

Top gospel music producer comes out to defend Gloria Muliro

Just recently, Gospel music hit maker Gloria Muliro released her latest song, ‘Follow You‘.

Although the song turned out to be huge hit, it wasn’t without controversy. Apparently, disappointed fans and critics are calling out Gloria Muliro, claiming that she stole the song from American gospel singer Chris Tomlin.

As everyone feels like they should give their opinion on the matter, here’s one that actually really matters. This is what top Kenyan gospel music producer, Docta Eddie had to say about Gloria Muliro’s ‘follow you’, on his facebook wall.

“So everybody is up against Gloria Muliro for allegedly ‘stealing’ a song, right? Have you sat down and listened to the song? Yes she might have borrowed a tune but come on, those are not Chris Tomlin’s lyrics. Don’t some of you read the bible? That’s a copy paste straight from the Holy Book and precisely Ruth 1:16-18… Yet still, this is just one among the very many great songs she has written. Truth be told, Gloria Muliro is one of the best and the most humble and God fearing gospel musicians this country has seen in the recent past.”

Meet Kenya’s Nicki Minaj

She may not be as older nor fake (as far as looks are concerned) but her vocals can only be likened to Nicki Minaj’s. Listening to her latest track, you’ll agree that she can spit ill rhymes and sick flows like a supercharged evo.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Neekay tha Floet. Neekay, 20, is a young feisty artist hailing from Nairobi, Kenya. She started writing poetry at age 14 and ventured into hip hop at age 16 with influences such as Eminem.

Her latest song ‘Lovin’ Life’ is a heartfelt dedication to her daughter and just like a typical loving mother would do, Neekay pours her heart out to her young one. This was produced by Jus Beef Music. Take a look;
