Watch The Behind The Scene Video For Walking By Nanjira!

Writing about this song, was the first time an article I did got 5000+ hits.  So you can imagine how special it is to me!

nanjira_two.jpg

I can wax lyrical about this song again, but I dont need to, I already did so read about it here.

nanjira_one.jpg

There’s a few details I left out in the original piece. According to Nanjira, shooting with Macharia was her 4th attempt at the video! Unwavering determination I tell you. The first 3 times were a sad series of mishaps. When he heard the song, he resolutely decided he must shoot a video for it.  The song was produced by Blackman, read about another artist he recently worked with here.

I of-course had to get Macharia’s version of the events that transpired prior to the video’s shooting. He said and I quote, “Walking was a record I came across while I was in the studio with Blackman. He was playing some of his new songs for me, and “Walking” happen to be one of them. Soon as I heard it I just new this was one of those records I have to shoot…” Read more about Andrew Macharia’s journey here, he shot the ‘Way Too Gone’ video for American Hiphop superstar Young Jeezy.

He continues to say, “It was a very different sound from what we usually hear locally. And for me, I loved what the song was about. I wrote the treatment the next day and sent it over to Nanjira who I hadn’t met yet, but she ended up loving it. So we met a couple days after and shot it two weeks later.” Great things are made of these!

Watch the behind the scenes footage below. It was shot on location at Ramara Design House, produced and directed by Razorwire Productions. Special credits go to Maqbuli Mohammed, Muthoni Maingi, Mutua Matheka who did the photography as well as Macharia Andrew and  Phiny of Razorwire. This song by the way highlights domestic violence, which many women including KTN’s Anne KIguta have undergone.

POLL: Do You Think Socialites Are Good For Showbiz?

The past few weeks have been all about the socialites in showbiz.

From Huddah Monroe’s twerking video to Pendo’s nvde pictures to Vera Sidika removing her panties for the BBA judges, people can’t seem to stop talking about them. But it’s been quite a mixed conversation revolving around the topic. On one hand, there’s a group that says that it’s great that these women are expressing who they are and don’t care about what others think they should be doing. On the OTHER hand, we have a group of people who think that these girls’ actions are rather embarrasing and they should just stop whatever it is that they are doing.

So now I have decided to make a poll so that we can see once and for all, are socialites good or bad for showbiz? Drop your vote below, and don’t forget to leave an interesting comment:

Moviegoer Gets Refund After Explosion In Tom Cruise Trailer Didn’t Make The Actual Movie

After seeing Tom Cruise’s latest movie in theaters, a New Zealand film goer filed a complaint of misleading advertising with the country’s ad standards authority. And the film’s maker, Paramount, is going to refund him the cost of his movie ticket, reports The Telegraph.

According to the movie fan, an explosion sequence that appeared in the trailer for ‘Jack Reacher’ did not happen in the actual film. It was “the defining part of the ad that made me really want to go see the movie,” said the fan.

Paramount retorted, saying that while the explosion in the trailer was not in the film, this was a “usual and long-standing practice in the film industry.”

Paramount also pointed out that the explosion was “a single split-second element omitted from a 130-minute long action film.”

The explosion in question takes place between 2:10 and 2:13 of the trailer below. If you blink you’ll probably miss it.

Ann Kiguta Reveals That She Was Beaten Thoroughly By Her Ex-Boyfriend

If you haven’t yet, you need to get a copy of this month’s True Love, because in it is a revealing feature story about KTN news anchor Ann Kiguta.

According to her, the boyfriend started beating her on the day before she made her debut on KTN. They shared a 3-year old baby at the time. Ann was left with marks on her face just hours before she was supposed to appear on KTN’s set for the first time, but she put makeup and soldiered on with the job at hand. “I felt that if I didn’t go on with my schedule as planned, I was letting the violence win,” she said. Before the KTN news began, she went to the hospital to treat her wounds, then dropped a statement at the police station. She confided in Beatrice Marshall about the whole issue, and despite all that was going on, she was exceptional on her first Prime Time appearance.

It was hard for Ann to leave the boyfriend, as they had a baby together, but according to her, the beatings kept coming. Eventually, she said, “I decided to move on for my baby and myself. At least I was financially sound when I left the relationship. That dependence is what keeps women trapped in abusive partnerships.”

It’s good that Ann has finally come out to clear the air about this. Several other TV presenters are said to be in abusive relationships, hopefully this spurs them into action as well.

Photo Of The Day: Dennis Itumbi And Pierra Makena Back In The Day.

Would you have guessed that these two know each other? Well see the picture of the day below, it was taken way way back when they were in a school play together.

Photo

Many moons ago, when were all young and gullible, we used to go to ICC West (Frontrunners) located along Mombasa Road. The two ‘culprits’ Dennis and Pierra were still students at Kenya Institue Of Mass Communication, that how I first came in contact with them. The two went ahead to carve a niche for themselves in the Kenyan Landscape. Pierra acted as Jean Joyce in Tahidi High. Among other things, she headed the Ogopa Deejays branch in Namibia that was responsible for giving you Gal Level. She also works for Scan Group as well as being a part of an all female outfit called The Sheriffs! Girl is busy busy busy!

According to a story carried by The Star, she is soon releasing a reality Tv show that will showcase Africa through her eyes. The details are scanty but when I do get a hold of her I will write about it here. According to Actors.co.ke, “Pierra has many feathers to her hat as she was the Marketing Manager of One F.M Kenya. She also dabbled as a presenter. As of last year, she was about to pursue a Masters in Mass Communication at the University of Nairobi.

Her range of cinematography includes soaps such as Kenyan TV soap show: Kisulisuli, Citizen Television’s ever popular: Tahidi High and M-Net’s Changes. Some of the feature and full length films she has acted in include: Cry of the innocent, Aziz, Greencard, and Enough is Enough. In her free time, Pierra enjoys horse riding and dancing. Makena is also the face of Kenya’s road safety awareness campaign which ensures that word goes out on the dangers of irresponsible road use like drunk driving and insensitivity to other motorists. She was feted for that by the Association of Kenyan Insurers, read about that here.

Dennis Itumbi needs no introduction. Ghafla has done countless articles on him. Dennis runs his own eponymous website, and describes it this way “This is where you get FACTS, FIRST and FAST.” He also describes himself as an International Journalist who owns a group of County newspapers and does political, business and social media Consultancy. Read more about him here.

http://themonsterradio.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/denno1-440x248.jpg

Not new to controversy, he was accused of hacking the IEBC website. He was however exonerated, read about that here. He was then accused of hate speech by NCIC. Read about that here! Fellow writer Jeff did a two part series about his arduous journey to success. Read the second part of his success story here.

Apart from working with Team Uhuru, he has worked with UNESCO as their mobile journalism platform consultant, as well as Voice Of America and Journalism.co.za as a journalism blogger. Quite a resume this man has! And no, Dennis does not own The Daily post, he vehemently denied that. Read about that here.

Akon Congratulates President Uhuru Kenyatta!

It would seem Kenya wasn’t the only country watching her elections and the inauguration yesterday. kenyans weren’t the only people happy with the fact that this time round the elections were peaceful.

Akon recently tweeted that he was watching the elections and the inauguration keenly and he was happy that peace was maintained.

Here’s what he had to say:

akon

Congratulations Uhuru Kenyatta on your new presidency. The world is proud of Kenya and its peaceful transition. This is big. I’m in Hong Kong and it’s all over the news. I wish I could be there to Witness. AKON”

And here is the picture he instagramed:

Hatespeech: Why Isn’t The Government Acting? Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied!

I am sick and tired of the political rhetoric and empty threats being issued by government apparatus about hate speech. We have been entertained to spectacularly orated verbal circuses and we have heard that investigations are ongoing but we have not really seen anything worth writing home about. Hate speech has become such a nightmare that even we at ghafla!Kenya had to focus on eradicating from the site and facebook page. Read about that here.

To me, all this has been a smoke screen. No one cares and nothing will happen. If there was any real action, there wouldn’t be pages such as Mjinga Mkuu Raia Odinga. There wouldn’t be any disgusting ethnic vitriol being spewed. and what is scary is the fact that those perpetrating the worst forms of tribal hate speech are young people.

It is no longer the old foggies speaking trash, it’s the young generation. And that is scary. If the next generation is so unbelievably tainted, there is almost no hope. Which is why i am advocating for punitive action against Gwhiz Steve.

That is the administrator of the page i mentioned earlier. I am all for freedom of speech but it is never meant to undermine national cohesion. that constitutes abuse of civil liberties. The hate speech follows the usual path of circumcision and theft. It is time for the authorities to actually take a stand. stop shirking around and actually arrest these hate mongers who are threatening the very fabric that holds this country together: cohesion. maybe you should have a look at Caroline Mutuko’s rules of engagement on how to combat hate-speech here.

Uncle Chim Tuna is done ranting.

Ciku Muiruri Busts A Man’s Girlfriend Cheating On Him With Another Girl

Just days after being busted herself with one of the Artur brothers, and fending off allegations that her “Busted” show is fake, Ciku Muiruri is back with another sensational relationship investigation.

This time around, Jack called in to say that he thought that his girlfriend Maggie was having an affair with another girl named Cynthia. He said they’ve been having sleepovers, and were too close for comfort. When Ciku asked Jack why he didn’t think that Maggie could be having innocent visits to her friend’s place, he replied, “I believe two adult women cannot be having sleepovers.” Jack told Ciku that it was kind of hard for him to confront her himself.

Ciku claimed to be from an organisation that supports homosexuals. Maggie said, “I don’t want to be too open about it. Not that I’m ashamed of it, but you know the whole African perspective.” Ciku says it sounds like you guys have a strong relationship, that you’ve been together for a long time, to which the girl agreed. Then she handed over the phone to the boyfriend, who was understandably disbelieving of the whole situation. Listen below to his reaction…

Awesome Event Technology On Show At MTV’s Nairobi Concert

At last weekend’s MTV African All-Stars party, we were treated to a host of top notch artist performances from all over Africa, including STL, Camp Mulla, Big Nuz, DJ Tira and others.

What stood out for me when watching the performances, was these swanky mics they were using during the show. The mics in question had a camera mounted on top of them so that they could record the artist’s performance up close and candid. I’d never seen that before, and when I asked around the office, everyone agreed that they’d never seen that in a Kenyan concert, so I decided to share it with you guys. Here are some photos of the said microphones:

Brenda Wairimu’s New Role As Super-Hero.

Brenda Wairimu is a busy girl, she’s even a super hero now.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GUtlLjZymlo/T-RYP22aAqI/AAAAAAAADGA/cnhm5vEzhvk/s1600/brenda.jpg

Last week, I shared with you about B-Comics, her latest endeavor. Whilst a new image has not been released by Black Curtain, her management company, someone’s been busy. We share a mutual friend called Gaitho, who happened to do the Faimba image below. Read about her new comic strip B-Comics here.

Well Gaitho has been busy after we, yes we challenged him via twitter to do another one. Well he did, by portraying Brenda as a super-hero character. I present to you B aka Wonder-woman!

Vinnie Banton Robbed At Gun Point!

Last week, a Kenyan hip-hop artist decided to pay homage to one of the legends of Kenyan music. The artist I’m speaking about is none other than Khaligraph Jones, his tribute to Kantai was very touching.

If you missed that, read about that here. In case you’re wondering what that story has to do with this one, read on. There are many artists whose voices no longer inundate our airwaves, but nonetheless carved a permanent mark on our psyche as aficionados of Kenyan music. One of them was Vinnie Banton, remember him? He was one half of the duo Mr Googs and Vinnie Banton. Last I heard of Mr Googs, he’d seen the light and was now firmly grounded in Jesus. I think. They uber popular song dedicated to the suburb Githurai was a massive club banger, and featured famed vocalist Mr Lenny.

Now Vinnie Banton has been on the down low musically speaking, seemingly. Thus his Facebook update on Monday not only shatters to pieces that myth, but was actually a huge shocker. I thought he’d moved on entirely from the musical landscape but that wasn’t the case. He now provides sound for events and as y’all events people know, sound is either the solid rock or the bane of many a event. Well some people decided to rob Vinnie of his equipment. At Gun POINT. Read the entire update in the next paragraph. The picture below details what he has been up to.

“GOD is so so much great!!! I’ve just managed to escape robbery on GUN point!!! GOD you’re wonderful….one suspect already in cell 2 more to go….I would like to personally thank Jaguar, Nonini, jaymo, simo’…mum, dad, wify and most of all GOD’…..you all came to my rescue’ ….and for all those guys who have sound systems for hire!! BEWARE!!!!!! There’s a group of youth out here!!! Posing as clients of which their motive is to rob you all you gat!!! Yesterday night’ they were on me!!! Buh they dint succeed!!! …”

Wow, err on the side of caution guys, not all that glitters is gold, especially when it comes to people. Vinnie, we are happy to hear that you are safe and hope that the culprits are apprehended.

Vinnie Banton was apparently in a sex tape! Yikes, read about that here.

Citizen TV’s Uduak Amimo Blasts Tharaka Nithi’s Senator On Live TV!

I was just watching the Citizen Tv interview segment “Cheche” where Uduak Amimo and Mutegi Njau get to interview prominent personalities. And today was no different. But at some point, Mutegi Njau and Professor Kithure begun talking about the difference coalitions in Jubilee.

That was nothing out of the ordinary. They even talked about it using the analogy of polygamous marriages in the African sense of it. And on and on they talked completely oblivious to the fact that Uduak Amimo was not happy with the analogy. And her threshold was overwhelmed. She told the two off for their analogy in no uncertain terms.

The two men laughed uneasily and were all to happy to move on to the next topic and questions. But Uduak was not done there. She brought up her distaste again when she went over the comments and questions from the viewers. I was actually quite impressed that she voiced her dismay at the analogy. Most other women would just have sat there and endured uncomfortable situation.

Julie Gichuru, Patricia Amira, Graca Machel-Mandela and President Joyce Banda On One Podium.

This is one of those stories that you read twice before you share. It’s true though, media personalities Julie Gichuru and Patricia Amira have been picked as key note speakers for the inaugural WIE symposium in Cape Town, South Africa from May 5th to 7th 2013.

http://theelders.org/sites/default/files/imagecache/full_width_940x430/graca-machel-zimbabwe-450px.jpg

This symposium focuses on indigenous achievements and human interest stories across Africa. WIE Africa will be the first women’s symposium on the African continent to bring together female leaders from the worlds of politics, business, philanthropy, media, fashion, entertainment and the arts to empower and inspire the next generation. It’s the first time, that the WIE Symposium founded by Dee Poku and June Sarpong will be venturing into Africa, and breaking new ground by bringing together the continent’s stars and emerging young female leaders.

Joyce Banda, President of Malawi, humanitarian campaigner Graca Machel and Wellbeing Foundation President, Toyin Saraki have been confirmed as the headline speakers. Her Excellency Joyce Banda, Africa’s third ever female head of state will open the women’s symposium and Graca Machel, humanitarian and the wife of Nelson Mandela will close proceedings.

http://www.clubofmozambique.com/solutions1/sectionnews/data/international/mandela_graca.jpg

Founded in 2010, WIE is a global annual conference and online community designed to empower the next generation of women leaders. WIE Africa is timed to coincide with the World Economic Forum Africa and will showcase the women taking a central role in shaping the Africa of tomorrow. Following Cape Town, the pan African event will occur in a different African city annually.

When requested to take part in the event, Julie was so humbled and grateful.

http://thinkafricapress.com/sites/default/files/styles/400xy/public/joyce-banda-providence_0.jpg

“I was very humbled to be approached by aequitas about the Wie Symposium. It’s amazing to see the African woman being appreciated and recognized worldwide. I will humbly carry the Kenyan flag everywhere I go,” she commented.

Patricia couldn’t hide her delight either; “This, to me is a great opportunity that I could not turn down. I am very thankful to aequitas for including me in the symposium. The African woman is definitely on the right path worldwide and we will continue with the same spirit. I look forward to the event and am very grateful”.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KpTauCrw3bQ/S7nxmFWNdHI/AAAAAAAACn8/Z0aYQvyFukY/s1600/Patricia+Show5.jpg

Following the symposium, WIE will host a fundraising dinner to benefit the Graca Machel Trust. The Graca Machel Trust fosters and promotes African women’s leadership and contributions in economic, political and social frameworks in national, pan African and international arenas; and to improve the lives of children through the promotion and protection of their rights.

Julie Gathoni Sumira Gichuru is a Kenyan journalist and News Anchor. She initially worked at Capital FM before moving to television as a reporter and News Anchor at Kenya Television Network, part of The Standard Group. During her time there, she the investigative series ‘The Inside Story’ focused on corruption, crime injustices and inequity in Kenya. She later worked at NTV before moving to Royal Media Services.

http://www.businessdailyafrica.com/image/view/-/1439454/medRes/374773/-/h/400/w/600/-/yjr26uz/-/julie2.jpg

Patricia Amira, most people refer to her as ‘Africa’s own answer to Oprah’. The Kenyan-born media personality is one of the continent’s most popular talk-show hosts. Her daytime talk show, The Patricia Show is broadcast in over 45 African countries and watched by over 10 million people.

The Wellbeing Foundation Africa: Established in 2003 by Her Excellency Mrs. Toyin Ojora-Saraki, the Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA) seeks to create real and sustainable change for families in Africa by working with communities across the continent to build capacities and empower women. Toyin Saraki’s aim from the start was to reverse the debilitating cycle of poverty in society by creating a state of wellbeing, or in her own words, “a satisfactory condition of existence in health, happiness and prosperity”.

All I can say to this news is wow, what an awesome opportunity that these two women have been accorded.

Anto Neo-Soul’s ‘Chips Funga’ Opens Facebook Page For Daughter.

In a country where celebs are hell-bent on ensuring that their babies are kept out of the limelight, one lady has decided to swim againt the current.

Hanako 3Meet Hanako Takaishi, you probably remember this gorgeous belle from the Chips Funga video by Anto Neo-Soul. She played Anto’s love interest, the philandering one that made Anto’s heart break to smithereens in the song.

Well she recently delivered a child, and stoked by the new development opened a facebook page! Titled Ella Nana, it comes complete with baby photos, instagrammed ofcourse, showing the baby in oh so cuddly shots. I think I want babies.

Take a look at some of the pictures, they really are adorable. Her life is now etched in in our memories, her every milestone I’m guessing will be documented as a diary for other mothers. This my friends I believe is how you get advertisers gushing over your baby. Take notes people. Read more about Hanako here.

Citizen TV MD Explains How His Station Rose To The Top

Everyone knows that Citizen Television revolutionized the local scene in terms of local content. Apart from KBC, many of the stations around preferred to air international sitcoms and soap operas because they believed that that is what was hot so to say.

Wachira Waruru Citizen TV’s CEO in this 2011 youtube video, seeks to explain why Citizen turned over a new leaf. This was done by adopting content that reflected the local reality. He in this interview, explains the mechanisms put in place, and what it took to convince advertisers. He elucidates how they stuck it out in a bid to net advertising revenue, by waiting more than six months to build the kind of audiences needed to convince advertisers that there’s money in local programming. You have to watch the video to understand why Citizen went down this risky road.

https://si0.twimg.com/profile_images/2283198252/CTV_small_logo.png

The shocking bit was that for the first six months, there was barely any advertising for local content. Advertisers were wary of putting their money here until they saw reports that proved them wrong. Statistics don’t lie so they say, and it was the numbers that tipped the scale in local content’s favour. It’s laudable that Citizen had that stick-to-it-iveness attitude. He delves into the different programs like Papa Shirandula and Inspekta Mwala, and explains why they resonated with Kenyans. These, as opposed to desperate housewives et al, became popular over a nine month period and started to finally get the lion’s share of advertising revenue.

BURE KABISA: A Funny Clip Of Kibaki At His Best

Since today is the last day of Mwai Kibaki’s tenure as the president of the republic of Kenya, I found it fitting to share with you guys a video compilation of all his memorable moments.

This video includes gems from Kibaki’s public rallies and speeches, such as when he called certain people ‘mavi ya kuku,’ or the time a flag fell and his bodyguards were struggling to put it back up, and he told them, “si uwache hiyo kitu ilale hapo kwanzaa!” or the time his bodyguard tried to help him water some flowers, and he staunchly refused the assistance!

Zimbabwe’s Jam Signal To Play At Choices This Thursday.

I will not even pretend to know these guys, today I’ll do the lazy journalist thing and post the press release verbatim. I shall however attempt to exonerate myself, by sharing one of their songs so that you know what to expect should you decide to go check them out.

The press release from Choices states, ‘The Jam Signal are: Osborne Matengenzara (saxophone), Mutsawashe Gudhlanga (drums), Abel Maunga  (keyboard). The high energy 3 piece jazz outfit has been together since September 2012, with their music and unique blend of styles ranging from soft jazz, swing, blues, samba, funk, house, afro jazz, r’n’b, latino and traditional music. Their sound is recognized with intensely catchy melodic lines, groovy funk rhythms and the skillful instrumental solos.

The pure amalgamation of 3 passionate musicians is evident of their live gigs, whether they are playing a fast afro groove or a light whimsical side of western jazz. Part of the success of the band relies on their mutual respect and understanding of each other’s musicality as every member takes an active role in the band. With their musically diverse backgrounds and tastes all adding to the creative mix, their songs emerge from their lengthy lam sessions.

The group has performed in Maputo Mozambique and this is their second performing visit to Nairobi . They represented their country and received certificates awarded by the UMOJA CFC International. In 2013 they aim to record their first album and tour Africa and Europe. This band is on its way to success and they will defiantly rise and become one of the best jazz bands out of Zimbabwe.”

And what do you know, from the picture above, they seem to know Kenyan singer and spoken word artist Asali. The video below is peace song they did for Kenya, check it out.

This Is How Kidum, Fena And Steve Nyabwa Rocked Godown Arts Centre.

Where were you on Saturday? I, spent my afternoon at Godown Arts Centre!

Godown has a gig every last Saturday called Godown Gig, and this past event was graced by Kidum, Steve Nyabwa and Fena Gitu. I wrote about it here, so you best read about it. Below however, are pictures by the amazing photographer Eric Saganda of Fotogeric. The clarity of his pics, do a better job narrating the story that was the Godown Gig. The first few are of some of the fans that were in attendance.

The host of the day was none other than the beautiful Ziki, singer, songwriter, guitarist and actress. Who knows, may be the one will see her ditch the Emceeing job for the mic and guitar.

The first singer of the day was Steve Nyabwa, former TPF contestant. He was backed by among other former fellow contestant Juveh. His benga jams were out of this world, and the best part was when Steve called his lady to lead the audience in doing the shuffle. I can tell you this for a fact, this guy has a lot of music coming out this year, be on the look out for that. Here’s one of his songs.

The second artist of the day was Neo-soul queen Fena Gitu aka Fena-menal. She opened her set with Nairobology, before taking us down memory lane. Her special moment I believe, was when she paid homage to the late Esir and K-rupt. The deafening screams that erupted when she said she was done, were silenced when she did Africa Massive. She’s supposed to play at Choices this thursday, if that is confirmed I will let you know, she runs these streets!

The last artiste of the day was the incomparable Kidum. Now, check out the first picture below to see what his guitarist was doing! Kidum had everyone singing, hanging on to his every word. The most memorable part, was him doing pushups on stage and letting his three female backup vocalists all have their turn to wow the audience. They, not wanting to steal his thunder, actually randomly picked audience members to sing with them. The two kids did not disappoint especially the boy who sang Zahara’s Loliwe! Awesome awesome show.

The surprise artist of the day, was this lady from Tanzania who looked like she was channeling Tina Turner with her cray hairdo! She was oozing energy in copious amounts and she shut it down. She lip-synched though, but she more than compensated for that with the vigorous hip jerking. Sadly, I did not get her name, but if I find that clip I shall definately share it with you.

Here Is The Next Witnesser! Bunduki Na Twangala Twangala!

If you liked Jose the Witnesser, i guarantee you’ll like this little gem. the video is a slightly edited version of a witnesses first hand account to KTN about the murder of a woman by thieves.

This played out in Obunga in Kisumu and the lady in question was doing her best to communicate in Kiswahili but this was some serious humour -get the irony? It is even more ironic when you think about the subject matter but all in all, this is what funny stuff is all about!

Without further ado, i present to you “Twangala twangala!”

Kenyans Turn Their Wrath On Ciku Muiruri!

The hate that Ciku Muiruri is receiving is unprecedented.. It’s like nothing i have seen. This is actually proof that the beautiful lady thre3atens alot of people!

Kenyans have taken to social media to talk absolute rubbish about the lass. Memes have been popping up and so have photoshopped images such as this one below:

And this equally disgusting picture:

And i for one am appalled! By 6am this morning, there was already a Facebook page that had killed Ciku Muiruri. The page RIP Ciku Muiruri Margaryan Sargasyan had 2,000+ likes and i was appalled. I even noted that in the article i did in the morning. Read about it here.

SHE PREACHES WATER AND DRINKS SP*RMS

This is just trash people! This is all too ratchet! Not even Madharau Mirfat was subjected to this! Anyway, could it be that Busted has rubbed alot of people wrong because it has been catching out liars? “Whatever the case, i aint tryna catch it!” Kenyans need to fall back from hating on Ciku Muiruri and let the situation unfold. Sometimes, not everything is as it seems.

RIP Ciku Muiruri Margaryan Sargasyan

I Want To Invite You To The Uhuru Kenyatta Inauguration Pre-Party Tonight!

Tonight, Changes is giving you an excuse to celebrate. Irrespective of the side of the coin you were on, we can all agree on something: We love to party!

And the inauguration is tomorrow. Why should Uhuru Kenyatta get all the fun? I intend to dance the night away to Joe Mfalme’s wicked mixes. Happy hour today runs from 5pm to 8pm and you do not want to miss the party!

so come out to changes because you know you’ll be out anyway and have a blast!

Remember The Star Reporter Who Died Under Mysterious Circumstances? His Cause Of Death Has Been Determined!

I wonder whether you remember the article i put up about The Star journalist Bernard Wesonga who had passed on under mysterious circumstances. Read about that here. Well, the autopsy was carried out last week on Wednesday and the results are out.

The thing about the late Bernard Wesonga’s death is that he had received death threats from unknown people in connection to a story he had contributed about fertilizers.

Turns out his death wasn’t so mysterious afterall. the late wesonga -may his soul rest in eternal peace- died from a pre-existing coronary ailment. No foul play was detected.

In The Forest: Gerald Langiri Interviews Actor Gitau Ngogoyo.

So last week, I told you of this ‘obstinate’ host called Gerald Langiri. Watching it, I actually assumed that this show was scripted even though it managed to make my poor ribs ache! The makers of the show have however clarified that the only thing that is ‘scripted’ is the questions the host asks. That is the norm with many shows.

HISTORIA_LOGO.jpg

Lemmi clarify something, I’m not hellbent on casting Gerald in negative light, he however does comes off as the ‘villain.’ As is the case with movies and television programs, villains like magnets attract love and hate in equal measure. That’s what makes them memorable and fans take to them like moths to a fire. That is why I’m a certified fan of this show. Speaking of Gerald Langiri, I’m sure many of you wanna know what’s the deal with him. How about you find out here.

Now, last week Gerald got Lizz Njagah so mad that she walked out on him! On set. Yes she did; if I was a lady and a host asked me if I’d ever been in a p0rn movie while alluding to my cup size, I’d smack him with my stilletos and walk. She however was more civil. Read about that here.

Now this week, the show is back and the guest is hearthrob Gitau Ngogoyo. Gerald no holds barred, first totally hates on Gitau by insinuating that he wrongly made it to the top ten sexiest actors list. Still on that ‘rampage’ he incessantly grills him on the gay role he played in a local production. Esh. The best part of these interviews, is how the host maintains a straight face while the guests either squirm or burst out in nervous laughter. Priceless! And that reading questions from the phone vibe is so hilarious!

Watch this video below and judge for yourself. Clearly Gitau is from that pacisfist ‘temperament’ school of thought, because he just laughed away a lot of the questions. And why pray tell, would you sit and wait when the host said he’s not doing anything important? Pull a Lizz Njagah Gitau, WALK!!!

Collo Performs “Floss Na Wewe” For The First Time

I was at the Circle this past Saturday, and it was alot of fun. If you missed it, you missed out on quite alot(including the wet t-shirt contest)! Kenyans have just been paid so everyone was going out on alcohol. The frothy liquid of the gods was imbibed freely and people mingled uninhibitedly.

Collo had a performance pending, where he was to perform his new song “Floss na Wewe” alongside STL and Mimmo, and Shaffie took the time to focus him on that. Collo took the stage and busted a few freestyles to an enthusiastic crowd. Later on, he was joined by STL and Mimmo and they performed “Floss na Wewe” amongst others.

UPDATE: TV Presidential Inauguration Issue Swiftly Resolved

Earlier on, we had reported that the presidential inauguration ceremony was in jeopardy because the exclusive broadcasting rights had been given to a local DJ.

However, this issue has been swiftly sorted out after the director of the Presidential Press Service recently met with high-ranking officials from all the TV stations at Kasarani and removed the embargo on the private signal. All TV stations will now be free to air the inauguration directly.

Hiphop Great Khaligraph Jones Pays Homage To Legend Kantai.

I love doing posts like these that would otherwise bypass you. When someone pays homage, to a great that has all but been ‘forgotten’ by the current generation that is not concerned with the cornerstone stone layers, something’s gotta be done. Thankfully I have the platform to, so read ahead.

Kenyan music has come a long way, and is predicated upon people who paved way for the artists we have today. Some fell by the way side due to a myriad of reasons like death, family obligations or simply choosing to pursue other proffessions. I’m talking about people like Kalamashaka, the late Poxi Presha (R.I.P), Mercy Myra, Hardstone, Five Alive etc. Another artist that I believe needs to be put on a pedestal is Kantadda aka Kantai. Man this guy’s flow was sick! And someone who agrees with me is another hiphop great in my eyes Khaligraph Jones.

Photo

Yesterday, way before the whole Jicho Pevu saga was aired, he took to his Facebook page to pay homage to the great Kantai. Why do I repeatedly call him great? Because he is that’s why. Read the verbatim post below. Mad respect Khaligraph, you clearly understand what it means to acknowledge the giants on whose shoulders we ride on. Khaligraph Jones by the way had a bone to pick with Octopizzo a while back, read about that here.

‘Khaligraph Jones
“Chris Kantai is one person that I will forever Respect and Acknowledge cause he did set the pace for a lot of Artists that are in the Present Music Industry, I listen to him right now and am like” damn, this nigga was way ahead of his time” I mean am looking forward to meet Hova in the near Future but am even Much looking forward to meet Kantai, lets all appreciate this Pioneer for the good job he has done and still doing Chris Kantadda

Wet T-Shirt Contest At The 2nd Edition Of The Circle(VIDEO)

The Circle is turning into Kenya’s premier VVIP event. Many important people were there, including Sarah Hassan, Brenda Wairimu and Avril. Part of the appeal is that it is a place where the social elite can let loose without a strict moral code getting in the way.

This is where the wet t-shirt contest comes in. It has become one of the many highlights of the event organised by Bernsoft. When we reported about socialite Pendo’s participation in the last wet tee competition, people went crazy. Earlier this morning, we gave you the photo gallery of the latest Circle’s wet t-shirt comp, and that was the ndrama. Now here is the vindeo:

After Revealing Her Near-Death Experience, Kambua Makes A Comeback To TV

Yesterday, Kambua made her return to the silver screen when she re-appeared on the “Kubamba TV” set.

Alongside DJ Moz and company, Kambua hosted the show well for all those who were too hangovered to go to church. She had taken a small break from TV during which she revealed about a near-death accident  that had traumatised her. She spoke about the incident here, but basically she was admitted for three months in hospital. Kambua also took the chance to get back into the music studio and record the hit song ‘Bado Nasimama’ among others.

What do you guys think of Kambua as a TV host? Hot or not? Leave your interesting or creative responses in the comment section below:

Missed Jicho Pevu’s Ghururi Ya Saitoti? Watch It Here.

Jesus! No I’m not taking the Lord’s name in vain, some of y’all need him! Have you seen the venom that is spewed on social media lately? Let’s just start with the drama that was spawned yesterday when this clip aired!

http://gfx.dagbladet.no/labrador/191/191568/19156821/jpg/active/978x.jpg

I just watched a bit of it in the office, so I’m sure there are many others who haven’t watched. Thank Goodness for small mercies like Youtube. Well if you missed the drama on social media, the infamous Ciku Muiruri was ‘busted’. If you see the wall on her Facebook page, you will realize why there there is need to curtail many of you on social media. Whilst I’m all for freedom of expression, when one’s freedom infringes on anothers, or is used as an excuse to spread retrogressive vitriol or defame, then we have a huge problem. And yes, while my post may prove unpopular, I’m allowed to have a stance. I do hope that the truth about this whole death saga is uncovered, because when it comes to veiling truth even walls can talk.

http://jambonewspotcom1.jambonewspot.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Ciku-JICHO.jpg

Watch the clip below, it’s uber long. Then read her retort here, it’s addressed to Mohammed Ali. The reply was written by Chim, who happens to be on air right now on 91.5 hits with Miss Mandi. Of-course Ciku is supposedly not without reproach, Mister Majani wrote about how her show is scripted. Really? Read about that here as well.

TV Stations Might Not Show Uhuru Kenyatta’s Inauguration(UPDATED)

Tomorrow’s Presidential inaugration is in jeopardy. The rights to broadcast the event have been handed to a private contractor, and the local TV stations have been asked to pick the signal from that private body.

What’s more, you’ll never guess who the government gave the contract to… A LOCAL DJ! We are still hunting down the name of this all-powerful DJ, but when we get it we’ll post it here.

As for now, Linus Kaikai has said that NTV will not under any circumstances broadcast the inauguration with these conditions in place. He said, “Private tv signal for presidential inauguration? Ridiculous. Unprecedented. Of course we reject, we don’t touch private signals.”

Whether the other media houses will take this stance remains to be seen.

UPDATE: The matter has been swiftly resolved. Click here for the details.

Busted’s Ciku Muiruri Embroiled In Controversy Once Again! This Time Jicho Pevu On Her Trail!

They say what we do in the past can sometimes come up to haunt us. I’m sure Ciku Muiruri thought nothing about associating with the Artur brothers. Afterall, she was at a party that they had hosted for the media.

It all came back yesterday with the Jicho Pevu bit aired on KTN. But the beautiful Ciku Muiruri has now come out swinging to defend herself because she believes that she was unfairly portrayed on the clip aired yesterday because she asserts, last night’s Jicho Pevu was premised on half truths. I can understand why she has come out to defend herself by giving her side of the equation given the fact that a Facebook page has already decided to kill her.

Here’s what the comely Classic FM presenter had to say:

Ciku Muiruri

“Yes, that was me with Atur!!!!! That’s an old story, LOL! But for those of you seeing it for the first time, it was shot at a bash that the Atur brothers threw for the media back in the day when their activities in Kenya were still a mystery. I was then the Editor of Pulse magazine of the Standard newspaper. Aware that I was attending said bash, was my boss, the then Managing Editor of the Standard, Pamela Makotsi. I was of the opinion, when it came to the Aturs, that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar and she acquiesced. We were both vindicated, albeit I was in a different media house by then, when I eventually landed the interview of decade. More on that in a bit. Back to the bash where, standing next to me and cut out of the shot, I’m sure on purpose (Perhaps for drama? tut tut) was Eve D’Souza and Sheila Mwanyigha. Also at the bash was the then Buzz (Sunday Nation) Editor, Adhiambo Odera. Pinky Ghelani was also there and numerous others. Atur lifted me onto a counter to make space for all of us to take a picture. I don’t see the relevance of putting that particular clip (of me only) in today’s program unless Mohammed Ali was upset that I refused to give him Winnie Mwai’s number when he called asking for it recently – Dude, you uncover numerous conspiracies and can’t get a simple phone number??? :).

Curiously, this clip run on NTV, how do KTN have it?
Anyhow, Winnie is my friend, so sorry, I was not sleeping with her boyfriend. You may remember I was and still am, the only journalist who has ever gotten her to agree to an interview. This AFTER the clip ran on NTV. She knew (as did those that were present when he lifted me that day) that it was made to look like something it was not.

The exclusive interview with Winnie (after the brothers were deported) was on the easy fm breakfast show (which I hosted at the time) and was also filmed by NTV, who subsequently played it on the evening news. Funny thing is that this particular interview was also aired by Jicho Pevu a few months ago (No credit was given to easy fm or NTV or to me). Did they buy the footage or how does this work? Perhaps I should investigate Jicho Pevu myself. Mohammed Ali, please investigate this media bash further and get the original raw footage that has ALL the journalists and radio presenters that were in the shot. Half truths should not be allowed on a program that seeks to have a reputation for uncovering the entire truth. And the next time you run an interview that neither you nor your media house did, perhaps you can CREDIT your source? The name is Ciku Muiruri. Thank you, doll.”

Ciku Muiruri “Busted” Cuddling With Artur Brother

On yesterday’s “Jicho Pevu” which investigated the death of George Saitoti, Mohammed Ali tried to make a link between the Artur brothers and Saitoti’s death. The Jicho Pevu crew conveniently used the attached photo to describe the Arturs, which shows Ciku Muiruri getting extra friendly with Artur Margaryan.

The irony of this all is that Ciku hosts a show called “Busted” in which she attempts to expose people’s extra-marital shenanigans(by the way, we found out for sure that “Busted” is fake). Seems like Ciku has had shenanigans of her own as well.

She has posted a response to the whole controversy, which you can see HERE.

Join Team Ghafla On Hits FM Today With Miss Mandii! Hot Topic For Discussion!

Today at 9 am, Team Ghafla will be holding it down with Miss Mandii discussing a hot topic: Kenyan Socialites.

This comes after a media madness piece on the same in which the writer decried the appearance of socialites whom he accuses of being “Attention Hoes”. And given just how extensively we have covered these so called socialites, it only made sense that the team would be invited to discuss the same.

Mista Majani even did a piece on the qualifications needed to be a socialite and i have given quite the extensive discourse on how to properly drool when around one… And here’s an example of one such piece of work done by our resident fapper.

Usha Finds ‘Love’ In A ‘Hopeless’ Place?

Phoenix Theaters I said needs to be given props for keeping the embers of art from dying down.

So has Usha found love? Read on. I watched the last play Fathers day and my oh my, that was awesome acting! A man reconnects with his ex wife who is married after the son impregnates a sixteen year old girl! Durama! Well this time, they are back bigger and better! See the synopsis below.

Oh Usha’s real name is Mkamzee Chao Mwatela and she’s back on the phoenix stage….together with a brilliant cast which includes Charles Ouda, Samson Psenjen & Jack Gitonga….This play directed by Robin Denault promises to be a page ripped from awesomeness’ diary!

Synopsis: A collage of three of the Bard’s most recognized plays: Romeo and Juliet, Othello and A Midsummer Night’s Dream… Some of the characters from A Midsummer Night’s Dream have escaped the world of Shakespeare, that scoundrel, and stumbled onto ours. As luck would have it, they wander onto a stage where coincidentally an audience is standing by. They will spend the next hour and a half convincing this assembly of theatre goers that love is but a game for fools and Shakespeare, that scoundrel, masterfully exploited that foolishness to create some of the best and deadliest love stories ever told.

Below is the star-studded cast.

By the way I happen to dig just a bit and I found a video by Charles J. Ouda at Bogof. Watch below and know why he was selected for Cocacola Popstars back int he day.
