Monday afternoon, it emerged that newly crowned BBA winner; Dillish Matthews could in fact have Kenyan roots. This is after a Kenyan ex-soldier surfaced claiming that he’s the biological father of the young Namibian.

However, the 22 years old aspiring business woman and a model has since rejected Abdi Galgalo Guyo, a Borana man who claims to have sired her. Responding to a tweet by Kenya’s former BBA contestant, Millicent Mugadi Wambui, Dillish made it apparent that she does not recognize the man.

Just a few weeks ago, Linda Oguttu was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. She was under scrutiny because her fiance was arrested in association with on-going investigations into a carjacking ring. The police suspected that Dennis Mombo was the mastermind behind the carjacking ring.

They have since released him and dropped most of the charges that were preferred against him and have instead charged the people who gave him the cars as collateral against loans they procured from him.

Apparently, investigations have uncovered the fact Linda Oguttu’s fiance was tricked into accepting cars from people seeking loans -he is a loanshark- and the cars given to him were stolen.

Dennis Mombo is subsequently back at home with his fiance and the yet unborn child they are expecting.

A week ago, Africa’s biggest reality show, Big Brother Africa (BBA) crowned Namibian entrepreneur Dillish Matthews winner of ‘The Chase’. The same week, Rinelda Mouton, a Namibian journalist exclusively interviewed Dillish where it emerged that the young Namibian and her family were on a mission to find her real father.

Dillish has never come face-to-face with her father and even as she celebrates her victory questions abound as to the whereabouts of her Kenyan father. She added that as she only learned about her Kenyan father through her mother Selma Pashukeni.

And now, a Kenyan man who claims to be the beauty’s father visited the Standard Group offices Monday afternoon and recorded an interview claiming he fathered Dillish during his peacekeeping mission in Namibia.

Abdi Guyo, a retired Kenyan soldier claims to be part of the Kenyan contingent peacekeeping force of the United Nations Transition Assistance Group (UNTAG), deployed from April 1989 to March 1990 in Namibia to monitor the peace process and the first elections.

He adds that it’s during this period that he sired Dillish and the couple tried to stay in touch. A quote in the publication read by Dillish’s mother read,

“We often wrote letters to each other for a few months after he left, and then responses from him stopped despite the fact that I kept on writing. Later, I also stopped writing”

No one can deny that Mohammed Ali is thorough in the manner with which he carries out his investigations when he undertakes a subject for his wildly popular investigative piece, “Jicho Pevu”. Word just reaching us seems to indicate that Kenyan pugilist Congestina Achieng has been admitted in a hospital in Kisumu. And this transpired on Saturday, 31st August 2013.

The former world boxing super middleweight champion Conjestina Achieng is now admitted at Avenue Health Care Hospital in Kisumu County.
Achieng commonly known as ‘Conje’ was admitted on Saturday morning after well wishers volunteered to foot medical bills for her to get treatment at the health facility. The well wishers comprised Anglican Church of Kenya and ‘I am Everlasting Ministry’ Churches from Bondo, who were moved by the boxer’s plight.

Conje’s father, Clement Adala could not hide his joy when his daughter was admitted at the hospital, hoping that ‘Conje’ will finally be healed and afterwards continue with her normal life.
I am Everlasting Ministry’s Reverend Elizabeth Ochieng came to the aid of the boxer having read Conje’s story from news papers and decided to take her to the hospital.

Mr Adala said Reverend Ochieng once booked a flight for the renowned boxer to come visit her in Kisumu and therefore she felt bad seeing her (Conje) in this current state.
“She is a wonderful woman and I hope many people will come in to help Conje out of this,” said Mr Adala at Avenue Hospital as he awaited his daughter’s admission to the wards.

Achieng has for long been suffering from Schizo-affective disorder/paranoid schizophrenia which is a mental disorder condition that has forced her to drop the boxing gloves. Conje, 35, is also a two-time World Boxing Council middleweight title winning the World Boxing Federation, Global Boxing Union and World Boxing International Federation titles.
For close to two months now, Kenya’s top female pugilist has been staying with her parents at their Umiru village, Nyamninia sub-location in Siaya County. She left Nairobi after apparently failing to take
care of herself and because her condition was becoming worse.

There has been a lot of commentary on what Tusker Project Fame has done and where it may have fallen short.

First it was about the two hosts, Sheila Mwanyigha and Dr. Egwang, who the audience complained a lot about pushing the organizers to act.

Secondly, on the voting process; During the last season, a contestant put up a wonderful show, some say even better than the eventual winners, but came in at second-runners up.

The argument from some quarters as to why he didn’t take home the Sh5 million cash prize, is that TPF is based in Kenya, aired mostly by a local station, thereby denying audience and hence, the much needed votes from his home country.

One of the suggestions put forward was that the judges and faculty should choose the eventual winner of the final three participants. The next option would have been to adopt the Big Brother Africa kind of voting where each country participating gets one vote hence, an equal playing field for the participants who hail from countries with smaller population and discourage domination.

There has been no official communication as to whether the voting format has changed to take care of this problem. It was never discussed during the press unveiling at Panafric Hotel early this week on Tuesday, and we couldn’t reach the relevant people for comment by the time we went to press.

However, according to an extensive research done by the Tusker brand on the 4 million dollar plus music contest, people love the Tusker Project Fame, it makes its contestants into stars after all.

Classified information reaching our news desk indicates that the People Daily employees have not been paid their salaries. It is the first delay in more than three months.

The situation is worse for the correspondents and photographers from across the country are worse off. The correspondents have not been paid for two months and most of them are in a state of shock. With schools opening this week, there are worries among the employees as they might miss taking their children back to school on time.

The poorly paid correspondents and journalists are asking the management of the company to step in and help.

“Managing Editor, Maina Muiruri, who claims to be born-again like Granton Samboja (Mediamax C.E.O) and lies to the correspondents every week thinks more about his personal benefit than that of the company or workers,” divulges the undisclosed source.

On the other end, some correspondents who have been working for more than two years have not been given their retainers after Annabel Iraki, and Finance man Ken said that they are not in the strategic plans of the company.

Ken and Annabel said that they do not wish to have the correspondents have their retainers. The two said that the correspondents are not employed, but should be treated like contributors who write opinion pieces for the paper.

Makuyu reveals Cynthia would come home in the evening and tell him about this individual, a commercial director at her work place, and she would talk about him a lot.

The same individual kept popping up in her diary of the day, “At one point I started getting uncomfortable and I raised the issue with her”, says Makuyu. She however assured him it was all work and there was nothing more between them.

The estranged Makuyu says, “People would come and tell me stories and tell me that they had seen my wife with people at social establishments with certain individuals”. At the time, he says he couldn’t take action as he didn’t have concrete evidence incriminating his wife.

The evidence however came two years later when one day he went through her texts for the first time. He says Cynthia always had her phone with her and never left it around. “She carried her phone with her to the bathroom and shower; it was like the second hand” On this particular morning, she however left her it charging and I got a chance to browse through”.

He described the time before his discovery, saying Cynthia had been on assignment out of Nairobi for about five days, when she came back that’s when he got an opportunity to go through it. “The messages I found, between her and that other individual who was at a hotel out of Nairobi was devastating for me, I was totally destroyed”.

Instead of a knee jerk reaction following this discovery, he decided to tackle the matter after calming down. Asked why he didn’t take action even with such evidence, “When these things happen you can see but you are not too sure, you don’t want to believe the worst”.

The two discussed every time there was a situation of Cynthia with a man and Makuyu would give his stand as her husband, “but another cheating case would come up and with different individual” His trust level he says were destroyed by now even though he wanted to still try to make things work.

She however came clean one day and admitted to have been unfaithful. That was after her husband did an independent investigation and got to teach who the individuals and what their names were and confronted her about them. They agreed to go for counseling but he decided to take her back midway.

During the counseling, he found out about another individual who was a lawyer. When he confronted her about it she said it was in the past. Other people also came out with physical evidence and were willing to testify in court if need be.

After only two years of marriage he filed for legal separation and that brought the curtains down on the marriage of Cynthia Makuyu and David Makuyu.

According to him Cynthia described him as a violent man in her interview with a local magazine. He says he never did once cheat on his wife and encourages anyone who wants to get marriage to wait for it to happen as opposed to looking for a spouse.

From interning and rising through the ranks to become KTN’s business anchor, Cynthia Nyamai, formerly Makuyu, is one of the screen sirens to ever grace your TV screens. However, Nyamai recently revealed that she has not been lucky in love.

In the August issue of True Love, Nyamai divulged that she opted to part ways with her husband, David Makuyu after their marriage became abusive and the husband an infidel. And now, Makuyu himself has spoken about the marriage and what led to the divorce.

Speaking to K24’s Jamila Mbugua yesterday on her show, Faraja, Nyamai spilled the beans on what used to be their marriage and what led to their separation. He dispelled his ex-wife’s version that he was a violent man and had been known to be intimate with other women well, in other words, he was cheating.

Makuyu boldly explained how their marriage crumbled after only two years.

It all started six years ago when a friend of his introduced him to Cynthia and after dating for one and a half years, the two tied the knot. Makuyu was 31 at the time and reveals that he had second thoughts a week before their wedding; his gut feeling told him that this was not right. He says friends came to him asking him whether he was certain he wanted to marry Cynthia. He however rubbished this as the jitters any man gets before getting hitched.

He says Cynthia came of as a Godly lady as she was singing in the choir at the time; she read the bible and was respective to the parents. He however admits that this was his first mistake, trusting too much. “I am naturally a trusting individual” this he says was his main undoing.

There were red flags along the way during the dating period but Makuyu says he found it hard to accept. Even though he knew there was something wrong he went on with it, “I knew there was something very wrong, it was a buildup of things, people from her campus and church also came to ask me if I really wanted to get married to her”.

“They told me about the type of relationships she had been in before and about her character”, according to him, it so happens that all Cynthia’s former boyfriends were rich people and her relationships were short lived.

He says that Cynthia did admit to having those types of relationships back in the day but that was in the past and he believed her. This gave him impetus to put a ring on her finger. “However three months into the marriage, I noticed things were not going according to plan”
