Former Singing Sensation & Dennis Oliech’s Girlfriend Narrowly Escapes Snake Attack (PHOTO)

You may remember her for either the one-hit-wonder 2006 single ‘Nipe’ or the rumour some years back that she once dated Kenyan football star, Denis Oliech. For whatever the reason, Meg C is back and “ready to sing” again as she alleged recently.

Today however, she’s making headlines for a totally different reason. This afternoon, the now sultry singer escaped unharmed after a venomous snake crept to where she was and as it opened its fangs to strike, she leaped away just in time before calling his shamba boy who killed it.

“was on my bed relaxing just 20 mins ago when this snake tried to bite me on my leg am in shock but i managed to jump out and called the shamba boy and he killed it..thank u God it dint bite me..coz i don’t trust any snake”

Here’s the lifeless serpent;

PHOTOS: The Face Of Nairobi Has Been Unveiled

It is Shaniqua, Tattianah and Wambui. Call it the trinity but that is the respective top positions of the Face of Nairobi 2013. Shaniqua is the official Face of Nairobi reigning queen. Tattianah Ng’ang’a and Wambui Ndiithi are the 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.

All the 12 ladies had strapped their stilettos and put their best leg forward in the league, it was a showdown like no other. The cute contestants were bubbling with mirror-perfect beauty. The training had perfected their pose, poise, posture, walk and moves. It was a case of mirror mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all? The mirror being the professional panel of judges. The best pair of heels stole the crown, gown, glory, glamour and all glitz.

It was a packed event with all party-animals, nocturnals, party-nomads and gate-crashers checking in. The gala night sparkled with sassiness, and sexiness characterized the Face of Nairobi gala night. Pinky steered the event with Pierra Makena on the wheels. Wendi and her band gave the crowd a musical healing and Wyre the Lovechild was there to unveil the ‘Khadija’ he sings about. Well, the Face of Nairobi ushered the festive season with style by giving Nairobians the sexy Sheriff, Shaniqua.

Check out photos from her crowning below. Photos from the event coming up.

10 Things You Never Knew about TPF Music Director

With just a week to go to the culmination of Tusker Project Fame 6, last Sunday contestants mashed up two songs to produce one different song thanks to Kenya’s Afro-soul diva, Atemi Oyungu. This was a great success as contestants got to show their prowess in different genres of music and won Atemi admiration.

But how well do you know this songbird? Here’s something I bet you never knew about her;

1. Atemi has been described as Kenya’s Miriam Makeba her stage presence during her live shows fills up and brightens up even the darkest and coldest of spaces

2. Atemi began singing at a very early age out of constant encouragement from her family to take part in a number of musical projects

3. At the end of her secondary education, she and a group of friends formed an accapella gospel group called Thrown Together by Christ (TTBC) and were sponsored by Youth for Christ to go on a musical tour of Zimbabwe.

4. She joined USIU in 1996 and formed the singing and dance group Karisma.

5. At her post-Christmas 2009 show, where tickets were sold out weeks before the actual performance- an anomaly for concerts in Nairobi.

6. Atemi’s first collaboration was with Nyatichi Nyasani and Ugandan sensation Kawesa on the song ‘I need to Know’ for a UNFPA project supporting sex education for children in schools. Her next was with Nikki, aka Sheila Mwanyigha, called ‘Earth Song’. This song was for a UNDP project focused on cleaning up the Nairobi River.

7. She joined Eric Wainana’s band in 2003.

8. Her work experience include Events Manager for Kahama Group Hotels, Events Director for PHAT Music & Entertainment, client service executive at Face to Face Experiential Marketing Platforms and studio manager for Kijiji Records.

9. In 2009, Atemi was cast as one of the main characters in Kenya’s biggest theatre production yet, Mo Faya.

10. She wowed Kenya with her extraordinary knowledge of music alongside Ian Mbugua and Joey Muthengi as judges on Tusker All Stars reality show.

Thanks To The New Media Bill ,You Could Be Seeing Less Of Papa Shirandula

The new media bill has certainly caused an uproar from media practitioners as it was viewed as a way of muzzling the media and curtailing local content.This is because local content will be squeezed into only 45% of programming so basically Afro Cinema and Mexican Soap operas will continue plaguing our screens.Horrible right?

Mwendwa Mutua a film director and producer says that the new media bill has the following as far as local content is concerned…

CLAUSE 17:
(3) A broadcaster licensed to distribute radio or television programs/ services shall ensure that at least 45% percent of the programs broadcast on radio or television on any given day comprise local content.

Despite his promise of 60% local content on the free to air channels, after the president refused to assent to the bill, this is what he has recommended the above subsection to be amended to;

(3) A broadcaster licensed to distribute radio or television programs shall broadcast on radio or television such percentage of Kenyan programs as shall be prescribed by the Authority.

Now, the problem is that the said authority will have no representation from the creative/film industry. It will be comprised of the following organizations:

a) Media council of Kenya
b) Kenya private sector Alliance
c) Law society of Kenya
d) Institute of Engineers of Kenya
e)Public Relations society of Kenya
f)Kenya National union of Teachers
g) Consumers Federation of Kenya
h) The ministry responsible for matters relating to media.

It is the time we should stand up and fight for our industry. Let us call our MPs, lobby them or do whatever is possible to let our voices be heard or else Afro cinema Mexican soaps/ series will be here to stay and that means less and less work for you the Kenyan actor, producer, director and the film industry at large.

Tanzanian Superstar Forced To Cater For His Own Accommodation And Air Ticket After Mombasa Event Flops

Event organizer Eve Queen is renowned for her blockbuster show downs with fellow event organizer Beyonce and is often entangled in some sort of controversy.

The young woman was once again in the news for the wrong reasons when this year’s Nzumari awards that she had organizers had to be called off. According to Ommydallah.com, By the time the event was supposed to begin,the sound system and stage had not yet been fixed, some few revelers who had turned out for the event  at that time were forced to go back after being locked out at the gate of the venue for some time since the event had not yet kicked off.

Eve blamed the sound engineers who she had contracted to fix the sound system for showing up late and added that the revelers had been duped into thinking that the event was cancelled “You know there were some guys at the gate misleading the people who had come for the event  by telling them that  the event has been cancelled, this is a very strong rumor and I guess it has even reached to those who were planning to come”. She cried

“I will now be forced to cancel this event until further notice since i still need to award the winners” the controversial event organizer said.

Among those who were affected by this flop was Tanzanian artist Ney wa Mitego who had been nominated for the best Tanzania artiste category. He was forced to pay for his accommodation and air ticket back to Tanzania as the organizers could not raise enough money to fund him

Prezzo Reveals Why Women Throw Themselves at Him

From Sheila Mwanyigha to Daisy Kiplagat to Joy Wanjohi to Goldie (RIP) to Huddah Monroe to Diva Boss and now Stella (Chagga Barbie), his ‘rapcellency’ Prezzo is Kenya’s own serial famous-lady dater. Which makes you wonder what is it about Prezzo that ladies throw themselves at him.

The ladies-man extraordinaire was recently hosted by Mwanaisha Chidzuga on her news show on KTN where he a few secrets regarding his love life. Prezzo is the one celeb who has had success in wooing some of the most well-known women in Kenya – at least for one date.

With this in mind, Isha sought to find out how come so many women fall for him. Here’s an excerpt of that conversation;

Isha: Katika maswala ya uhusiano ya kimapenzi, Prezzo umegonga vichwa za habari sana; kina dada wanajirusha, wanasema we ndo mfalme. Ukijirusha kila mtu anapanga foleni. Huwa wafanya nini hao kina dada ambao kila kukicha wakiskia Prezzo basi roho zawaenda mbio?

Prezzo: Unajua nilimuuliza mamangu pia, you know, hilo hilo swali. Nikamuuliza mbona ivi mama? Mama akaniambia ah, una damu ya kupendwa. So I guess you know…ni io tu. Nina damu ya kupendwa. Siwzi kusema ni ivi ivi na vile. You know me ni mtu ambaye naishi maisha yangu jinsi nilivyo so watu wananichukulia jinsi nilivyo. Watu wananipenda nilivyo.

The number of women he’s had has earned him the name, “King Mswati” among his cousins.

Asked about why he jumps from one woman to another Prezzo says, “Ukiwa mtu maarufu mpenzi wako lazima awe mtu anayeelewa sana…mimi si mtu wa kawaida…mimi ni mtu wa watu.”

Most of his exes protest that Prezzo is not lovable allegations that he vehemently denies saying it’s those chics who don’t understand him. He is popular and that bothers the girlfriends.

NTV’s Dennis Okari Called Out Over His ‘Serve And Suffer’ Expose

A while ago, NTV aired an eye-opening expose by its Senior Investigative & Crime Reporter, Dennis Okari. The expose dubbed “Seeds of Sin” had social media awash with compliments for the tip-top work done by the authoritative reporter.

Mr Okari exposed renowned men of cloth who had a very darkside, they got rich by swindling their wide eyed congregation.Thos e exposed include Prophetess’ Nduta, ‘Apostle James Maina Ng’ang’a, Bishop Dr Prophet Thomas Wahome of Helicopter Ministries and Pastor Kanyari (Betty Bayo’s husband and ‘Prophetess’ Nduta’s son).

This expose got us very excited and Mr Okari’s exposes were certainly something to look forward to. Last week “Serve And Suffer” was his latest investigative feature and someone by the name Faith C Muthoni is faulting the piece. Have a look

“SERVE AND SUFFER”;

It is very unfortunate that viewers were all glued to watch “SERVE and SUFFER” on NTV an investigative feature that was aired by KissTV sometimes last year.

The clip was funded by a certain NGO and it is a re-run.

Dennis Okari did a shoddy research as he could have told the viewers about the increase of resultant allowances, housing, 1200 new vehicles,medical insurance cover, salary increment etc.

Some of officers who were shown on the clip they no longer work in those stations. Some have been transferred, promoted etc.

He didn’t even tell us that on late evening of 4 November 2013, the house of human rights defender on the clip Mr. Philip Ochieng Onguje who was the founder and co-ordinator of Usalama Reforms Forum, caught fire under unclear circumstances, leading to his death and the hospitalisation of his wife while his three children escaped the fire unhurt.

He could have edited the clip to read ” late Philip Ochieng” who used to work with a human rights organisation that works on security issues and campaigns for substantial police reforms in Kenya.

I question the motive of this “Serve And Suffer” investigative feature just when IG Kimaiyo & the government are working towards police reforms!

Boniface Mwangi is a rare breed indeed. the man is one of the most fiercest champions for democracy and he shows no signs of relenting or being bought by anyone. He stands for what he believes in and to understand what makes this lad tick, you must turn tide, time and tomb over and back for the answer.

The man witnessed the worst of the Post Election Violence and he never wants to witnessed what happened then ever again in epochs to come. And the man, the activist has asked Kenyan celebrities to show spine, spittle and mettle and stand for something worthwhile for a change.

The activist Boniface Mwangi recently tweeted this rather insightful statement, nay, challenge:

BONIFACE MWANGI @bonifacemwangi

KE Celebs you have made it because the media markets you. Show up on Tuesday to protest against the draconian media bill.

And now a word from Uncle Chim Tuna:

I doubt we will see quite the turn out especially from the celebrities who through the year have been talking grease to my team over articles. I would like to see all celebrities stand up and stand for something meaningful. But as Ed always says, “We’ll see!”

KTN Presenter Attacks Sarah Hassan’s Wedding Show Performance

Citizen’s Wedding Show has kept a large number of hopeless romantics, love cynics,event planners and wedding fans eyes glued to the screen religiously every Sunday at 6 P.M.

We love the gowns, the pomp and glamour and those Aww..moments that can only happen in weddings. The show was made a success by the Noni Gathoni who unfortunately left the show recently to pursue her dreams. She has her own show now on NTV called Bailey’s Weddings With Noni Gathoni

Noni’s replacement was the striking Sarah Hassan and her look in my opinion was perfect for the show. She has this sweet demeanor and a face that says ‘happily ever after’ but not everyone is feeling The Wedding Show with Sarah Hassan.And one of the hecklers is none other than The Ideal Space host Tim Njiru

this “New Look” Wedding show tastes like a hot flat coke a cola in a porridge mug. the presenter’s voice lacks animationthe Nyoonyeee gathonyeeee made wedding show…. a wedding show

Who then added :Why was there hype with Tanya? Tanya is flat with delivery… Clothes are just 5% of the show…

This is the Next Big Thing After Nairobi Half Life (VIDEO)

Because movies about turning the other cheek are a lot less interesting than movies about chopping off someone’s head, there have been a pile of great revenge films over the years. Revenge has been a consistent motivator in many of the films of 2013, and that’s set to continue as the year grinds to a halt, with payback proving crucial to Candy n Candy Records’ debut movie, “Gal Bladder”.

After being set-up and betrayed by the man who hired her as a househelp, the starring, Baby Madaha is tormented and sexually molested by his boss’ friends who have a field day gang-raping her whenever they visit. Tired and sick of the humiliation, she quits and launches a brutal rampage of revenge against her oppressors whom she systematically hunts down to seek revenge.

“Gal Bladder” portrays graphic violence and lengthy depictions of gang rape, some of the ills crippling the society. Baby Madaha meanwhile presents strong female role models whose strength is predicated upon being a victim.

Despite its bruised-and-bloody reputation compared to Nairobi Half Life, Gal Bladder will be one of those movies that have a lasting impact. It’s set to hit the theatres before the end of the year.

Kenyans On Twitter Get Huddah Monroe Trending With Hilarious Pictures

Just when we were about to get over Huddah Monroe’s grand blonde moment  in the BBA house thanks to her recent  profound  tweets, she slips up and has another  one.

The ever alert Kenyans on Twitter did not miss this and Huddah was trolled into TrendsMap.We know a roast cannot be a roast without pics. Here are some of the pics used to roast the socialite

DJ Creme Makes Fun Of Huddah Monroe (PHOTO)

DJ Creme is one of Kenya’s most wildly popular DJs and with good reason. The way I saw him connect with the crowd at Sepetuka was just crazy. It seemed like he was insync with the crowd. Every tune he played elicited excitement each bassline drop and his cuts and fades were just too well timed.

But this isn’t about his mix-genius, it’s about his swing at Huddah who made a rather hilarious goof. For some history on that, check out this article.

And Kenyans on Twitter had their say but DJ Creme had to get a word in edgewise and it is worth the 3 seconds it will take for you to read his question. A rather pertinent question is you ask me:

Huddah Monroe Viciously Attacked After She ‘Killed’ A Famous Rapper

Life in the limelight is full of inconsistency, one moment people adore you and think that you are the best thing since sliced bread, and the next moment you are on the grill getting roasted by your fans.

That is a lesson that controversial  socialite Huddah Monroe learned yesterday as the same people who were applauding her for giving water to KDF during the Westgate  siege were the ones roasting her for a Paul Walker condolence message gone epically wrong.

RIP Paul Walker! Real baller! No fake life ,no poser ,this is so sad!

Here are some of the reactions to this epic fail

PWEETY HEINZ ‏@pweetyheinz 7@HUDDAHMONROE Just a Q… You don’t know the difference between Paul Walker and Paul Wall???? Hahahaha

Kenyans On Twitter Lampoon Eric Omondi’s Set On Churchill Show (PHOTO)

Kenyans on Twitter are some of the harshest critics around. They are a notoriously difficult crowd but i personally do not see this as a problem. If anything, it makes our entertainers and celebrities work harder to gain approval.

It’s Eric Omondi’s turn on the roasting seat. And one Kenyan in particular has stood out in terms of just how witty they can be when it comes to #harshtags. The slow won’t get it but we don’t dull. And that Kenyan is XtianDela. This was his take on Eric Omondi’s performance last night:

DJ Kaytrixx’s Girlfriend Gives Birth to Twins

Another day, another set of Kenyan celebville twins are born. The celebrities sure are spawning; now it’s Str8-up’s DJ Kaytrixx girlfriend and long-time lover, Sue Masati. The top spin-master became the proud father of not one, but two babies.

Making the announcement, Kaytrixx confirmed that mother and babies were healthy;

“Glory be to God. My twins are here. Wifey is recovering from the minor operation. Everything is fine. Too excited.”

His twins are another pair to add to the list of celebrity babies. Kaytrixx now joins screen siren, Grace Msalame and scads of others in producing a twofer.

P-unit And Collo Win Channel O Music Video Award

Congratulations are in order for Kenya’s P-unit and Collo for finally shutting up my cousins and also for winning the Channel O Music Video Award 2013 in the two categories they were nominated in: Most Gifted East African Video and Most Gifted Ragga Dancehall Video.

The group and artist collaborated on the track titled, “You Guy” which featured -rather prominently- posterior prowess from one Vera Sidika. The video caused quite the uproar when the video was released and at one point was even banned by a leading television channel in Kenya -although that fact was vehemently denied.

The group which will feature in another rather controversial article later today (done by yours truly) has gone from strength-to-strength and all their hardwork has now culminated in the award which hitherto had never been won by any Kenyan.

And yet one of my cousins was quick to point out that the video for “You Guy” features a rather prominent stamp: “A Clarence Peters Montage” which she argues is proof that Nigeria is the only reason Kenya won -well, atleast one of the awards.

But I refuse to take away from the lads’ hardwork and to her I say “Trick don’t kill my vibe!”

CONGRATULATIONS P-UNIT AND COLLO!
