Octopizzo Flies His Family out of Town for Vacation (PHOTOS)

The holiday season is here and while everyone else is still planning on how they will be jostling for space on Mombasa beaches and by the lakeside in Naivasha, Kibera’s finest rapper, Octopizzo will not be among those as he has already started his holiday. A couple of days ago, the rapper flew his family out of town to an undisclosed location for sabbatical.

As the Namba Nane rapper boarded a SafariLink plane he wasn’t willing to disclose his ‘hideout’ but only said, “Goodbye Nairobi see you in a week’s time, time to relax with family and plan for 2014.” The “Nini” singer also reveals that he will be taking this opportunity to write his new hit songs for next year.

Take a look at some of the photos of Octo and his family on vacation;

Shocking Exclusive K24 Footage of Passengers Getting Attacked by Armed Assailants as Police Officers Helplessly Look On (WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT)

Last Thursday, a group of armed men and women believed to be members of the Pokot community attacked a popular passenger bus, Dayah Express, enroute Lodwar at Marich and stoned it, brutally assaulted and robbed the passengers of their belongings.

Ironically, the security officers who were at the scene at the time of the incident watched helplessly as innocent passengers were beaten up and their possessions looted. K24 captured the dreadful attack live on camera and aired it a couple of days ago.

These Are The Songs Selected To Celebrate Kenya At 50

I refuse to believe that these are the most iconic songs but that is just Uncle Chim’s opinion. I also refuse to believe that the research carried out was worth an alleged 12million shillings. Infact, if it cost more that Safaricom bundles, I am upset as a taxpayer because the research was conducted on Facebook by one Bruce Odhiambo with his Facebook friends.

The Kenyan Government it is whispered, wanted to celebrate Kenya turning 50 by celebrating the most iconic songs of the 5 decades of Kenya’s existence as an independent state. And this was the list Bruce Odhiambo came up with:

I reiterate, gone are the days when Kenyans were the heart and soul of African music. When superstars such as Mbilia Bel and Tabu Ley would fight to have Kenyan producers work on their records. Gone are the days when the Miriam Makebas would come to collabo with the Fadhili Williams.

I refuse to accept such mediocre acts as “iconic” unless the term gets changed in the Oxford Dictionary.

While Celebrities Are Too Scared to Accept Boniface Mwangi’s Challenge, Cabu gah Embraces It

Boniface Mwangi challenged Kenyan celebs to show that they had a spine and cared for something other than their music. none stepped forth. Well, that is other than Juliani who is always showing love for any worthy cause.

that would be all i have to write if it weren’t for noble souls such as Cabu Gah who champion the cause for what they feel is right. And this is what Cabu Gah had to say:

I DIDNT SEE DANIEL TOROITICH Arap Moi’s NAME IN THE MARCH 4TH Ballot PAPER.

I remember clearly, the ONLY NAMES I saw in the March 4th Ballot Paper were; Martha Karua,Peter Kenneth,Musalia Mudavadi,Uhuru Kenyatta,Raila Odinga,Ole Kiyapi and Paul Muite.

And I didnt see the KANU party either.

But,day by day,it looks like I am living in 1993. And Mzee Moi is in POWER!

I am NOT a media person. Or a journalist. Or a reporter. And I have NO stake in the media industry whatsover.

I am just a simple artist. A musician, writer and social evangelist.

But today,I will be joining the KENYAN MEDIA in protesting AGAINST My President. And His Government.

I was quite young when the Moi Government was ruthlessly clobbering and breaking the skull of a hapless but undaunted Wangari Maathai.

Maathai stood for Truth. And Justice. And Freedom. And Democracy.

But for her trouble, she was met with the MOST horrendous beatings in the streets.

She was clobbered. And pounded. And mauled. And whipped. And battered.

For being so audacious. For being so daring. And stubborn. And valiant.

Not just her.

Many others faced Nyayo’s monstrous wrath, too.

From Gitobu Imanyara to Kenneth Matiba. From Rev.Njoya to Bishop Gitari.

Nyayo wouldnt let them.

The PRESS was muzzled. Journalists were incredulously intimidated. Newspapers were threatened. Editors were gagged.

And FREEDOM was stifled.

Even artists were NOT spared the wrath of the abhorrent Government.

Neither were writers.

Eric Wainaina had his song “Nchi ya Kitu Kidogo” banned from airplay.

And one time, wicked KANU Government sycophants even switched off his microphone,to stop him from performing that song!

Ngugi wa Thiong’o had to flee to Exile. And “Whispers” Wahome Mutahi had to live with daily threats and dangers from a monstrous Government headed by a paranoid narcissist.

God,those were TERRIBLE,TERRIBLE DAYS.

I thought that abominable regime was gone since 2002.

I could be wrong.

Now I see our dear, old Media being ran out of town.

Our President is turning back the clock, sadly.

He and the ever-nauseting Parliament have plunged their venomous fangs into the neck of the Media.

Now,Journalists CANNOT report freely.

Editors CANNOT publish hard truths.

Mohammed Ali will have to seek exile.

And John Allan Namu will start selling mayai chemsha in Kariokor.

ITS UNACCEPTABLE!

President Kenyatta,IT IS UNACCEPTABLE!

You MUST tame Your boys in Parliament.

You MUST!

Nobody is safe.

NOBODY!

Neither the Judiciary. Or the Media. Or the Artists.

Dammit!

THIS IS 2013,For Christssake!

And a digital PRESIDENT is IN POWER!

Surely,He MUST desist from the Moi-esque tendencies!

President Kenyatta,I believe In You.

And I LOVE YOU,Bro.

BUT THE MOMENT You start going for independent institutions, this LOVE wont last long.

THE MEDIA MUST BE LEFT ALONE.

And the Judiciary,too.

And the NGOs,too.

And Artists like me,too.

Not unless JUBILEE IS the new KANU,then WE DEMAND a difference.

A DEMOCRACY RESPECTS opinions…no matter how crazy or how unorthodoxly presented.

Boniface Mwangi heckles Atwoli at a National function…His testicles are crushed by covert, state goons.

And,bloodied and beaten silly, he is hauled into a police cell.

Another protester heckles Obama HIMSELF at an American function,Obama turns around, speaks to the guy, tries explaining stuff to him…OBAMA STOPS A SPEECH to reason with the GUY!!!!

And NOTHING happens to the guy later.

But with people like the cantankerous Adan Duale, the comical Joshua Kuttuny and the sycophantic Speaker Justin Muturi still surrounding the President,I am sorry to say,KANU IS BACK!!

And when I remember that Joshua Kuttuny, the raucous rambler who ignominiously LOST an election, is NOW the SENIOR ADVISER to President Kenyatta,MY HEART BLEEDS.

Its like picking Huddah Monroe to advice Oprah Winfrey!

God!

I weep for my motherland!

Octopizzo’s Daughter Is All Grown Up (PHOTOS)

He is a hardcore rapper from Kibera, but even the hardest of the hard cores have that one person that makes them all gooey inside, and for Number 8 it’s his absolutely adorable daughter Tracy.

We are aware that Octopizzo dotes on his daughter, a while back he even wrote a rather touching dedication to his daughter saying that thanks to the birth of his daughter he finally knew what love is adding that ‘ She was sent here to heal me. She brought light where there was darkness. Everything I did before her doesn’t make any sense .My life begun when she was born.

The smallest things she does make me look forward to see what little surprise she has for me every day. The joy she brings me is a drug on its own. When I come home, she will run to meet me at the door, give me a big hug, and everything that happened that day just fades away…. she gives me pure love.

Well Everyday Octopizzo’s bundle of joy keeps growing and just like her dad,she knows how to have fun

Kenya At 50: Why There Is Nothing Musical To Celebrate About Kenya At 50

I recently came across information that seems to indicate that the government has set aside 12million shillings for an album set to celebrate Kenya’s jubilee years -musically speaking. The album is allegedly being done by one Bruce Odhiambo who had the idea that his Facebook page is the ultimate way to interact with Kenyans of all shades, creeds and soci-economic standing.

But I will not go into why the choice of Facebook as the sole medium for interaction is flawed. Or why the spending of more than 1 million shillings to burn songs onto a CD is ludicrous. I will discuss why Kenya has nothing to celebrate post 1979.

Tabu  Ley -may his soul rest in eternal peace- once famously quipped that to make it in Africa, one had to first gain fame and acceptance in Kenya. We had them all in terms of AFRICAN CELEBRITIES. From Fadhili Williams to Kelly Brown.

Then came the dark years ushered in by Kanu-Nyayo’s repressive years that set us back 100 years culturally. We killed entertainment in Kenya except if it was choral music celebrating former president Daniel Toroitich arap Moi. Had I been alive, I dare say I would have been a guest at the torture chambers having my delicate bits gently massaged by a mysterious man with pliers.

And now Kenya through Bruce Odhiambo is celebrating Kenyan music from 1963-2013. I dare to breathe the question, “Why?”. What for? Celebrate music from 1963-1979. Nothing since then is worth celebrating with the exception of Kalamashaka and Camp Mulla who have let me down terribly. These are the only artists worth celebrating for the impact they had on the international scene. Do not celebrate mediocrity!

To Uncle Chim Tuna, Bruce Odhiambo is celebrating mediocrity. He is celebrating artists who have no name beyond the borders of Kenya. He is pandering to the gallery so as not to alienate Kenyan celebrities. I have no such qualms. And I have high standards.
Kenyan music since the 80s has largely been mediocre. Gone are the days when the Miriam Makebas, the Kanda Bongo Mans, the Tabu Leys, The Mbilia Bels, the Defaos would troop to Kenya to make a mark on African music.

Now we have to beg D’banj, Mafikizolo, Fally Ipupa, Davido to even think about coming to Kenya. We had a glimmer of hope in Camp Mulla but they screwed the pooch! So let us celebrate 50 years of what would have been a vibrant music industry but is now a decaying, diseased, decripit shadow of what it once was. Hongera Kenya!

Uncle Chim Tuna has spoken!

10 1980’s Cartoons That Still Need To Be Made Into Live Action Films

We are headed into a world in which there is actively a fourth Transformers film being made as well as a third G.I. Joe film. Films are now being made based on amusement park rides as well as video games. Given all the attendant nostalgia which now grown up geeks have for their youth, there are still quite a few properties from a magical time in cartoons which have yet to get the live action treatment. Some of these may yet become a reality. Some of them are stuck in a fan’s dream. Here are the Top Ten 1980’s cartoons that still need to be made into live action films.

Insider Terms Adrenalive’s “Bandage” The Worst Event of the Year – Part II

So the event was supposed to start at 7pm but the set-up was still being done by this time. Chairs were still being arranged at 9pm and sound check had just started. People start arriving and seats filling at a very slow rate, despite the fact that almost everyone who attended was given a complimentary ticket.

Anyway, the event starts well over 9pm and everyone is happy and drinking away. Bottles with sparklers are sent to tables and served in the fancy ice buckets to those who are at the venue. Grace Makosewe and Jimmy Gathu were the Emcees for that evening and they got on stage to welcome people. The sound was pathetic and you could not hear anything they were saying. They kept apologising for the sound and promised that it would be sorted.

To cut the long story short, that was to be their last appearance as they soon left after a disagreement with Ahmed Mikwa about their payment or lack thereof. They picked up their things and left the building. There was no Emcee.

South African act, Toya Delazy was the main act of the event and she was set to go on stage after a couple of the other performances were done. We waited, and waited. Shortly there were alot of empty seats. People were tired of waiting plus there being bad music, bad sound, terrible entertainment and clear disorganization, rumours had started that there would be no Toya Delazy.

The rumours were however untrue as she came on stage and with alot of energy to say the least. A short while into her performance, the sound started acting up. Her DJ looked distressed and so did she.

Midway, she got fed up, stopped singing and apologised for the sound problems. She also started posing for pictures while her song was still going on. It was a complete mess. Her and her manager exchanged glances and you could tell they were not amused. She got off stage and the event ended.

“I have to say that this is by far the worst event I have ever attended. Very amateurish and looked like the organizers were just out to make a quick buck. Only qualified people and companies should be authorized to organize events especially when it comes to bringing in an international artiste. If I had paid for my ticket I could have sued for FALSE ADVERTISING!” complains the source.

We tried reaching Adrenalive CEO, Ahmed, on phone for a rebuttal but he couldn’t be reached.

Insider Terms Adrenalive’s “Bandage” The Worst Event of the Year

The holiday season is here and already gigs are lined up promising fans nothing but pure excitement and rejuvenation after a year characterized by ebbs and flows. But sometimes they miss the mark spectacularly. One such event went down last weekend.

According to a reveler who had coughed up her hard-earned cash, the event had a lot of things going wrong and even felt like it was jinxed right from the start.

“Don’t get me wrong, the concept of the event and the line-up was great. The crowd targeted was mature and the entrance fee, Ksh. 3,000 was going to lock out ‘unwanted groups’. The poster alone made alot of people salivate at the thought of attending such an event. Alot of things however, went haywire,” starts the source.

First of all, the venue of the event changed severally as they were shown a cold shoulder by most venues. Finally after alot of searching and ‘pleading’, they landed a venue. Museum Hill. Great venue, right? Everything was going well with the planning up until a week to the event when Museum Hill gave them the boot for a number of reasons that I am not able to disclose at the moment.

You think that was bad? There was already an issue with the ‘alleged media sponsor’ Capital FM who pulled out and demanded that their logo be removed from anything to do with the event and that they did not want to be ‘associated with the event’. The reason for pulling out revolves around shady dealings, Maqbul Mohammed and Grace Makosewe (formerly of Capital FM) So, without a venue and a media partner what do you do? Scratch your head.

The sponsors were not informed of the issues mentioned above and they were later told about the lack of a venue, TWO days to the event. Now the running around had begun. With numerous event venues having declined to have the event at their premises, the Adrenalive team was in a predicament. The sponsors’ representatives were not happy with this but were assured that the event will go on and that it will be successful.

A venue was finally found, Prestige plaza ROOFTOP. This venue and space has hosted numerous events, day and night parties. Yet again, the ball was rolling. Hopefully without any hitches.

This was however not to be as on the day of the event, there was heavy downpour The management of the mall, after a discussion with the Adrenalive CEO, Ahmed Mikwa informed them that they cannot have the event at the rooftop but on the third floor in a room. The information that was given to the sponsors was that the event couldn’t be held at the rooftop due to the rain and flooding. The rooftop has never flooded even during el-nino rains. The sponsors were yet again fed with blatant lies and they agreed to take the room on the third floor.

This Al Jazeera Film Is A Must Watch (Video)

Filmed on two continents over four years, The Last Battle traces the story of a small group of elderly Kenyans in their successful fight to win acknowledgement of the abuses suffered at the hands of the British colonial authorities at the height of the 1950s Mau Mau emergency.

With intimate and disturbing interviews, observational footage, photographs and archive, this revelatory and compelling documentary follows the legal case in London and lays bare a history that was deliberately hidden, allowing the central protagonists to tell the world, for the first time, their stories and what happened to them.

For example, Paulo Nzili and Ndiku Mutua speak about how they were castrated with pliers when they were arrested for being part of the Mau Mau, while Naomi Nziula speaks about miscarrying after being sexually assaulted with a glass bottle, after she was arrested on suspicion of being involved with the movement. In June 2013, British Foreign Secretary William Hague announced that 5 228 Kenyan victims would receive payments totaling £19.9m following an out-of-court settlement.

Filmmaker Jemma Gander says, “As a British filmmaker I first learnt of the independence struggle in Kenya after reading an article in an African magazine. I was both shocked yet eager to find out more about these freedom fighters who were tortured by agents acting for the colonial authorities in the 1950s. Britain is often seen as the paternalistic colonial power in comparison to other European powers and I was keen to reveal the truth about the British and their often brutal suppression of a people who were fighting for self-rule.”

The Last Battle screens tomorrow on 4 December 2013 at 20h00 GMT on Witness, Al Jazeera’s flagship documentary strand, but you can watch it here

Jamaican DJs Flirt and Hit on Homeboyz Radio’s Sexy Presenter on Air

Sepetuka came and went but the award-winning artists it attracted are still in the country enjoying what Kenya has to offer. Two of those are Jamaican deejays, Seani B and Robbo Ranx. Yesterday the two were on HBR and the two bad boys started flirting with Talia on air!

It all started on Talia’s show, “The Juice” when she tried putting the two on the spot before the hunter became the hunted. Talia’s stunning body and sultry charm made easy prey of the two deejays that seem to have perfected the art of seducing women (even on air).

Robbo started the onslaught with his comment, “Am like the Roger Federer of Dancehall…strokes! I stroke dem over de net!…STROKES!!!”

And then the interview just headed south when Robbo added, “Am actually looking at her tongue ring. Are we allowed to say she a piercing in her tongue?”

“I like her lipstick,” Seani interjected.

But Robbo wasn’t done. “I like your make-up…it’s flawless!”, adding, “I actually like your hair style”

As if in a contest to compliment Talia, Seani added, “I’ll be checking out her outfit…the wedges…”

The bad boys then ask her out on a date and even want to toss a coin to determine who will take her to the cinema.

The third season of Shuga kicked off last Sunday and was aired on national TVs at 11PM across the country to coincide with World AIDS Day. Taking over from its forerunners, Shuga 3 promises a lot more sex, lies, love, and more sex.

Shuga 3 was filmed in Nigeria for the first time ever, utilising a predominantly Nigerian cast and crew. Set in Lagos, it stars Nigerian actor and musician Ikubese Emmanuel Ifeanyichukwu aka 9con, who will reprise his role as smooth-talking bad boy Femi from Shuga 2.

Kenyan actor, singer and radio presenter Nick Mutuma, a veteran of Shuga having appeared in all the 3 seasons, will revisit the role of Leo, one of Shuga’s most popular characters.

In this episode;

When Femi (Ikubese Emmanuel Ifeanyi) returns from Nairobi to Lagos, a long standing secret upsets the relationship between his music promoter friend Ekene (Okezie Morro), and Ekene’s girlfriend Foye (Maria Okanrende). Meanwhile Foye’s best friend Sophie (Dorcas Shola Fapson) is outraged when her little sister Princess (Sharon Ezeamaka) appears unexpectedly on campus.

Macklemore’s Trumpeter Drops A Mind-Blowing Hot Single

He calls himself the Pied Piper to the Universe, The Dizzy Gillespie of Hip Hop and The Sultan of Swag,he is Kenyan-born-Seattle-based Trumpet Artiste Owuor Arunga.

He is the mind-blowing talent behind Macklemore’s  signature trumpet sound in ‘Cant hold us down’ and despite his success in the USA he has not forgotten his roots.

Arunga has decided to give Kenyans an early Christmas present and released a single that will first play in Kenya before its international release.
Black as they come is the name of the single and features talents such as rapper Dadabass (who is his sister Geneiva Arunga, “a powerhouse rapper, poet and storyteller from Kenya, living in Seattle, Washington”) and  Felicia Loud.

So does that mean that we could be seeing the last of Macklemore and Owuor? Owuor made it  clear that he is not parting ways with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis by saying that

“I’ve always been a collaborative artist (The Physics, Thee Satisfaction, The Heavy (UK), BlackStax, My Own Project) but it’s been so busy I have been neglecting my larger ecosystem of artiste, so I felt like I had to get everyone in the studio and drop something cause it felt right… I’m multitasking, spreading the love… I’m inspired and taking action.”

Here is Black As They Come, prepare to get mind -blown!

Former Tahidi High Actress & Gospel Singer Admits Being a Wannabe

It’s known that we all want to be a part of like, the lifestyle; the lifestyle that everybody kinda wants, thanks to the surreal A-list celebrity-obsession we all have so much so that the celebrity culture is being eroded by wannabes. Today, celebrity status had lost its value and a celebrity now is just someone on the telly.

Anyhow, a fast rising female Gospel singer and former Tahidi High Actress has admitted that she’s a wannabe. Dee (Diana Kiamba) is however quick to point out that hers is different; she’s a Jesus wannabe. In her latest track featuring Holy Dave, the Gospel rap sensation says, “You can call be a wanna be…but it’s cool coz I wanna be just like You (Jesus).”

The track has been done by Mgangez of FullHouse Studios, famous for his smashing tracks for hip-hop clean up artistes like Christ Cycoz, Kelele Takatifu among others. The video was done by J Blessing who didn’t disappoint as usual.

This is the third music video that Dee has done after the success of “I’m a star” and “Victory Dance” with the latter doing so well in the charts and becoming a favorite tune among dance crews.

Kenzo Of Ogopa Deejays Pees On Himself After A Failed Robbery

You know Kenzoas an Ogopa Dejays artiste who brought you hits such as Mama Milka Zam Zam, Hey You and Jiwachilie.

Yesterday, Kenzo was on his way to a show in Maua(one hour away from Meru), with his DJ, when their car spun out of control thanks to some mud then crashed. When they were in a standstill, a gang of thieves surrounded their car and asked them to shed their belongings. That’s until they spotted Kenzo. “Mazee huu ni msanii!” they exclaimed, and proceeded to discuss the way forward in kimeru. After an intense spat and deliberation which was followed by Kenzo urinating in his underpants, they decided to let the artiste go.

The robbers actually helped Kenzo and his DJ out of the rut, and they managed to perform as planned. With changed underpants of course. It was a good show in the end.

“If Kenya was an employer and you were to reapply for a job to be a Kenyan, would Kenya employ you?”

Comedy giant, Heartstrings Entertainment, has not been left behind in commemoration of the 50 years of independence.

Under the masterly eye of the comedy guru Sammy Mwangi, they return with the original rib-shuttering year-ending comedy, “50% Kenyan.”

Comedy: 50% Kenyan

Times: 6.30 p.m. weekday, 3.00 & 6.30 p.m. weekends.

Each Kenyan has a way they define their Kenyaness. We each have our very own way we think Kenya should be seen. One would think that that is not a problem. But it is.

We have embraced Kenyaness by ironically going against their fellow Kenyans. We have come to believe that our view about Kenya is the best and more supreme than others. We selfishly have different look of the same. This has made Kenyans tear into each other at the smallest difference.

As we mark 50 years, each Kenyan has his thought as to how Kenya should mark 50 years of independence. Heartstrings Entertainment will hilariously tell of the story of these Kenyans who jealously are commemorating Kenya in 50 in their own way. They have the strangest way of doing it.

Some think that their tribe represents Kenyaness. Some think that their gender or their religion, class, colour, position should represent Kenyan. There will be a whole lot of laughter when all fight for what they stand for ironically unaware they are clashing for the same thing.

The big question is “Are You Half a Kenyan or A Full Non-Kenyan? If Kenya was an employer and you were to reapply for a job to be a Kenyan, would Kenya employ you?
