Top “STAR” Journalist Posts Picture Of What He Found In His Pocket… Including Bhangi (PHOTO)

First it was Kus Ma. Then Huddah and now it would seem the Bhangi bug bit top STAR columnist Oliver Mathenge and he decided to share his Bhangi breathing bravado with the rest of the world. The lad who has an otherwise uneventful instagram account decided to post some audacious picture and this was it:

OLIVER_MATHENGE_BHANGI.jpg

But I judge not for we all have had our bhangi sponsored moments and I am actually an advocate for it’s legalization although I stopped smoking bhangi a while back. What I am wondering is why he is insisting on smoking both bhangi and cigarettes rather than keeping to the all natural herb.

Drama!!! Ghetto Radio Bans All R. Kelly Songs

American singer-songwriter and record producer, Robert Sylvester Kelly known professionally as R. Kelly, can keep on talking in the free world, but Kenyan fans of Ghetto Radio won’t be listening to him or any of his hits. The singer whose new twelfth solo studio and sexually graphic album, ‘Black Panties’ is receiving massive airplay globally will be given any airplay by the youth-oriented radio station.

Ghetto Radio argues that say R. Kelly must first clear his name of the allegations of multiple rapes levelled against him. This comes in the wake of Ghetto Radio’s commemoration of The Glass House 2013 Serious Request #SupaDada Edition.

The banning notice on the radio’s site reads:

Every year Ghetto Radio holds its annual serious request with a theme that is community based. This year marked the year of the ladies where we had to give it all to our lovely women.

With that in mind Ghetto Radio banned all the songs by award winning singer R.Kelly who has been accused of getting off with sexual assault of underage teens.

His song will be off rotation till he clears his name.

In 2008, R Kelly was acquitted of a string of child pornography charges. While Kelly has settled multiple cases alleging sexual abuse out of court, Ghetto Radio seems angry that he’s never been criminally charged with anything but making child pornography.

Meet DJ Hypnotiq’s Shockingly Beautiful Girlfriend (PHOTO)

Two words that best describe DJ Hypnotiq? Fat. The other word? Bubbly. That is DJ Hypnotiq in a nutshell. Fat and bubbly. He is the embodiment of the research study that found that hefty people are generally happier. The lad who DJs at most top events and everyday is on “Live on Blast” -an interactive lifestyle show that airs on KISS TV seems to be a Buddha of sorts.

And his good vibrations have attracted a lass who is unbelievably comely. Not that I am knocking his game but I didn’t think he would be able to bag such a hotty. Wonders will never cease. But without further ado, I present to you, the beautiful lady DJ Hypnotiq introduced as his leading lady:

8 Things about Lupita Nyong’o through the Lens of Leading American Online News Aggregator and Blog

Decency, class and sheer talent are the words that best describe Kenyan Hollywood actress, Lupita Nyong’o. Lupita is living proof that you can make it, without bearing it all to the public. And we’re not the only ones who have noticed her impeccability.

Over the weekend, American Online news aggregator and blog, Huffington Post, paid a glowing tribute to the screen goddess.

Check out all the fascinating facts they’ve learnt about the star;

1. She hates to shop. Seriously! Although we can’t believe it.

2. But, she “adores” working with her stylist Micaela Erlanger.

3. She thinks Anna Wintour is “sweet” and “gracious.” Gasp!

4. Her beautiful, flawless skin wasn’t always a reality. Growing up she had a skin disorder that was cleared by medicinal herbs from Madagascar. Amazing!

5. She’s been bald (well, almost) and beautiful since she was 19 years old. She cut off all her hair after getting fed up with her weekly salon visits and using so many chemicals and dyes.

6. Although Kenyan and raised in Kenya, Lupita was actually born in Mexico and her name is the diminutive form of the name “Guadalupe.”

7. Her first big acting break was playing Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet” at a repertory theater in Kenya.

8. She attended Hampshire College for her undergraduate degree and then graduated from the Yale School of Drama.

Check Out Octopizzo’s Impressive Shoe Collection Easily Estimated At Well Over 102,000/- (PHOTO)

“Get that mullah, buy that ndula!” That was the hook of the first song I ever heard that made me take him seriously as a mainstream artist. That song was the song that introduced Octopizzo to Kenya and he seems to have taken it’s meaning to heart.

The lad recently posted a picture of his rather impressive shoe collection that consists of over 10 Air Jordan sneakers amongst others and I was blown away. I thought Ian Mugoya, Kus Ma (Camp Mulla) and I were the only lads with such impressive shoe collections but I seem to be wrong.

The lad posted the picture on his instagram account and this is how simple the post was:

Jimwat thanks ‘Hero’ Jaguar for Saving His Life

James “Jim” Wathigo Mburu better known as Jimwat feels “blessed and fortunate” that he is recuperating well from his near-death experience.

The Genge rapper nearly lost his life after a horrific highway disaster that left one of his leg and hand badly fractured. After a road accident near TRM Mall on the Thika highway left him bed ridden and in serious condition on 5th October.

Singer and successful entrepreneur, Jaguar, is credited with assisting raising the hospital bill that enabled Jimwat to undergo surgery at the Kikuyu Orthopedic Hospital after his family appealed for help. Jaguar saved the day after fellow Genge artistes who had pledged their support never delivered.

In an exclusive interview with Jaguar, the benevolent hit-maker says that Jimwat is so grateful for the support accorded to him. He’s however quick to point out that he’s not chest-thumping for saving the Genge rapper’s life rather he did that out of the friendship he shares with Jimwat.

Meanwhile, Jimwat is recovering after his near death experience, and the rapper is now out of danger but still has one more constructive operation to go.

Jaguar Kicking It With The Deputy President William Samoei Ruto (PHOTO)

Jay Z has rapped about him texting Obama. And now it would seem Jaguar can claim the same in any song he does -only with Obama’s Kenyan counterparts Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and his deputy. The artiste formerly associated with Ogopa Deejays before he left for Main Switch has before been seen having a tete-a-tete with the men that hold the highest office in the land and has on several occasion been invited to State House for tea.

And so it should come as no surprise that today he is again seen bending the deputy president’s ear over a matter that seems to be of great import to the two men if the looks on their faces can be used as an indication of the gravity of the topic.

Pretty impressive stuff from someone who was once a matatu tout. Mwanaume ni effort indeed (A man is -measured  by- his effort). Check the picture out below:

TPF Winner Hope Has Already Recorded A Song With Sony Music

Straight off his TPF 6 win, hope is not wasting time! Rather than partying and spending the money he won, he has already moved on to making music and I am reliably informed that he has already made a track courtesy of the international recording label Sony Music group.

That was actually one of the perks of the competition he won: he would move on to make music with Sony Music and the lad isn’t dulling or trying to waste time, he is hungry for more money and fame.

I am actually really impressed because most lads his age would be shirking and lounging enjoying the perks of making a windfall. But not Hope. The video I am also told was already shot and is being worked on prior to it’s release.

Trust me when i say that Hope is the one TPF winner to watch out for from all indications and I am eagerly anticipating the release of his new song and you should too!

Keep it Ghafla for more information on Hope as we move onwards and forwards in the new year.

Cyber Bullying: A Look At Linda Nyangweso,Vera Sidika And Miss Kenya Cases

Unless you are a god, we have all encountered bullies once in a while, but the worst kind of bullies have got to be cyber bullies. They hide behind they screen like cowards, after all it is easier to be mean when you are anonymous. Most of these bullies unfortunately do not have the balls to tell you such things face to face, they just type away unnecessary insults for their entertainment completely disregarding your feelings or the repercussions of their actions.

Cyber bullying is an unfortunate habit in Kenya with people like Linda Nyangweso, Miss Tourism Kakamega 2013,Susan Mirfat and Vera Sidika being a few of the victims. The bullies call it Roasting and you do not have to mess Up to be a victim, you can just be a normal person minding your own business and they attack you just because you called yourself the Cutest KOT. So what if you call yourself the Cutest Kenyan On Twitter? Is having a self esteem a problem now? And how does someone calling themselves the Cutest Kenyan on Twitter affect your life? Do you fail to eat just because someone has called themselves the best thing since sliced bread?

Unfortunately most of us just watch on the sideline as  someone gets mowed over by strangers which is terrible. To quote one Desmond Tutu “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.”

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ed/Desmond_tutu_20070607_1.jpg

Desmond Tutu

I’m Glad one Julie Gichuru Spoke out against Cyber Bullying after Susan Mirfat was viciously trolled into Stardom thanks to a Tujuane date gone wrong. Julie had this to say “The current hideous and relentless online bullying of a young lady for a choreographed tv show is simply sad. We must reject #bullying”

Despite Julie campaigning against bullying yet another victim was thrown under the bus, Linda Nyangweso. She was bullied over her weight completely disregarding her feelings Linda did not take this lying down and her response was a classic:

First *Linda Nyangweso*-not my name. Second: thank you for exposing your ugliness and pettiness behind your pseudonyms and trying to dampen my shine. it’s cool though #nothingbutlove .believe it or not, me being a big girl isn’t exactly news let alone Kenya’s best kept secret. I have a music video and guess what, I’m in it .I have a facebook profile and guess what, I’m on it. In full view of the world. Unashamed and beautifully and wonderfully made. I really could keep going but why should I? I’ve got bigger things to do and I am on the Christ side of life and I am way too blessed to stress. Third: if me waking up in the morning and loving who I am offends you, well tough! #gonnakeepshinning #wwjd #kiss100

Beauty queens have not also been left behind with Miss Tourism Kakamega and Miss Kenya being ridiculed for not being ‘beautiful enough to be a miss something’. Socialites have not been spared either with Huddah and Vera Sidika being some of the common victims. But these girls sure know how to handle their detractors with Huddah serving them with attitude and Vera Sidika poking fun at herself too till her detractors got bored of mocking her and started sucking up.

So how do you handle cyber bullying? How do you handle negative opinions from people who do not know you?

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/139/a/e/cyber_bullying_by_shadowrenegade6785-d50dj8g.jpg

I have had my share of bullying in my life and to be honest it was a terrible time that is until I was reminded that you should not listen to opinions of depressing strangers hiding behind a keyboard. The opinions of your friends and family are the ones that matter. Negative opinions of a person who is nobody to you should not be held in high regard, if you can, ignore them. But if they become rampant and you can no longer ignore them seek professional help to help you deal with it or speak to someone who knows you and cares about you.And to the bullies:

Clash of the Titans: When Celebs Clash, Who is the Winner?

Celebs have stirred controversy with their opinions on public matters. However, it’s totally a different story when celebs clash leaving fans to ‘spectate’. However, when celebrities clash, is it okay to declare winners and losers, or is that just too much mean-spirited fun for mere mortals to have? This I ask in reference to one of the hottest stories this week.

So yesterday, Kawira of Papa Shirandula, decided to throw Classic 105’s Maina Kageni under the bus referring to him as “a clownish Radio Presenter–who is NOT even married”. This, in regards to the relationship counsel he dishes out during his show. However, Kawira’s sentiments seemed to have stirred the beehive as Maina’s colleague at Radio Africa, Caroline Mutoko, came out guns blazing and took shots at Kawira for trying to “malign” the Classic 105 breakfast show host.

Kenyans were not left out in the drama as they weighed in on the issue with everyone taking sides with either ‘camps’.

With that in mind, my position is that nobody has to neither win nor lose. It seems to me that if a couple breaks up it could just as easily be two losers if they ended on bad terms and didn’t learn anything from the situation, as it could be two winners if they ended on good terms and learned valuable lessons about themselves in the process. In my opinion, the real winners are the gossip sites, like Ghafla!, that get another week of justified existence with all this personal clash bull*defecate*.

Celebrity world is a vicious circle; Two stars enter, one star leaves. And so on… So really taking sides is just as stupid as it can get. Kenyan celebs like the politicians are all pals, out of the public eye. Unless we are talking about Hollywood, where there are real beefs that results to guns cocking and guys getting popped up, it’s never that serious in Kenya.

Yes, they may clash in opinion over certain things in public, but that’s where it just ends. It’s all for showbiz and so when you, the fans, react (overreact) it’s a win for them. It’s one of the indicators that they are still relevant and have clout over the crowd.

The celebrity world is just so full of egos and personalities that cause some celebrities to clash. Feuds and beefs form but I can assure you that things will RARELY get ugly, even if they are under the radar and we don’t get wind of them. Why? All these are cronies.

So, stop determining the winner, Ghafla! is…

Kus Ma ( Formerly K’Cous Of Camp Mulla) Produces And Features In An awesome New RnB Track “Down”. Check Out The Video Here (VIDEO)

Kus Ma was the force behind most of the amazing Camp Mulla tracks and he cemented himself as a producer of repute in more than just Kenyan music. Actually, everything about him reminds me about Kanya West -if he were skinny and short but aye, you get my drift.

And this time he decided to focus his efforts into making an RnB track for his friend and long time collaborator yet virtual unknown J. Smiles. The young lad J Smiles was behind the hook to their lcontroversial song “Smoking On the Sour (S.O.S)”.

Well this time he is on more than a hook, he’s now the driving force of this rather melodious RnB track which features Kus Ma’s signature style instrumentals. Check the track out and let us know what you feel:

Nonini: I Might Not be Right about Everything but I Hope You Learn Something New from this Post

When the elders speak, you should listen because most times they have the answers to your questions. Well, urban music pioneer and the godfather of Genge, Nonini, is about to dish out some wise counsel so listen up!

Here’s Mgengetrue’s Open Letter:

“Napataga thousands of emails from upcoming Artists/Singers wanting me to help them get started in music. In Reality kuongea ukweli siwezi saidia kila mtu and to be honest people look at established artists and think its easy and that “Tumefika” but honestly bado!!! We have problems on a whole different level that you cant begin to comprehend but we deal with it.

If you are a singer, you are a singer … if you are an actor/actress that’s what you are. I don’t believe in upcoming status. Usiwai sema mtu (Am an upcoming Artists/Actor etc). Moving on, some of you believe that once you start you will automatically become famous and start making money. It’s a process, the bitter truth is it does not take a day to grow a tree and that applies to humans. If you take a minute to research on other great musicians you will realise that they put a lot of handwork and dedication over the years to be where they are now.

Hii ni my humble opinion! I might not be right about everything but I hope you learn something new from this post.

First of all, you have to know your market and study your audience. Music is NOT music. There are different types of music. What I found out is that any music that is danceable in the club will spread like wide fire. So start from there, make party jams and not only you can dance to, but friends of friends can go crazy for. The song should be produced with quality sound / good producers (no excessive use of Kapuka Beat Tsawa).

Secondly, Make friends with DJs. I tell you, like it or not, they are the best promoters. They would play your songs at every event and get people asking, ‘who sang this song?’ You can never go wrong with DJs, before you know it, your song will be aired on radio and TV channels.

Thirdly, have a relationship with entertainment bloggers. They are the group of people that are becoming very powerful on the internet. Robert Alai’s,Ghafla,Niaje,Vibe Weekly,Daily Post etc….But if your stuff is interesting they automatically pick it up.

Next, never underestimate the power of social networks like facebook and twitter. Always share a link to your songs on social networks. You should create a fan pag and encourage people to like it and share it to friends. Some friends are supportive but dont be discouraged if they are not, you can do it with or without them because people who you dont know will appreciate your work and helppromot it on their page.

Finally, you have to be hardworking, Rome was not built in a day. It takes a lot of determination to achieve your goal. Read and watch interviews of famous stars and learn.

Good luck with achieving your dream.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY 2014……”

Thee MC Africa (Taio Tripper) Responds To The Critics With A solo Track (VIDEO)

When the Camp Mulla we had come to know and love came to an abrupt end, alot of the members reinvented themselves. Miss Karun became Lady Karun, K’Cous became Kus Ma and Taio tripper became Thee MC Africa.

Thee MC has just dropped a new track off of the projects he had been working on and this one is actually a teaser but it gives you a taste of whats to come and I honestly need to get your honest feedback on this jam before I can give my opinion.

The thing about this is that it displays his versatility and showcases his lyricism as he is off the usual tip of party songs and takes us on a more introspective soul searching tip as he reflects on his life and the journeys he has been on.

Poll Results: Who is Hotter? Bridgette Shighadi Or Brenda Wairimu?

I recently sought to find out just who between Brenda Wairimu and Bridgette Shighadi is sexier and people responded. Actually, it seems to me like this was a contest for finding out who is better. in all fairness they look pretty similar:

They more or less have a similar complexion. They more or less have similar body types which I am informed is called “laptop” and they more or less have the same facial structure. however, given the fact that Kenyans are not fashion conscious, they do not really know Bridgette the model.

That is why when I asked you to vote, you made this one about populartiy. Anyway the vote was nowhere near close, unanimous doesn’t quite capture the gap but Kenyans have spoken. The sexier klass it seems is Brenda Wairimu.

Bridgette Shighadi – 28.3%

Brenda Wairimu – 71.7%

House Of Lungula Actress Campaigns Against People With Zero Talent Getting Jobs Based On Looks

A few years ago, a local program aired and it had the largest number of beautiful people in one place and the set, lighting and picture quality were amazing. I was pulled in like a moth to light.

But Alas!I regretted as soon as I tuned in as 98% of the characters were bland and boring and their acting skills left a lot to be desired save for a few characters. In summary the program was an epic fail and the only way one could watch it was on mute. The one in charge of casting seemed to have hired the people based solely on their looks and ability to speak English. Don’t get me wrong, looking good is great but having actual talent is even better. These were sentiments echoed by one of the most brilliant women I have seen on screen, Liz Njagah Konstantaras

Casting is a very important part of a movie; one casting mistake can change the whole tone of a movie. Casting people cause they look pretty but can’t act is an epic fail if you ask me. You are better off going with talent than looks. Anyone can be made to look pretty with the right make up, clothes and lighting. (Just google before and after pictures) If you find both “looks” and talent. Good for you.

Is This K24 Screen Siren Expecting Another Baby?

With 2014 fast approaching, the expectant mommies and daddies in Kenyan celebville are gearing up for parenthood. From first-time parents to experienced ones, celebs are looking forward to welcoming their new additions. One of those is distinguished fashion blogger, Nancie Mwai, who is ready to pop.

On the same note, there are those who look like they might be popping! K24’s Terryanne Chebet seems to be expecting another kid if any of her activity on Instagram is anything to go by. The gorgeous Business News anchor is, in fact, already window shopping for a baby pram.

She posted two photos of two high-end baby strollers and when one of her followers asked, “Are you preparing for another?!” she simply said, “Ain’t we all?”

Could her sweet daughter, Imani, be soon getting a playmate?

Whether she’s expectant or not is just a matter of time.

According To Google, Huddah Is More Popular Than Raila Odinga And William Ruto

If Google is to be believed -and why shouldn’t they be?- then Huddah is much more popular than some of the nations veteran politicians. And if you think that they do not know what they are speaking about then you’re a fool: they virtually own the internet.

That being said, Huddah took to her instagram account to take shots at Vera Sidika’s not so dainty derriere and the alleged cellulite on it. That being said, check the list out below and check out the shots Huddah let air:

Muthoni Drummer Queen is A Secret Millionaire!

Muthoni Drummer Queen  is a half bald, red headed, leather rocking ROCKSTAR whose 10 week journey is now almost at its peak – at least for this stage!

The final song off the MDQ album is out today, Friday 20TH December 2013.What seemed like a long uncharted journey will be wrapped up by her latest track, Secret millionaire (mdq10). One of MDQs personal favorites in the album, with a beat and harmony to murder any competition, and the super sounds of Marvin B (a talented dancehall voice from the 254) on the chorus is the cherry at the top!

The excited musician had this to say about the new track:

It’s all here. 10 songs, 10 stories, the reason we do this … nothing more and nothing less. If music is a currency, MDQ is that secret millionaire.
Shout Out to all the secret millionaires out there, the makers of this amazing music – my competent Swiss beat makers – GR! And Hook, without who we couldn’t have been this strong, this heavy, this banging!!
To the fans … enjoy the music, keep supporting the art, MDQ is about YOU!!! You make me everything I am today. You are witnesses to riches in glory. You are secret millionaires!!!

Octopizzo Is Back In Nairobi And Check Out What He Had For Lunch (PHOTO)

Octo was recently on holiday and he was having a ball with his wife and daughter but he seems to have really missed some authentic Kibera food and that seems to have been the first item on his agenda when he got back.

My man Octopizzo came back into the country, ran through airport security and found himself in the heart of kibera enjoying a mountain of food. Just what he ate, I do not know. what I do know is that he enjoyed it heartily and when he was done, he belched a content one and went on his merry way having supped with his fellow Kibera folk.

What Happens When Calif And Grand Pa Clash? Find Out Here

when i heard that Grand Pa and Calif were going to be on the same track, I knew sparks were going to fly. I had no idea who Grand Pa was going to tap into given the depth in their stable but i had a rough idea of whom Calif were going to turn to and when I heard Pizzo Dizzo was the choice of the former, I was shocked.

Would she have the talent necessary to hold her on against a proven lyricist -Mejja? Or would she be a fly on the wall; an ornament placed in the song for the sake of getting her name out there. Well, I have heard the outcome and I have to say that I am impressed. Not only did Pizzo hold her own, she excelled. She stood out and for that she has earned this writer’s respect.

The track’s video was shot by Young Wallace and it is actually really good -a good picture to compliment a a big tune!
