Rabbit Got Kicked Out of a Club He Was to Perform At

Rabbit is one of the best rap artistes in Kenya right now.

This Friday, he releases his second album at the Louis Leakey Auditorium (National Museum) with a show between 7.00 and 11.00 p.m.

In an interview with Niaje, he responded to a question about his worst moment by narrating an incident that happened when he was still green in the industry.

There was this time nilifaa ku-perform and I was still new in the industry. So, nimetoka kwa hoteli naenda kuingia kwa stage and this bouncer hanijui. So, this bouncer akani-tackle, ‘we unaenda wapi bana?’ akanichuja ndani ya club.

(I was meant to perform on stage while I was still new in the industry. I was from the hotel, on the way to the stage and the bouncer didn’t know me. The bouncer tackled me, ‘where are you going?’ and he ejected me from the club.)

Regular tickets to Rabbit’s album launch are going for Kshs. 1,000 while VIP tickets are going for Kshs. 2,000.

Drama as Gospel Radio Presenters and DJs Vow Never to Play His New Song

Chances are you’ve never watched nor heard Willy Paul’s new jam playing on any Gospel TV show or radio station. Reason? Gospel radio and TV presenters as well as DJs argue that Willy Paul went too far as the song is not anything close to Gospel music, and so only stations like Kiss 100 and One FM are playing the track.

This means, Willy Paul’s royalties from the song may not be as much as he’d anticipated because every time a song is played on the radio, the singer earns a residual payment. Apart from shows and endorsements, this is the only other source of revenue for singers, and so Willy Paul may not earn as much.

The controversy in the song, “Missi” surfaces when Willy Paul compares God to a baby, a lady and even a thug!

He says, “Ungekua kabinti ningecheza love song, huku na kule ningekufuata wewe…ungekua mtoto ningekutoa nappy, kila siku kubali ma-pampers…ungekua jambazi ungenitenda, singecomplain.”

Critics have been arguing that the song lacks creativity and is blasphemous, so much so that it’s probably the first ever song to get a 0 rating (out of 10). This has really affected song, only managing a paltry 5000 views on YouTube one month after it was uploaded, something few and far between for Willy Paul’s songs.

Listen to the song below and decide whether the Gospel fraternity is justified;

Ciku Muiruri Explains Why She Is Leaving Classic 105

From Easy F.M to Classic 105 we have faithfully followed Ciku Muiruri for a daily not forgetting addictive dose of BUSTED Show.

The show aims at catching wayward lovers and it often leaves us dazed in shock or on the floor with laughter. Ciku Muiruri recently announced that she is leaving radio and the lovers and haters alike were sad to see her leave. Many asked, why did Ciku leave Classic and yet her career is as its peak? This is the explanation she gave:

I have said it on facebook and twitter and I have said it on my radio show. Today it’s in the newspapers, where I’ve been quoted confirming it’s true. Yet people are still asking: “Is it true you’re leaving Classic 105?”

Yes, it’s true. This is not a publicity stunt. No, I am not angling for more money and yes, I’m done being a radio presenter. 24th December is my last day.
I owe my fans an explanation and have given it – 15 years has been a good ride and it’s time to get off the train. I want more than this. I need a bigger challenge. I want to OWN the train, not just ride on it.

Be patient. All will soon be revealed.

Talent Without Hardwork And Humility Will Never Take You Anywhere! :Jalang’o To Willy Paul

Apparently, Willy Paul’s song has been having a hard time getting played as the gospel family felt that the song is not ‘gospel enough’ for gospel radio stations.

Willy Paul has had his share of controversy and word on the street is that the boy is big-headed but there is one thing we cannot deny. The young man is BRILLIANT, arrogant or not and his song Missi gets a rare thumbs-up. It’s catchy and one can see that Willy has grown as an artiste.

Funny Man Jalango’ gave his two cents on the issue:

Let me play the devil advocate in this! Willy Paul has a new song out that you might not get a chance to listen to because the gospel family ,Presenters,Djs have said that they will never play it because they say Willy Paul has gone too far and the song is not Gospel ! The song is called Missi! in this song he compares God in a metaphor to girl, baby and a thug and that’s where the issue with this song starts…This is the only song that has ever been rated 0 out of 10 because the columnist also dint see the creativity in this song.Yes Willy has had his fair of controversies but that should never be a reason for you not to see the talent in this boy….and to Willy..brother Talent without hard work and Humility will never take you anywhere! Listen to Missi and see creativity at its best!

SO WHO EXACTLY IS THE TARGET MARKET FOR THE NEW ‘BOSSINI’ BRAND FROM DEACONS?

Deacons CEO, Mr Muchiri Wahome is bullish about their new fashion brand, Bossini. He was quoted as saying, “Deacons has invested approximately invested USD1 Million in the two Bossini stores at the Village Market and Yaya Center.”

These new stores will provide shopping convenience to the current customers who live around Nairobi while tapping into a new market with the local and international brands that Deacons has to offer.
The CEO explained that the drive to expand to Asia brand was informed by market needs globalization.
“The Bossini brand appeals to mass customers with colorful and contemporary designs. While Bossini has a large selection of styles in ladies, men’s and Kidswear, DKL is cognizant of local customer tastes, preferences, weather conditions etc in selecting the product to be sold in the local market. The expansion strategy is in line with the growing middle class as reflected by the growth of store footprint and the locations the growth is occurring especially, Thika Road Mall where we have experienced an increase in the recruitment of new customers within the middle class segment,” Muchiri said.

He further added, “It is also part of the Group’s strategy to diversify its supplier base to other geographic location around the world and also getting closer to source (manufacturing).”

Currently, the country does not have any industry statistics around retail market share. However, several dipstick surveys suggest that Deacons command a significant market share.

Commenting on pricing, Muchiri said, “Bossini is in the mid-tier of our pricing matrix across all our brands. The brand’s competitive advantage will be a differentiated casual offering at great value and will penetrate the middle income segment of the market.”

Deacons have a very successful track record of bringing fashion and lifestyle retail international brands into Kenya and the region. Working well with these global partners has allowed the company to extend its alliance base including a recent launch of the European brand Zara into its own 4U2 stores.

The Zara brand is part of the Inditex Group one of the world’s fastest growing fashion brands. These kinds of partnerships will strategically enable Deacons to bring global fashion in East Africa and continue to play a leadership role in this sector.

Deacons was established 54 years ago and have gone through a lot of transformation in the last few years. It is the umbrella company which owns and manages various internationally acclaimed retail brands in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. These brands comprise of Woolworths, Truworths, Identity, 4U2, Mr. Price, Mr. Price Home, Angelo, Adidas, Life Fitness and Babyshop through either full ownership, joint venture or the franchise model. The brands meet the needs of various customer segments due to their diverse product offering and unique brand proposition. In 2010, the retail shop went public to raise Sh700million capital for expansion.

BREAKING: Tarrus Riley To Perform At Kenya@50 Celebrations!

Tarrus Riley has just announced that he will be performing at the Kenya @ 50 celebrations on Friday December 13!

We obtained this photo of Tarrus showing off an airplane ticket, and when zoomed in, showed that his destination was indeed Nairobi:

Now he has also announced that he will indeed be singing on December 13(this Friday). In an online statement, Tarrus said:

“Happy Independence Day to all my Kenyan family! God bless you all! We will celebrate at my concert December 13 in Kasarani Stadium #kenya50”

This is really exciting, but also really funny at the same time, because in Ghafla’s exclusive video of Tarrus Riley apologizing to Kenyans, he said that he would talk to the president about coming back for a free concert:

{youtube}LVq-N-3vvW4{/youtube}

This set off online jibes about Tarrus adopting ‘naomba serikali’ attitude after only a few days in Kenya, but it seems like he wasn’t playing. This for me is DEFINITELY the best plan for Jamhuri day, and I will be there fo sho fo shizzy! Will you?
