Being a boy mama is dirty, messy, and extremely loud. It’s a bit like raising a band of pirates. But there is absolutely nothing better than little boy cuddles and hearing “I love you, Mommy” from my sweet (and sometimes stinky) boys.”

This is a quote that I read from in Shell, Things I Can’t Say  and I thought this beautiful quote was perfect for this article. Raising a child especially a boy child can be difficult but at the end of the day, when you see your sometimes out of control testosterone-driven boys turn into respectful, successful and compassionate men  it’s worth the trouble.

I know it’s not yet mother’s day but today we get to celebrate the most famous mothers and sons

This is the second and the last part of the open letter that was written by veteran Nation columnist Clay Muganda about news anchors and TV presenters:

“Years back, Kenyan viewers would probably know from roadside mechanics what makes of cars you drive.

Not any more.

Nowadays, viewers just have to watch breakfast TV — that lifestyle programming where you showcase the best of the best of you — and know how many slow-moving vehicles you drove past in the past month, how you parked, what makes of useless cars blocked your parking bay, and how you swatted them away…

Some pesky entertainment writers have argued that you should just read the news and be done with it since people do not need to know what you ate for dinner, which parties you attended, where you do your hair and nails, what perfume you wear, the works.

Forget about them for they know not what they are saying — just like you.

There were days when it was difficult to know whether you were dating or engaged.

Not any more. It is de rigueur to run into the studio set screaming, showing your ring, getting all excited and saying how your marriage, which you confuse with a wedding, will be a classy affair.

“Hey, hey, hey look at my ring. I am so engaged and I am going to have a wedding.

You must be happy because I am also happy,” you scream, making your co-presenters look bewildered and wonder why you did not just continue rotting in the radio studio.

But you certainly and suddenly make viewers forget about your numerous previous engagements, none of which ended in a wedding.

You are much more than TV presenters.

You are fashion icons, the top-notch type who cannot qualify to be even called catalogue or brochure models, but viewers are stuck with the extra flesh above your knees, your décolletages, the tattoos on your pelvic bones, your birth marks in your armpits, the scars under your soles all which you have made a healthy part of the TV menu which you feel viewers should definitely know about.

The reason you are the best is because you shoot from the bulging — or even padded — hips and take the dresses from the designers before they are done with them and you dress exactly how you saw model do it on runways.

In a sentence, you have put fashion before function just like Kenya’s media wished it to be and viewers remember your looks more than the news.

That is just right because you are simply conforming to Kenya’s modern Journalism Code of Conduct which advocates for more vision and less telling — and even lesser knowledge of current affairs!”

I came across a very thought provoking piece that was done by a veteran Nation journalist; Clay Muganda. The piece calls to question everything we have come to accept about the way the evening news is presented to us. This is what he had to say:

Darlings, I trust that it is better late than never, especially if it is about thanking you for offering Kenyan viewers the all-important pieces of information in 2013, a year in which you not only revolutionised local television, but also changed the way Kenyans watch the news.

Dear screen sirens, Kenya’s female television presenters, this piece could have come earlier, but other things came in the way.

Still, why not deliver it when the less important distractions are out of the way?

If anything, you deserve your exclusive “me time”, which in essence is your time when all the Happy New Year noises and the attendant resolutions have died down.

Ladies, why lie, you have taken professionalism to the newest levels on the low side.

As I have already written, you have revolutionised the way news is presented and changed the way Kenya’s television viewers dress, speak, eat, breathe, date, chew gum, preach, walk, keep fit, treat their pets and children and shout — or whisper loudly.

Of course, news is boring and needs to be spiced up, given that Kenya is a country where leaders get misadvised every so often that it is hard to know when a bullet hits a politicians’ vehicle or vice-versa.

Just like the news, Kenyans are equally uninteresting and not interested in the humdrum, and usually switch off their TV sets or walk out of places where TV sets are during the news. That is passé.

Nowadays, thanks to your industriousness, ingenuity, and equinity, especially when it comes to the type of hair on your heads and of course, your different ambiguities, they run, nay, scramble, towards TV sets during the news just to watch you.

Gems of national importance

Visual beings they are these viewers, especially Kenyan men, but at times they listen to you just to hear those gems of national importance that you offer about yourselves, titbits which could previously only come from unreliable gossip columnists.

By watching you, viewers get double — or even up to sextuple — the information, and the pleasure, for less than half the price of gossip columnists’ poorly-written, factually-incorrect pieces.

They no longer wait for these plebeian columnists to tell them whether there is a bun in your oven or when it started baking.

Oh, isn’t it just lovely how you have cut the waiting period by infusing extremely important pieces of information in the news bulletin by telling the viewers that you have just eight months and 30 days to go.

“Reports by Kenya’s medical experts reveal that pregnant women, even those who conceived yesterday like me, face numerous dangers…,” you tell viewers who just want to know less-important things like whether the multi-trillion shilling railway line will be built before Kenya turns 100.

Those of you who already have children extend useless information platforms to the social media and when their toddlers are unwell, they are not taken to see the doctor.

Their sicknesses are announced on news media and the mothers gain loads of sympathy which probably makes the children feel better.

That is probably what Kenya’s modern lifestyle doctors ordered. It must be called e-medicine.

That is not all…

I received word about all this a while back but I decided top cool down on everything to allow myself time to investigate the allegations and give every side of this coin an opportunity to talk and give their story and Obinna is one busy man. Reaching the lad has been hard.

But the low down is this, a lass who is called Charlotte claimed that she sired a child with the comedian. According to her, the pair had allegedly been an item for a while long before he (Obinna) was discovered and back then he was quite the lad or so she says. That was allegedly before she begun to hear all the rumours about him bedding other women.

They first got to know each other back in January 2009 while they were both still in high school she says and they opted to keep thing quiet so only his cousins and a few of her friends knew about the love affair back in Makongeni area of Kisumu.
Their relationship gave fruit in form of a daughter who was born on the 11th day of November 2010.

I asked her what the issue was and she opened up telling me that Obinna had allegedly abandoned her and their daughter. According to her, Obinna has refused to do anything in regards to taking care of his alleged daughter.

I reached out to Obinna for his side of the story and I have to say that it was… unique… I have never seen such a response. He laughed. Hard! Obinna laughed and laughed and said that he has only 3 children  and he takes care of his responsibilities. He then advised the lass to try her hand at comedy.

After the Christmas break Historia Films are happy to announce that due to public demand, their adults only comedy “HOUSE OF LUNGULA” is coming back on the big screens in Mombasa and Nairobi making 2014 officially a Lungula Year!

Are you an upcoming artistes and you want to contact your favorite singer or rapper and you dont know how to go about it, or do you wanna get in-touch with a radio presenter to let him or her know how much you like his or her work? Or maybe you’re trying to get your music them?

Meeting or contacting a famous person can be difficult because of their busy schedules and their strong desires to have privacy. But with a little work and some light research, it is possible. Here is how to contact famous celebrities;

METHOD 1: ONLINE

Find them on a social media network or on a legitimate website. Finding one of the following is an important first step in contacting celebrities. Make sure that the website is frequented by the actual celebrity, not their agent, publicist or an impersonator. The following fall in order of “most likely to contact” to “least likely to contact the celebrity.”

    (I) Twitter: Look for “tweets” that are posted by the celebrity. These tweets should be directed back at people who “tweeted @” the celebrity, that have actual photos of the celebrity that are taken in real life (not a studio or “official” portfolio photos), or “tweets” that are written about daily experiences of the celebrity. These are all good signs that you can “tweet @” the celebrity to actually contact them.

   (II) Their “Official” Website: Celebrities almost always have “Official websites” that they promote. This means you have a chance of being able to contact them via this method. While it’s not preferred, since usually these are “managed” by publicists or agents, this can be a way to contact them. Search the site for actual responses to fan mail. If you can’t find them, move on.

    (III) Facebook: Most Facebook accounts are “managed” by someone other then the celebrity. Again, you are looking for posts or pictures that seems to be from the celebrity themselves. If only “professional” photos and posts exist, this isn’t going to be the best way to contact them. Chances are this will be the case

METHOD 2: THROUGH MAIL

(I) Find an address. Sometimes addresses are available on the “Official Websites” of celebrities. If you don’t get move on.

(II) Wait for a response. Depending on the celebrity, they may be getting dozens to thousands of messages a day. This means they will need time to shift through and find yours

Now you know, So calling Ghafla! to ask for celebrity contacts will be like abusing us 🙁

One of Uncle Chim Tuna’s nieces approached him with a very interesting morsel of information: she claimed to have pictures of Lupita Nyong’o and her former lover as they participated in various activities and naturally my interest was piqued.

And as such, I naturally embarked on an endeavour to find out more about the pair. Lupita is one of the hottest brands in Hollywood at the moment and with good reason; she has more talent than Kenya was prepared to handle.

And without further yammering, allow me to introduce to you Lupita Nyong’o’s ex: Alexandros Konstantaras. The man who is also an actor met and fell in-love with Lupita in Rwanda at a film festival.

The pair proceeded to date for some months before she elected to leave him in Kenya to pursue higher education in America (Yale). But wounded though he was, he bravely decided to plod on through life and he met the love of his life Lizz Njaga. the two are now happily married.
