But when it came time to choose the subject for their video of the song “Matatizo” last year, the Kenyan musicians known as Just a Band abandoned the surreal and the ironic for the infamous torture chambers of Kenya’s Nyayo House. They even posted a link on the YouTube page to a 77-page report on the victims of torture under former President Daniel arap Moi for good measure.
“We’ll never solve things unless we stop sweeping things under the carpet,” Bill Sellanga, one of the group’s members, said backstage at a recent concert.
The political video would have been impossible under Mr. Moi, who kept an iron grip on the country for more than two decades. Just a Band formed in 2003, the year after he left office at a time of creative ferment following years of repression.

They call it the game of the rich and sure it is. Earlier this week, Capital FM owner and Rock DJ, Chris Kirubi (also known as DJ CK) crowed about playing the sport alongside American comedic and dramatic actor, producer, and rapper, Will Smith.
Himself one of the golf-crazed celebs in Kenya, CK revealed how an ‘extremely rare’ chance it was for him to be on the same golf course with the 45 year old Hollywood celeb.

In 2010, Event Organizer Kevin Ombajo, better known as Big Kev, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He went under the knife to extract it locally but 13 months down the line, following a series of migraines, he discovered the tumor had recurred and so he left for India for a cyber-knife radio surgery.
All was well since then until most recently in August last year when he was diagnosed with yet ANOTHER tumor and he was set to return to India for yet another operation.
Big Kev left for India and underwent a 5 hour surgery. The Hulky celebrity is back in India but this time he went for a routine follow up on his surgery and he thankfully got assurance that he was healthy. The obviously elated star had this to say;

This was at a golden globes nominee party. Lupita was nominated as Best Supporting Actress in director Steve McQueen’s acclaimed movie, 12Years A Slave. This is a big feat on her side as she managed to bag a Golden Globe nomination on her first silver screen role.
Idris Elba is a double nominee for a Golden Globe this year for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie for British TV crime thriller Luther, and Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for his convincing portrayal of Nelson Mandela Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.

One of the problems we Christians have is how we handle our disagreements. This is emphasized all the more when the principals have little oversight of their ministries. Such situations often occur in megachurches as well as tiny gatherings striving to grow outside more traditional church structures. However, what happens when megachurch pastors clash?
The Nairobian is reporting that Prophet David Owuor and Bishop Dr Margaret Wanjiru are embroiled in an ugly fight over claims of prosperity gospel and ‘fake miracles’. The two servants of God have been lashing at each other, each questioning the credibility of the other’s miracles, qualifications and dedication to serve God.
Prophet Owuor has over the past few months been castigating ‘false prophets’ whom he claims their sole aim was “to milk money from the congregation”. But he was more than blunt recently, when in front of huge crowds in Kakamega and on live TV, termed Bishop Wanjiru “a false prophet”.
He further mocked the Jesus is Alive Ministries founder, saying: “She claims the glory is here yet she can’t even perform one miracle,” to a thunderous crowd. Days after Prophet Owuor attacked her on live TV, Bishop Wanjiru promptly responded.
In an interview with The Nairobian, Bishop Wanjiru dismissed Prophet Owuor as “an idler who has so much time in his hands and nothing to do with it”.
She further questioned Prophet Owuor’s famous claim that he never accepts sadaka from his congregation.
“Can he explain the fleet of expensive cars he drives around in? Can he explain the lavish lifestyle he is accustomed to? I would want to know which spiritual world he gets those things from so that I can also go and get them for myself,” said an angry Bishop Wanjiru.
She further claimed Prophet Owuor’s miracles were highly questionable.
“Can someone explain to me how someone in crutches will walk just for the duration of Owuor’s rally and the next day they are back to using crutches? He just gives people energizers and claims he is performing miracles,” claimed Bishop Wanjiru, terming Prophet Owuor a “one-day miracle man”.
Wanjiru further said she had issues with Owuor calling himself a prophet.
“Who anointed him as a prophet? We are all servants of God. We serve the same God. In fact, Owuor’s academic papers are very questionable,” she said.
Bishop Wanjiru says her church members who were “very bitter” informed her of Owuor’s hostility towards her.
“I ignored him (for days after the Kakamega crusade) as I have always done but I think this time, I needed to respond,” says Bishop Wanjiru.
Bishop Wanjiru attributes Prophet Owuor’s hostility towards her to jealousy.
“He is idle, and he has spent a lot of time trying to fight me, but I let God fight my battles. I ignore him and I think it hurts him. He wants to be noticed. And he can achieve that by attacking me. I remain steadfast in my commitment to serve God and I won’t let Owuor distract me,” says Bishop Wanjiru.
When reached for comment, Prophet Owuor’s handlers declined to comment.

Yesterday, a lass called into Maina’s morning show on Classic FM and made some statements that irked most married women in Kenya. The lass in question called in to declare open season on married men and men in serious relationships. Apparently, no woman owns a man ergo they are fair game.
You got married last week? Good for you. That ring on your man’s has will not stop the new breed of thirsty women from trying to get into his pants and into his life.
While that is great news for men (because it means that your wife can no longer afford to take you for granted), it is horrible news for the family unit because as I maintain, modern Kenyan men are not strong enough for polygamy.
but this is not about Kenyan men. This is about thirsty broads. Why would a woman focus on getting a married man? Well, one caller called in to demystify that and said that there are no men in Kenya so where do we as a society expect the single ladies to land men from? Afterall, all’s fair in love and war!

When Kanye stepped out in a skirt, the internets went wild. In Kenya, Ian Mugoya attempted the same with the same reaction across the board from the internets; shock. And then Versace begun to doll out shirts that were made to look like skirts. i have no idea where fashion is going with this.
