Who Knew Ruth Matete Could Look This Sexy?(Photo)

From jet black tresses such as Vera Sidika’s, to a half-shaven head like Muthoni drummer Queen to Karun’s super cool haircut, Kenyan celebrities are constantly setting and raising the fashion bar.

Tusker Project Fame winner 2012 Ruth Matete has joined the fashion pace setters and cut off her iconic long dreadlocks for something shorter and hotter .A look which I think suits her better than the long locks.

The songstress posted these photos of herself, probably at the beach sporting her new do and looking every inch the super star

Swaleh Mdoe Set To Sue The Standard Group For Saying he Owes 95,000/- In Child Support After Siring A Love-Child. Read The Legal Documents Here

Swaleh Mdoe was recently in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Reports seemed to indicate that he was being sued for child support after having neglected to pay what was due for a couple of years. You can read the article as I syndicated it from The Nairobian.

And now the saga has taken a new twist as Swaleh Mdoe who felt slighted by the reports which he felt are false and libelous has charged his lawyers with holding The Nairobian accountable for peddling what he feels are ruinous lies that could damage his public standing.

The veteran news anchor who plies his trade at Citizen TV is suing for libel and he is going after The Nairobian’s parent company The Standard Group. Check out the legal papers below:

Ref: DEFAMATION-SWALEH MDOE (OUR CLIENT)

We refer to the above matter in which we act on behalf of our above stated client, Mr. Swaleh Mdoe, who has instructed us to address you as hereunder.

That in your publication of THE NAIROBIAN dated the 14-20 th March, 2014, you caused to be published of and concerning our said client a statement “ WHY SWALEH MDOE RISKS JAIL-CHILDREN’S COURT ISSUES ORDER FOR NEWS ANCHOR TO EXPLAIN WHY HE HAS NOT PAID CHILD SUPPORT AS WOMAN DEMANDS SH 95,000”.

THAT at page 7 of the said newspaper publication, you proceeded to expound on your said headline by further publishing, among others, that “ FOLLOWING THE  FILLING OF THE CASE THROUGH HER LAWYER DANSTAN MOGAKA, THE CHILDREN’S COURT HAS ISSUED ORDERS DIRECTING THE CITIZEN TV NEWS ANCHOR TO APPEAR IN COURT AND EXPLAIN WHY HE SHOULD NOT BE JAILED FOR FAILING TO OBEY COURT ORDERS”.

Our instructions are that your statements which were communicated to the public as facts are false, innacurate , reckless and have caused great damage and harm to our client’s reputation and/or standing in the community. Your said false and defamatory statements caused our client to be ridiculed, shamed, hated, scorned, belittled and held in in contempt by other members of the public as the same lowered him in the esteem of a reasonably prudent person, due to the communication of the false statements.

SWALEH_MDOE_LEGAL_PAPERWORK.jpg

In The Nairobian, the report claimed:

  • Fauzia Ahmed (the woman in question) claimed to have cohabited with the news anchor since 2001 until the reportedly got a daughter in 2004.
  • The woman who is targeting his reported 750,000/- Kshs salary. The Children’s Court (where the lawsuit was lodged) also ordered Swaleh to appear before it.

You won’t believe what a Fan Asked of Kiss 100’s Carol (PHOTO)

We’ve all seen videos of celebs signing women’s breasts and even their derrieres. There are even super fans who have celebrity autographs on their skin. In fact, signing body parts isn’t even that weird these days.

With that, it seems Kiss 100’s Carol Radull is getting her own type of unusual requests. The other day, Radull was approached by one memorable fan favor.

“Please Caroll, find me a financially stable lady. Am 27 yrs. From Nairobi. Don’t disclose my request to public please.”

TripleFacepalm.jpg

However, what this guy didn’t know is that Radull didn’t have to ‘expose’ him to the public because the whole time when he thought he had sent her a ‘DM’ his message was on Radull’s TL for all and sundry.

But what did Carol have to say?

Tahidi High’s Shish Looking Hotter Than You Have Ever Seen Her! (PHOTO)

Her name is Shirleen Wangari Kiura but you know her as Shish. This is due to her sterling portrayal of Shish in popular Citizen Show, Tahidi High.

Shish was crafty but could also be brutal and scheming when dealing with fellow students especially those that got in her way. She played a contrasting role as ‘Kipepeo’ a naïve village girl who gets caught up in the ‘good’ life with flying mail. Off-screen, Shirleen does not lose her acting brilliance , I once watched her back in 2004 when she played the role of a Queen in a play called ‘Impendimenta’ by Maryhill Girls and her acting was phenomenal!

I came across this photo of the tall glass of water at the House Of Lungula premiere. Check her out

Wrong Number The Movie Premiere-A Film Revolution Finally?

The Gigantic launch of the independent Crime Thriller Wrong Number continues to stir debates in entertaiment circles and Kenya in general.

The fact that 99% of the cast and crew are relatively new raises eyebrows as to how they could have “hacked it” to the level of having a grand launch that hundreds have already confirmed the attendance.

“We had our own challenges but we had to peresevere as we knew where we wanted the movie to end-in a big screen!” Co-Executive Zeph Mwangi(Bubbly) says.

The launch has generated heat all over and some fans couldnt understand why it was only charged 500/ bob. That’s a low price for a  ticket especially a local independent film.Kenyans spend thousands in other modes of entertainment and could have even parted with a 1000 for the launch.

But Mwangi Kaburugu (Producer and Writer) says that is first to ensure that the culture of going to watch a local independent film in a big screen is encouraged.

We are branding ourselves as part of the future inthe promising film industry. There after it will be easy to charge differently as we shall have a fan base that already trusts us and what we do.

Senior officials of Kenya Film Classification Board have already confirmed their attendance. They rated the film 16 years and looks like they would like to join the rest of Kenyans who will flood Alliance Francaise on 19th & 20 March to have a second look of what they rated.

Cast & crew have been spotted in high end shopping malls fitting in gowns and suits that befits a Red Carpet Launch.

“Where can one hire a nice fitting suit in town?”That was one of the lead actors Jacktone Busaka who plays Detective Morris in the film enquiring after his tailor went upcountry for a function leaving his attire half made.

Some of the actresses have gone a notch higher and online shopping is what they have been upto.

“Its abit tricky for us especially ladies,we have to be ready with at least two dresses & two pairs of shoes during the launch & screening”Koi Ngunjiri -the smart investigative journalist inthe film says.

However it is still a top secret what the two executive producers will put on including the director Phillip Cristian Ochieng.

We hope they will surprise us.
About ticketing,we can now confirm more than half the capacity is filled and the reserved ones are also many though uncleared.

The mode of transport that the cast and crew will use to the venue still remains a mystery with leaks having it that it will be of its kind in Kenya and East Africa in general..
A Facebook post from Mwangi kaburugu ,Writer and producer reads…
………………
“The way planes are “Missing in Transit’…we should revise a way to land at Alliance Française de Nairobi – Artistic and Cultural Events…for  WRONG NUMBER the Movie Premiere and Screening.I mean we dont want to miss the action as the cast & crew..”

We can only hope they will leave upto to their word!!Tickets go for 500 only and can be gotten from Alliance or KU via Agatha 0712 341 176 or Ticket Hotline 0707 555 779.

However its not all rosy and cosy at Wrong Number…we have an expose on behind the scenes that seems to generate heat in the cast & crew circles.Keep it here next!!

Professor Anyang Nyong’o Opens Up About His Opinions Of Kenyans On Twitter

After months of being the butt of the joke whenever KOT (Kenyans On Twitter) want LOLs, Anyang Nyong’o has finally broken his silence. And he did so in a TV interview with veteran journalist Jeff Koinange asking the questions. I found it rather refreshing when the topic was brought up -it shows that Anyang Nyong’o isn’t out of touch.

When the topic was broached, he said, “Kenyans are very creative, but I think that one went too far”  What exactly was he talking about given the specificity? Well, because:

Even after Being Kicked out of Ogopa Deejays Avril Goes Ahead to Release a Hot Track that will Get you Jamming to it

Towards the end of January, Ogopa Deejays shocked the industry when its management decided to pull the plug on flourishing careers of some of its top artistes in the most impolite manner; without prior notice. One of those artists was Avril.

Despite that major stumbling block, Avril’s music career seems to be back on course. Earlier in the month, Ogopa agreed to release tracks for the affected artistes as an interim measure. Consequently, Avril went ahead to release her recorded single with upcoming duo, Boomba Boiz.

Meet Kenya’s Own “James Blunt”

In 2002, James Blunt put down his rifle to become one of the leading singers in the UK. His debut album sold 11 million copies, led by the success of his hit song, You’re Beautiful. Closer home, one KDF soldier is following in the footsteps of Blunt.

Though he’s not planning to quit his army job, Bonny Mosh General has dedicated his spare time to preaching the Gospel through music. Born in Muhoroni, Bonny started doing music back in high school.

“I was an entertainment prefect. I used to enjoy listening to local and international rap music. I’d write a lyrics then perform to an imaginary audience. I would fantasise I was at Carnivore performing alongside the likes of Nameless. On completing my secondary education, I relocated to Nairobi. I would hang around Calif Records to see how the likes of Jua Cali do their stuff,” he reveals.

Even when he’s at the warfront, Bonny doesn’t let his passion for music slide. He says that in 2012 when he was serving in Somalia he was still an entertainer.

“I would rap to the small audience. My friends would request me to perform.”

When he came back into the country, he went to Homeboyz and recorded his single, Father God and did the video at Ogopa Deejays and just like that, he launched his music journey.

Bonnie has already built up an impressive fan base with hundreds of fans following him on his Facebook page and is grateful to his seniors in the army for supporting his singing ambitions.

HIV Positive Gospel Singer Joji Baro Suffers Further Humiliation: The United States Embassy Allegedly Deny Him A Visa For Being HIV/AIDS Positive

Joji Baro is a man who has received one knock after another. He has had a tough time ever since revealing that he is a homosexual with jabs and insults being thrown his way. Then he revealed that he is HIV positive and everyone and their fathers wanted to stone the lad. Now he has yet another institution push him down. Sad indeed.

Earlier today, I came across this post from him:

Joji Baro Joji Baro

It’s done. It’s sealed. You could have seen how I was treated like a criminal at the US embassy Yesterday when I went to find out why is my visa is taking longer to be ready. Eventually, I left there without an answer. The lady on customer care rudely answered my call but gave no straight answer. Meanwhile I have been duped three folds of Ksh. 50,000/- by someone who booked my appointment.
Just like that. And now am yet to come to terms with being blacklisted for being HIV+. I never knew the ban had been lifted as people say. All I know for a fact, am blacklisted on that ground. The forces behind it is a powerful political family. I don’t know whether am sad or scared. Am just confused. Been sleeping since Yesterday lunch hour. I was supposed to leave Today for Dallas ahead of my perfomance at the Pride Pool Party in Texas on 21st. All this is too much…can’t handle it. Can’t take it anymore

Apparently, from his statement, he has denied a visa to visit America, the land of the free, home of the brave, for a gay celebration because he is HIV positive. I decided to get to the bottom of the matter. I called up the American Embassy and was promptly connected to the relevant work stations: Uncle Chim Tuna makes things happen.
But sadly, my efforts were fruitless. After several connections and re-connections, I gave up what was turning into a fruitless chase. But Uncle Chim Tuna is resourceful. I Googled the matter and found a helpful website with the  resources I need:

Ineligible for a US visa forever

Schimmel warned that those who are caught lying may be rendered ineligible to apply for a US visa forever.

The applicants who end up in this category include:

He said: “It has to be something significant as what I described. If somebody, for example, has exaggerated their income, that’s a flaw, a mistake – we’re not likely to consider that a permanent ineligibility. But a combination of that and several other misrepresentations might lead to [that].

That was according to: http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/250290/pinoyabroad/some-common-reasons-why-people-can-t-get-us-visas

And then there was this piece of contradictory information that seemed to suggest that if indeed, Joji Baro was denied a visa, his human rights might have been violated:

On January 4, 2010, the HIV ban on travel and immigration, which had been in place for two decades finally came to an end. With the end of the HIV ban, being positive is no longer an automatic ground of “inadmissibility.” For foreign nationals seeking to enter as tourists or short-term visitors, being positive should not be an issue at all.  For lawful permanent resident applicants, being HIV-positive still could affect USCIS’s determination about whether you are “likely to become a public charge.”

That was according to: http://immigrationequality.org/issues/hiv/the-hiv-ban/

Hmmm… This calls for further digging. Perhaps an official will respond about the US embassy’s position on the matter. Even if it would be to tell me “You craned too much from our silence.”
