We called up Miss Mandi who said that she was no longer at Kiss Fm but she was not fired, she had actually handed in her resignation.

Churchill Now Officially Joins the “Millionaires’ Club”

Churchill has become the first person to claim 1 million Facebook fans.

The veteran comedian is the first celebrity to reach the milestone on the social networking site, with 1,003,565 ‘likes’ as of April 9.

He has attracted over 16,600 fans in the past week, according to his page insights. He first took the mantle of most popular celebrity on Facebook after eclipsing President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013, making the comedian the most popular Kenyan on the social media network.

However, his closest competitor, President Uhuru, is not far behind, with 926,969 ‘likes’.

Churchill now joins the likes of KTN Kenya and NTV Kenya in the “millionaires’ club”.

Churchill_Thank_You.jpg

Even with these impressive numbers, no living person (or TV show) is popular enough to be the most-“liked” page on Facebook. The top four slots are occupied by the Facebook for Every Phone app, Texas HoldEm Poker, YouTube, and Facebook itself in that order.

Man Fired After A Tragic Tujuane Date Apologizes

I honestly do not know why people go on Tujuane because you not only become the butt of all jokes but you stand the risk of losing your job such as Tender Ooko.

Since the 22 year old first came into the limelight after a Tujuane date gone wrong, Tender has become the poster child of inconsiderate men and to top it off he lost his job. Tender was fired from his job a t a beauty parlor following his misconduct on Tujuane after the women were up in arms following the derogatory terms he used on his date.

A composed and sober Tender took to NTV’s The Trend to clear the air and to prove that he was not a ‘meanie’ as people pegged him out to be. Just lie Susan Mirafat a.k.a. Mirfat Madharau, Tender revealed that the person you see on TV is not the real him. Check out the rest of the interview here

Forget the MAZIWA DERBY. Forget the MASHEMEJI DERBY. The Ngong’ Racecourse and Golf Park brings you Kenya’s most prestigious horse racing event. The Salama Fikira Derby on 13th April 2014 as from 12noon

There will be a total of eight races the highlight of which will be the Kenya Derby with ten runners who have been prepared and tuned over the last two years by their trainers to perform at the highest level. This is the most famous and richest classic race in the local racing world and covers over 2400m in less than 3 minutes to clear the tension and declare a winner without the intervention of the judiciary.

The day will just not be about the races but also activities off the track for the young ones. The children will have numerous games including the now popular star jump, Face painting and candy floss. There will also be food stalls Craft market, Fancy Dress, photo booth and of course Live Music.

Here is the fascinating part; BEST DRESSED PRIZE: DINNER AND A MASSAGE FOR TWO AT VILLA ROSA KEMPINSKI. Just remember to dress to kill and to impress the judges and walk away with the top prize. The judges will be mingling with the crowd to pick out a winner.

Orphaned at a young age, Gospel sensation Kevin Bahati grew up at a children’s home and has ultimately struggled to beat the odds thanks to his music prowess.

Bahati has just released his 5th single which is a love letter to his Maker. Titled Barua, Bahati is grateful to God for what His unending love which is a complete contrast of what love means on earth; and that’s why he refers to Him as “Daddy”.

Hollywood Film Starring Kenyan Actor 5th Most Popular

Kenyan actors are “on their Lupita Nyong’o” (to use Jay Z’s words). Just days after Lupita made her country proud, another Kenyan is treading the same path.

Benjamin Ochieng, known for his work in Tears of the Sun (2003), Kwame (2008) and Inception (2010), is headed for glory. As Benji is currently in the country to promote his latest movie, God’s Not Dead, the movie is doing extremely well back in the US.

Rotten Tomatoes, the ultimate movie and TV database, has placed movie 4th on its Weekend Box Office Chart just three places below Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Noah and Divergent.

A young boy fighting cancer writes letters to God, touching lives in his neighborhood and community and inspiring hope among everyone he comes in contact. With almost no one in his corner, Josh wonders if he can really fight for what he believes. Can he actually prove the existence of God? Wouldn’t it just be easier just to write “God Is Dead” and put the whole incident behind him? GOD’S NOT DEAD weaves together multiple stories of faith, doubt and disbelief, culminating in a dramatic call to action.

Tahidi High Actor Reveals How His Guardian Tortured Him That He Almost Killed Himself

His story speaks volumes of what many other orphaned kids may be going through in the hands of those entrusted to look after them. At only 18, Kelvin Rost (Kelvin in Tahidi High) has been through what most of his age mates haven’t only hear of.

The Tahidi High actor recently opened up to Julie Mugure of Salon Solutions magazine about his tribulations.

He reveals he’s never met his parents as he was orphaned when he was very young and adopted by his grandmother who also unfortunately passed on leaving him under the care of his uncle and aunt. And marked the genesis of his problems.

“They were not the best of ‘parents’ and it looks like they were set out to make sure my life here on earth is a living hell. They tortured me emotionally, physically and financially. They used to beat me up for no apparent reason and they stopped paying for my school fees with the money sent to do so from a children’s home I was registered in.”

Kelvin_Rost_1.jpg

At one point he even considered suicide and nothing could stop him from that.

“Life seemed to have no meaning and at that time, suicide seemed the best option out of my misery. One morning during prep time I swallowed tens of pills and slept hoping to never wake up.”

To read more about Kelvin’s difficult upbringing, get your hands on the April issue of Salon Solutions magazine.

Lillian Muli Explodes On A Kenyan On Twitter

As a person in the public eye, you get a lot of varied opinions about your work. Most of it positive but sometimes negative. Then there is the positive criticism that most people, find it hard to take in.

Lillian Muli blew up on a fan who asked “Does @lillian_muli prepare for interviews? Her Qs are kawaida, she just laughs & smile asking funny questions, AKWARD!!!!!(sic)

Lillian Muli did not take this kindly and retorted “@Damahngash millions appreciate the show if you don’t are entitled to your opinion you are hereby Blocked! I dislike negativity!”

Here is the exchange:

First Ever Gospel Artist Signed to Ogopa DJs Reaches another First for Self & Record Label

Since its inception in the late 1990s, Ogopa Deejays has produced the biggest artistes and songs in the industry some of which are still a hit today. However, the record label has never released an album by a Gospel artiste.

And now 26 year old Silas Mwenda is here to change that. The only Gospel artiste signed by Ogopa, he’ll not only be the first artist to release an album at the stable but the Gospel album will also be the first for Ogopa.

In 2010, he released his debut song, Nakuhitaji, which did very well both locally and internationally winning Silas nominations and consequent awards in an American music awards in 2012. All this came as a surprise to him because he was able to achieve so much within a short time.

And now, Silas is ready to drop his album to the world.

Dubbed, Hakuna Matata, the 10-track album was produced and mastered at Ogopa Deejays studios in Nairobi. The album, with an international outlook, is set to drop next month.

Silas_album_release_2.jpg

“I’ve named HAKUNA MATATA for easier international branding because I now have a some following from around the globe. The songs are in English, Swahili and my mother tongue, Kimeru, and they revolve around the contemporary Christian way of life,” explains Silas.

Wedding Bells: Teacher Wanjiku Gets Proposed To (Photos)

Valentine’s Day may have been ages ago but by the look of things this could be Tr. Wanjiku’s Valentine Year as her beau Victor Ber has popped the question.

In what looked like a Birthday party, Victor popped the question and Wanjiku said yes. It seems that Wanjiku’s tide is turning after all following her show being cancelled this year.

We wish the lovebirds all the best in their new journey together.

After Being Called A ‘Kiatu’ On Tujuane, Tujuane Girl Finally Speaks Out (Video)

Sophia Juma had the displeasure of being on one of the most punishing Tujuane dates with one Tender Ooko.Unlike his name, Tender was very mean and plain nasty and subjected poor Sophie to a series of exhausting and maddening questions such as ‘Are You a virgin?’ and ‘Have you had an abortion?’

The date was agonizing and painful to watch, I’m sure if it was another girl she would have smacked the living daylights out of him, but Sophie was composed and mature about it.

To compound this already grueling date, Tender referred to her as a kiatu i.e. ugly

Anyhow, Tender’s misdemeanor cost him his job and also cost Sophie her ‘street cred’ as people thought she was meek and had self-esteem issues. The lass went on NTV’s The Trend where she finally got to respond to Tender Ooko’s nasty comments

She brought two shoes, one a Timberland which she said ‘Kama mimi ni Kiatu mimi ni kiatu high class yaani Timberland’. Picking up an old shoe that looked like it had seen muddy days, she said that Tender was that kind of Kiatu

Octopizzo Kicks Off his Tour of Europe. Check Out what He’s Been Doing

Namba Nane rapper, Octopizzo, seems to have discovered that he has even greater popularity abroad considering his music is actually more successful overseas. Between concert tours and chart-topping singles, numbers don’t lie when it comes to his foreign appeal.

With that in mind, the “Blackstar” hit-maker left the country for his tour of Europe that will see him perform in 5 German cities. According to his 6-day itinerary, Octo already performed in Waschbar Uferhalle in Berlin and still has 5 more performances with the next one tomorrow (9th April).

Dubbed Spoken Worlds, the tour intended to promote his Chocolate City album will reach its culmination on the April 12 at Lido – Benefizkonzert before he comes back to Nairobi.

Here’s Octo hanging out in Berlin;

At the end of the day, Octo, along with many others, are just trying to make a shilling and if that means taking their talents abroad, then so be it. Besides, if they can’t sell out in Kenya, then they better be able to sell out elsewhere, or they’re going to have to get a day job.

This Is Why You Will Never See DJ MO And Size 8 Together

Since they announced their marriage last year, Size 8 and her husband DJ Mo have managed to keep a low profile.

They are hardly ever seen together and just like their marriage, their private life is pretty much a hush-hush affair. In fact one photographer who tied taking a photo of the two together revealed to us that taking a photo of the couple together is pretty much a tall order.

Judith Mwobia, one of True Love’s feature writers got to sit down with Size 8 to find out why they seldom appear in public together.

Size 8 revealed that “Samuel values (DJ Mo) his privacy. Top Journalists Detained for Being a ‘Security Threat’

With the latest spate of terrorist attacks on innocent civilians, security breach is out of the question. However, in some cases, some private security personnel use excessive force in not-so tense and potentially dangerous situation.

Last Friday, two of Kenya’s greatest showbiz columnists, Grace Kerongo of The Star and Cate Mukei of The Nairobian were unlawfully detained by security guards at The Panari Hotel for interviewing a guest “without permission”.

Thing is, Kenyan Hollywood actor, Benji Onyango, known for his work on Tears of the Sun (2003), Kwame (2008) and Inception (2010), was in the country to promote his latest movie, God’s Not Dead and as such he was staying at The Panari.

So, when Grace, Cate and a camera guy caught wind of his visit, they decided to seize the opportunity to interview the Kenyan-born actor.

However, all did not go well as the interview was put to a stop as soon as it had begun.

Reason?

Well, according to Grace, Panari’s management were disgruntled as to why the journalists had not sought “permission” to interview their guest saying it’s their policy. Four security guards allegedly rushed into the place to stop the interview as one of them manhandled Richard Malowa who was doing PR for Benji’s team.

“We were detained for 2 and half hours ati as they try to sort out the issue. The security supervisor one Ishmael Njiru was thretening ati this is a police case you will be arrested for trespass,” protests Grace.

The hotel’s management argues that they asked Grace to stop the interview but she declined and instead insisted to know why she had to, upon which they informed her that “they were not told”. At that point, Grace politely asked them to address Malowa since he was the one who called them for that interview and carried on with the interview. It’s then that the security guys were summoned.

“Kwani, how many times have journalists conducted interviews with celebrities who visit, at the hotel lobbies?” Grace wonders aloud.

The security and PR & Marketing of the hotel spoke to George Hargreaves, CEO, Kingdom Cinemas Limited, who was in charge of the production crew PR, to sort out the issue.

Hargreaves says he “had to sign a bunch of papers and an apology over the issue”. He later asked what other hotel would be recommended for when they come back for the movie premiere in April 18.

An onlooker at the hotel, Oki Odula says, “After the journalists were shuffled off, one security guy came back to ask Benji to leave because he probably looked down to earth and didn’t have the airs of a star who’s lived in Tinseltown for decades. But he stood his ground and told them he was a guest at the hotel. They left him alone.”

Oki adds, “The funny thing is that another press interview was ongoing at the restaurant with an executive of Pure Flix Entertainment who was also part of the production team. Nobody asked them what they were doing. Folks need to stop discriminating. It made the hotel look dumb.”

The security supervisor, Ishmael Njiru maintains that both the hotel guests and the journalists were supposed to follow the hotel’s policy.

“It is hotel policy to inform them what you are doing in their premises because it is private property and we have the right to admission,” held Njiru.

Meanwhile, God’s Not Dead premiere’s in Kenya on Wednesday April 16th in Nakuru the Christian Revival Church (CRC) at 7:00 PM and on Thursday April 17th at Century Cinemax, Junction in Nairobi.

“Gay People Are Here To Stay” Tahidi High’s Shish Says

Since the Ugandan’s placed a law prohibiting homosexuality and a certain Kenyan MP proposing that homosexuality should be outlawed, the gay debate has become widespread. To ban or not to ban, that is the question.

I personally believe in live and let live, if someone is not imposing their sexuality on you then let them be. If the parties involve are two consenting adults and no animal, unwilling partner or child is involved, who are we to stand in the way of love?

We caught up with one of Kenya’s most talented thespians, Shirleen Wangari popularly known as ‘Shish’ so that she could give her two cents on the matter. This is what she said:

“I think people should choose how they want to live their lives, I don’t think you should kill someone because they don’t live their lives the way you want them to live their lives.”

Lupita’s Brother Riding on Her Famous Sister’s Coattail to Fame. He’s Also Now an Actor!

Word on the street is that 20-year-old, Peter Nyong’o, younger brother to Hollywood star, Lupita Nyong’o.

Peter’s meteoric rise to fame started at the Oscars (when he managed to get a selfie with nearly every A-lister at the Oscars) and since then he’s become a “person of interest” in Hollywood. A backbone to her elder sister, the freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences at Stetson University is her sister’s biggest supporter.

And now, Peter is ready to tread the path that Lupita took.

Earlier today, Peter posted a photo on IG and wrote, “Student Directed One Act Shows starting this Thursday 10th! #CantWait”.

In any event, it’s kind of safe to say that with his sister’s name is out there and that will probably help him get his foot into acting. If so, Peter wouldn’t be the first celebrity to use his/her sibling’s notoriety as a platform to get their own names out there, only to end up creating their own lane and doing their own thing.

Go Peter, go!
