Forget the MAZIWA DERBY. Forget the MASHEMEJI DERBY. The Ngong’ Racecourse and Golf Park brings you Kenya’s most prestigious horse racing event. The Salama Fikira Derby on 13th April 2014 as from 12noon

There will be a total of eight races the highlight of which will be the Kenya Derby with ten runners who have been prepared and tuned over the last two years by their trainers to perform at the highest level. This is the most famous and richest classic race in the local racing world and covers over 2400m in less than 3 minutes to clear the tension and declare a winner without the intervention of the judiciary.

The day will just not be about the races but also activities off the track for the young ones. The children will have numerous games including the now popular star jump, Face painting and candy floss. There will also be food stalls Craft market, Fancy Dress, photo booth and of course Live Music.

Here is the fascinating part; BEST DRESSED PRIZE: DINNER AND A MASSAGE FOR TWO AT VILLA ROSA KEMPINSKI. Just remember to dress to kill and to impress the judges and walk away with the top prize. The judges will be mingling with the crowd to pick out a winner.

Verdict: “The greatest ignorance is to reject something you know nothing about”. A visit to the race course is a must do Kenyan event, at least once and do place a bet to experience the complete package that is the fun of the race day!!!

Lillian Muli’s Fashion Police Mock Politicians’ Horrible Fashion Choices

Kenyan celebrities beware, Lillian Muli’s fashion police are watching! Do not be caught looking less than neat as a new pin, pair your loafers with your linen, your tans with your browns and under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you be caught basking shirtless in trousers and covered in sand.

These were a few lessons Kenyan politicians learnt this week after the fashion watch zeroed in on them. Citizen Fashion Watch panel is comprised of Robert, a renowned fashion consultant, Ian Mbugua TPF Judge, Carol Odero- Drum editor and Annabel Onyango a fashion stylist.

I tuned in a bit late but I got to catch a few politicians whose fashion faux pas were the topic of conversation.

The Fashion Watch focused on the recent ODM Devolution Conference that was held at the coast

Isaac Ruto governor Bomet county and his counterpart Hussein Dado his Tana River counterpart were first on the list and the panel felt their outfits covered with an orange lesso made them look like convicts who had just broken out of prison . Ian who is a straight shooter said that he thought the two looked like man and wife! Ouch!

The Usain Gishu governor showed up in a Maasai Print shirt and trouser which the panel felt looked like Pajamas and his Akala shoes did not fly either and it was deemed ‘unacceptable’ for a dignitary to show up in Akala

There was also an unspecified bigwig who decided to pose by the beach, hand on head in a sexy pose while the panel admired his spirit of playfulness they felt that the pose was too ‘playboy cover model like’

In between fits of laughter and criticism the panel also commended those who had gone out of their way to look dapper and one of them was PLO Lumumba who had attended a wedding in a high thread count, well tailored and fitting jacket that had a Chinese color. They thought he looked pretty good in his signature look. Half of the panel also named Ruto as Kenya’s best dressed politician while Annabel thought Najib Balala was always well turned-out.

Juliani Reveals How Kaberere was Instrumental in Convincing him to Get Saved

Friends and fans all over the country have been mourning the death of Gospel singer, Peter “Kabz” Kaberere, since his tragic accident on Sunday evening. Gospel singers have taken to Twitter & Facebook to describe the pain they are feeling, and the moments they shared with Kabz.

As a stunned Gospel fraternity continues to reflect on the life of Kaberere, one of the best lyricists of our time, Juliani has opened up on how he shared his childhood with the late Kaberere and how he led him into salvation.

Posting on his Facbook fan-page, the ‘Utawala’ hit-maker termed the fallen vocalist a “Goodman”;

Meanwhile, award winning TV producer, Arthur K, has eulogized Kaberere as “…one who stood out for me, continued and upto his demise we can all testify he never stopped doing music for his God.”

Arthur K with Teacher Wanjiku

He wrote;

I remember very well like it was yesterday, 2003 when I started The Stomp, I met a trio of young men who were very much on fire for God, the name of the group ” joggc”. They all had great ambitions. The group was to later join another group which was also doing very well and they formed gospel fathers. Among all of them the one who stood out for me was the one who did, if not all but most of their hooks. Like most singing groups at a certain time the group was no more. But the one who stood out for me, continued and upto his demise we can all testify he never stopped doing music for his God. Kaberere rest in peace. Its God who gives and its God who takes.

This is how Celebs Celebrate their Children’s Birthdays (PHOTOS)

Celebrity children enjoy expensive and over the top birthday parties because of their famous parents. Forget about bad face painting and supermarket sponge cakes, for celebrity parents a child’s birthday is all about flashing the cash and showing off with glitz and glam.

Over the weekend, Moha of Radio Jambo (Moha the Lion AKA Lion-deh) threw a birthday for her daughter who turned one. Even though hundreds of thousands were not thrown into the party, it was glamorous enough for the Lion’s baby girl; simple, inexpensive and meaningful birthday party.

The event was graced by Lion’s “partner-in-crime”, Mbusii, whom together, they host the Teke Teke show on Radio Jambo.

Famous DJ & Producer Storms Church Accusing Pastor of Preying on His Wife & Taking His Daughter

Drama ensued at a Church in Nakuru that almost paralyzed the Sunday service after the pastor was accused of preying on a man’s wife instead of praying for her.

An enraged Gilbert Pianto commonly known as DJ Gylo “King Wa Beats” went angrily to the Global Visitors Chapel and brazened out the pastor for eloping with his wife of 7 years and 5 year old daughter. According to the furious deejay and producer, his wife left him claiming that she’s going back to her parents only for him to get the rude shock that she’d moved in with the pastor.

“I have evidence of SMSes and everything, uyo pastor mpaka ananipiga,” sobs DJ Gylo adding, “Anatoa wife yangu kwangu…anam-date.”

Security at the church’s entrance barred DJ Gylo from getting into the church as the pastor remained holed up in the building of worship but stepped out violently ready to confront “the intruder” when the commotion became unbearable.

DJ Gylo produced photographic evidence that he was indeed married to the lady caught in the love triangle.

He claims that his wife left his house a year ago without a proper reason only for him to discover that she was planning a bride-price ceremony with the controversial man of the cloth.

The police arrived at the scene shortly and whisked away DJ Gylo and his wife to record statements.

DJ Gylo had posting puzzling statements on Facebook that left more questions than answers for the past 3 days;

For now, the Nakuru-based deejay and producer wants custody of his daughter and nothing to do with his estranged wife.

Here’s the story as carried by K24;

Here Is A Horse Racing Derby You Can And Should Attend

NTV’s News Anchor Mourns Fallen Gospel Artiste Kaberere

Yesterday, the gospel industry and gospel music fans suffered a major blow when they were informed that Kabz’ Antony Peter Kaberere had passed away.

The death of the gospel artiste was announced by his colleagues who host the groove awards. The announcement said

Its with heavy hearts that we confirm that our brother ‘Kabz’ Antony Peter Kaberere has gone home to be with the Lord. Gone too soon..pray for his family.”

Joining the mourners is Ken Mijungu NTV senior reporter and anchor who had this to say:

” Tonight my heart weeps for a man I never knew, bleeds for a family I will probably never know, my soul is heavy with grief and tempted to ask my savior why. Just over a month and a half ago I advertised my car for sale, a friend approached me and asked me to allow him take the car to a potential client at Westlands though jittery I let Eric go with it to meet Peter Kaberere, though we didnt settle on an agreeable price that was my encounter with the gospel artist who said his family was growing hence needed a bigger and better car. Last week as I left my parking at Nation Center I saw Kaberere or someone in his VW pull over and park opposite Bata. We never spoke but it was very late maybe a few minutes to ten PM. I am sad, very sad I never knew him but certainly he had big dreams, he worked hard to reach his goals but God had other plans. I empathize with Njesh and her son, plus a baby Peter may have just seen on scan. God rest his soul. I am reminded that The vineyard owner only picks ripe fruits.”

#ImOnMyLupitaNyongo : Yet ANOTHER Kenyan Steals America’s Heart

Flavor of the month Daniel Adongo received a heroes welcome home after his risky but wildly successful transition from rugby to “football” made headlines. He became the first Kenyan ever to play in the NFL. Turns out he isn’t the ONLY Kenyan

making the headlines in the Yanks most popular sport.

Ramogi Huma. His name has been on heavy rotation during this year’s March Madness media cycle. ESPN, Fox Sports, CNN, MSNBC, The Colbert Report, Sports Illustrated, The Wall Street Journal, The NY Times, The Washington Times, you name it.

Why is he such a big deal?

Take it from the top: College Sports is a multi-billion dollar industry in that country. It’s heavily debated whether college athletes are well compensated for their integral role in the industry: to pay or not to pay is the question. The “pay-for-play” concept is extremely polarizing, so despite the attention the issue attracts, the existing NCAA (National College Players Association) rules remain unamended. It’s because of this status-quo that proposals for change in the NCAA’s rules and practices championed by players are pre-supposed to be repackaged pro-“Pay-for-play” arguments. And we all know… Where there is a loophole, there’s someone exploiting it. As a result, college sports is rife with rules skewed heavily against the players.

After witnessing a harsh penalty exacted on a teammate during his UCLA college football years, Huma formed the NCPA (National College Players Association) to advocate for athletes’ rights. It’s grown to a membership of over 17,000 college athletes to date. He, along with two other former college athletes, took their mission one step further. In January 2014, they founded CAPA (College Athletes Players Association).

I stumbled upon a television interview he gave a couple of days ago. The former UCLA linebacker was promoting awareness about this historic ruling that could possibly revolutionize this billion-dollar industry. The results of a quick interwebs search for “Ramogi Huma” are impressive. If he succeeds in his quest for the badly needed reforms within the NCAA, Huma will go down in history as one of the great Civil Rights Leaders in that country. Once again, Kenya proves to be the common denominating factor in a generation of radical visionaries.

Sweet Mother Mary, Sweet father Joseph, Sweet Jesus, we made it in America.
