Since he first came into the limelight, Anto Neo-soul’s music has never disappointed, his music has classic  and  legend  written  all  over  it.  And his latest album Star Born did not dissatisfy either.

In  his  own  words  AntoNeosoul  describes  this  as  the  journey  of  a  thousand  miles  and  feels  that  though  he  isn’t  at  the  destination  he  desires,  he  is  at  a  creative  crossroads  that  is  unshakable. 

“This album is my prayer, it is a thanksgiving moment.  I  have  laid  myself  bare  in  this  album  and  for  the  last  two  years  I  have  been  through  everything  anyone  can  think  of.  I have  been  beat  up  by  industry mentors  who  turned  into  devils  advocates.  People  who  I  looked  up  to  who  did  not  waste  any  chance  to  bring  me  down.  I  have  lost  faith  in  music,  nearly  given  up  because  of  lies,  deceit  and  industry  cartels  but  I  chose  to  pray,  I  chose  to  fight  back  with  my  music.  The only  three  things  I  could  cling  on  to  were  my  mother,  my  music  and  God.  I  had  chosen  to  get  out  of  my  deal  with  Pine  Creek  Records  because  I  wasn’t  strong  enough,  I  wasn’t  patient  enough,  I  wasn’t  ready  for  the  drama  but  after  the  last  two  years,  I  have  realized  I  am  now  refined.  I have been molded into a star and thus STARBORN. 

I am the result of hard work, patience and passion.  This album is my labor of love.  I  have  become  a  better  writer  because  I  had  myself  to  rely  on; I have become  a  better  singer  because  I  am  now  more  than  ever  honest  in  my  approach,  execution  and  delivery.  I am my own jury and executioner.

Guys, have you not heard that you should not believe everything you read on the internet on April Fools’ Day? Anyhow, the yearly day of pranks was in full swing yesterday and we rounded up a few of the best April Fools’ Day capers…and you guys believed!

#1 Former TV Presenter Severely Assaulted by Boyfriend (WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES)

Read over 14,000 times in less than 20 hours, this was the story of the day. In a cleverly executed story, Elizabeth Irungu popularly known as Liz Sweetie and yours truly made you believe that she’s the latest victim of physical abuse in a relationship.

Thing is, Liz and her friends are just wanted to test the waters “a little” by posting photos of her smacked face and voila! you were all sympathizing with her as you cursed her boyfriend.

Let’s just say no human beings were harmed in the making of this prank. 

#2 After Lupita Nyong’o, Lil Wayne Now Inspired To Work With A Kenyan Artist (PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE)

Really?

Plus-size celebs have been throwing the showbiz scene a curve ball for some time now; even though some have been doing it wrongly. However, there’s one who is totally rocking showing up in a series of monochromatic dresses when she steps out.

Ken Wa Maria aka Kennedy Wambua Nguze was the name on many Kenyans’ lips in the last quarter of 2013 and the beginning of 2014 thanks to his huge tune, ‘Fundamentals’. And now, he’s back!

Few hours ago, the Syindu Sya Mutongoi hit-maker released two tracks that have been adopted from the trending issues in Kenya. Noticeably, Ken Wa Maria has just dropped tracks on Lupita Nyong’o and the quail eggs ‘madness’.

We all know how much everyone and their aunties were going quails & quail eggs crazy wanting to either take part in the seemingly booming business or gobbling down dozens of quail eggs. On why he did a track about Lupita, it’s pretty much obvious; the Oscar!

The two tracks, Matumbi Ma Quail and Lupita Nyong’o were released concurrently and are available on Mdundo for download HERE and HERE.

Will these two also go the ‘Fundamentals’ way?

In 2011, veteran Akorino gospel music singer Hezeh Ndung’u was accused of not paying his bills at Ngara Springs Club in Nairobi that lead to the dramatic dismissal of one of the hotels employee.

In another incident, the singer was accused of defaulting on Sh65,000 payment for hiring a car from Cab Harmonie.

In both instances, the cases were pretty well documented in The Star by its illustrious writers, Grace Kerongo and Cate Mukei (now at The Nairobian).

However, despite the concrete evidence adduced by the writers, Ndung’u went ahead to seek legal redress on defamation grounds; he sued The Star and the two writers.

Well, on Monday (31^st March), the writers appeared in court for the hearing of the case but the plaintiff (Ndung’u) was MIA. When the judge sought to find out where he is, his lawyer told the court that they couldn’t reach him on phone.

This led to the adjournment of the case till further notice.

Speaking to Grace, she confirms, “He just did not show up and his lawyer can’t get him on phone. So I don’t know what’s next. But I will ask our lawyer if a new date has been set for the hearing.”

Prezzo is the undisputed king of bling. Nay, he has alot of contenders for the title going in for his crown with legitimate claims. But this isn’t about them. This is about Prezzo. And that said, I wouldnae wear gold on my feat -probably because I cannot afford to. And that is why I say that Prezzo is more than a fashionista, he is a fashion icon.

It was a reprieve for a section of motorists in Nairobi after comedian and radio host Chipukeezy made their Fools’ Day worth remembering.

However, it was no gimmick as the Kiss 100 radio co-host parted with his hard-earned money to pay the Sh300 parking fee for several motorists. Instead of celebrating the day with various acts of foolishness, Chipu’s gesture was actually wise.

Shappaman was the more volatile member of the Kenyan super group Camp Mulla. Was? Is. he is still a member of the group although they are currently on a hiatus as they explore their artistic talents as solo acts. But away from that, allow me to get down to the matter. And the matter is the sister he calls his beau.

And i was alerted to the existence of the picture by a reader who informed me of it’s existence and asked me to trawl the internets for it. Hpmh… I would have preferred if he had made my life easier. Anyway, allow us to now move on to the actual picture:

Anyway, the partnership between me and Vincent Omondi has uncovered something very interesting that was posted by none other than Tunechi on his Facebook page, no doubt inspired by Jay Z’s toast to Lupita Nyong’o whom he toasted several times on a recently released track.

Anyway, Kenya seems to be the destination as the New Orleans rapper wants to one-up Jay Z by actually featuring a Kenyan artist on his track and he chose Mr. Fundamentals -Ken wa Maria. This is what he posted on his facebook page in the wee hours of the morning:

With the economy struggling and no song from her most recently, people wonder if Nyota Ndogo is making good money. Well, your answer lies herein.

If at any time you’ve thought that music is a useless venture, think again. Actually, if you’re serious at what you do you can become the Jay Z and Lady Gagas of Kenya. The Taarab-influenced pop singer last year, moved into her home that she’d just completed putting up.

Speaking to Nyota Ndogo, she reveals that the house is yet to be completed on the outside as she plans to beautify the garden as well as its interior which needs a few touches. She adds that she built this house entirely out of her music earnings and advices fellow artistes to save for the future.

“Nyumba ni nzuri inaezakukukalisha, siri ni kujipanga tu. Weka starehe nyuma na ujipange.”

She further reveals that she’s bought another piece of land elsewhere and plans to develop it.

On why she hasn’t released any new song, Nyota Ndogo says if you have a good song, it will pay your bills for long as it never fades.

It seems that Mr. Nice’s misery is not ending anytime soon. After being unceremoniously booted out of the Grandpa Records camp, Mr. Nice could be seeing himself out on the cold streets again.

This is because his time with Candy N Candy is almost up after the company tried to get Mr. Nice to his glory days failed since Mr. Nice does not play nice. In addition to his contract ending, Mr. Nice got what the Waswahili call ‘Kipigo cha Mbwa’ from an enraged boyfriend of a girl he was trying to woo.

According to BaabKubwa Mr. Nice got sloppy drunk and started hitting on the girl who was not interested but Mr. Nice was undeterred and continued hitting on the girl whose boyfriend showed up and gave him the beating of his life with the help of his friends. Mr. Nice then passed out and was rushed to the Mwananyamala Hospital in Dar  where he is recovering from the brutal beatings  .

Holding onto the Christian faith is not an easy walk in the park. Many celebs have fallen away from the faith and gone back to their old ways in as much as Christian culture views backsliding as something that can be prevented by one’s earnest efforts.

Award-winning Gospel singer, Kimdanny (Daniel Masivo) could just be heading the same way.

Over the weekend, it emerged that the “Tulia” hit-maker is quitting Gospel music to become a secular deejay. Apparently, Kimdanny was offered a money-spinning role by one of the leading local TVs which he couldn’t resist.

Attempts to reach him for a comment have hit a snag since his phone has been constantly busy, this after he left town to the Coast for the weekend.

However, those in his circles confirm that in deed Kimdanny is going back to black. Despite confirming the same, they declined to reveal the station that dangled the carrot for the Talanta Awards winner.
