He has been lauded as a lyrical genius and one of the freshest faces in the rap community, he has made the girls go world with his boyish good looks but not everyone is hopping on the Jay A bandwagon.

And one of them is Shappaman formerly of Camp Mullah who thinks Jay A is overrated and cannot rap.not being one to  sugar coat he added that “‘I’m sure Jay A is a good guy but I’ve met guys who can rap!”

Asked for his opinion about rap-feuds, Shappaman dismisses it as Kelele and reckons that  musicians should spend less time feuding and spend more time making music .Check out the rest of the interview here:

Vera Sidika And Caroline Mutoko Square Off On The Big Breakfast And Vera Gets Schooled

Yesterday, I reported about a missive Vera Sidika had sent at Caroline Mutoko and Linda Nyangweso for comments they had made on the big breakfast. And after Caroline Mutoko read the article, she texted Baba Ghafla and also decided to host her on The Bigger Breakfast so as to get to the bottom of the matter. And so the morning found Vera and Caroline and Linda Nyangweso deep in conversation about everything from 450,000/- weaves to nails and so Chipukeezy was locked out of the conversation. Sad.

Anyway, the conversation quickly acknowledged the elephant in the room –Vera’s comments about their morning conversation from yesterday. So let us get into it. Vera clarified everything about the TV show and why her working relationship with KTN soured. According to vera, the deal was not lucrative enough to warrant the opportunity costs she would incur if she chose to work with them.

I know my worth. I know what I deserve to be paid. When the concept was floated, they approached me. Even with full knowledge that I did not have media training or even a media background. And when they approached me, we sat down to hash out the details. I saw what they were offering and I wasn’t interested because I had projects in West Africa. i had a part in a movie for 10,000U$D or I could have been in a music show for 4,000U$D.

And as the conversation continued, Caroline schooled Vera on how TV actually works. She taught Vera this, “I would have thought you would have grabbed the opportunity. When someone gives you legs, you run with it. I don’t think you understood how TV works but at first, you never get your worth. You don’t get anything substantial for 6 episodes. Because they have to sell the pilot and subsequent episodes first, maybe to (ad) agencies. But when someone gives you 12, maybe 13 episodes, you run with it.

I truly hope Vera walks away from her conversation with Caroiline Mutoko smarter, nay, wiser. I know Baba Ghafla and I did.

Celebrities’ Moving Appeal To The People Of South Sudan

After enjoying peace for a while, violence broke out in South Sudan late last year between devoted soldiers in support of President Salva Kiir and rebels in favor of his former Vice President, Riek Machar .

Just like the post poll violence that we experienced in 2007, conflict in Sudan is based on ethnicity. The conflict is between two of the largest ethnic groups ;President Kiir’s Dinka and Machar’s Nuer.

According to BBC News thousands have lost their lives with more than a million others have had to flee from their homes.

Shappaman Finally Opens Up About The Real Reason Why Camp Mulla Broke Up (VIDEO)

For a long time, Camp Mulla was the face of the new generation of Kenyan music. And they did it bigger than anyone else has ever done it complete with a B.E.T nomination. But after what seemed like a short while, they broke up and each artist went their separate way. Sad day indeed for Camp Mulla fans but as they say, such is life. Since then, there have been alot of contenders attempting to fill their shoes but though many are indeed talented, few have succeeded.

And so Vincent Omondi caught up with the lad known as Shappaman -the lad that introduced the Shabba Ranks haircut to Kenyans and he explained in his own words the reason why he feels Camp Mulla had to call it a night. he also delves a little into why he felt exasperated by that question.

Is there bad blood between the members or is it all an amicable affair? Well, that was what he spoke about.
And you can watch it here:

{youtube}vzJy2-QykXc{/youtube}

From the video, what Shappaman says is that the break up was amicable and was handled professionally as they were called into an office meeting at their record label and informed of the decision by Thee MC Africa (formerly Taio) and Lady Karun (formerly Miss Karun) to leave the group for one reason or another.

The Trending Video You Need To Watch!

Mmmm… for now lets call her an advocate for inspiring music in the media… maximum respect!!!!!!!!!

Never Settle For Less” song by the sexy-eyed, promising, rising star Baby 6 has been collecting a lot of love since its debut this month. Its well rotated on local radio stations and its getting massive airplay. The video is out and this is the girl to watch out on your screens.

bb2.jpg

She is already planning for shows around the country with other artists already in the music scene and for those who have seen her perform, saying that her dance moves are electrifying is an understatement why lie.

She does her thing perfectly, and leaves your eyes wanting more. On her Facebook page, which is Baby 6, we find a quote that she describes herself as one with mad love for music, which she elaborates further that to her “Music is in despicable.

Aggressive Baby 6 is keen to get into the charts, bearing in mind that the song is now already at Top 10 at Top Mashariki with Mwinyi Kazungu…

“Kenyans Want Explicit Comedy. ” Says Jalang’o

Kenyans love grime, drama and explicit comedy. That is the reason why Ghafla is such a hit, it’s the reason we are still glued to Maina and King’ang’ in the morning and it’s the same reason that we love Owago Onyiro.

But we refuse to admit it while we open multiple browsers to read Ghafla stories, tune in religiously to Maina and King’ang’i and search for dirty jokes on Youtube

This is a sentiment echoed by Jalango who says “Kenyans love explicit stuff this is Kenya. They want to listen to explicit jokes but they lie that they don’t want to listen but they still tune in

Mombasa, The #SmirnoffFiesta Is Coming To Rock You

When I heard that the Smirnoff Fiesta was making an exit from Nairobi for the weekend, I was pretty sad. An entire week struggling to find a good party… Bleak! but I am happy for the fam in Mombasa. You will get to experience the best of the beach. And before we start, I know there is a beach in Mombasa. So stop. Take a deep breathe and chill.

The only time that beach really light up is during holidays. But this time, you’ll be able to really show out at a party that has the best of those parties: the hottest lasses and the hunkiest (I know that’s not a word but I figured you wouldn’t notice so let it slide nibling). Anyway, let’s get back on track. You know how the parties have been something worth talking about? Now imagine how much more epic this one will be because it’s in Mombasa?

And please actually turn up in beach wear? Why? Because that would take it to an even more level of epicness!

Last week, we told you that bold and talented investigative journalist, Dennis Okari, is departing from NTV after 7months of service. This afternoon, the Senior Investigative and Crime reporter has finally taken a bow out of the “twin towers”.

Okari resigned a month ago and today is his last day as an NMG employee.

In a post on social media, Okari was grateful to everyone who has supported his work for the entire 13 years he’s been in the trade.

Here’s his post;

FAREWELL: It is with great pride but sad note that I’m posting this message .

It has been a great joy working for Nation Media Group – NTV as a Senior Investigative and Crime reporter.Like everything else in this life, my time has come to an end.

My last day at NTV is today after I resigned a month ago. I wish to thank all my friends here, fans, family and colleagues in the industry who followed my stories and my career path.

I have worked with KBC, Metro FM, TBN – Family media, Barakafm, KTN,Kiss TV, NTV and now it’s time to spread my wings to a global audience.

I am joining BBC World. I leave the local scene with my head held high that in my very small way through my stories, I was able to make a small difference.
I look forward to my next big challenge but will carry with me fond memories of those I interacted with. Those who took time to call me, text, email or share story ideas. Thank you.

NTV is the best newsroom any journalist would want to work in and I will miss my colleagues.

I will continue telling the Kenya (African) story to the world.

God bless you all!

Ghafla! wishes him all the best 🙂

The One Kenyan Derby You Shouldn’t Miss

Forget the MAZIWA DERBY. Forget the MASHEMEJI DERBY. The Ngong Racecourse and Golf Park brings you Kenya’s most prestigious horse racing event. The Salama Fikira Derby on 13th April 2014 as from 12noon

There will be a total of eight races the highlight of which will be the Kenya Derby with ten runners who have been prepared and tuned over the last two years by their trainers to perform at the highest level. This is the most famous and richest classic race in the local racing world and covers over 2400m in less than 3 minutes to clear the tension and declare a winner without the intervention of the judiciary.

The day will just not be about the races but also activities off the track for the young ones. The children will have numerous games including the now popular star jump, Face painting and candy floss. There will also be food stalls Craft market, Fancy Dress, photo booth and of course Live Music.

Here is the fascinating part; BEST DRESSED PRIZE: DINNER AND A MASSAGE FOR TWO AT VILLA ROSA KEMPINSKI. Just remember to dress to kill and to impress the judges and walk away with the top prize. The judges will be mingling with the crowd to pick out a winner.

Verdict: “The greatest ignorance is to reject something you know nothing about”. A visit to the race course is a must do Kenyan event, at least once and do place a bet to experience the complete package that is the fun of the race day!!!

Forget about All the Lesbianism Rumours you’ve heard about her, this Celebrity Model Can Really Sing (VIDEO)

Earlier in the year, she shocked her fans when she organized a lesbian party at her place (we’re not sure whether it actually took place though). However, Laika has just bared her other prowess.

Her debut single, Turn Me Up, featuring Freeman was released earlier in the year and now the very commendable (in terms of concept combined with the great work of the talented J Blessing) video that’s alive and kicking.

Apart from modeling, Laika is a song writer, recording and performing artist with Tanzanian and Kenyan roots.

Check out her video;

She Has Two Kids,But Her She Has An Incredibly Hot Body (Photos)

You know her as one of East Africa’s fastest rising recording artistes .Her overnight success can be attributed to her magnificent voice, her originality, a personalized incredible fashion sense is and her having looks that could kill is definitely a plus.

But did you know that this fierce mamacita is also a mother of two? I was shocked to learn that Yvonne Darq ia a mother of two young boys, this is because she seems so young and has incredibly toned body.

Risper Faith Launches Windows Phone App That Has Even Sexier And Raunchier Pictures Of Her!

Risper Faith is a lass better known for her not-so-dainty derriere  doing things that have men stiff at the limbs ection but this one is not about her bodacious booty. I am trying to say that with a straight face. Actually, this is about that. Risper Faith has managed to jump over the digital divide and her derriere is now fully digital.

I came across the app earlier today and realized that it is more than a narcissist’s attempts to immortalize her youth, it’s a narcissist’s attempt to let fappers enjoy her digital form while immortalizing her youth. And I fully endorse this.

Check it out below:

She’s 20, Talented And Hot! Check Out These Sexy Pictures Of Tiri (PHOTO GALLERY)

Uncle Chim Tuna doesn’t deal with artists unless he feels they have a promising future and after being asked, nay, challenged to find a female worth writing about because they are talented, I have settled on Tiri. And the lass is not just talented, she’s hardworking. She already has a mixtape out -more than what alot of veteran musicians have out these days.

And what’s more, she is one sexy lass. Sadly, she’s dating Kus Ma formerly of Camp Mulla. And their love seems to run deep. But then again, I know that will not stop some of the people on my team from trying to play rough but that is not how Uncle Chim Tuna sees it.
That said, let us get down to just how sexy she’s looking these days:

‘The Star’ Falls for ‘The People’ Prank as it Copies a Fake Story & Runs it as An Authentic One (PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE)

Yesterday (April 1st), you may have had to break down and shed real tears before you were to be taken very seriously. Not for The Star newspaper though.

As one of its Fools’ Day tomfooleries, The People newspaper yesterday ran a prank story about AFC Leopards talisman, Jacob Keli, alleging that he’s joining Italian side, Inter Milan. Most of its readers seemed to have bought the story and the paper deemed it fit to clarify to them that the story was a hoax.

However, their colleagues at Radio Africa seemed to have missed the joke and went ahead to publish the story in today’s issue of The Star! Unknown to the writer and the media house, the story was in fact a prank but too late for them because the paper was already in circulation!

Africa’s Biggest Music Collabo featuring Kenya’s Juliani & Victoria Kimani is Out! Listen to it Here First

Featuring 19 recording artists from 11 countries speaking 10 languages, this is definitely the biggest music collabo in Africa!

ONE.org earlier this week launched one of the continent’s biggest musical collaborations ever, ‘Cocoa na Chocolate’, in support of a new campaign to boost investments in agriculture: ‘Do Agric, It Pays’.

Nineteen of the top recording artists from across Africa, including D’Banj and Femi Kuti from Nigeria, DR Congo’s Fally Ipupa, Cote d’Ivoire’s Tiken Jah Fakoly, Kenya’s Juliani, and South Africa’s Judith Sephuma, have come together to help rebrand agriculture and tell African youth that their future lies literally beneath their feet—and in their hands.

Ciku Muiruri’s April Fools Day Prank

1ST April is the only day that we get to get away with lying and tomfoolery and this year I fell victim to one of the biggest phony stories ever, the story of the young presenter who took quite a pounding from her lover.

In my defense that story really seemed legit, there were broken teeth, a black eye and raw emotions, but at least I am not the only one who fell for this, 14,000 of you did!

Turns out it was not only Ghafla who pulled off a successful prank but The Star too who ran a story about Binyavanga being appointed as an ambassador to Uganda. Cheeky Ciku Muiruri was not left behind and almost pulled off this prank

How Larry Madowo Made a Fool out of His Fans

NTV’s Larry Madowo is one of the top TV anchors in Kenya hence the huge following he commands. And so when he makes a statement many are most likely to be swayed.

In honour of April Fools’ Day, the #TheTrend host came up with one of the best pranks based on and determined by originality, planning, and lastly, execution. On a day when they were supposed to look at things with a skeptical eye, some of Larry’s fans became a mockery of his April Fools’ Day joke.

Just when he was in Rwanda on official duty, Larry announced on social media that he’d been offered a TV worthwhile deal and thanks to his love for the country, he’d decided to take it up and relocate there.

“I’ve always loved Rwanda and now, I get to stay. I have agreed to lead the newsroom of a new TV station opening here in June. So long, Kenya”

Most of his fans who had checked their calendars but for some it was utter shock and disbelief;

This morning, as the wise one expected, Larry came out to assert that he was taking his fans for a ride;

“I may have inadvertently caused mass panic yesterday with my April Fool’s Day prank about moving to Rwanda. I’m sorry. You’re stuck with me *evil laugh goes here*”

While Other Young Girls Are Busy Twerking, This One Is Making History

It is clear that Kenya is slowly but surely getting the positive worldwide appreciation it deserves. From winning rugby matches on the international arena, to having indomitable athletes on the track to becoming Hollywood’s It girl faster than you can say Lupita, it is clear that this country is capable of doing great things.

Vivian Onano is another Kenyan who is making us proud in the literary world. The 22 year old, Kisumu born Starehe Girls Alumnus writes for the Huffington Post one of the world’s biggest blogs and news aggregator. Her articles are mainly about the issues affecting African women and youth.

What Gloria Muliro does when she’s Not Making Hits

Gloria Muliro is definitely one of the most celebrated Gospel singer in Kenya. With 4 albums to her name, Gloria started sing in 1997 and has slowly risen to be the best female Gospel artist as she went on to receive the female artist of the year award at the eighth Groove awards (2013).

With all this to her name, Gloria, known for her quiet life, is one of the most charitable celebs around. The ‘Msaidizi’ singer has lent her name to a good cause.

Together with her husband, Eric Omba, she runs Gloria Muliro Foundation – a children’s home that house 23 destitute kids at her rural home in Emuhaya, Western Kenya.

Aged between 6 and 12, the foundation has taken the kids through school and of course Christian values as well as taking care of their well-being as a whole.

Gloria says she almost shares the same background as the kids as both she and her husband went through a difficult childhood, something that has always given her the push to give back to the society.

Vera Sidika Attacks Caroline Mutoko And Linda Nyangweso

Yesterday, I syndicated some great work done by the Star’s Grace Kerongo (real recognize real). And yes, Grace Kerongo is one of only two peers not at Ghafla whom I respect immensely. The rest can sue me -ask my lawyer how that turned out for the other lawsuits! no 200million lawsuit burden either!

Anyway, the work I syndicated was about Vera Sidika being unceremoniously given the boot by KTN after she made what were allegedly grand demands for salary because she has a huge social media presence and following. KTN weren’t amused so they asked her to retrace her steps as she left their office.

And earlier today morning, the Big Breakfast team went to town on the story. And Caroline Mutoko gave her opinion. So did Linda Nyangweso. And Vera is having none of it. This is the missive she fired:

Then this commentor answered her:

  O-tivoh Babayao

They dint call you to the studio coz they were afraid you might show up Nude….

My day has been made!
