Former Project Fame Contestant Kaz Takes A firm Stand Against Poaching (Photo)

Poaching has become rampant in Kenya thanks to the thriving market for Ivory in Asia where Ivory costs an estimated 2000 dollars (172,000 Kshs) per Kilogram.

In 2011, 25,000 elephants were killed for ivory and in 2014 we still see a lot of elephants brutally butchered to sustain the growing demand for Ivory.rhinos have not been left behind with the one below being brutally murdered for its tusks.

Karen Kaz Lucas whom you know from her recent track ‘Niokoe’ has decided to take a stand against this madness.

“Says it all #letlive. Let the rhinos stay horny. Protect our elephants! Stand your ground.”

Is this the Next Singer Grabbing the Dancehall King Crown?

We think so. It is on record that currently the hottest dance hall guy in Kenya in dancehall is Wyre but it is envisaged that sooner than later the latest dancehall sensation in Kenya will take over from him.

This is because when all hope was lost for Kenyan dancehall music, it has taken him alone to use whichever means he thought would give the genre attention to actually make its presence felt.

Meet Fi Di Twisky.

Kenya has been waiting for something unique after Wyre and that is exactly what Fi Di Twisky has in his repertoire and artistry.

As a member of Airforce Dance Crew, he felt very much at home and that he was finally living his dream. Making it to Sakata Dance Competition and also appearing in different music videos, the ultimate achievement he his very proud of is being nominated as one of the best dance crews at the Chaguo La Teeniez Awards.

All his dreams were valid as a dancer until the crew started power struggles, “Everyone wanted to be the leader and dictate what goes on in the crew and it is true that each one of us had a special talent in different genres of music, we knew each other’s strengths and each one felt more important than the other”, says Fi Di.

Fi_Di_Twisky_2.jpg

Fi Di Twisky’s style of music is inspired by Dancehall and RnB genres with a touch of Hip-hop and dance. His icons are TOK and Wayne Wonder.

“I know that these two names are way old but they do the kind of music I am into and they inspire me each time I listen to their music. Another thing that makes me see these two as legends is that their songs from way back are still received well and even sang along to. That is what I am aiming for, good music that is timeless.” says Fi Di.

Citizen TV’s Willis Raburu ‘Before Aromat’ (Photos)

Willis Raburu is currently one of the biggest, (in terms ofsuccess and size) media personalities around. He is the brains behind popular show ‘Truth Meter’ and is among the few Kenyan journalists to have joined CNN for the prestigious journalism fellowship at CNN’s headquarters in Atlanta, USA.

I came across a few photo of Willis before Truth Meter, before the CNN fellowship and before the money…and as one of his fans said’ before Aromat’

Victoria Kimani When She Was A Young Nigerian Schoolgirl (Photo)

Sexy and Victoria Kimani are practically two peas in a pod. She is not only lauded for her aesthetic appeal but also her talent. But did you know that the Chocolate City Signee traces her roots back to Nigeria Benin to be specific?

The ‘Mtoto’ singer shared this photo of herself at 14 years at a Nigerian school. She shared the photo to stand in solidarity with the 200 girls kidnapped in Borno State Nigeria.

Victoria Kimani is one of the many Kenyans moved by the continued torment suffered by parents in Nigeria and in fact the world about the fate of the girls kidnapped by Islamist terrorist organization Boko Haram.

Anne Kansiime Explains How She Landed at Citizen TV

When the promos for her show started airing on Citizen TV back in Febraury, we wondered why the TV station would source for content from another country when there’s so much local content.

However, there’s something about Anne Kansiime that makes her irresistible.

This was shortly after Kansiime’s series, MiniBuzz, had just reached its season finale on NTV Uganda.

But there was something about her that had Royal Media Services Managing Director, Wachira Waruru, almost beg her to send her content. This we found out over the weekend.

In an interview with Lilian Muli, the comedian revealed how a phone call from Waruru made her an household name in Kenya.

Two weeks after the phone call, she was in Kenya to meet with Waruru and the rest is history. Here’s the interview she did with Lillian Muli.

Late last year a girl by the name Charlotte came out claiming that NTV’s Obinna had left her with one in the oven before skipping town.

This is what he wrote:

GHAFLA EXCLUSIVE: It’s A Wealthy Oil Tycoon Nigerian That Has Been “Upgrading” Vera Sidika (PHOTO GALLERY)

Vera Sidika has been living a jet setting, fast paced, mile high flight club sort of existence. The shapely lass has been going everywhere almost at will and many have been wondering how it is that she has been able to sustain such an expensive lifestyle. And after searching around, God’s Chosen Blogger, the Duke of Douchebaggery, the Pope of Pissing off People, the Archbishop of A.holes finally has an answer to the burning question.

It would seem Vera has been secretly dating a Nigerian oil tycoon for nearly a year after they met when she went to Nigeria on business. The man is so smitten by the comely cutie that he has been splashing money around just to jet her to him so they can have some R&R (rest and recuperation) never mind the carbon footprint this creates.

This is how she came out to celebrate their “nearly a year” anniversary:

5 Top Collabos We’d Love to See

We all have artistes we’d love to see make a record together because one, their music has had a huge impact on the audience and two, we think they might do something that will shock (either way) all of us.

So here is our wish list collabos;

1. Size 8/ Rose Muhando

Size_8_Rose_Muhando.jpg
We all are conscious about the energy they exhibit on stage and in music videos. If they were to do a collabo, the energy in their song will reach the heavens. Knowing how energertic they both are, this is one collabo that will take the region by storm; ‘Mateke’ meets ‘Utamu Wa Yesu’.

2. Blaqy/ Konshenz

Blaqy_Konshens.jpg
Blaqy has always claimed that he’s the king of dancehall in Kenya. So, why not tip him against the real king of the dancehall and see what they can do together. Honestly, I can imagine what they’d do, what am not sure about is whether Konshens will be game.

3. Rabbit/ Khaligraph Jones

Rabbit_Khaligraph.jpg

This would be the illest hip-hop collabo of our time. Okay maybe not the “illest” but right up there. I love collabos in hip-hop because they are an opportunity for rappers to compete against each other lyrically with other rappers they’ve always respected. I strongly feel like this collabo will be devoid of a commercial drive rather a purely lyrical competition something most of the collabos today fall short of.

4. Juliani/ Eko Dydda

Juliani_Eko.jpg

Juliani is one artist known for bringing his A-game in all his tracks thanks to his rousing lyrics that everyone (age notwithstanding) can relate to. Eko Dydda on the other hand has perfected his stammer-rap genre something that has seen him remain relevant always. I strongly feel that if these two ingenious minds locked horns, the result would be the work of a genius.

5. Elani/ Just A Band

Elani_Just_A_Band.jpg

Avant-garde meets super-nerdy.

Any music-conscious fan would die to see what a house/funk/disco band and an urban afro band can come up with. But the upshot would definitely be the talk of the region for a long time. Too much awesomeness in one song.Who is with me on this?

Forget Butt Implants,Here Is A Cheaper Much Safer Way To Get The Curves You Desire

Let’s face it not all of us were born with curves like Corazon Kwamboka or Vera Sidika or even Avril. And that is one reason Kenyan girls are turning to new and sometimes fatal method to enhance their assets. However there is an easier much much cheaper way of getting the curves.

And that is through wearing clothes that create an illusion of curves. If there is one thing my mother taught me is to work with what you got. If you are not blessed with curves here are some wardrobe essentials you should invest in:

1# Peplum

http://vitesse-exchange.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/pep3.jpg

Whether its a skirt or dress or top, peplum is a fun and pretty way to create the curves

 3#Lantern Dresses

http://blog.janenorman.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Beaded-Lantern-Dress-%C2%A350.jpg

4# The right kind of trousers

Get jeans in lighter shades such as sky blue and white as opposed darker colors. Pockets that are small and high up the jeans, embellishments on the pockets are your friend, run away from pants with big pockets or no pockets at all.

5#Two Tone Dresses

Kenyans On Twitter Make Fun Of Ghafla’s C.E.O After His Appearance On The Popular NTV Show “The Trend”

As Friday saw twilight and darkness spread over the land, Ghafla’s C.E.O made his way to NTV for a segment on The Trend -one of the most popular local content TV shows in Kenya. The segment was going to delve into the world of bloggers and blogging. And when he went on the show, he gave a rather insightful look into the world of bloggers -but couldn’t stop blinking.

And Kenyans on Twitter noticed this fact and decided to have some fun:

We don’t know either. Now stop asking stupid questions and concentrate on the growing trend of artificial insemination of hyenas in Maragua!

Royal Media’s MD Invites Kansiime Anne To His Swanky Ranch

Kansime Anne is one of the best comedians east Africa has; nay Kansiime Anne is one of the best comedians Africa has. Yes she is among the few comedians who can stand among the greats such as Trevoh Noah and still manage to shine.

The young girl from the lush grassy hills of Kabale’s skits has become a fan favorite and that is why Citizen TV decided to air ’Don’t Mess with Kansiime’. The show is doing quite well and Citizen M.D decided to invite Anne and her Team to his Chaka ranch near Mt. Kenya. Her are the pics from her visit there

Is Larry Madowo Dating His Beautiful Co-Host Victoria Rubadiri?

I can say with certainty that the beautiful Victoria Rubadiri and spirited Larry Madowo have one of the best on-air chemistry on Kenyan television.

They go together like bread and blue band, ugali and sukumawiki or like the tub and the shower head above. You get the drift.

Anyhow their on screen chemistry has been so palpable that people thought that they take their on screen chemistry off screen. Larry Madowo took to Facebook to clear this speculation among other speculations

Being on holiday has allowed me time to read through the backlog of messages on my inbox. I appreciate all the feedback but I’d like to save you and I both some time and say these:
1) I can’t find you a job/internship at NTV/NMG
2) I can’t find you a job anywhere else
3) I am not an atheist/Illuminati/gay/crazy/all of the above
4) I am not dating Victoria Rubadiri
5) I will not go on a date with you because you inboxed
6) I am not an alien, despite my 3,000 teeth
I read all the messages but cannot always respond to all of them. Keep writing, especially with ideas, suggestions and critiques. Also, any good cat videos are always welcome. Live long and prosper!

GHAFLA POLL RESULT: Which Song Is Better? Elani’s “Kookoo” Or Sauti Sol’s “Nishike”?

Last week, I wanted to find out just which song, from the plethora of recent releases that are the talk of the town. And two songs come to mind given just how hard they have been trending: “Koo Koo” by Elani and “Nishike” by Sauti Sol. And just why have the two tracks been trending? Well, because the videos are pretty mindblowing. But this was never about videos. This is about the actual song.

And when Kenyans were asked to vote, they did. And I am so grateful to all the readers who took the time to vote. However, I am shocked by the results. I had expected a close vote but that was not the case. The vote was a landslide decision:

Ever Wanted To Club With Celebs? Now This Is Where You Should Be

The celebrated suave Burundi singer Nimbona famously known as Kidum has landed in Westi!

This and every other Sunday, this inspirational singer will be performing at the new hot club in Westi, Club Hypnotica!

Tired of the usual clubs and raunchy teenagers? Well Hypnotica is just for you, it caters for only the mature. The age limit is 25+, no more hustling for space or respect from underage crowd of people!

Club Hypnotica is not only classy and dope! It has some features that gives the kawaa clubs a run for their money!

Which other club do you know is sound proof? Has bubble light technology, lazer lights, a totally wireless bar! No more being served tots that are mixed with water (I thank God for that!) and before I forget, international belly dancers will soon be introduced!

Hypnotica is located in Westlands, at Krishna Centre, Woodvale grove between Bandari plaza and Sound Plaza on the fourth flour.

Tonight, Hypnotica Is Where The Party Is At!

Hypnotica is the newest club in town and that is where anyone that wants to party with grown ups is headed tonight. And when I say “party with grown ups” I don’t mean Octogenerians, I mean party with a mature crowd. None of the youngin shenanigans, none of the drama associated with partying with teenagers who always invariably end up acting a fool.

The plan is solid for two reasons, the Dj is soliod! He is guaranteed to have you partying the night away on the dancefloor and the prices aren’t a form of extortion. Beers cost 250/- and the service? Can you say service with a smile because that is exactly what you should expect.
Check out the images of the last party below:

GHAFLA POLL: Which Song Is Better? Elani’s “Koo Koo” Or Sauti Sol’s “Nishike”?

Elani has a hot track and no one can deny that. But the reaction elicited by Sauti Sol’s “Nishike” video is nothing short of phenomenal but someone told me that it’s not getting any airplay on radio… And said individual also intimated that this is because the track is “just a good video”. I refuse to believe this. And so I want to pit the track up against one that I really like, Elani’s “Koo Koo”.

And no, I am not asking about the videos, I am asking about the songs. Which song is better between Elani’s Koo Koo and Sauti Sol’s Nishike? Have your say?

Poaching Has Never Hit Home, Literally, Real Hard Like This (VIDEO)

In just three months Kenya lost more than 50 elephants and 20 rhinos. KWS places the number of elephant population at 38,000 and only 1,039 rhinos alive today.

The rate at which Kenya is losing its spectacular species of elephants and rhinos is worrying conservationists (and even comedians).

Poaching is a real menace and Hapa Kule decided to put into perspective; just how we are all poachers.

Photo of the Day: Lilian Muli Goes to Kampala in Search of Anne Kansiime

Anne Kansiime has fast gained ground in Kenya as the foreign comedian to go to thanks to her antics on Citizen TV.

Thanks to her expanding popularity among Kenyans, Citizen TV’s Lilian Muli was recently in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, to look for this fast-rising African comedienne to find out what makes her tick. Here’s a photo of the two on a street in Kampala;

Ruth Matete Finally Adresses The Rumours About Her Being Broke

I came across an article about Ruth Matete answering all the questions and allegations about her going broke what with her lavish lifestyle and all. The article of which I speak was done by Nairobi News. Allow me to syndicate it:

Friendly, cheerful, and outgoing could all start to describe her even though she has been on the receiving end of bad publicity. But this has not killed Ruth Matete’s jolly character.

Ruth has been enveloped by controversy from the minute she was announced winner of the music reality show Tusker Project Fame. After a year away from the media spotlight, she has finally come out of her cocoon ready to take on her haters.

“I have come to accept the media. Although they slander me all the time, I realise that I need them in my music career,” she begins, oozing confidence.

It seems that she has a strong relationship with God because she quotes Bible scriptures frequently.

And when I go straight to the point and ask her the questions that everyone wants answers to — about being crazy and broke — she laughs a little and says, “I know I have done some crazy things in my life but losing it completely; never. Look at me now. I am perfectly sane. I do not believe someone who has actually gone crazy can make the transformation that quickly and be able to hold conversations or go to interviews.”

Accursed

The whole Ruth-Matete-gone-crazy story started when she decided to reduce the length of her long dreadlocks, eventually shaving them off completely. (She now sports a short, spiky crop). For some reason, certain people associated that with being crazy.

“It is really unfair when someone writes something when they are not sure about it. Even if I am broke, that is my private life. It is my problem, not theirs. I do not go round telling the world how they should spend their money so why are they so concerned about mine,” she queried.

“He who trusts a man is cursed,” she says. Yes, it is another quote from the Bible she drops, saying that this is what she has learnt over time after having trusted so many people who are the same ones who put her in trouble.

Her latest medal of shame was the dress she wore during the grand finale of Tusker Project Fame Six. The dress was so daringly short that it would likely make hardened Kenyan socialites blush. It roused the worst of Kenyans on social media with many viciously attacking her.

Just human

“At the end of it all I am human and it does not mean that now that I am saved (local lingo for practicing Christian) I have turned into an angel. There is no one to blame for the dress and I know some might argue that I should have said no, but I had already signed a contract and there was no turning back.”

The story behind the dress is that she arrived late at the ceremony and was quickly handed the dress by a stylist. She clarified that she had worn such dresses before while in the Academy except that at the time the public had no knowledge of her salvation.

Now they had taken it upon themselves to ensure she exercised the decorum in whatever she did.

Elani Finally Explain the Concept behind Its New Eyegasmic Video

Some videos are thought-provoking, some are funny and some just bizarre. Despite that, sometimes the most obvious concept for a video also turns out to be the best like in the case of Elani’s latest video.

Coming up with the concept for a music video can be a nerve wracking but for fast-rising band, Elani, it appears to be a walk in the park. Three videos out and their concepts is simply mind-blowing especially the latest, Kookoo, that’s simply eyegasmic.

That Kookoo has become an instant hit is not questionable because it has 100,000+ views on YouTube.

So we sought to know about the video’s concept;

Maureen: When we were thinking about the concept we couldn’t think of anything else other than showcasing love in all its different forms. And so we had to think of a way to do it as messengers and not the parties. So, we figured the best way to do this is to walk through town like it was a normal day and we are surrounded by people who are in love.

Wambui: We wanted to see different types of people in love so that at the end of the day we can remind ourselves that we are in this together.

Here’s that interview;

If Lulu Hassan Wasn’t an Anchor this is what she would Be Doing (PHOTOS)

Have you ever wondered about what celebrities would be if they weren’t famous or doing what they are currently doing?

Anyway, some (if not all of them) had a back-up plan no matter what career they were are all trying to pursue.

Well, who knew that Lulu is a thespian? Believe it or not, the soft-spoken anchor is an established actor who sharpened her theatre skills on stage. She’s appeared in various local plays before her love for TV superseded that for the theatre.

Capital FM’s Anita Nderu has had a rough week, this is after KOT pummeled her with insults after she referred to them as idiots.

Now One F,M ‘s presenter Chito Ndlovu who is known for writing cold-blooded letters to other celebrities has joined in the Anita Nderu roast. In the letter Chito says

“Dear Anita Nderu’

I have never had the pleasure of personally meeting you but i believe in the Lord’s good
Time I will be graced with that rare chance to view your five head, sorry to be in your presence.”

He then continues:

I would like to begin by first pouring out my heart to the people who have lost their loved ones both in the twin bombings in Nairobi and the grenade attacks in Mombasa. I also wish to offer my sincere condolences to your intellectual skills or lack thereof .For it only takes such intelligence and High IQ to go against an entire country’s opinion. Don’t get me wrong here darling, everybody is entitled to their opinion but don’t you think the term idiot is a bit, what’s that word? Yes. Inappropriate am sure you are familiar with the saying it takes one to know one so allow me to also call you an idiot.

He also called her out on leaving NTV for Capital saying that “Sweetest Idiot. I hear you left Teen Republik to go read news at Kenyalots Capital City, what an amazing if not genius move you made just to take your career to a lower level. I believe someone would call you an idiot for that move better yet didn’t you try to become the next big TV host after a month of being at that amazing enterprise.
I believe when you failed it gives me the right to once again call you idiot for trying too hard at something you wouldn’t succeed at right idiot?”
