As the Kenya national football team mingles with other spectators in Brazil, Kenya’s top football referee Aden Marwa is a man to watch. This Kenyan is the first to officiate at a World Cup.
On CNN International’s ‘African Voices’ this week, Marwa – currently an assistant referee in Brazil – explains how he balances his day job as a teacher with his side job as a referee. He reveals how the years of refereeing primed him to officiate on football’s biggest stage, the World Cup.
“Football is my life, football has made my life change a big deal. I want to say if it wasn’t for football, I may have not come as far as I have,” Marwa tells the programme.
‘African Voices’ caught up with Marwa as he prepared to travel to Brazil, talking of his passion for football, and how he became a referee in 1998 at only 21 years old. Marwa began in the lower Kenyan leagues and in 2006, he got his big break: “In 2006 I had my first match in the Kenya premier League, and since then to date I have been officiating in the Kenya premier league,” he says.
As he grew up, Marwa couldn’t get enough of football. The 1990 World Cup in Italy is his earliest memory of watching the sport on television:“I was in class eight, and I remember the distance I used to walk to go and see if I could get to a TV to watch the game. When I was a small boy, I loved to watch football.”

Addressing the press in his office today, NACADA chairman John Mututho said that the products should be withdrawn from the market immediately.
“All the 19 products stand banned with immediate effect and anyone caught consuming these products should be taken to court,” said Mututho.
Mututho said that the process of testing other shisha and Kuber flavours is still on going and the list of banned substances may increase with time.

I am not a fan of football, but I just had to watch the famous/infamous Suarez bite. Picture this, you are engrossed in the match, then wham! , someone ferociously digs his teeth into your shoulders in a manner which a vampire would bite your jugular.
What do you do? Do you turn around and smack the living daylights out of your assailant? Do you stifle a cry and sit on the ground or are you just too shocked to react? It’s not every day you see a grown man digging his teeth into another…at least not publically.
Well as for poor Giorgio Chiellini who got a biting of his life, all he could do was sit on the ground and show his bite marks to the ref…as Suarez pretended to have ‘bumped into ’ Giorgio’s shoulder.

There seem to be clouds gathering around the house of Arunga. There are dark omens and darker energy. I have no idea what they have done to merit such a misfortune but the loss of a child is nothing to scoff at.

According to a TV news report from Australia’s channel 7 news, the 3 year old boy was said to be playing with his two year old sibling when he fell down the stairs. His parents thought that the injuries were not so serious and so they just gave the poor boy and had him sleep. That was unfortunate because the condition of the boy worsened prompting the Esther and Quincy to call medics.
The boy died while being attended to by medics. Esther and Quincy have both been taken in for questioning by the Australian police. From the TV footage, Esther Arunga can be seen to have considerably gained weight.
