1. What kind of business are you involved in?
I’m the host and executive producer of The Property Show – an independently produced premier property show which is designed to demystify the various processes of property ownership, connecting viewers with industry professionals who provide solutions, understanding and knowledge of the sometimes intimidating and complex process of property acquisition. We also engage service providers within the property value chain.
I am also the CEO of The Property Gallery, a boutique real estate consulting firm offering tailor-mad solutions to individuals, private and international investors, institutions and developers. Services offered include concept to design-construction to completion, marketing, brokerage, sales activation and related services, product launch events.
2. What ignited the spark in you to start your business and make significant changes in your industry?
Throughout my over a decade career in the property industry I had been thinking about starting a property show. There appeared to be a big gap in the industry. One couldn’t get information on property if they wanted it. I wanted to unravel this information to the lay person. Ever since I was a little girl I prized independence and freedom. I wanted to be able to chase my ideas and dreams, explore solutions that are outside the box, and apply myself daily to the same tasks in different ways. I feel that entrepreneurship allows me to do all this and more. I am able to pursue my passions unfettered and without too much restriction, whilst doing something I completely enjoy. But seriously, l am driven by independence, opportunity, an urge to build and get things done and follow my intuition to find those rewarding greener pastures.
3. Did you have enough finances to start the business? If yes, what was your greatest fear when putting your finances into your business? | If no, how did you manage to get the confidence to start out without enough finances?
As with many entrepreneurial ventures, l had to literally put money where my mouth was and use my savings until such a time that l could attract others who trusted and recognized the value of the show. Today, the show has several sponsors and that is how we finance activities related to the whole operation.
4. How would you define success in entrepreneurship? Do you feel like you have succeeded?
Success does not come by chance – whatever you aim for you will get there if you set yourself high goals and are willing to work hard. As to whether I have achieved it it – I am getting there. One has to keep aspiring for more.
5. What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as an entrepreneur?
When I was starting out as an entrepreneur people seemed to think I was crazy. Questions like “If this was such a brilliant idea, how come no one else has thought about it?” were posed. I was told it was too expensive and many out-rightly dismissed my idea

6. What has been your most satisfying moment in business?
The highlight for me has been the positive and encouraging response we have received from our viewers, sponsors and stakeholders. They have helped us create a very successful show. It has been gratifying to dream it and see it come to life.
7. What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur? Do you ever regret getting into entrepreneurship?
Getting into entrepreneurship has given me the freedom to pursue the things I love. I am passionate about my work. I love what I do. I don’t regret it. I recognized the real opportunity when I observed that almost everyone l met had an interest and a deep desire to own land, property and most importantly to understand the dynamics of this industry. It was interesting for me to uncover the information and to realize that I could help others to learn.
The idea that, as a result of the Property Show and the information we provide, a family could move into their own home for me is a gratifying experience. And our efforts have been acknowledge because The Property Show and I, have been nominated in this year’s Kalasha Film and Television Awards for “Best TV Show” and “Best Host in a TV Show” Awards, respectively. We are humbled by the recognition. It is a great achievement for us.

The business world is very cut-throat and you have to deliver. People will handle you the way you project yourself. You have to believe in yourself or no one else will. Be passionate about what you do and remain committed. Learn to weather the storm.
9. Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful entrepreneur?
I wouldn’t say there is because we are all unique in terms of our interests and the ideas that we come up with but I will say that if you want to become successful. You must believe in your idea. Test that it works and that there is a need for it. Ensure you have some good savings of your own. Business is not easy but you can make it. Pay attention to your inner voice, know who you can trust and take chances.
10. How do you think running a business today is different from say 5 years ago? How do you foresee it 5 years to come?
As compared to five years ago, there is now more competition and new technologies emerging at a rapid pace to keep up with. Customers have higher expectations and expect more value for their money. Online marketing tools are also changing how we do business. These are exciting times and with increased innovations, new technologies and changing demographics expected over the next few years this means entrepreneurs will have a tough challenge adapting to the changes in order to remain relevant.
