Check Out this Cute Picture Of Shappaman And His Father (PHOTO)

Shappaman was one of the most prominent members in Camp Mulla -then again, that statement is an oxymoron because they were all talented and stood out for one reason or another. But this lad here was always in the news for all the wrong reasons. Then again, the talented ones always seem to have issues with conformity.

Today, we examine where this young chap got his talent and love of music from and that in this instance it’s from his father. And I managed to find a picture of the pair of them looking cute posing as father and son. The question however is whether he ever thought in his wildest dreams that he would be a part of something so special:

Jalang’o’s Daughter Is All Grown Up (Photo)

While he boasts of a string of jobs and loads of money in the bank, his father qualities are also nothing to be ignored.

I recently came across a picture of Jalango’s little daughter with his long term girlfriend sultry model Cheptoek .

The comedian’s baby mama is a runway model and businesswoman who came fourth in the 2009 Miss Kenya competition. The lady is also a lingerie model, owner of fashion house, Salika and a writer with Spice magazine.

Enough about the beautiful leggy model, check their baby out.

Is There Still Hope For Kenya’s Entertainment Industry?

Some intellect dude once said; “There is nothing but comparison that makes people happy or miserable.” And I’m not in any way trying to make anyone feel miserable, after all maybe entertainment isn’t our thing, we (Kenyans) were meant to be famers and pastrolists 🙂

Anyway back to serious matters, I’d like to pick Nigeria for our comparison since they’re Africa’s best so far.

The country attained its independence 3years (1960) ahead of Kenya and they also had the same challenges we’re currently facing in our film & music industry, in fact theirs was much worse.

According to “Film Makers and Film Making in Nigeria: Problems and Prospects” by Augustine Ufua Enahora:

Film distribution and exhibition in Nigeria were in foreign hands and foreigners decide the films to be screened in Nigerian theatres. They screened very old films that they bought at a give-away prices and the core of their politics was to discourage indigenous film production. The films were of Western and Indian cultures and styles. The Nigerian film audience was conditioned by these styles and found it difficult to appreciate Nigerian films. This perpetual presence of Western aesthetics influenced not only the film goers, but had adverse effects on the film makers. Films screened in Nigerian theatres by that time neglected their educational philosophy, its goals and objectives, there institutional framework and cultural background. The foreigners created social and psychological problems.

Well, that was in the late 80’s, to be precise 1989. Today, Nigeria’s movie industry grosses US$200m-US$300m a year in revenues and actually Nollywood has become the embodiment of the country’s soft power, employing about a million people.

On music matters, less than a decade ago Nigerian airwaves were dominated by international songs, and most club DJs had to ensure that the majority of tracks on their playlists were foreign records or risk the loss of an audience. MTV hardly played African music and Nigerian artists earned peanuts relative to the amounts they command today. In recent times however, this trend is reversed as club DJs and TV stations have their tracks dominated by local records.

Love-Kenyan-music.jpg

I think we all can relate to the above paragraph, and that’s why I’m asking; Is there still hope for Kenya’s Entertainment Industry?, Will this “stupid” trend of ours be reversed? Anyway We can only wish for the best.

Feel free to leave your interesting comment below.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: DJ Creme Back In The Day (PHOTO)

I have a throwback picture straight from the deep, dark, dunk archives of childhood. the happy memories that often get condemned to the back of our minds the older we get yet to remember them, allows us to be transported to a moment in a our past, an intimate moment when everything was alright.

For DJ Creme, it was when he was a little lad climbing up trees, something every African boy should be able to relate to. What about the girls? Well, Creme’s sister certainly wasn’t one to be out done by the lad! She got up the tree in a white “Sunday Best” and all! Check them out below:

Gospel Show Host Responds to Allegations of Having Sexual Relations with His Female Listeners

If there are people who are harshly judged are artistes in Gospel Ministry whenever they stumble. It wasn’t anything different when acclaimed Gospel Radio show host, Paul Kamau AKA Paul K was shaved with the same blade or as ‘Baba’ would say, “kunyolewa bila maji.”

Anyhow, the former Truth FM breakfast show host has been linked to various unsubstantiated reports of that attempted to explain his untimely exit from the Gospel Radio station. PK has since clarified one of the allegations, that of which he was busted drunk and disorderly in studio, but yet to respond to whether he used to have sexual relations with the station’s female listeners.

Speaking to Ghafla! exclusively, PK stated resolutely, “Okay, that’s new to me. I’ve never heard about that one. I’ve never slept with any listener. By the way I can dare them, if I have ever slept with anyone of them let them come to Ghafla! Kenya and just say it.”

On claims that he’s been swindling Truth FM listeners of cash, PK is quick to point out that he’s never done anything like and that he’s not broke because he has other projects.

“One thing I’ve realized about people is that they will really celebrate you when you’re doing good, when you’re up there. But then, there are always malicious.”

Asked what he’s doing currently and his next move as far as radio is concerned, PK says,

“I’m going to be on TV (TBN Media) and apart from that, there are going to be new concepts but basically I want to show the world my creative brains…am going to be on TV but on radio it will be limited.”

After Leaving Kiss F.M,Miss Mandi Joins Popular Radio Station

Miss Mandi is one of the lasses that have enjoyed an impressive rise in Radio. After quitting her show on Hits F.M, the ‘Morning After’ Miss Mandi was employed by Radio Africa as a radio presenter in Kiss 100.

Three weeks had barely gone by and the lass was out of the station. The rumor mill was on overdrive and word on the streets was that the lass had been thrown out on the cold streets of Nairobi by her former employers. It was said that the lass would be joining Capital F.M soon.

She informed us that she had not been fired but chose to quit, she however  remained coy about joining Capital F.M but told us that we should be all ears as she could be coming to a radio station near us.

Well we can confirm that Miss Mandi is at Capital F.M according to this picture posted by the beautiful Sharon Mundia, the latest addition to the Capital F.M family

All Star Groundie: Lillian Muli, Jalang’o and Kanze Dena Take A Groundie (Photo)

Selfies are out, groundies are cool. It has now become pretty common to see people taking groundies, so common that most celebrities have jumped into the groundie band-wagon.

However, this kind of fad isn’t new, our parents did it first and now it is no longer frowned upon when you flip through your parent’s old albums. It’s now the new cool way of taking pictures and is being widely endorsed on tabloids, social media and blogs especially in Africa.

This trend could go global or it could fade away into internet. Who knows?
Anyhow, Jalang’o seems to have become fond of the trend and after taking one with his co-host and Chris Kirwa, he took one with the Citizen crew, Lillian Muli,Mike Okinyi,Waihiga Mwaura and Kanze Dena

Watch A Fan Made Video For Just A Band’s Probably For Lovers

Just A Band are a sad tale if ever I told one. The lads are huge in Kenya but they are megastars in Europe. Le sigh! Why? Because the prophet is seldom appreciated at home. But away from all that rot and onto the music. Just A Band are the most creative Kenyan act since for ever. They know how to make whimsical dreams that float around on a plane of transcendence into a tangible product -music.

And they produced an album
“Scratch To reveal” which in my humble estimates was the example of Neo-African musical brilliance  but then again, what do I know? But away from that, one of my and indeed most people’s favourite song off that album was Probably for lovers. Why? because it spoke to my very being. Everyone has been in a situation similar to the one the song is based on and can therefore relate.

And such a song deserves a video but the good folk from Just A Band, Blinky Bill Dan Muli and Mbithi Masya decided not to make a video for it. Whatever the case, a group of fans led by Patricia Kihoro decided to honour the song with a video. Check it out below:

American Online Radio Show Host Weighs In On Vera Sidika’s Bleaching

The cosmetic industry is really thriving and being a plastic surgeon in this time and age is possibly the best career move. This is because plastic surgery has become a rewarding business due to the insane number of people who want their assets enhanced, their noses reduced and their eyes widened.

And the need to change our appearances does not only apply to Africans, Asians want their eyes widened to look like white people, white people want to get a tan and have their lips filled to look like black people ,and black people want to look like white people, complexion wise that is.

So Vera Sidika’s bleaching case is not isolated, people from all walks of life and races want to change how they look. This is because of society which generally pressures people to look a certain way. Even Vera tells us that her life is much easier now that she is lighter. Vera Sidika’s bleaching has gained international recognition and now an online radio host and you tube user recently weighed in on the issue.

The lady, Lovely Ti gives props to Vera for being honest about her procedure but describes the skin bleaching trend as ‘disturbing’ and ‘sad’. In her opinion,  black people are trying to run away from our blackness as  white people are trying to tan themselves to look more black.

Comical Confrontation Between Ex Tabasamu Actress and Her Husband’s Mpango wa Kando

Trapped is a hilarious audience-pleasing fast-paced comedy. Its physical over-the-top makes our last show Dangerous Affairs seem like a prayer meeting by comparison.

The comedy is starring Kenya’s superstars directed by Derrick Amunga and Mbeki Mwalimu. The setting of Trapped is a medical hospital. A doctor (Nick Ndeda) is practicing the lecture he will deliver to an assembly of fellow gynecologists

in less than an hour. The speech’s success is vital to his career.

Interruptions abound. First it’s various other medical staff rehearsing for a performance (i.e. the cheeky Nigerian doctor played by Maina Olwenya; tough talking matron played by Veronica Waceke; a pregnant intern doctor played by Lulu Wilson and the new doctor played by Henry Gitau Ngogoyo). Then a long-ago ex (Wangari Gioche), who was once a nurse at the hospital, brings the news that she gave birth 16 years earlier to the doctor’s daughter (Janet Kirina) and the daughter is in the hospital in search of Dad! Yes, there is his harsh wife (Rosemary Waweru), and she knows nothing of the past liaison!

And in the spiraling chaos of deceit, false identity and manic cover-up that ensues, the mission is to avoid the daughter, pacify the ex, keep the chief specialist and hospital deputy director (Derrick Amunga) at bay and fend off various distractions, among them a patient from deep in the village excited by the goings-on (Johnson Chege) and an inquisitive police officer.
