Media Wars: Ciku Muiruri Tears Caroline Mutoko A New One. Calls Her The ‘Epic Fail That Is Kiss TV’

Ciku Muiruri has never had any qualms about expressing herself in any way she pleases regardless of what anyone thinks and she certainly did not pull any punches when talking about Caroline Mutoko.

In an exchange between a fan and her She referred to Caroline Mutoko as the ‘failure that is Kiss TV’

It all started when Ciku shared this:

Ciku_vs_caro.jpg

Ciku Muiruri“Governments that want to institute dictatorship start by dominating and directing the media.” – Raila Odinga. Well, you can’t argue with that.

And a fan named Brian Kimani decided to engage her on Social media writing:

Okay Ciku.. First things first, respect you much and secondly how about we all first go DIGITAL sisi wote with no ultimatums then let’s see whether the government is trying to be dictatorial in any form. Lastly, search for your former boss Caroline Mutoko on YouTube then lemme see what you say next.

Good digital Kenya.

To which Ciku Muiruri replied “Caroline equals the epic fail that is KISS TV. Caroline now equals Bamba TV. Open your eyes my dear. They alongside everyone else want to reap where they have not sown.” Before adding that “Brian Kimani I saw your inbox, you should’ve posted those comments from Caroline here, I have nothing to hide. How is this even a discussion? She is the Group Marketing manager and represents RAG interests. When she goes on youtube and does that little number, does it not benefit RAG? Bamba TV and Kiss TV are not things she can distance herself from. That’s like a coach saying he wasn’t the one on the field playing so they have no responsibility when the team loses. Finally I have no idea why you keep referring to her as my boss. I have never worked for Caroline. My boss at RAG was Maina Kageni (Classic 105 Programme Controller). I was his deputy. The chain of command therefafter is Pete Sinclair, Group Programme controller. Martin Khafafa, General Manager and Patrick Quarcoo, CEO. Hope to have informed you well.”

Here is the full exchange

‘God Loves Some People More Than He Does To Others’. Find Out Why Chameleone Is Accusing God

The Ugandan heartthrob is a besieged man and is laying his blame on God for woes befalling Africans as few individuals swim in massive wealth.

Jose Chameleone, one of the most established East African artistes is blaming God for the problems that Africans are undergoing through.

Speaking about the inspiration behind his hit song Wale Wale, Chameleone has said that in all his travels across Africa, he has realised that many people are suffering because God is very unfair when dealing with people.

Chameleone does not believe that God has ever been fair. He narrates the story of the life of Congolese people he saw when he was performing in Congo, saying that despite Congo being rich in minerals, it has very poor people as if benefit from the natural resources.

Chameleone says that he also wonders why the K-factor is playing ground in East Africa. He says that almost all East African presidents have names starting with K.

Chameleone adds that leaders are ignoring the poor as they benefit themselves. Here is the interview he had with Ghafla! Kenya:

It’s ‘Dope Friday’ Party People, And This Is Where We Are Getting Turnt Up!

He describes himself as He describes himself as “the dope bouy from NickDee Entertainment and even your mother knows him”.  He’s DJ Kym NickDee!

He’s been christened the king of the streets in mixtapes from a little bit of Afro House, Urban House, Dance and of course the very best of local music. You don’t have to go through the trouble of hustling for his crazy mixtapes anymore on such an easy Friday.

This Friday, the talented deejay will be at Cubano; the largest terrace bar in Nairobi with amazing ambiance and a relaxed grown up feel, for the ultimate out door party venue for what has been dubbed ‘The Dope Fridays’.

Entry is free! Just walk in and have the time of your life.So how about you Dust yo swag up and lets party mad!

The night out is for 21+ years only!

Cubano is located at Donholm at the Greenspan Mall.

Meet the Mzungu Inmate Making A Change In Naivasha GK Prison

Many of us have thankfully never been to jail, maybe a night in police cells but not a maximum correction facility.

From the outside, Prison seems pretty awful .When you envision prison, you think f a life of not dropping the soap, watching your back in case someone shanks you, joining prison gang to stay safe, basically a dungeon of squalor and extreme misery.

But it’s not all doom and gloom in prison, that part about losing your freedom sucks but it’s also a place where you could gain skills that you couldn’t afford to gain on the outside. You have heard of prisoners gaining skills such as metal work, teaching and tailoring, but did you know you could study engineering in prison?

K24 highlights the story of a prisoner of European descent, Moses Joakim, who was arrested over drug trafficking but now he is an engineer and his professional skills are used in the prison, he is the chief engineer.

This morning we woke up to Nairobi on a rampage, yes KOT was all up in arms trolling Governor Evans Kidero for throwing his two cents on the return of KTN, NTV and Citizen TV.

Before you jump on the bandwagon, I suggest you take a step back, have a sit, take a deep breath and continue reading this. Maybe he wanted the stations back for a worthy cause.

Have you heard about Ejijipay? I’m thinking no? Well, Ejijipay is the new service by Nairobi County which is bound to revolutionise payments in Nairobi.

In simple, it allows you to pay your County Bills from the comfort of your home in your PC or mobile phone using these easy steps:

10 Countries With The Most Beautiful Women In Africa. Kenya Is On The List But Number 9 Will Shock You Though (Photos)

The nation has once again fared impressively on the continental stage after it emerged as one of the countries with most beautiful faces.

Early September last year, a research done by South Africans ranked Kenya as the country with the ugliest people in Africa.

See also: Kenyans are The Ugliest People in Africa New Study Shows

The research rubbed KOT the wrong way sparking a twitter war with the South African counterparts.

According to a list published by Anchor Vibe, Kenya has been ranked a record second behind Ethiopia as the country with the most beautiful women in the continent.

The sparkling one and only Habida was the face of Kenya on the list. The blog used the seductress’ eye-popping photo to represent the beautiful women of the country.

We managed to defeat our loud West African brothers, Nigeria and Africa’s most developed nation, South Africa, who were ranked seventh and eight respectively.

Another gatecrasher on the list was Zimbabwe. The South African state was ranked ninth. But I don’t remember the Mugabenation ever having more pretty women than Rwanda.

Uncle Bob’s country is certainly a shocker on that list. Talking of Rwanda, the tiny East African country is conspicuously missing from the list. What on happened?

I mean we all know Rwanda has the angels. Take for example the current Miss Rwanda 2015, Doriane Kundwa, who caused a stir in Kenya by her impressive beauty. And let’s not forget Paul Kagame’s super sexy daughter who trended worldwide the moment the globe saw her gorgeous photos.

Generally, Rwandese women receive standing ovation whenever they pop up anyway. Most Kenyan men would agree Rwanda is the epitome of beauty in Africa.

Anyway, the list thought otherwise. So let’s take it as it is for now less we file a petition. Check out the full list below:

1. Ethiopia

2. Kenya

3. Ivory Coast

4. Tanzania

5. Ghana

6. DR Congo

7. Nigeria

8. South Africa

Did Laura Oyier (The Girl In The 230,000 Kshs Intercon Bill Saga) Bleach Herself? This Old Photo Of Her Is Beyond Shocking!

‘The internet never forgets’ is a quote we have heard many people say in a bid to deter us from putting up anything unflattering on the web. You can run away from your past, start a new life but it’s shocking just how much comes up with a simple Google search. Its the mouth that comes back to bite our behinds.

The fact that internet records and stores virtually everything about us makes it impossible to run. And a simple Google search of Laura, the girl charged in court fort amassing huge bill at the Intercontinental hotel reveals a shocking photo.

Her is Laura back in 2010 in a photo from Time Out Dubai

And here is Laura Now. her complexion has changed but the eyebrows are still intact.

Shots Fired: ‘You Are The Tallest Dwarfs In The Land’, NTV and QTV Launch A Scathing Attack At K24 And KBC

The Nation Media Group-owned TV stations have attacked their counterparts after they finally returned to air after three weeks of switch off following the digital migration saga pitting the government and three powerful media houses in the land.

NTV and QTV have launched a scathing attack at K24 and KBC by calling the two TV stations the tallest dwarfs in the land. NTV and QTV say they are giants.

K24 and KBC have been on air while the four major TV stations remained switched off for three weeks, a period in which the former enjoyed massive viewership from the audiences thanks to the fact that they were the only local TV stations available.

ntv

And after the four returned back on air, they Nation Centre-based TV stations have started a war of words with the other two stations, even though they did not mention them directly.

There is been cold blood between K24 and KBC and the four TV stations after the former failed to support the latter as they fought court battles with the government over digital migration.

The latest turn of events is likely to throw the already sour relationship between the media houses into jeopardy as supremacy battles loom.

Domestic Violence. The Harrowing Tale Of A Woman Who Was Assaulted By Her Husband. (Graphic Images)

We never thought we’d go back to the dark days, the days when our women wouldn’t walk the streets for the fear that devoid of class full of crass perverts would way lay them and strip them with the lame excuse that they were dressed indecently. Three months down the line a section of the culprits are behind bars serving life sentence at correctional facilities. While it helped clear the menace from the curb, such men who have no regard for women continue to batter, injure and main hapless women.

What happened  to chivalry? A man should never hit a woman, even with a rose! But this is far from it, we live in a country where a few elements (read men) are tainting the names of each an every gentleman of gentle comportment. It is such people that we should not have in our midst, they are like like cancer, if we don’t do away with them earlier enough, they are going to be the bane of our existence. They should be culled and neutered (by neutered I mean castrated) The neutered one should then be incarcerated for the rest of their miserable lives.

Yesterday, these graphic photos were doing rounds on social media: Discretion is advised. The reason they appear on this post is because we need everybody to be sensitized against gender violence in all it forms. All culprits should be brought to book.

It is sad and unfortunate, that the men who are supposed to be members of the unit called family are the ones who are responsible for acts such as this.

To the photos was added this caption:

Making this (previously private) post public so everyone can see what a horrible person you are! Raymond Osimbo you should be ashamed of yourself! You are one disgusting piece of filth to beat your wife and my sister like this! What kind of man are you? This time you have overplayed your hand.. And you better watch your back. What kind of a man posts pictures of a vacation you went without your wife? You have kids for God’s sake. Is this how you want your sons to treat their women when they grow up? There you are thinking you are somebody with a job my sister found for you. Go be a cheat at your own place but leave my sister be. No real man beats their wife into unconsciousness like you did here. SHAME SHAME SHAME. Will not rest until you are in Jail and the keys are thrown away. Everybody else please pray for my sister. ‪#‎DomesticViolence‬‪#‎Wifebeater‬

The culprit in question is Raymond Osimbo. Yesterday, the culprit was still at large. We hope that the relevant persons will get onto the matter and apprehend the man.

Daisy Odeka is part of the incredible cast of Papa Shirandula that included Jacky Vike and Jacqueline Nyaminde.

She divulges more about life away from her screen Character Naliaka to joycarole.com

Here are some things you do not know about Daisy

  1. Her family is her pillar of support and her spiritual parents; Pastor Jimmy and Mercy Macharia have also contributed to her success
  2. Her most daunting role was acting as a child sexually abused by an elderly man. She says the role was hard as she had watched such harrowing stories on TV before and the images of the poor children haunted her.
  3. The cast of Papa Shirandula is like family to her.Naliaka.jpg
  4. When she is not on TV she makes jewelry and she indulges in other hobbies such as travelling baking and cooking.
  5. Her role as Naliaka has had a heavy impact in her life; aside from the money which has ensured she is financially independent she has also received jobs and other favors thanks to her role.

Eric Omondi Admits To Being A Virgin

The comedian had said in one of the blogs in the country that he has never had sex in his entire life and now he is reiterating the same sentiment.

Eric Omondi has reiterated that he has never been laid or rather he has never laid anyone in his life ever since he were born.

The comedian, speaking eclusively to Ghafla, said that it is one of the things he has never done in his entire life.

Eric puts a serious face as he discusses this topic with Ghafla, ascertaining the sentiments he made a few months ago that he is a virgin.

The comedian however, admitted that he is intending to break his virginity on of these fine days, though he is not sure when that will come.

So the rumour about Eric being Citizen TV siren Jackie Maribe’s baby daddy are unfounded! Is this what Eric wants to make us believe? well, definitely.

Rumour has been doing round lately that Eric once dated Jackie Maribe and that he is the one who sired the TV reporter’s kid. This came after a photo of Jackie and Dennis Itumbi exchanging saliva leaked in the internet.

Here is what Eric said:

This Is What Citizen TV And KTN Screen Bigwigs Were Doing Before Going Back On Air (Photos)

Ever wondered what the popular faces on TV were doing when their stations went off air? Well, they disclosed the ‘odd’ things they were doing.

The three week TV blackout seems to have transformed media personalities that were affected by the switch off.

Forget the ‘lie’ the affected media houses were propagating that it was work as normal in their houses throughout the three week blackout, the truth is finally out.

The employees at these news outlets were some ‘peculiar’ activities . For instance, SMG’s news anchors and presenters were filming parody shows and doing crazy stuff. (Ahmed Darwesh was busy playing cat and mouse with Shaniqua.)

{youtube}BFMwIB0qsAo{/youtube}

Crossing over to Royal Media, their news anchors were very busy with the camera. I think by now they must have become professional selfie takers because that was what was keeping them occupied.

Janet Mbugua, Kanze Dena, Lulu Hassan and many others took a couple of selfies showing off their sparkling beauty. Check out the selfies below:

THE LIST: 10 Kenyan Celebrities Who Are Snobbish, Arrogant And Difficult To Deal With

They are abrasive, arrogant and snobbish. They are the celebrities who roll like immortal gods while the rest of us are just glide as mere humans. They ride on pre-constructed lanes and won’t hesitate to shove you aside if you try to come close. ‘’They have reached’’ (wamefika), or so they believe

Celebrity divas, both male and female, are nothing new. Although a lot of celebs try to pride themselves on being humble and down-to-earth, there are others that just don’t care.. Whether they are ignoring fans or not talking to fellow stars, these celebs have really ruffled some industry feathers. These are the 10 celebs who may have invisibly branded the word “brat” before their name.

Larry Madowo

lariiiiii

The week before Valentine’s Day, Ghafla’s Sue Watiri decided to an article about what various Kenyan Celebrities would be doing on the overhyped day of love. With a blend of excitement and enthusiasm, she hollad at Larry Madowo. Little did she know that she was about to be shot down like a US Marine Chopper on Pakistani airspace. No sooner had she coughed a word than he said, “I am not a celebrity. I am busy too. Have a good day.” Then he hung up.

You should have seen the look on Sue’s face as she continued clutching on her phone in disbelief.

Caroline Mutoko

caroooo

Her persona is riddled with outbursts and meltdowns. Let’s just say Caroline is an expert at going irate. She just doesn’t tolerate people that are ‘nobodies’. According to popular opinion, she is tough to interact with and talking to her makes you feel really intimidated. Recently she threatened the whole world by saying nobody should call her ‘Caro’. Whoever you are, simple refer to her with her dual nouns – Caroline Mutoko. Get that?

Octopizzo

octozzzzzz

Octopizzo likes ‘catching feelings’. He blocked me on Facebook and Twitter after I wrote two bad articles about him. And it doesn’t end there. Rumor has it that the rapper turns down shows all the time. What else? 90% hip artistes in Kenya don’t like him. They all feel he became too arrogant after he broke out and began wearing shiny clothes and multi-colored sneakers

Huddah Monroe

hudaaa3333

While Team Thirsty sing nothing but praises when it comes to Miss Njoroge (Huddah), people that have tried to interact with her say the complete opposite. Despite being a socialite, she isn’t that social. She has even declined all interviews from us despite the fact that we are oligopolistically responsible for raising her star status. The only time we came close, her list of demands stretched so far, being so absurd that there was no way we could accommodate her.

Robert Alai

alaiiiii

He’s the jatelo that clobbered a City Council askari the pother day. The fierce blogger has been spotted sitting alone at several events including Gor Mahia games. Call him ‘The Lone Blogger’ Perhaps he feels he would lose the ability to type, if someone got too close to him. Or maybe he thinks the CIA are out to capture and neutralize him.

Anita Nderu

anitaaaa

Anita Nderu looks like one of the sweetest souls to ever walk the earth, but according to sources this chick has a bit of a mean streak. An accusation tabled against her and forwarded to us stated that the news presenter once showed up for an on-camera interview hours late, and told the interviewers to “make this 10 minutes,” because she had other things to do

Prezzo

prezidente

‘Le Presidente’ has an infamous reputation for being one of the meanest rappers, ever! He’s been called out multiple times for being rude and arrogant and just all around unpleasant. He’s full of himself. In fact, no one loves Prezzo more than Prezzo himself. Even his CMB entourage claimed he was difficult to deal with.

Njoki Chege

njokiiiiiiiiwwww

It might seem premature to refer to her as a celebrity but at least she has the traction. She’s every man’s favorite villain. Njoki Chege, the popular feminist writer preaches the gospel of jackass men. So does she preach water and drink wine or does she preach water then drink the water? The answer is ‘none of the above’. The Nation columnist preaches water and drinks nothing. I hear she dodges fans too. if she was allowed to walk with a mask on, she would do just that

Joy Kendi

joiiiii2

The actress/fashion designer could kick a cat with sharp pointed heels. Scores of people who feel aggrieved by her behavior claim she’s one woman who puts herself on a higher pedestal than she actually is.

Sharon Mundia

mundiaaaa

Doesn’t Sharon seem so down-to-earth on all her photos? Well, apparently it’s all a front. Close sources reveal she always looks like she’s about to call security when she is approached by guys. It’s only that she doesn’t have the security…..hahaaa

The Story Of Meshack, Shadrack And Abednego, Triplets Who Scored Same Grade In The Released 2014 KCSE Results

From the Holy book, the Bible, we all know the story of three courageous gentlemen who refused to kneel before a earthly king and worship him. Instead, they chose to be thrown into a fire furnace than stoop that low. Well, as God lives, Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego survived the furnace as a fourth individual was seen accompanying them in the furnace. Amen?

Kenya too has its Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego, who unlike the trio in the Bible have different characteristics that define them.

The Kenyan brothers are triplets, meaning they were born at the same time 19 years ago to pastor Eugene Amoti who is a single mother.

The triplets surprised the country when they scored the same grade in the recently released KCSE results. They scored a B- (minus).

triplets

From left: Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego

Their story is a captivating one. Having schooled at Mount Carmel Academy in Kisumu where they almost scored the same marks in their KCPE exams, they joined Kisumu Day High School but were in different streams.

What surprised many, however, is the fact that the three scored the same grade with the difference being in the points. One had 57, another 56 and the other 55 points.

Their mother has been full of joy after her sons made her proud by gaining University entry grades.

However, the triplets say that they will study different courses in university. They want to join Kenyatta university

At 18, our biggest predicament is usually where to party over the weekend and which drinks are pocket friendly yet safe, but at 18 Victoria Rubadiri was dealing with a whole different ball game.

She got pregnant, and she opens up to Catherine Odera of True Love Magazine.

True_love_march_2015.jpg

After moving to the states at the tender age of 10, she found it hard to fit in to the new culture and she became withdrawn , enveloped in a cocoon and when she opened up to someone she opened up to a guy who got her pregnant. Scared, she decided to terminate the pregnancy but her dad intervened.

At first, her baby’s father rejected the pregnancy but with time they were able to build an amicable relationship and next year the two will be flying off to New Jersey to visit her daughter’s father.

She says that the father-daughter relationship is great and he supports her on her decision to move back to the 254 to eke a living for their daughter. In addition, her baby daddy also cheers her on in all her ventures.

Caroline Mutoko Reveals Why She Will Never Get Married

Caroline Mutoko is one very respected woman especially after her voice ruled radio for over a decade, amassing a wonderful support from Kenyans.

She, however, chose never to marry in her life. Instead, Caroline went ahead and adopted a daughter whom she dearly loves.

Many Kenyans have been asking why Caroline Mutoko chose never to marry as years go by. The former radio queen has always been quiet about the same, choosing never to comment anything about her love life.

However, as time drifts away, the celebrated radio personality is gradually revealing why she has never thought of being walked down the aisle by a man.

Through her You Tube channel, Mutoko has applauded fellow ladies for the far they have come and reminded them of the things their mothers would not do because they were restricted by their fathers or the male figures in their lives.

Mutoko says that many years ago women would not do anything without the consent of the male figure in their lives unlike these days when ladies can do anything they want without restriction.

Is Caroline revealing the reasons behind her hatred for a marriage? Well, here is what she is saying:

Kalekye Mumo Loses Her Job To A Homeboyz Radio’s Sassy Presenter

Starting this coming Wednesday, there will be a new host who will be replacing the lively Kalekye Mumo on her popular show on K24 TV.

Kalekye’s presence on TV has been dealt a blow after K24 replaced her with Homeboyz Radio’s (HBR) presenter, Mwalimu Rachel.

The Kiss FM’s presenter used to host Couples Show which airs every Wednesdays on K24. The show tests couples’ knowledge of each other and awards Kes 100,000 to the pair that emerges as the winner.

HBR’s Mwalimu Rachel will be hosting the show starting this Wednesday. She was unveiled on the Show’s official Facebook page.

kam.jpg

When Ghafla! reached Kalekye for comment regarding the same, the ever happy presenter revealed she decided to call it quit at K24 for this year.

She told us she was focussing on other productions and hopefully she would be back on the screens soon. When and where she will be back is still her secret. Guess she wants to surprise you.

Until Kalekye surfaces on the screen again, just be catching up with her on Kiss FM.

K24 Finally Unveils Michelle Morgan

After Missing In Action For Months, Michelle Morgan Joins K24

After Four Months working of riding solo, Michelle Morgan is making her way back to our screen on K24 and her comeback is sooner than we thought…she was unveiled yesterday in the weekend edition promo.

What We Learnt In The 3 Weeks The Four TV Stations Were Off Air: The Merits And Demerits

Call it three weeks of ‘blackout’ or switch off or whatever term that suits your description of the days four major TV stations in the country were unavailable for viewership thanks to the self-switch off that three media houses owning these stations imposed on themselves to protest forced digital migration.

The country literally relied on two TV stations for information. K24 and KBC enjoyed three weeks of religious viewership, with viewership having no choice but to rely entirely on the two for local news.

However, the switch off had merits and demerits , with Kenyans benefiting and losing in almost equal measure. Ghafla! Kenya delves deep into what happened over the three weeks of what some call blackout and brings you what we learnt over the whole saga.

Merits Of The Switch Off

Peace- Sincerely speaking, it has been long since Kenyans got a break from wrangles and hatemongering and propaganda thrown from one ethnic group to another with stereotypes about tribes and ethnic backgrounds taking centre-stage. A keen look into the social media and other platforms will tell you that in the three weeks the media houses were off air, these vices have significantly dropped, begging the rhetorical question, is main stream media the main cause of all the ethnic ills perpetrated on social media? This question is rhetorical because we all have an answer to it. Media is an agenda setter, and the main agendas our mainstream media set are inclined towards ethnic discrimination and tribalism. This they do in a way that they leave Kenyans throwing tantrums at each other as they sit back and enjoy the number of followers and likes they have on social media platforms. With their switch-off, the four have been greatly inactive not only from our screens but also on the social media. My bonafide presence on the social media tells me that this is the time most Kenyans have come together for a common course: telling off the TV stations for hawking lies about digital migration.

Politics- Kenyans desperately needed a big break from the murky waters of politics. They say politics is a dirty game and when you get into it, be ready to be mottled. Well, the four TV stations these days are so much into politics and funny enough they have been desperately trying to drag Kenyans into the political swamps. Newsrooms are on the run to impress politicians with comprehensive coverage of not-so-important political events. Editors have pocketed colossal amounts of money to sell political policies to the masses, effectively annoying Kenyans who want more than just politics. These three weeks have been so peaceful. Ask any Kenyan out there and they will tell you why they never missed KTN, NTV, Citizen TV and QTV. Politic, politics, politics.

Importance Of The Social Media Was Underlined- Founders of the social media platforms (Mark Zuckerberg-Facebook, Evan Williams, Noah Glass, Jack Dorsey and Biz Stone-Twitter, John Koum-Whatsapp, Larry Page and Sergey Brin- Google) are a blessing that God ever put on this world. Have you ever imagined how the world was before social media and other platforms? Horrible, right? Well, the social media defines all of us these days. Things have become cheaper and faster these days thanks to the social media. This was even manifested further when the four TV stations were off air. Information reached us faster and even in its raw form. No one trimmed it or gave it a different perspective that proved ambiguous and warped. The social media proved to be the most up-to-date source of information. Even the three media houses turned to the social media to reach out to the audiences.

Unity Among Kenyans- with the self-switch off, Kenyans became even more united than ever before. This was the first time we saw all Kenyans uniting for one common course: to tell off the four TV stations for lying to Kenyans about digital migration. In fact this was the first time most Kenyans from both sides of the political divide united against the four TV stations. I guess it was one of the reasons why they hurriedly returned to air because they were seriously losing ground to their competitors who remained on air. It showed that Kenyans can at times come together for a common course, unlike the perception many have that Kenyans can never unite.

Demerits Of The Switch-Off

Job Loss- Many professions earn their living by working in the three media houses- RMS, NMG and SMG. In fact, it is justified to say that the three media houses have the highest number of employees in the media industry in Kenya, three times the number of those that remained on air. The switch off meant that there was no income and therefore job security was at stake. What remained was a massive lay off in the three media houses, leading to massive loss of jobs. Oh, thank God they are back on air, re-energised and strong.

Monopoly and Poor Services- Someone was already enjoying the monopoly of being on air without stiff competition from a serious competitor. K24 and KBC were shallow in their coverage because they probably knew they were the only TV stations available for Kenyans. And even if they did it perfectly, we couldn’t tell because we had no other channel to compare their stories with. With the availability of the four major TV stations, Kenyans are spoilt for choices.

Information Deficiency- The three weeks have been horrible for those who care to know what is happening. Kenyans have been literally in the dark informationwise and this has been a horrible experience. A society deprived of information automatically becomes an endangered society. With the coming back of the TV stations, the social media will be complemented to give Kenyans a comprehensive and up-to-date coverage of the happenings within and without.

Economy- The three media houses greatly boost the economy of the country. With their switch off, many things stalled, the economy got a major setback as taxes could not be paid and employees were threatened with a sack. With their availability, we are assured that everything will get back to normal.

CABU GAH DIARIES: Fare Thee Well Janet Ciru Akolo…The Saddest Story On The Internet Has Come To An End. (Funeral Photos)

Finally,Janet Ciru Akolo, the singer, mother, wife and wonderful Kenyan who passed away on 24th February 2015 has finally been laid to rest…And it was a sad sad day….For family, friends, fans, supporters and general Kenyan internet users.

Janet’s story exploded on the internet after her and her husband’s very exemplary marriage story was published by the Daily Nation-by Stella Cherono-both online and on the newspapers. Janet’s story of survival amid pain, laughter amid medicine and smile amid medical trips drove millions of Kenyans wild….And they shared her story thousands and thousands of times across social Media…to celebrate the life of one very meritorious life lived.

But what captured and enchanted Kenyans most was Walter’s own story. Walter Akolo met Janet in 2002. At a High School Drama Festival event….And whats funny is that,as narrated by Walter himself,Janet and Walter were both actors in their respective schools’ plays…And the interesting part was; Walter was acting as a woman. And Janet was acting as a man.

And after that meeting, the two of them grew real close….And in 2007,just some 5 years later, the twosome got married. Defiantly.

Kenyans were captivated by Walter’s conduct throughout his marriage, his resilience, stoicism, patience and deep deep love for his mentally-troubled wife who would exhibit endless psychotic behaviors and who had attempted suicide TWICE after the birth of her last child.

Walter, throughout all of these challenges and almost ceaseless extreme medical upheavals, still remained by his wife’s side…Loving her, holding her, treating her, praying for her, nursing her and protecting her…It was even revealed,at the sombre funeral, that Janet and Walter were practically inseparable. They were a tight, unbreakable bond..And Walter would, even many years into their marriage, still call Janet “Sweety” even in the presence of parents or visitors.

Walter himself, decked out in a sharp, black suit, gave his moving tributes…And he spoke like a man. A stoic, strong man, who, even though he had just lost the love of his life, still could manage to stand and talk. And accept the inevitable. I watched him talk…And my heart sank. Deep.

Janet had been suffering from Post-Partum Depression (PPD), a condition that affects some women soon after giving birth.

“She would lack sleep, be extremely irritable, have hallucinations and sometimes even experience episodes of psychosis,” Walter told the Daily Nation last week.

But even before that,Janet had actually been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder nine years earlier, but the couple had managed to keep her condition under control.

Walter even had to quit his job to care for and nurse his frequently sickly wife,Janet. And their two kids,Tiffany and Tedd Akolo who is now only 3.

But what made Janet’s condition deteriorate was the PPD…And,after many years of struggle, suicide attempts, midnight outbursts, hallucinations and endless painful medications,Janet, who was born on 29th June 1985,finally breathed her last on February 24th 2015 at 2.30pm. She was only 29.

Janet was a musician who had worked with Jamaican Dancehall artiste Konshens,Eric Wainaina,Kayamba Africa and numerous bands among them Qitta Ngoma Band,Basi Tu Band and Weavers Band.

You can read the whole story HERE.

And yesterday, after we all read her story, cried, fell in love with Walter, shared it and sighed deep,I attended her funeral at All Saints Cathedral.

There was a massive massive crowd of people….some of whom couldn’t even fit in the packed church auditorium. And,person after person,Janet was showered with illuminating praise…From her former classmates in Buru Buru, her community at USP(Users and Survivors of Psychiatry),family, workmates and in-laws.

Janet was later laid outside the Church after a very sharp and poignant sermon by Evangelist John Kilaha of Nairobi Christian Church where Janet was a committed born-again member.

Her Bro-in-law Christopher Akolo had earlier on,tearfully, read her eulogy as her other relative Ken Akolo gave the vote of thanks.

Hundreds of people then poured outside and queued to view Janet’s body for the last time. I queued too…And,even though I had never met Janet, after vying her lifeless body, lying colorfully in that lily-white casket,I felt like I had known her. I felt like I viewed a friend….someone I knew.

The procession then moved to Lang’ata to finally inter her body at the Lang’ata Cemetery….I couldn’t make it to Lang’ata though.

I,however, bought an RIP Janet t-shirt….And will keep it. And treasure it. Forever…I hope.

Fare thee well,Janet Ciru Akolo. I didn’t know You. But now I do…..You,sweetheart,shall be missed…

Even by strangers like Me. Lala Salama,Mama Tiff.

Walter,May the Lord comfort You…Guide and guard You…and may He console You better than all mortals ever could…You are a strong Man. A model husband…We shall imitate You and aspire to love, persevere, hope and stay as loyal as You.

Once again,REST IN PEACE,Janet Ciru Akolo.

Kenyans Angrily Attack Governor Kidero For Welcoming Back The Four TV Stations

Finally, after three weeks of blackout, the four TV stations- KTN, NTV, Citizen and QTV- returned back on air with renewed energy and spirit.

Kenyans eagerly waited with baited breath over the return, with rumours all over that the stations will only be available on specific set-top boxes.

Among those overjoyed by the return of the four TV stations was Nairobi County Governor Dr. Evans Kidero who took to his twitter account to post:

kidero

However, Kenyans seem to have been angered by the decision to switch themselves off and poured their anger on Kidero for feeling he was thinking politics in his update.

Here are some responses he got:

Metal Heads,Goths, Emos And Posers! Kenyan Rockers Are Posers, Pretenders and Wannabes!

I have been listening to rock for the longest time, I’m speaking Ten years! Some of you were probably dealing with identity crises around then, while some of you were  probably learning to wipe their noses.  I f they actually gave out accolades for loyalty to music, I’d probably be bagging more awards than Mayweather. But as it stands, there are really no rockers in this vast waste land that we call country. People have been sucked by the need to stay relevant, they  listen to genres like hip hop (which is music  full of crap anyway) and other genres that no one would care to write on an article anyway.

So why the bile? No one supports rock music in this country! I remember this time that I attended a gig at club Ichonic on Ngong race course. There was among bands like Murfy’s Flaw,Dove Slimme, K-street Avengers, Void Of belonging a band from South Africa, Boargazm. The event which I had expected attract more than a several thousand guys was deserted. Only a handful of guys showed up. But for those that managed to come, we all had an awesome  night of headbanging, moshing and howling to the guitar riffs and guttural howls.

The Kenyan bands were just too good. It was however the South African band, Boargazm  that carried the day. They gave a good deal of thrashcore to the eager crowd. When all was said and done, We went home happy that at last, we had attended to our needs and met a south African  band. You  should quit calling yourself a rocker and join the bandwagon of mainstream music.

Rock and all its related genres is  not for the petty, short-winded and flat chested wannabes (who I called posers earlier) who have no idea beyond Ed sheeran and Taylor swift. Rock is for the intellectuals, people who have a life, It is not for the  disturbed (like most of you have learn to view it ) Its for the few chosen folk who have a soft spot in their chests for true music.

Maybe you should start listening to Rock today: I recommend:

ParkingLotGrass- Kenya, the have awesome songs by the way.

Dove slimme- You are not living if you are not listening to this Kenyan bands.

Murfys Flaw : They sound like something straight from an Alien ship! Uber cool

Skillet,Lacuna Coil, Sirenia, Breaking Benjamin, Arctic Monkeys.. Etcetera etcetera.

Here is a Video from Dove Slimme that you might want to check out.

The lady Who Was Charged For Failing To Pay 230k Intercontinental Bill Resurfaces To Talk To Ghafla! Find Out What She Told Us

She made headline when she appeared in court charged for failing to pay Kes 230,000 Valentine’s bill. But the 27-year Laura Oyier has come out to shed light on her much publicized ordeal.

Laura was the object of ridicule the moment her story went viral in the country. She rose from a nobody to a ‘celebrity’ within a matter of hours.

After trailing her for a while, Ghafla! finally caught up with the infamous Laura Oyier. The lady was willing to give team Ghafla! an insight into her nightmare at the Intercontinental hotel.

Laura turned out to be a drama queen. Apart from her ‘cooked’ American accent, the lady was also good at playing cat and mouse with the questions Ghafla! threw at her.

Asked whether she deliberately failed to pay her bill in order to cause a scene and eventually make headlines, she was quick to refuse saying that was a crazy assumption.

“There is no way in a million years I could have made that happen on purpose and I am very shocked you actually thought about that.” Laura exclaimed.

The lady COMPLETELY declined to reveal whether she was duped by a man into going to Intercontinental in the pretext that he (the man) would pay her bill. (But failing to make an appearance.)

Laura kept on beating around the bush with questions Ghafla! asked her. She however answered the few she liked.

Check out the interview Ghafla! had with her in the video below:

Avril Welcomes Rich Mavoko To Kenya After Relocation

Early today the Tanzanian heartthrob signed for the Kaka Empire team and since the news broke out support has been pouring for the talented singer whose voice resembles that of established singer Diamond Platinumz.

Rich Mavoko has signed with Kenyan rapper Kaka Sungura’s team and it seems he has followed in the footsteps of fellow Tanzanian Hussein Machozi who spends most of his time in Kenya and records most of his songs from the country.

Rich Mavoko’s relationship with King Kaka can only be described as a good one after the two went ahead to record a song together a few weeks ago.

And among those who have taken it upon themselves to welcome Rich Mavoko is Kenyan songstress Avril Nyambura who is overjoyed by the prospect of working with the Tanzanian.

Avril is herself signed to the King Kaka Empire.

Here is the message the singer who recently collaborated with another Tanzanian singer, Ommy Dimpoz, sent to Rich Mavoko:

“We Were Not Fired from K24!” Belinda Obura and Tom Mboya Finally Speak Out After The Axe

K24 has fired two of its illustrious news anchors, a source exclusively revealed to Ghafla yesterday. The person who spoke on the condition of anonymity divulged to us that the two could not deliver and that is why they were booted off the Uhuru Kenyatta owned TV Station.

This came as a shock to many as the two, had gained a pleasant reputation as the best in the game, explaining why they were poached by K24 in the first place.

EXCLUSIVE: Belinda Obura And Tom Mboya Chased Away From K24

After trying to reach out for a comment yesterday to no avail, a publicist of the two Dan Obura from a reputable PR company finally revealed to us why the two are no longer at K24. He claims that the two resigned and they were not fired. But he declined to divulge reasons as to why the two left the station.

Good News To You All That Have Bought Startimes, Go Tv and DSTV Decoders!!

The future did look bleak for the lot of us that had fallen prey to the decrees and wants of the states such that we went ahead and bought decoders in anticipation of the looming apocalypse. The apocalypse came in anyway. For two weeks we had to contend with a one of its kind, a Media blackout whose implications will probably resound for decades. But you can all smile now!

The media houses are now back from the ego trip. This comes after serious deliberations between the 3 media houses and DSTV,Zuku, Star times, and GO Tv. It was agreed by the parties  that the subscribers who have the said decoders will be able to watch the channels for free, probably until something else comes up. Isn’t that good news now? Happy?

Octopizzo And Uhuru Kenyatta Share This Passion

We know him as a brilliant rapper, a bighearted philanthropist and a tenacious entrepreneur and Octo is putting his best foot forward for a worthy cause.

He has joined the president in the fight against unbridled poaching.
Yesterday, Uhuru Kenyatta set 15 tonnes of petrol soaked elephant tusks at a World Wildlife Day event in a bid to deter poaching.

In his speech before he set the tusks ablaze, Uhuru said “Many of these tusks belonged to elephants which were wantonly slaughtered by criminals. We want future generations of Kenyans, Africans and the entire world to experience the majesty and beauty of these magnificent beasts. Poachers and their enablers will not have the last word.”

Octo on his part said that :

Paula_and_Octo.jpg

Illegal killings of elephants are being linked to organized crime and the funding of armed militia groups. Many consumers in Asia do not realize that by buying ivory, they are playing a role in the illegal wildlife trade and its serious consequences. Well, my daughter really loves wildlife. And everytime she draws an Elephant I want to tell her there probably won’t any by the time… she’s my age. That’s kinda hard to deal with.(this are Exclusively my thoughts )
