There are many things the head of state will be remembered for when his term expires. Among the things he is fond of is breaking the norm that was associated with his predecessors.

On Thursday last week, the country witnessed the bloodiest terrorist attack since the onset of the new millennium. The country lost 148 people within a snap of the finger during the Garissa University College siege.

Many people including international media had asked why the president wasn’t condoling with the bereaved families following the grisly attack.

But the Commander in Chief hadn’t turned his back on the 148 victims. No, not at all! As a matter of fact, he was thinking about them all the while.

Uhuru was busy penning condolence messages to each of the families of the victims of the Garissa University College terrorist attack. Yes! The president has personally written 130 letters (out of 148 victims, 130 bodies have so far been identified) to the families that lost their kin.

He expressed his regret for the loss of their loved ones and asked them to accept his condolences and that of the entire country. He also promised to increase efforts to contain the threat of terrorism facing the nation.

This is the first time a Kenyan President has personally written to victims of a terror attack. The letters will be delivered to the families by a senior government official.

When Nancy Kacungira first flew into the country from her native Uganda to work with KTN, very few of us really knew who she was. Not until she made an instant impact at KTN that we started speaking about.

The other day Ghafla Kenya did an article on the TV sirens who have made a difference on our screens but are not given the hype they deserve (read: here) and Nancy was among them.

The TV siren has, however, came out to reveal some of the things that we probably do not know.

Nancy had her elder sister Seanice Kacungira working with radio in Kenya before she left for her native Uganda and the KTN prime time news anchor says she drew her inspiration from the sisters who would help her when she was stuck.

Nancy reveals that after her undergraduate degree where she graduated with a first class from Makerere University, she worked for radio for a while and later joined Leeds University in the United Kingdom for her masters.

It was after Leeds that she got exposed and landed a job with KTN where she has incredibly excelled.

Kacungira is an entrepreneur with investments in Uganda which she runs alongside her elder sister.

She says that her drive is the desire to be better each day and that she always blocks haters and people with negative comments that are meant to break her down. She says that she, however, prefers positive criticism because she believes it helps to build her.

Her worst moment? Nancy says that there was a time when tabloids ran stories that she had got engaged and married privately to a rich tycoon in Uganda. She says that this broke her down and she needed courage to convince her family that she is not married.

Be warned, the police won’t leave any stone unturned in their mission to smoke out anyone with links to Al Shabaab. Egerton University student was arrested for propagating terror threats on social media.

Robert Mungai Kariuki is the latest person netted by the police for his activities on social media. Many thought social networking platforms were the safest place to vomit whatever they feel about but now it seems security organs have an eagle’s eye over there too.

Mungai was said to be the mastermind of the social media messages spreading Al Shabaab’s shenanigans. He posted the messages on a Facebook group called ‘Egerton Campus Life’.

The message read; “We are not joking and if you think we are, wait for us. Garissa is nothing compared to what we will do at Egerton University, Allah is to be worship. We have spies and maps of the whole Egerton.”

Mungai is said to have fled from Egerton after posting his message. The police had placed a Kes 2 million bounty on his head.

Nakuru County Police Commander, John Koki Mwanga, confirmed Mungai’s arrest saying he was taken to Njoro Police Station for questioning.

Details of his arrest are still scanty, it’s still not known whether the police will gather enough evidence to charge him in a court of law.

For the second time ever since they knew how to use twitter, Larry Madowo and Dennis Itumbi are involved in a bitter exchange of words on twitter thanks to the Garissa massacre and the two years since the Jubilee government took power.

The NTV host and the Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President are at logger heads after the former questioned the move by the government which the latter works for to celebrate its two years in office despite 147 Kenyans lying dead thanks to lack of enough security in the country.

Kenyans on twitter quickly came up with the hash tag #2YearsofHopelessness to criticize the government amid massive insecurity in the country. The hash tag was quickly trending before Itumbi came up with his own, #2YearsofSuccess, and pushed it all night long to trend as he defended his employers.

This greatly angered Larry who launched an attack on Itumbi, telling him off directly and reminding him that many Kenyans were dead and therefore there was nothing to celebrate about.

Itumbi, clearly rattled, responded telling off Larry and reminding him that the government was dealing with so many things at the same time and not just the Garissa attack itself.

KOT, as usual, joined the train and aired their views as the two heavyweights took to the ring to show their skill.

It’s been a week since the horrific Garissa that claimed 147 lives, most of them being students. Kenyan all over the globe have been united in mourning over this devastating loss and even international celebrities have also grieved with Kenya.

Such as Reprudencia N. Sonkey commonly known as Dencia, a Cameroonian-Nigerian singer.Dencia however gained notoriety from her excessive bleaching and her bleach cream ‘Whitenicious’ .

This is what she wrote regarding teh Garissa issue:

“The 1st thing my Teacher told me on Thursday morning when she walked into my house at 11AM was “Dencia did you hear about the shooting in Kenya” she pulled it on her phone and showed me.I was so hurt I was lost of words.Why jesus,why? My heart goes out to all the victims and families of the innocent students who lost their lives in this selfish and gruesome act. What is happening to my beloved continent?where did some parents go wrong with the upbringing of their sons and daughters that has turned them into heartless murderers? Why are we killing each other? When did my peaceful motherland become a place where you can’t feel safe? Where do we go from here? How do we console all these parents? Most people have said the media isn’t saying anything compared to the Charlie hebdo massacre, when the top people in the media like the Kenyan celebrities abroad are not saying anything,(more Africans raised their voice about the Charlie hebdo massacre than French people) when we are not standing out in numbers and screaming out loud, no one is listening, no one is helping, unlike us, the French people came out in numbers and spoke, their celebrities spoke, their politicians spoke. We need to speak up!!then again the media coverage isn’t helping us is it? The chibok girls are still missing, Boko haram is still very much active and I can go on and on. We need to stop whatever this is about, we need to stop the hate, we need to stop hating one another, we need to stop killing one another. This comment was viewed as Dencia’s attempt to shade Lupita by one of Dencia’s fans, since Dencia is known for the fights she picks with Lupita. This was Dencia’s response to the accusation:

 “Can we all stop this Lupita nonsense? Is she the only Kenyan? Is she the only Kenyan celebrity matter of fact has she said something hope she has. As quick as she was to condemn Whitenicious she should be holding a press conference about it.i am too direct to throw shade.”

 

What a week it has been! There have been so many tirades since this month began, just wondering how the situation will be mid-month if these diatribes keep on coming.

While some celebrities were tearing at each other for sheer fan, Bahati and Jacque Maribe meant business with their rant.

There have been many rumors circulating around about Jacque Maribe. Top of the list is that she once had chemistry with Eric Omondi then she dumped him for greener pastures in form of Dennis Itumbi.

Propagators of the grapevine used photographic evidence to solidify their assertion and make any doubting Thomas’s dance to their tune.

All this while, Jacque didn’t confirm or deny anything, till now. The Citizen Political Affairs Reporter has however hit back at the rumor-mongers busy dirtifying her name.

She warned them to keep off her business since they didn’t know a thing about her. Jacque also revealed she was tired of all the made-up stories about her.

Actress Celina of Mother-in-law has been on our screens for quite some time now where she has excelled so well in her role as Charlie’s wife.

Celina has also landed many deals with big companies where she advertises their products such the toilet cleaning agent Hapic.

Celina is today celebrating her TV husband who she has known for more than 8 years.

In a pots in one of her social media accounts, Celina has jumped to the defense of Patrick Oketch famously known as Charlie who acts as her husband in the Mother-in-law show.

Charlie has been lately spotted on the show looking drunk almost all the time and it seems fans have started developing this perception that he is a drunkard.

Celina has, however, refuted this and says that Charlie has never touched an alcoholic drink in his life. She goes on to say how she has always enjoyed working with him in the show and other acting-related stuff.

Celina also reveals that Charlie is the scriptwriter for the Mother-in-law show.
