Kidero’s grass has been the butt end of odd jokes after it refused to grow despite the efforts by the city council to water and pamper it ahead of the potus visit last weekend. It reminds me strangely of a poem by Jonathan Kariara: For Grass Will Grow.  A profound little poem of hope. But that is besides the point, Kidero’s Grass is trending again on twitter.. 

 Now it turns out that the grass and part of the flowers on the roadside had been hired to beautify the city. Today, social media was lit with a majority  tweeting about how the flowers that had been used were being returned to the owners who had hired  them to the city council.

Seems the just concluded Global Entrepreneurship Summit that happened last week has come with its goodies. Apart from seeing US President Barack Obama making a maiden visit to Kenya to officially open the summit, so many investors are on a plan to put up businesses in Kenya.

And now Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has jetted into the country for the worldwide launch of Windows 10 Operating System.

Nairobi is among the 13 cities globally picked for the launch of the OS which is thought to be the biggest party in the organization’s history.

Satya is already enjoying every opportunity the Capital is giving and has said through some of his posts:

Windows 10 will be available on tablets and Personal Computers in 190 countries although the free update is only available for windows 7 or windows 8.1.

 

Was or wasn’t he neglected? That’s the question that is tearing the likes of Nairobi Senator and one Robert Alai apart.

It’s widely believed that KBC stubbed Mzee Ojwang on the back shoving him right into a pit engulfed with poverty.

But one Robert Alai begs to differ with this perspective. The controversial blogger thinks the veteran comedian frittered away his cash in a popular city brothel.

Mike Sonko however differs with Alai’s assertion. Yesterday while addressing the audience at Nyayo stadium, the flamboyant lawmaker lambasted KBC for the ordeals that befell the fallen actor.

So who is really telling the truth? Alai has the confession of former Vioja Mahakamani magistrate, Lucy Wangui, who admitted in a video Vioja and Vitimbi crew lived a good life.

On the other hand, Mzee Ojwang, before he died blamed KBC for his woes. Sonko uses that to lynch the national broadcaster.

Ask me and I will say it doesn’t matter, Mzee Ojwang is gone already. Just let him rest in peace, at least for the sake of his family, folks should just stop talking about the deceased because now it’s not torturing him, his family is the victim here.

 

It seems this week NTV’s Larry Madowo’s garden has completely failed to support the production of chills. And so the celebrated TV personality has none.

Has he been pushed to the limit? Well, it seems so. The Trend host has been responding rudely to some of his critics, giving them answers that leave social media roaring.

It all started with business magnet Chris Kirubi. DJ CK had blasted Kenyan journalists during the Obama visit by claiming that they are not considered for interviews because they have no right questions to ask.

Larry indirectly responded to him and other critics through his article on Daily Nation, reminding him that having a Twitter account does not qualify you to be an experienced rights activist.

Before the dust settled, the TV host has stepped heavily on one of his fans who purposed to criticize him and the media in general for not noticing that Microsoft CEO is in the country.

And that is when Larry went gaga!

The fan said:

 

“Even Larry Madowo hasn’t tweeted anything about the Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella being in Kenya to launch Windows 10 , Kenyan media..SMH.”

 

And Larry responded, saying:

“I’m interviewing him shortly. But you’re obviously better at my job than I am, so go on”.

But why would Obama, a Kenyan-American President decline to take the precious gifts given to him from his ancestral land?

Even before you start to think Potus was looking down on us, he was only following protocol, you know Americans being paranoid with matters security.

Well, the title of Nobility Clause in Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution, restricts members of the government from receiving gifts from foreign states without the consent of the United States Congress.

This came during the Cold War era where the US and the Soviet Union were engaged in all manner of dirty games. Gifts were implanted with bugs to listen to secret conversations between either sides.

To curb leakages, the US prohibited members of its government from receiving gifts from foreign governments.

President Kenyatta had given Obama two portraits done by pencil artist Collins Okello and a sculpture of an elephant which were said to be worth Kes 305, 272 ($3000).

The Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President, Dennis Itumbi, told Taifa Leo the process of channeling the gifts through the respective department had already started.

Mzee Ojwang’s funeral brought together a conglomerate of actors drawn from all over the country to celebrate the life of one of the most iconic actors in Kenyan history, Mzee Ojwang. 

 Jackline Nyaminde, best  known as Wilbroda  read out a heartrending tribute to the late mzee on behalf of the Papa Shirandula cast. In attendance was Fatuma, Juma Anderson and others. It was Njoroge who got everyone’s attention though. He was a little too tipsy for the occasion, as if coming late was not bad enough. 

His choice of outfit? A pair of multicolored pants matched with an equally odd tee-shirt and sinister looking glasses to complete the look- All other actors mind you, were decently dressed in black or whatever. 

But, maybe he needed one to steel his nerves, funerals can be nerve wracking you know. 

Behind the tent, away from where mzee Ojwang lay, lifeless in a brown pall Njoroge was involved in a tussle with a female actress, acting all drunk and crazy.

These men of cloth never seem to lose their want of tact, they have for ages bombarded us with creative and not- so creative antics of how how they achieve their goals of duping or coercing the faithful into making offering to the church, year in year out. Lets face it, ladies and gentlemen, the oldest trick in the book is being different. But their kind of different borders on the crazy and weird.. 

 On Monday, we received news that pastor Ng’ang’a has run down a motorist on his way from Naivasha, it was harrowing to watch the mangled remains of his  range rover, not to mention the victim’s car which had been pounded to smithereens. 

Weeks before this, a pastor was forcing congregants to eat live snakes in order to witness miracles.. And you thought it couldn’t get any worse ..

The songstress claims that a thug has promised to use acid as retributive measure if she does not respond to his advances and engage in phone sex with her.

A claim that has caused panic among her fans who are urging her to report the case to the police, but Nyota Ndogo says that “Polisi wanaendelea na uchunguzi.but hawachi kupiga simu“

 

Senator Mike Sonko sat pensively at the Nyayo National stadium as he paid his last respects to the late Mzee Ojwang.

Even though he came a bit late, he was, at least, the only politician who managed to attend the burial ceremony of a man who wowed many Kenyans with his acting skills which spanned 40 years.

And before he stood up to eulogize Mzee  Ojwang, we managed to capture his expensive gold rings on his fingers.

And believe it every ring has a letter on it. All the five rings on his five fingers read SONKO. And it is pure gold.

Mzee Ojwang has been laid to rest today, two weeks after succumbing to Pneumonia. He is arguably the most celebrated veteran comedian Kenya boasted off, having pioneered comedy in Kenya almost 40 years ago.

The world knows Mzee Ojwang through his incredible role in Vitimbi where he was the main character alongside his wife Mama Kayai.

And as a sign of respect for the fallen Kenyan legend, so many celebrities turned up at the Nyayo National Stadium where his burial ceremony was being held to give him a befitting send off.

Among those present were Senator Mike Sonko, Sports Minister Hassan Wario, Churchill, comedians, media personalities, thespians and artistes from all walks of life.

Much has been said about Vitimbi crew and how they were treated after serving the national broadcaster, KBC, for more than 40 years.

The blame on the government intensified when the late Mzee Ojwang fell ill before his death which came as a result of pneumonia.

And as Mzee Ojwang is being laid to rest today, Senator Mike Sonko has come out to clear the air on who is to blame for the plight of the deceased and his colleagues.

Speaking at Nyayo National stadium where a funeral service for the late Mzee Ojwang is being held, Sonko said that KBC is to blame for how it treated its employees.

The Senator said that the national government did its part and was at hand to offset the bills accrued when Mzee Ojwang fell ill and even after he passed on.

Funny enough, even KBC was nowhere to cover the ceremony live. Only KTN was at hand to cover the ceremony.

Mzee Ojwang will be laid to rest later today at the Langata cemetery.

The red carpet event will be held on 8th August, at Pride Inn Westlands. This glamorous event will see 18 finalists battle for three crowns i.e  Miss Kenya Earth, Miss Kenya Grand International and Miss Kenya International who will work together across the many issues as may be found relevant and congruent to the contest. The winners will later compete in the world finals in Australia.

The girls were selected early June and have been taken through thorough training making them set for the finals. Tony Chirah, the product manager for Miss Kenya says that the beauty pageant surpasses the superficial search for a beautiful girl and goes beyond to find a young lady that is empathetic and  informed “ we are looking for  young leaders who are conscious about the environment we live in, seeks social good and promotes values and good living in general among peoples of the region and the world around.”

Yesterday, the dreaded General Service Unit (GSU) paid Mathare residents an impromptu visit to assess how a section of them were drinking themselves silly.

You all know GSU are a bunch of demented ninjas who derive pleasure from inflicting misery in the lives of ordinary citizen, right? Their visit to Mathere wouldn’t end without an eyesore.

The officers invaded Mathere’s drinking dens to rid the informal settlement of illicit brew which has turned out to be a chronic disease for citizen at the bottom of the hierarchy.

But GSU officers were put on the spot during their crackdown for inflicting strange punishments to those who crossed their path.

Mathare residents were ordered to do press-ups on roads, others were asked to carry their bicycles. Why the GSU thought of those punishments only the good lord knows.

About a week after Jolene gave birth to a fine-looking baby girl, the acting community has received yet another bundle of joy.

Derrick Asseto who is often referred to as the Kenyan Djimon Hounsou thanks to his uncanny resemblance to the Hollywood actor, welcomed a baby girl today. The proud father took to social media to share photos of the tiny tot and he could not help but express the joy of his wife giving birth to his late mum

Mzee Ojwang’s body is being ferried across Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) to give fans the last chance to bid him final goodbye.

Kenyans are celebrating the life of MzeeOjwang in style! Today when his entourage made its way into the CBD from Kenya National Theatre, enchanted mourners were vigorously shaking legs and for a moment one would confuse the scene to a wedding carnival.

Mzee’s entourage entered the CBD through Moi Avenue making an impromptu stopover at Archives where the likes of Odiek, Mama Kayai, Nyasuguta and other mourners, alighted from their vehicles to dance in the middle of the road.

A large portrait of Mzee was being carried as mourners danced in a circle. The dance lasted for approximately 10 minutes before proceeding to Nyayo Stadium.

Huddah would throw a party

Vera’s nemesis Huddah would have every reason to celebrate after nature eliminates the competition.
