Two students have been reportedly killed and 11 others badly injured after a fire broke out in one of the dormitories at Stephjoy Boys’ High School in Kiambu this morning.

According to a report by Citizen TV, the fire is believed to have been started by students in one of the dormitories.

The fire started at around 1 am.

Stephjoy Girls, a sister school was in the news recently when 5 of its students disappeared without a trace only to resurface at Royal Media Services offices after Citizen TV had aired their story.

Some things come our way to help us and get us out of those unprecedented tricky situations that we sometimes find ourselves in. Little do we envisage any danger that accompanies them until when it happens.

A good example is a powerbank. Majority of the gadgets we use do not keep power for quite some time. So powerbanks are a perfect option for this tragedy that manufacturers have failed to address or have deliberately decided to ignore for obvious reasons.

But wait, have you ever imagined carrying fire or danger in your pockets? Well, powerbanks are one of the dangers sold to us to make things easier and cheaper for us.

A man is nursing burns on one of his thighs after a powerbank he was carrying in his pockets exploded, igniting fire that ate away his trousers and part of his skin.

Photos doing round social media show charred trousers with an exploded powerbank, indicating how the owner escaped danger by a whisker.

The victim said:

“I am still in shock. I was literally set alight and on fire by my powerbank in my pocket. I said it in the morning… I am with God and his favour. Could have been worse but luckily I escaped with a minor burn on my thigh. Guys be careful with these powerbanks for you cellphones. They literally catch fire.”

We have heard before that these things happen but seldom do we have a chance to lay our eyes on them. So today we can ascertain that indeed a powerbank and/or any other electronic gadget is hell amongst us.

But do we have a choice/an option/a remedy (delete as appropriate)?

Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero seems to have zero tolerance for his critics, cross him and you will have yourself to blame!

There was Kakamege Senator, Bonny Khalwale, who claimed Nairobi sheriff had hired goons to frustrate him when he implicated him to the downfall of Mumias Sugar Company.

Now it’s one Robert Alai who is claiming the embattled Governor is baying for his blood. Reason being, he crossed his path.

We all know Alai likes poking his nose into other people’s businesses, a thing which has earned him admiration and hatred almost on an equal measure.

The whistleblower claims Kidero is intimidating him. Remember that incident where Alai was attacked by unknown people some two or so weeks ago? He claims that was also engineered by the Nairobi Governor.

So what is the genesis of Kidero’s latest threat to Alai? The blogger say it’s because he criticized him for turning a blind eye on Gor Mahia.

Alai was however not shaken by Kidero’s mafia-like warning, he says he has seen worse thugs, he even dared him to resign if he couldn’t stomach criticisms.

“You either listen to critics or resign and be the governor of your house.” Alai turned the heat on Kidero.

As if that’s not enough, the controversial blogger passionately begged Kidero to send him all the thugs he has in store.
