Most parts of Nairobi are made of slums. And majority of Nairobi residents live in these deplorable conditions. And by the way Nairobi has one of the largest slums in Africa. I mean Kibera slums.

These conditions sometimes prompt us to believe that it is only our capital that has slums across the continental. I personally used to believe so until when I saw this report, The Chamwada Report, compiled by Alex Chamwada.

The report revealed the deplorable conditions some residents of Lagos, Nigeria are living in. I mean Africa is synonymous with slums.

In Lagos, there is a very big slum called Amukoko. It is not different from what we see here in Nairobi. And if at all there is any difference, then it is a very minimal one.

Here, one Kenyan priest, Father Emmanuel Sikuku Likoko is doing everything to better the lives of the residents who are living in great abjection.

They made headlines not because they brought heaven to earth but because they gave very touchy accounts on live TV interviews. Their accounts, as it turned out, made some of the best sound bites ever witnessed in this country. And so despite one of them airing her plight in a very appealing manner, they always pop up because of what they did some year ago.

First there was Jane Anyango Adika, famously known as Mama Sirikali Tafadhali. She made headlines with her plea to the government whenever floods hit the Nyando planes where she hails from.

Then there came Joseph Mburu who would later be nicknamed Jose the Witnesser. He is famously remembered for his catchy phrase Ni Kama Vindeo Ni Kama Ndrama which he gave while explaining an incident that had occurred.

And as the two were sinking into oblivion, it is rumoured that the country’s biggest telecommunications company Safaricom has landed deals with the two.

The deals will see the two walk away with full pockets as they will be used in Safaricom adverts  for the Stori Ibamabe na Storo bonus campaign.

Cold-hearted crop of Kenyans have decided to throw Larry and Lupita back in the limelight for their own selfish gains!

Larry Madowo is accustomed and almost immune to hatred, but I don’t know how the other victim, the Hollywood actress, will react to this latest mischief.

So what happened is that photoshoppers decided to make a Larry Madowo out of a Lupita Nyong’o. Does it make sense to you?

Well, photoshoppers decided to mess with the photo of the Oscar award winning actress in which she posed on the cover of Dejour magazine.

They cropped out her face then replaced it with that one of the celebrated NTV anchor. The result was what made Kenyans make fun of Larry all night long.

The manipulated image depicted a Larry Madowo lady who had just escaped from the jaws of poverty to land a first photo shoot as a wannabe model.

The queen of socialites has connections that spans over to royalty. She attended a royal wedding and made sure everybody knew about it.

It has been a while since the three leading socialites, Vera Sidika, Huddah Monroe and Corazon Kwamboka, flew to Nigeria for pleasure-seeking missions.

It seems their clients in Dubai, France and USA have been keeping them busy enough to forget about the land of Oga.

But circumstances have forced the bleached socialite to make her way to West Africa again. This time round it was a royal wedding to made Vera go to Nigeria.

Even though she acknowledges wedding isn’t her thing (until the royal wedding, she hasn’t attended one in a decade), she had to just make an appearance since it was royal couple walking down the aisle.

It seems she couldn’t turn down invitation from a high-value client. And also she dressed like a lady with moral!

Kenyan socialites are very notorious with get-crashing on major events where foreign celebrities are either gracing or performing. They would do anything to attract the attention of the celebrity and probably get that maiden chance to share a drink with them as they twist their curvaceous selves all in the name of triggering something in them.

This is not something new and unique amongst us. We have seen it happen before and some celebrities have ended losing their valuables to the gold diggers whose aim is to siphon something from them.

However, a notorious Kenyan socialite had a weekend to forget when her nocturnal-like activities terribly backfired, eating her being up and leaving her with much agony and embarrassment.

The socialite whom we have opted to leave anonymous because of the agony she suffered is said to have received a token beating by bouncers of the artiste who was performing in one of the plush entertainment places in the city when she tried to force her way to the VVIP area where the artiste was refreshing before getting to the stage.

Her mistake was she thought she is too famous to be denied entry into the VVIP area. However, as things turned out, these bodyguards who flew with the artiste into the country seemed to know nothing about the Kenyan socialite.

She would later be dragged out of the place by her female friends after a curious crowd started milling around to have a glimpse of who was being beaten like a stray dog.

Ghafla! Kenya tried to contact the socialite early today to know how she is fairing on after the ordeal but seems her phone has been off all day long.

Some call him ‘Number 8’s finest’ others call him the ‘Captain Of Team Tergat’ , whatever you may refer to him as, one thing is for sure Octo is way ahead of his peers.

They have had a push and pull kind of game with other rappers, but Octopizzo has proven that he rules them all with his new track featuring August Alsina.

Kidero-Alai’s brawl is taking a whole different twist altogether. Latest claim suggests the two were drinking from the same bowl.

If the evidence on Joseph Ogidi’s hand is anything to go by, then Alai is just another criminal masquerading as a cyber-activist.

The Radio Jambo presenter has come out with evidence that clearly shows one Robert Alai to be a qualified racketeer.

Gidi Gidi revealed a text conversation of what he believes to be a chat been Governor Evans Kidero and the controversial blogger.

The texts show Alai begging Kidero to scratch his back, it seems the governor ‘employed’ Alai to cover his dirty tracks. And they somehow crossed paths.

One text shows Alai bitterly protecting against the amount the Nairobi sheriff paid him after he helped him on the altercation he had with Rachel Shebesh.

According to the text, Kidero underpaid Alai, he allegedly paid him Kes 50,000 which according to Alai was loose change.

Kenyans on Twitter, famously referred to as KOT have never disappointed us. In fact, it is honest to admit that they are fodder for most of media channels in the country. Blogs harvest some of the most exciting stories from KOT. So? Here is another one, aye!

Well, as you probably know by now, all roads last weekend led to the Carnivore for the MAMA’s after party. This was basically a meet and greet between the fans, entertainment heavy weights and the artists who were nominated for the MAMA’s awards that went down in South Africa some weeks back.

Being MTV, you definitely know it’s going to be massive so it was all sassy and glamorous from the entrance. From the gorgeous models who ushered you in to the layout which included red carpet treatment and a photo booth.

Since I was looking fresh and so did my girlfriend, I took a few photos just to steal the show and when I was struggling to get some attention for the cameras, I stumbled upon Henry Waswa who was creating quite the buzz. Actually all the camera guys wanted a piece of him.

After the pleasantries, I took a step back and let him have his moment. It made perfect sense considering the fellow came in an entourage of 5 customized landcrusier vx’s which body guards left right and centre. I mean, I think he might be after Sonko’s throne…

I however posed for one photo with Jalango who was all white from the jacket to the shoes and walked right in. I’m telling you the service and the reception was amazing; MTV style I guess. I was escorted to the VIP section by these fine lass who was all polite safely into the hands of who was to be the mixologist for the night. It looked like he was born ready to serve me my favourite poison.

In this case an absolute vodka cocktail was in order and again there was Henry Waswa. He was also in for a cocktail and I suggested the absolute beat. Before I could even start explaining what it contained, there was an endless bevy of girls in tow looking to hang with him. Funny enough, he turned all of them down and as I came to find out later, he’s a married man with two gorgeous daughters so tall and sexy model like lasses was strictly out of bounds.

I took a sit and got to enjoy my drink while admiring the sound engineering and the décor which was perfectly laid out. Soon enough Laura Walubengo now M net and formerly Radio Africa walked in together with crew and so did Amos and Josh.

The attention however seemed to be Henry Waswa. I got curious and thus I decided to approach him and ask who exactly he was. At first his security prevented me but considering I had recommended just the right cocktail, he was more than willing to give me a hearing.

Our conservation which was of course was severely interrupted by the very many lasses wanting to join our table ranged from his business to his roots which I must say were very humbling. He’s exactly the definite story of rags to riches having being born from a poor background only to rise and become one of the most promising men in Western Kenya.

Henry Waswa who is currently 28 has managed to amass quite a lot of wealth for himself in various sectors which include real estate, club business and also car hire. He’s story was quite interesting it was even hard to tell the time passing by.

King Kaka was already on stage signifying the start of performances. And talking of celebs, quite a myriad had already flocked the VIP from the likes of Nameless and Wahu, Nick Mutuma and ex girlfriend Shigadi- I have a feeling they are back together by the way and also Elani.

Kansoul was next on stage wooing the crowd with their massive hits and the performance of the night which was from the King of East Africa Diamond Platnumz. He pulled one hell of a performance and it makes sense why he won best performing artiste in the recently concluded MAMA’s awards.

Our very own Sauti Sol also killed it driving the ladies in the crowd into a frenzy especially Edith Kimani who was swinging and whining to the rhythm of the beat. I could have also sworn I saw Mzazi Willy Tuva secretly dancing to Nishike.

And as the guests kept coming in so were the drinks. Cocktails and more cocktails with all manner of flashy names, but not flashy than the outfit Wahu was rocking that night. Daamn that woman can gerrit……

All in all it was a great event but the highlight of the event had to be Henry Waswa. Trust me power is good.

If you get squeamish or wretch horridly in the face of some types of food, then do not proceed, but if you do not get grossed out easily then carry on reading.

But they did not stop there; they extended their ‘courtesy’ to Uganda where they viciously roasted the 2014 Miss Uganda.

Worrying trends of boys attacking girls’ schools at night are on the rise. After some boys from a school in the Rift sneaked into a girls’ school at night to have s3x with the girls, another worrying story has emerged from Elgeyo-Makakwet County.

12 boys from St. Patrick’s Iten Boys’ High School are in police custody after they stormed the nearby Sing’ore Girls at night to rape the sleeping girls.

The number of the boys who sneaked into the girls school is believed to be around 40, reports the Nation.

12 of the 40 were arrested as they fled after the girls raised alarm over the raid. Some have even been admitted after they were injured as they fled through the fences of the school.

Police say the boys were mistaken for gangsters after the girls raised alarm on strange people in their dormitory.

Police arrested some as they were on their way back to their school which is 6 kilometres away. The girls’ school guards also arrested quite a number and handed them to the police.

According to some of the arrested students, the raid is part of the culture that has been going on since the 1980s where the boys invade the girls’ school during the cold season to be ’kept warm’.

The boys are expected in court once investigations are done.

Last Friday on my latest episode of Etemesi’s Tales, I wrote a fictional short story about how a young prostitute in Malindi got involved in a threesome with a mzungu and his voyeuristic wife. A day later, nation media columnist Njoki Chege published a story warning Kenyan ladies against dating mzungus.

Now white people who are married to Kenyan ladies have caught more feelings than A Mexican telenovela character who has just been dumped. Which is understandable

Personally I have no problem with white men dating Kenyan women. After all the women who rush to mzungus are mostly gold diggers, so good riddance to them anyway. I also know for a fact that most mzungu tourists that camp in Malindi and Mombasa are notorious pervs.

A few of them are genuine anyway. The whole lot isn’t corrupt. So in the sprit of harmony, I caught up with a mzungu friend who lives in Karen and also happens to be addicted to Kenyan women.

He gave me a couple of interesting reasons why white men love Kenyan women

#1 Appreciative not entitled

Kenyan women treat white men like kings. No wonder they would rather date a broke white man than a rich black man. They visualize white men as superior beings. Mzungus love Kenyan women because they are appreciative of gifts, and an affluent lifestyle that the white man’s money may be affording them. They say their own women tend to have a sense of entitlement… White women feel that the gifts and treats are a right and not a favor. Hence they don’t even bother ‘paying back in kind.’

#2 A little attitude is healthy

My mzungu friend also told me that white men who have dated our women say they like the attitude of the Kenyan woman. That it somehow spices up the relationship. They like how Kenyan women are committed to their man and take the relationship seriously. They also say that the attitude is someone a turn on…men! Uuuummm……really? How come we never see this trait?

#3 Beautiful Dark Skin Complexion

The number one compliment that white men give Kenyan women in general, is that they have a nice dark smooth skin complexion. They say that black people don’t have varicose veins and redness showing. They say our skin complexion looks healthy and that the African look on a woman is a huge turn on.

#4 The “Flava” of a Kenyan Sista

Apparently, white men like the way a black woman tastes. I haven’t been fortunate enough to taste a white woman so I can’t really tell the difference. But I will say this. I read a book that talked about the Melanin of black people’s skin, that is has a sweet almost sugary aroma, so if it actually does taste sweet well that makes sense.

#5 “Sexy body Gal…”

Many Caucasian men have told me before that they liked Kenyan women because they are curvaceous and have a nice booty. Ok, I agree that our sisters have great bodies. But I have seen old mzungu men groping Kenyan ladies who had never at all. These ladies end up looking like the walking sticks of the men

# 6 Kenyan women Know How to keep house

I was also told that white men like Kenyan women because they know how to keep house and look after their men. Well is that really a compliment? I don’t know. Kenyan women are raised to know how to fill the belly of their family members with good cooking, and how to keep their home clean. They do a fantastic job of it. My sister used to mop her kitchen floor every night before going to bed. So I guess that’s true

# 7 The “contrast” is a turn on

Another important point I grasped is that white men love Kenyan women or black women in general because they like the contrast that the two skin complexions make between their own and the Kenyan woman. I think this is silly. But it’s for this reason that white men prefer the darkest of females. Like Lupita for example. Have you ever seen a mzungu with a light-skin chic? Me neither

#8 More Honest

My mzungu pal told me that black women in general tend to be more forthcoming about their thoughts and feelings. Wait…..really? But I can see how this might be true. Kenyan women in particular are raised to be honest and forthcoming, this is normal in Kenyan culture. But most of our ladies would rather be tortured by Jack Bauer than tell the truth

#9″…the challenge”

I think that many men who are not black and date black women do so because they see it kind of like celebrating Halloween and wearing scary outfits when you are not white.

The controversial Moi University student was arrested and convicted to a two-year jail term after he abused President Uhuru Kenyatta on his facebook account, calling him unpalatable words.

Allan Wadi hit headlines at the beginning of 2015 for what would later land him in jail. Even after he pleaded for forgiveness from the head of state, Wadi would be thrown into jail for the crime, but luckily he was bailed out after 6 months when his appeal successfully went through.

Speaking on Friday evening on The Trend, Wadi revealed why he abused President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The political science student (not Law as Larry Madowo put it) said that the main reason why he resorted to the barrage of abuses is because he was a frustrated poor Kenyan man whose hopes of a better country had been crashed by an intolerant regime.

Wadi said that he was particularly annoyed by the security bill that President Uhuru assented to and felt that he was going against the law and the wishes of many Kenyans.

Parliament could later pass the bill amid chaos but the court nullified some sections after the opposition filed a case.

He added that he was speaking on behalf of those who could not find guts to speak out. He however said that he is sorry for what he said and he is ready to go back to class and finish his undergraduate studies.

Over the weekend, Citizen TV’s Mike Okinyi was arrested along with two Kenyan citizens by Tanzanian Police in Dar es Salaam on Friday evening.

The alarm was raised by fans on Twitter who wondered why Mike Okinyi was not giving them updates on an ongoing match in Tanzania

After his release, Mike Okinyi alleged that the reason he was a no show was because they were arrested .The bizarre reason being that they filmed a stewardess harassing fans, something which is apparently illegal in the 255.

They were soon released and ordered to report to the police station the following morning at 10.a.m . This is what he tweeted after his arrest:

Call her City Girl, call her controversial writer, call her whatever you wanna call her. One thing remains; her mother knows her as Njoki Chege. We all know her by this name.

Njoki Chege is a dreaded name as we speak. I mean, this lady has hit almost everyone when they least expect. When you thought you are safe, something for you is cooking someone in Nation Centre, a skyscraper intimidating other structures along Kimathi Street and Moi Avenue.

The Daily Nation columnist has courted controversy from the day she landed the job at one of the leading media houses in the country, airing her views openly at the expense of other people’s piece.

And over the weekend, as usual, Njoki unleashed yet another barrage of attack on white men and the Kenyan ladies they date.

Njoki warned Kenyan black ladies against dating white men (wazungus), giving a raft of reasons why should steer clear of the thought-to-be-rich Caucasian men.

Among the reasons she gave included those that a white always wants to date a black African girl because they want adventure and exploration with their sexual desires and not out of love and marriage.

She also warned that not all white men have money as most Kenyan girls believe. Some are very poor back in their countries and strive to save to come to Africa for adventure.

These and many others caused a major  standoff on social media, with many of those aggrieved by the attack responding angrily to Njoki’s article.

Majority of those who did this are wazungus and Kenyan ladies either married to wazungus or are dating wazungus.

There was more at MAMAs After Party Nairobi than meets the eye. It’s said to be the biggest concert since the year began.

Last Saturday, Carnivore Ground was the place to be. The star-studded gig gave Kenyans something to talk about on social networking platforms.

Just to remind you, Tanzanian heartthrob, Diamond Platnumz, Sauti Soul, King Kaka, The Kansoul among other heavyweights were on stage to rock revelers.

Of course Diamond carried the day as usually, best live performer in Africa proved his worth and most importantly, why he deserved that title.

Anywho, the superstars that performed at MAMAs aren’t the subject for this article; the gorgeous ladies who showed up at Carnivore are.

Both female celebrities and common raia dressed to kill at MAMAS. Them ladies were so hot in their costumes, Team Mafisi had a difficult time deciding which one best deserved their attention.

After Mzee Ojwang’s tale of sickness and supposed neglect, leading to his death and what seemed to be an ignominious exit from Earth from one of Kenya’s greatest TV legends, focus was shifted to Mzee’s obvious love of the bottle. And that of his KBC colleagues too.

Earlier in the week,we told you about the destructive alcoholic tendencies that gobbled up all of Mzee’s fat earnings at KBC. And also that of Ngomongo, his KBC counterpart and longtime friend. It was also revealed that all the bad rap that KBC had been receiving was really unwarranted… Because,to be honest,KBC would pay these screen legends hefty amounts of money only for them to blow it up at a whim at their favorite watering holes. Rapper DNA too,formerly of Grandpa Records,has had such a brutal fight with alcohol that,on a performance tour of Dubai, he attempted suicide before deciding to turn his life around and get born again. And then ditched the Lord for the secular world again!

Well, why do our TV stars fall so hard? So deep? And so fast?

Why are our local celebrities caught up in such a ruthless Web of alcoholism and endless wastage of money and the little-known much-they earn from their performances?

We explore.

1. TOO MUCH FREE TIME
Most of our celebs have way too much time on their hands. And with very little to do and no other side hassles or any other activities to keep them engaged and focused, they tend to focus all of their energies in spending the way too much free time they have engaged in hedonistic activities. And that includes women and alcohol. Since they largely depend on LIVE shows or TV gigs for their salaries, which don’t happen everyday, these stars have too much time and very little to do with it. Also, local actors shoot entire seasons of a TV show in a week or two and therefore spend all the free time they have blowing up the salaries they get for their TV appearances per episode.

2. AGE
Most of our celebs are young kids in their 20’s. That, however, is not a case exclusive to Kenya; many celebrities across the World are young and in their 20’s anyway. And so,at such a young age, their blood is understandably hot and restless and thus the desire for endless parties and Alcoholism. And that’s where we find ourselves.

3. HUGE SALARIES
No Industry,worldwide,is quite as remunerative as the entertainment industry. Hunk actor Nick Mutuma has confessed to have pocketed as much as 0.8 million for a simple movie role. Citizen TV actors are also said to be very well paid. Local singers too,Sauti Sol,Octopizzo, Bahati and Victoria Kimani do get very high performance fees too. Well, what to do with all that money!!? Drink drink and more drink.

4. COMPANY THEY KEEP
Most of our local celebrities are very poor at choosing productive company. They’re surrounded by a bunch of spineless ‘Yes’ men who pander to their whims and whose core business is to massage their (celebs) egos and do the dirty work for them. But most Celebs are surrounded by the wrong company anyway… Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Tyga. And thus, the lack of self-control and the more they sink into a life of debauchery, drug-abuse and drunkenness. Wrong. Company.

5. PRESSURE
No one is under more pressure on Earth than a Leader and a Celebrity. A leader is under pressure to deliver, impress and win over the masses(Read Kidero and his grass,haha) and a celebrity is under pressure to not just stay afloat but also stay at the top and stay winning. All the time. Nothing is as bad as a decline for a celebrity. They’re under pressure to always remain at the tip of their game, under pressure to release hit song after hit song, under pressure to put out quality material and epic music videos and under pressure to pull off an electric performance and still never go down musically or artistically. And we all know the number one solace for pressure right?! Alcohol! Yes, it is!

6. THE NATURE OF JOB
The entertainment industry is one industry that, by the mere virtue of itself, calls for partying and hedonism and indulgence. Unlike the teaching or the business and marketing Industry, or even the medicine industry, The entertainment industry, world over,is the place where work and alcohol mix perfectly… The industry where you can show up stoned or drunk to work and get away with it. The industry where much of the activity is carried out by stoners and alcoholics and in entertainment joints. You just cannot avoid it.

7. THE DESIRE TO IMPRESS
Our celebrities want to make a statement; We are not just paid but paid very well and so, go ahead and have a beer. Have two. Or three. Or even four. And no, don’t worry… I’ll pay. I’ll pick up the tab. I’ll sort the troubles.. Just knock yourselves out, I’m in charge! As a celebrity,especially in Kenya, fans and friends look up to you to buy them beer and ‘treat’ them almost every weekend. And that’s where the pull comes in from. And one you’re sucked up into the maze,you can never get out. Never!

8. CREATIVITY 
Many celebs are said to be on their creative best while drunk. They perform better on stage while either high or drunk. They write better music or even act better if they’re not in their sober selves. Omosh is a case in point, many other local stand-up comics,especially from Churchill Show are said to always insist on being drunk first before hitting the stage. Or writing comedic material. To some,creativity comes from a state of drunkenness. Or lack of sobriety. Well…..

9. LACK OF FINANCIAL MANAGERS/ADVISORS 
Unlike in the West (Hollywood) where most celebrities do have financial managers and salaried financial advisers,who are paid to manage their funds for them and advice them on proper spending ways and how to not blow money on extravagance, our local celebrities do not have financial experts who can take them through proper usage of money and who can offer them proper investment advice and savings plan. They rely on their friends and family for financial advice. Michael Jackson terribly needed expert financial advisors. But as it turned out, he ignored them all. And sank into bankruptcy fast. 50 Cent, too, might need a financial advisor. Or maybe he has the BEST in the World. Rihanna just did a song ‪#‎BBHMM‬ dedicated to her former financial manager who screwed her finances up and bungled up her accounts. Our local celebs need to surround themselves with financial experts. Fast!

10. DRINKING NATION… 
Well… Kenya is a proud drinking nation. What do you expect!? A nation that,anticipating Obama’s visit, started getting drunk from Thursday evening to Sunday evening. We are a nation that looks for the slightest excuse to get drunk. And totally wasted. Well, you cannot blame your celebs for it now,can you!? They’re just a part of us. They’re just an extension of us. The famous version of us.

There you have it… We have a long way to go. And we are yet to see more celebrities get lost and dragged into the destructive life of alcoholism and drug-abuse…

This may just be the beginning. Maybe.

 

In a widely-read article on the Nairobi News and Nation/Njoki Chege cautioned black women against dating white men in an article named “Woman, never ever date a mzungu if you’re black”

In the article she gives some reasons as to why black women shouldn’t date white men .One if her reasons was that “When a white man looks at you, he sees a slave. He thinks of how you can work for him; how you can make him happy. He doesn’t necessarily have to return the favour.

He knows you are a desperate black woman. He is not stupid. He knows you think he is your ticket out of poverty and he will make you pay for every cent he spends on you.

That is why they ask you to do for them unorthodox sexual acts, and why they want to insert just about anything in your precious little pot and take pictures or film. They want value for their (little) money.

And you agree to be a sexual slave to a mzungu who will dump you, anyway? Shame on you, for even looking suggestively at a white man!”

Her reason for this bile-fest was because of the video doing rounds on social media of a Kenyan women getting molested sexually by a Caucasian man.

Of course, this article has had a lot of people under the collar, especially those that think that the article is stereotypical and uninformed.

Pastor Dr. James Maina Ng’ang’a has been the centre of focus for the last one week after it was alleged that he killed a motorist through reckless driving as he drove his range rover from Nakuru to Nairobi.

It was alleged that pastor Ng’ang’a was drunk-driving and on the wrong side of the road when he hit an oncoming car, killing wife to the driver instantly before he fled the scene with the help of police officers.

While the man of the cloth came out to refute the allegations leveled against him, majority of those who spoke about the issue criticize him and security officers for trying to cover for him even after eye witnesses claimed they saw him get out of the Range Rover and into another car.

Then businessman Paul Kobia threatened to storm the church on Sunday and burn it down.

However, as things turned out, Pastor Ng’ang’a’s church was full to the brim as worshipers flocked to hear from the man of God.

And Kobia did not live up to his threats. Here is how it happened:

To start with, the Nairobi Senator isn’t snobbish, he wasn’t baptized ‘mtu wa watu’ for no apparent reason!

He is very hospitable and generous with his greetings so as with his money. You can call him the Robin Hood of Kenya.

Sonko says he just don’t pass people without greeting them. That greeting is always accompanied with ‘kitu kidogo’.

The lawmaker was yesterday mobbed by residents who were all excited at sight of his convoy. As usual, Sonko pulled out notes from a huge stack of money to dish out to the charged crowd.

Nairobi County Governor Dr. Evans Kidero was put on the spotlight after he embarked on a beautification project of the capital ahead of the much anticipated Obama visit that later on brought the city and indeed the entire country to a standstill.

Kidero was particularly on the receiving end of massive trolling from a section of Kenyans on social media for planting grass on Uhuru Highway just 72 hours to the Obama visit, with clear warnings that no one should go near the grass.

Everyone wondered why the Governor was literally putting pressure on the grass to grow, with funny memes doing round social media mocking the head of the city.

It did not stop even after Obama had left as it turned out that he never saw the developments done on the roads. He arrived at night and left for JKIA in a chopper. Very sorry indeed.

Then there was a video footage showing workers uprooting flowers on the roads, with many arguing that Kidero had hired the flowers to impress Obama.

These and many other are the reasons why President Uhuru has come out to defend Kidero and reveal the reason why all the beautification of the city.

Speaking at Starehe Boys’ Centre over the weekend, President Uhuru, in the presence of Kidero and retired President Mwai Kibaki, revealed that Kidero had indeed planted the grass in readiness for Pope Francis’ visit later this year.

President Uhuru joked that Kidero should be left alone because he foresees the future and he is preparing the city for the leader of the Roman Catholic leader’s visit.
