It’s sad to hear Mzee Meza Morowa has died, it’s shame to the government for leaving Kenya’s unsung heroes to rot in abject poverty.

95-year-old Mzee Meza Marrowa Galana from Makere ya Gwano village in Tana River County, composed the national anthems ages ago borrowing the tune from Pokomo lullaby song.

The media has for a number of times sat down with the deceased to shed light on the national anthem. All the time Mzee Meza had a date with the press, the image that came out wasn’t so pleasing.

It has been several years since we heard from Jogg C and the larger Zaidi ya Mziki group that combined Jogg C and Gospel Fathers.

Well the members moved on and we sadly lost Kaberere but that is not to say the story of how a couple of young men came with a different kind of sound to gospel music that changed the industry is lost.

That is especially when you think of the start they had, from sharing rooms, performing for free to becoming national stars. Well, Kaberere’s friend, and one of the founding members Lenah Ochieng’ has spoken and shared their moments.

In two series, he has outlined their beginnings including his stint at Hope FM playing the clown with a Nigerian accent, Papa Odulele then hosting Route 104 show.

Lenah, who is currently a pastor and still a gospel artist narrates their challenges as well as their victories and awards from Groove Awards to Chaguo La Teeniez to the Prestigious Newsman Awards and Talanta awards in USA. Last week Kenya’s first high-profile Lungula Tape made it to the interwebs after a site by the name Indulge Kenya leaked DJ Crème’s tape.

The sex tape which was taped by Crème himself was met by varied reactions including slut-shaming, attack on the family and memes.

Most A-list celebrities have been silent on the matter, but Today, Pinky Ghelani spoke to Ghafla and had this to say:

“What we are trying to achieve in showbiz, the west has been doing for much longer than us. So that is why a publicity stunt works there and you can reap the benefits but here society is too small, family gets affected, people get affected. You go to church people point fingers and laugh at you “she said before adding “We have to be very careful on what we put out there, our community is too small.”

Is it that some men are so stingy they can’t afford a room or they have burning appetite for smashing that they must finish their business at any spot they deem suitable for ‘harvesting’ a chick?

Last weekend, on Saturday to be precise, Radio Africa (the umbrella media house under which Radio Jambo operates) held Compolympics finals at Nyayo National Stadium.

One Radio Jambo employee was also at the stadium for the event though he had ulterior motives that would later be discovered by security guards at the premises.

Despite being a married man, sources close to him say he also has a loose zip, he likes them hot and yummy. Apparently he is a cheap Casanova boy.

So he had been eyeing this sales girl who is sexy than Hawaiian mojitos by the way, and who also works for Radio Africa. He was keen to ‘devour’ her that very day and he surely did. His loins were burning like wild bushfire that even looking for a lodging was out of the question. He settled for the parking lot.

He led the lady to his car where he would eat the forbidden fruit oblivious of the security guards on patrol. The guards busted him at the height of his sexual escapade and interrupted him before he was done with the second shot.

When they confronted him, he went on rampage issuing threats and throwing all manner of titles in the process.

“Unajua mimi ni nani??” He kept on shouting. (According to sources that leaked the story.)

Unfortunately word got out and reached Radio Jambo management. The culprit has since been fired allegedly for tarnishing the company’s name.

When contacted to shed light on the incident, the former Radio Jambo employee downplayed the accusation leveled against him saying he voluntarily left the station for greener pastures against his former employer’s will.

He denied being anywhere close to Nyayo Stadium that fateful day it was said he was busted eating the forbidden fruit.

The ex Radio Jambo employee was totally dazed by the allegations saying everything said about him was as a result of bad blood between him and his former employer.

It may be 3 months away from Valentines day but love is very much in the air for Prezzo and his young girlfriend.

A few days away from their 1st anniversary , the two  jetted off to Diani for some time off from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi life. And it seems that relaxing was not the only thing that went down judging from where his hand was.

A few weeks after Janet Mbugua welcomed her son, another screen bombshell has become a mother again.

Zuena Kirema formerly of NTV and a former Miss Uganda contestant and wife to Uganda’s top artist Bebe cool has welcomed her fourth born child.

He fourth born is a bouncing baby boy by the name Deen Ozil Ssali. Bebe Cool wrote this after the birth of his son “A happy strong focused sure mother of 4 now. I will love u every day. Baby DEEN u welkam to this world.”

 

 

 

 

 

We have not seen much of Kenya’s First Lady Margaret Kenyatta but it turns out she has been pretty busy.

She was recently in Mandera where she officially launched National Bank’s Northern Kenya greening initiative

Speaking at the event, Mrs Kenyatta expressed her surprise and delight at the bank’s achievement, with over 2.5 million trees planted around the country. The bank’s effort, the First Lady said, is going a long way to mitigate effects of climate change.  Kenya’s forest cover had reduced to 1.7% by 2002 following a period of environmental degradation and has been gradually improving, reaching 6% in 2012. 

“It is such efforts as this one by NBK that are helping the government move closer to the 10% forest cover goal recommended by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).” she said.

 “I am indeed proud to unveil in Mandera two developments courtesy of the National Bank of Kenya: their tree planting programme in Northern Kenya, and the Mandera National Amanah branch (the Islamic banking division of National Bank of Kenya) which will increase access to banking services for Kenyans in this region,” said Mrs. Kenyatta.

NBK’s Kenya@50 tree planting programme has been amassing a forest of 100,000 trees with every branch it launches since the new management took over in 2013. During the two and half years, National bank added 25 new brick and mortar branches, one of the fastest growth rates in the industry.

NBK’s Managing Director and CEO, Munir Sheikh Ahmed said: “We are committed to ensuring that the change happening inside National Bank under our transformation plan is embodied in the environment around us through the tree planting cause. We are alive to the higher calling of National Bank as a bank that carries a lot of Kenyans aspirations,” he said.

A homegrown lender founded 5 years after Kenya’s independence, National Bank of Kenya, is widely associated with Kenyans pride and self determination.

Launch of the Mandera branch, NBK 80th branch, comes at a time when the bank is reaping a dividend from a phase of massive technology investment, streamlining operations and adoption of the universal bank model which has resulted in increased profitability. With the bank set to announce its third quarter 2015 results this month, Its half year 2015 profits were at Ksh. 2.5Billion compared to 2.43Billion shilling for the full year 2014 and 1.8Billion shilling in full year 2013.
