The N-Soko Property host successfully completed the final cycle of chemotherapy treatment this month. Even so, she’s back to India to see doctors.

Janet Kanini was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer months ago but the NTV presenter is quite a fighter, she has been battling the chronic disease and so far it appears she’s winning.

Kanini successfully completed chemotherapy treatment in Kenya early this January.

The mother of two headed back to India where doctors first diagnosed her with stage 4 cancer after being misdiagnosed by doctors in Kenya.

Kanini is in the populous Asian nation for review. She says doctors are yet to give her results for their tests since yesterday was a public holiday in India.

“Yesterday was a public holiday so I’m still waiting for test results. Also note that there is a very big difference in the amount that you pay depending on whether you’re paying through insurance or for yourself. Cash payers on outpatient basis pay at least 30% less than those under insurance, and if you can avoid staying inpatient you’ll save a lot more. Ask your doctor whether your tests and treatment can be handled as an outpatient.” Wrote Kanini in part.

Yesterday, Cord leader and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho brought activities at the Coastal City to a standstill when they opened Fidel Odinga and Prof. Ali Mazrui roads.

Critics have fired salvos at the Mombasa Governor for renaming New Nyali Road after Raila’s late son Fidel Odinga.

Ali Mwatsahu, Chairman Jubilee Alliance Party Mombasa County, was among detractors that found fault with the renaming of New Nyali Road to Fidel Odinga Road.

Ali says Joho’s action was a betrayal to the history and respect of the Coast people since there were many prominent people who qualified to be immortalized in street names.

His comments were also echoed by some common citizens in Mombasa who couldn’t understand what Fidel did for them to be honored by a road named after him. Some suggested the road ought to have been named after his father instead.

But Joho’s supporters fired back at critics by asking what Mama Ngina did for the Coastal people to deserve a road named after her (referring to Mama Ngina Road).

Mombasa governor says naming and renaming roads in Mombasa was his prerogative since the constitution vested him with such powers even without the approval of the County Assembly.

Joho revealed he will soon unveil other roads in honor of Mekatilili Wa Menza, a warrior who led Coastal people in a rebellion against the British Colonial Administration and Mr. Sadiq Ghalia for his exceptional work in heritage protection and conservation.

The State has waged war on gallant online soldiers as it summoned and arrested bloggers deemed to be ‘dangerous’.

Yassin Juma, Anthony Njoroge Mburu and Cyprian Nyakundi are some of the bloggers who have been guests of the state since the year began.

The government has cracked the whip on ‘errant’ keyboard warriors for what it terms as ‘misuse of licensed telecommunication gadgets’.

Bloggers Robert Alai, Seth Odongo (Dikembe Disembe), Yassin Juma, Charles Mark Dienya, Eddy, Phelix G-cord, George Nyongesa, Cyprian Nyakundi and Patrick Msafiri were on Monday summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for grilling.

Gospel singer Willy Paul is now living in fear after two events that happened on Sunday and Monday!

Ghafla! contacted Willy Paul after we got a tip that the singer was fearing for his life after being trailed twice by unknown persons.

‘Sijafika’ singer is a troubled man after he realized he was being pursued by a car that had strange looking individuals, probably thugs.

Willy first noticed something wasn’t right last Sunday when he was at TRM. The singer says a gang of boys were fixedly staring at him while he was chatting with a friend.

He decided to move to a different spot but the boys still couldn’t take their eyes off him. Willy realized a Probox was following him when he left TRM.

He lost them when he sped and used different road to get home. The following day, the same Probox and another car which looked like a Toyota Caldina were following him from Nation Center all the way to Muthaiga.

The singer was in company of his manager whom he was dropping to Zimmerman. Noticing the cars were keeping up with his speed, he accelerated and diverted towards Mathere.

He used a different route to get to his place instead of Zimmerman. The friend reported the matter to the police but the cops instructed him to bring Willy along to record a statement.

Willy who drives a car with a customized plate which has his name on it was forced to change the plate to an ordinary one. He has also limited his movements.

New Orleans born Jazz artist Branford Marsalis will be the main act during the Safaricom International Jazz Festival 2016, to be held on 21st February 2016.

The 3-time Grammy Award winning artist has had an impressive career that includes touring with rock star Sting and British singer Phil Collins, with his band –the Branford Marsalis Quartet – enjoying the honour of having the Best Instrumental Jazz Album on iTunes in 2012.

“We are glad to announce that Branford Marsalis will grace the third edition of the Safaricom International Jazz Festival. To make the festival more exciting, we’ve put together an impressive line-up of illustrious Jazz performers from the Middle East, Europe, South Africa and Kenya,” said Bob Collymore, CEO, Safaricom.

“Our goal, since we launched in February 2014 has been to make Nairobi an internationally recognized hub of Jazz music and I believe the wide array of performers that have graced Safaricom Jazz concerts so far has shown that we are indeed committed to giving Kenyans world-class concerts right here at home,” he said.

Belgian Jazz and Classical music pianist and composer Jef Neve, Italian duo Giampaolo Nuti and Francesco D’Orazio, Maya Beltsitzman and Matan Ephrat from Israel, Shabaka Hutchings from the UK and Siya Makuzeni from South Africa, will join Marsalis on stage for a performance that is set to satisfy even the most critical of Jazz music enthusiasts.

Two Kenyan bands – AfroSync Band and Edward Parseen and the Different Faces Band – will get a chance to share the stage with the internationally acclaimed artists. The two bands were selected after a challenging round of auditions that took place last year, which saw them perform alongside Grammy winners Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown, as well as multiple Grammy nominee Gerald Albright and rising star Sheléa at the Safaricom Jazz Lounge in Nairobi and Mombasa in December.

“I am excited to have a chance to learn from these masters of the genre and I consider the Safaricom International Jazz Festival one of the highlights of my career so far,” said Edward Parseen of Different Faces Band.

Making a return to the Festival this year will be Nigerian-born guitarist Kunle Ayo, who first performed at the event in September 2014.

Larry Madowo and twitter bigwig Cyprian Nyakundi locked horns late last year over the post on the former’s blog. But Larry is now fighting for Nyakundi’s ‘survival’.

Larry and Nyakundi clashed over a post on Madowo’s blog in which he said the twitter bigwig was always paid money to attack and tarnish brands and various individuals.

Nyakundi responded by slapping the NTV news anchor with a lawsuit for defamation. He initially gave Larry a 7 day ultimatum to apologize but he refused to go down on his knees.

The case is yet to be determined in court. In a new twist of events, Larry Madowo is now fighting for Cyprian Nyakundi’s rights.

In an article he wrote on Daily Nation, Larry bashed the government for constant harassment of bloggers in the guise of ‘misuse of a licensed communication device’.

Larry clearly made it know he was defending his nemesis, Cyprian Nyakundi, though he never mentioned his name.

“I’m in court with a blogger who has sued me for defamation, ironically, for a post on my own blog. Yet here I am defending his right to freedom of speech, even though he doesn’t seem to believe in it himself. It worries me that the authorities can claim “misuse of a licensed communication device” and use it to harass and intimidate those who commentate on the Internet. What kind of backward, colonial charge is this anyway?” Wrote Larry in part.

Has Larry finally ended hostilities with Cyprian Nyakundi???

It was the tweet that made Larry Madowo’s tribesmen bay for his blood prompting him to delete it altogether. But his action did nothing to extinguish the already raging inferno!

“Show of hands, who else was expecting an explosive list from Raila Odinga and all we got was nothing more than a fart?” The tweet that landed Larry in trouble.

Larry was smacked, stripped, mauled and humiliated for the tweet on his twitter timeline. But not all condemned Larry, the elite cheered him up.

The NTV anchor posted a number of positive feedbacks he got from his Eurobond tweet on his column on Daily Nation.

PLO Lumumba was among the elites that shared their thought on Larry’s ‘fart’ tweet. He termed Larry’s bashing as a tragedy of monumental proportions going on to urge him to remain a warrior of truth.

“Mr Madowo, Jean-Jacques Rousseau was right – “Insults are the arguments employed by those who are in the wrong.” Mr Odinga’s Luo followers, regardless of their status or education, have deified him and in their minds he is infallible. It is a tragedy of monumental proportions. Please remain a warrior for truth, reason and justice even in the face of insults.” PLO Lumumba.

She was supposed to walk down the aisle in 2014 but she called off the wedding after she discovered her sweetheart was another hyena fooling around with another women.

Citizen TV’s Anne Kiguta would have been someone’s wife by now but her ex fiancé had eyes on another mommy.

Steve Ngunyi was the lucky man who was lighting Anne Kiguta’s heart. Nairobi Wire says plans were already underway for the two to wed early in February 2014.

But the wedding never saw the light of the day as the Citizen TV anchor is said to have called it off after she busted her then fiancé ‘exploring other waters’.

A road in the Coastal City of Mombasa has been named after the late Fidel Odinga. Mombasa was literary shut down as the opening ceremony kicked off.

Last year during the burial ceremony of Fidel Odinga at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University in Bondo, Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho, promised he would name a road in the Coastal City after the late son of former premier Raila Odinga.

True to his promise, Joho yesterday officially opened Fidel Odinga Road. Raila Odinga flew to Mombasa to join the Governor and other dignitaries in launching the road.

Raila was greeted by a mammoth crowd as he made his way from Moi International Airport through the streets of Mombasa.

Activities came to an abrupt stop as the former Prime Minister’s convoy passed. Politics was kept at bay as Fidel Odinga Road was opened.

An ugly scene was witnessed yesterday at Mombasa Law Courts after blogger Anthony Njoroge was released!

Five Kiambu MPs; Ferdinand Waititu, Alice Nganga, Kimani Ichung’wa, Paul Koinange and Jude Njomo went to Mombasa to show support to controversial blogger, Anthony Njoroge, who was facing trial.

The blogger had been arrested after he accused Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo, of importing substandard eggs in his Facebook post.

Anthony had also alleged that the Kiambu governor had also established Sea Cross Farm in Kwale as a cover-up to import cheap and low quality eggs into the country.

The blogger’s mentioning of Sea Cross Farm was what made youth who benefit from the farm to protest against his ‘reckless’ blogging.

Youth wearing t-shirts and placards written ‘We Support Responsible Blogging’ clashed with the 5 Kiambu MPs outside Mombasa Law Courts.

The angry youth prevented the legislators from holding a press conference at the Mombasa Law Courts and that’s why they clashed with the MPs.

Waititu angrily threw kicks at a youth who had tried pushing him. The incident was caught on camera by NTV.

A grisly road accident along Southern Bypass caught the attention of many not only because of the severity of the accident but also because of the event that proceeded.

Southern Bypass is notorious for cases of highway robberies. Last year, amateur video caught a gang of thieves stealing from motorists in broad daylight.

This was evident again a few days ago when a matatu overturned along Southern Bypass and burst into flames.

Motorist caught the incident as it happened. There are no report of any death recorded from the accident though something funny happened.

While commuters were running for dear lives from the matatu which was about to go up in flames, looters rushed to the matatu to steal whatever they could carry.

Rose Mohando is the Tanzanian equivalent of our very own Willy Paul, controversy has shrouded her life like a toilet paper roll; abortion, backsliding etc.

Screenshots have been doing rounds on social media showing a Kenyan pastor accusing Rose Muhando for not holding her end of a deal they agreed on.

Apparently the man of cloth paid the Tanzanian songbird Kes 90,000 to perform at a church event only for the ‘Nibebe’ singer to fail to turn up for the gig.

Rose Muhando is now nursing snake bites at a hospital in Dodoma’s Area C. According to Global Publishers, the gospel star was bitten by the creepy reptile as she walked to her compound.

The unknown species of the serpent that bit Muhando left her with severe injury but luckily she was rushed to the hospital just in time.

The incident happened last week on 19^th January.

Fallen Mugithi singer will be laid to rest in February!

Paul Mwangi popularly known as Salim Junior passed on last Saturday at a Nakuru hospital after battling chest infection for months.

Even though the cause of his death has been established, Salim’s family has delayed his burial till February 2^nd, about a week from now.

It’s still not known why the deceased’s family decided to bury the fallen singer some 10 days after he passed on.

The body of the departed Mugithi singer is still lying in a mortuary in Nakuru. The Late Salim Junior will be buried at his father’s farm in Arash, Subukia sub-county Nakuru.

Anthony Njoroge Mburu has been locked in Shimo La Tewa prison after the court rejected his release pending bond determination.

The controversial blogger took shots at Kiambu Governor, Willian Kabogo, accusing him of importing low quality eggs.

The Nairobi based blogger was ferried all the way to the Coast where he was tried before a Mombasa court last week.

Anthony was to be arraigned in court today for his fate to be determined. We haven’t gotten the scoop of how events unfolded at Mombasa court today. We shall update you once we have details.

Anyway, 5 members of parliament drawn from Kiambu County namely; Ferdinand Waititu aka Baba Yao, Alice Ng’ang’a, Kimani Ichung’wah, Moses Kuria and Jude Njomo protested against the arrest of Anthony Njoroge.

Speaking at Ndumberi shopping centre last Sunday, the five condemned the decision to take Anthony to Mombasa for trial.

They argued that since the blogger was arrested in Kiambu authorities ought to have prosecuted him at a Kiambu court.
