Last Saturday, the nation was shocked to learn about the sudden demise of popular Mugithi singer Salim Junior.

Salim (Paul Mwangi) passed on at the Nakuru Memorial hospital early Saturday morning.

Salim was known for various hits producing both gospel and secular songs. The fallen singer was a married man.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) issued a directive to ban offensive graffiti and videos shown in matatus.

The crackdown comes three months after President Uhuru publicly said he supported graffiti on matatus since it created employment during the launch of cashless Matatu fares last year.

NTSA wants matatus to remove offensive artwork, modified horns, noisy exhaust pipes and colors that are not on the vehicle’s logbooks.

The transport regulatory body says they have received complaints from commuters, hospitals, schools etc about loud music played and offensive videos shown in matatus.

The directive to have graffit removed from mathrees was supposed to be implemented starting today, Monday 25^th January.

A western mp was the object of ridicule recently after he was accused of selling the wrong agenda at the wrong party.

Shinyalu MP, Justus Kizito was bumbled of the stage after a crowd he was addressing in Kakamega would have none of his message. The Jubilee supporter chose the wrong crowd of CORD supporters.

The crowd could not let him continue his speech but the MP persisted and thus members from the crowd took action. Ciru Muriuki was one of the unlucky few who were shown the door when Nation Media Group (NMG) went on a firing spree. But she’s still a regular face on The Trend, how come??

Sometimes late last year, NMG laid off a number of its employees; Nation FM’s Ciru Muriuki, Anto Neo Soul and Sanaipei Tande were among those who lost their jobs.

Ciru Muriuki and Anto Neo Soul were ‘contributors’ on the Trend, they would chip in their opinions on trending topics discussed on the NTV show.

But ever since he was shown the door at Nation FM, Anto Neo Soul ultimately disappeared on the Trend yet Ciru remaind. Why?

In an interview with Daily Nation, the radio and television personality revealed why she remained on the Trend.

Ciru says she had a chat with Larry Madowo after she was dismissed from NMG and she decided to remain on the Trend.

She explains the Trend has opened many doors of opportunities for her plus she enjoys appearing on the show.

So is she getting paid? She didn’t reveal that.

Third year Kenyatta University student was last Sunday found dead in the swimming pool in KU main campus.

The body of the late Julius Obwanda was discovered floating in a swimming pool by a staff at around 10am.

The deceased was a third year student at the Kenyatta University pursuing Bachelor of Commerce(Finance).

Activities at the university came to an abrupt stop as students gathered by the swimming pool to catch a glimpse of doctors trying to resuscitate the deceased.

The body was finally taken to the mortuary after doctors established Julius had died. KU administration is yet to issue official communication regarding the tragedy.

There are few artists in Kenya who can call it as it is like Octopizzo does on any issue. Well, last week Larry arranged a discussion between artists and MCSK representatives on the Trend and a number of big artists from Nameless to the P-Unit crew attended.

Elani were also there as was Octopizzo. With many artistes complaining about their royalties, Octopizzo decided to to confront issues that were being hushed about.

First he had issue with how the royalties are shared hitting out at MCSK for having a confusion on logs and revealing that in 2014 he got only 3k for all his songs. He was however cutting both sides and thus took issue with artists laziness to attend meetings and forums set to iron out the royalty allocation.

He said most artists keep off such meetings coming only when there are allowances thus not influencing and determining how royalties are shared out.

Does the President takes lunch at random food joints? Well, he was spotted taking lunch at a Thika Road restaurant.

The President is back in the capital after a long stay at the Coastal City of Mombasa. After he checked on the wounded KDF soldiers at Defence Memorial Hospital, Uhuru went to be with his family.

The head of state decided to treat his family with lunch at a new restaurant in Garden City, along Thika Super Highway.

The new Caribbean restaurant dubbed ‘Sugarcane’ was the President’s stop for lunch. (Make no mistake of thinking the restaurant has sugarcane on its menu, just in case Wafulas were thinking of…)

The President was accompanied by his Wife Margaret Kenyatta and his Son Muhoho Kenyatta. His stop at Garden City for lunch has surprised many since it’s not tradition for the President just to pop up at food joints to grab something to bite.

Last Sunday, ‘Huu Mwaka’ hit maker was at Thirima PCEA Church in Thogoto, Kiambu County where he gifted Mr. Evanson Gathigu with the keys to a Toyota Rav 4.

After his mother passed on, Jaguar dropped out of school due to lack of fees. Mr. Evanson Gathigu, a head teacher, took Jaguar from the streets and enrolled him to school.

Jaguar has been forever grateful of what Mr. Gathigu did for him and he decided to pay him back last Sunday.

The singer bought his former head teacher a brand new Toyota Rav 4. After attending a church service at Thirima PCEA, Jaguar presented Mr. Gathigu with the keys to the pricey Rav 4.

“Sunday well spent with my former high school head teacher Mr Gathigu and his wife…he accepted my request to admit me in his school after I had dropped out of school after my mum’s death, will forever Thank God and pray for him for what you did to me and my life.” Wrote Jaguar.

Amateur video caught two men said to be thugs being killed in cold blood in Ronald Ngala Street!

Are police allowed to shoot and kill criminals even when they pose no threat to their lives? The incident in the CBD left many with lots of questions.

Unknown persons caught a bloodcurdling incident in Ronald Ngala Street on video; two men were being executed in broad daylight.

The first scene of the video shows a man lying on the ground dead. Men thought to be plain cloth police officers then escort a second man in an alley.

The man tries to fight off the said plain cloth officers but he’s overpowered and dragged into the allay. Two gunshots are heard and then the man lies dead. The incident happened on Wednesday.

The persons who caught the killings on video were recording the incident from a storey building opposite the road.

The news of Bahati quitting Gospel music was always going to inspire quite a debate and discussion with people either sympathizing with him or him getting quite a backlash.

Well it seems someone forgot  the gospel truth of he without sin be the first to cast stone. Former gospel musician Papa Muyelele who in 2014 was quite an up coming artiste himself with a studio album to boot and songs like Wele Wange and Muthutho Anthem has hit out at Bahati.

The singer apparently does not think Bahati ever did a gospel song alluding that the young artiste has always been a Secular artiste. This is what he posted online. Someone seems to be seeking relevance or just enjoying the ongoing bashing.

Popular Mugithi singer Salim Junior (real name: Paul Mwangi) has passed on at the Nakuru Memorial hospital earlier this morning. 

 Salim Junior changed the Kikuyu music scene with the unmistakable one-man guitar sound. He gave new life to most of the classics and helped other artistes along the way. He is talent gone too soon. 

 Details of what he was ailing from are still not known. We shall keep you updated with more details on the story as they come up.

Twitter rubble rouser, Robert Alai has called out Reggae artists Morgan Heritage who are still in the country several months after their famous Nairobi concert.

 The reggae band from Jamaica has expressed their willingness to take up Kenyan citizenship saying that they felt that Kenya was like their second home. The president, Uhuru Kenyatta offered that in the event that they felt like settling down here, Kenya would consider giving them a chance at dual citizenship. 

Not everyone is as welcoming as the president was however, with some of the social media users questioning the decision of the group to stay in Kenya long after their concert had ended. 

Robert Alai in his usual fashion called out the reggae group , terming them as a broke, bhang  smoking gang  that was overstretching  Kenya’s hospitality.

“Morgan Heritage is the new Defao. Broke, ganja smoking gang which is not ready to go back home. Maybe ganja is so easy to find locally. Don’t overstay your welcome.” Alai wrote on his social media.

 

Toklezea singer, Chantelle has opened up about her life, getting married to a gospel music producer but most importantly about her sad, dark past of drinking problems and smoking. 

The singer says that she used to drink and smoke even after she got married to the gospel producer.
