Ugandans have come up with their own action-packed ‘Expendables’ which received free advertisement on NTV Kenya.

Olympic gold medalist, David Rudisha, will soon be succeeded by his daughter who’s showing determination to fill in her father’s shoes.

Middle-distance runner, David Rudisha, boasts of a world record in 800m. Rudisha comes from a family of well known athletes.

His father, Daniel Rudisha, is a former runner who won the silver medal at the 1968 Olympics as part of the Kenyan 4 × 400 m relay team while his mother Naomi, is a former 400m hurdler.

Rudisha is keen to pass on his family’s tradition to his own kids. The athlete has been training her daughter and he’s impressed by how she’s faring.

After weeks of being bashed and even rightly criticized for their handling of the artistes’ royalties, MCSK has finally responded to the issue. In a telephone conversation with Pulse, the MCSK CEO has come out defending the allegations and clarifying certain aspects regarding the issues raised by MCSK.

According to the CEO, the money was not to cover all their rights as it was only broadcast royalties and not inclusive other rights like mechanical rights. The 300,000k which the group was later called for was to cover up an earlier error by the MCSK which saw them fail to monitor Elani’s songs from 2013 July to 2014 June and the amount was compensation for the period. He explained that such errors do happen to other artists as well.

Well, it is proving that this is not going to be a one time debate alone, as the issue keeps up rearing its head with other artistes coming out. MCSK also lamented the inability and/or unwillingness on the part of the radio stations to submit logs as part of the cause for discrepancies and challenged Elani to provide where they got the comparisons logs from.

The neighboring Uganda held its maiden presidential debate over the past weekend and it was KTN news anchor Nancy Kacungira who was moderating.

Back in 2013, a certain Mohammed Abduba Dida ‘outshone’ other candidates during Presidential debate and many thought he could actually carry the day.

Dida brought total humor to a place where the atmosphere was filled with seriousness as one of the hopefuls would be Kenya’s fourth president.

Uganda too has its own Abduba Dida by the name Joseph Mabirizzi; this was evident on Saturday night during presidential debate.

KTN’s Nancy Kacungira alongside Alan Kasujja were the moderators. A total of seven presidential candidates showed up at Serena hotel with the exception of the incumbent President.

They included; Besigye, Abed Bwanika Maj. Gen. Benon Biraaro, Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba, Eng. Joseph Mabirizi and Faith Maureen Kyalya Walube.

Joseph Mabirizzi kept the audience laughing with how he responded to questions Nancy asked. His insanely ridiculous rhetoric other than pragmatic solutions was a reminiscent of Kenya’s Abduba Dida.

Anyway Kacungira did a great job moderating and she received lots of accolades for a job well done. She’s supposed to be back on KTN by now since her 3-month stint at BBC expired.

The government has awarded the nurse who died from meningitis contracted while fighting Ebola in Sierra Leone with a state award. Dorothy Ong’onda who was a nurse at the Rift Valley General Hospital and among the volunteers on the trip to Sierra Leone has been awarded by a a Head of State Commendation posthumously.

Dorothy first hit the headlines when she was airlifted from Sierra Leone to KNH having contracted meningitis while working among the Ebola victims. During her treatment, she spent all the money from the Sierra Leone embassy 200k, and a further 150/- raised by the family for bills and still it was not enough.

She got no help from the government in a journey that saw her move from hospital to hospital looking for cheaper but effective health care. She would pass on in the Coptic Hospital in Maseno after neglect in her former hospital and lack of government support through all her tribulations only to get a State commendation at her burial. Such is the brutality of life.

Alikiba and Diamond Platinumz have arguably the biggest beef on the local scene right now. Now, they have something new to beef about after an interview Diamond gave in which he revealed his position of influence in determining the Tanzanian music played on international platforms.

In the interview, Diamond reveals in a rather chest thumping manner that he is usually consulted by many international media platforms on the quality of Tanzanian music videos and whether they can feature on international platforms.

He goes on to say without his recommendation the videos under consultation cannot get to feature abroad. He was however, quick to say he has never given a negative opinion to a tanzanian song nor used his position to surpress other artistes’ works. 

His nemesis Alikiba was obviously one of the first to get consulted and as expected he dismissed Diamond’s said influence saying’ 

“If what he (Diamond) says is true, then the TV station is doing a wrong thing. However, I don’t believe his statement. He (Diamond) doesn’t carry the talent of everyone with him; each singer has his own talent, and has the right to showcase his work. Music nowadays is done for business; so, it would be unfair for only one person to determine if a country’s singers’ music videos meet the threshold to be played on international media – considering we put a lot of money in producing those videos.”

Jamaican siblings, Morgan Heritage, fell in love with Kenya and they decided to move into the 254 forever. But their move has angered some!

When Morgan Heritage flew to Kenya last October 2015, the group revealed their plans to settle in the 254 for good.

A 13 year old girl at Ponda Mali Slum in Nakuru is nursing serious burns after a member of her congregation set her on fire while attempting an exorcism.

The class Seven pupil sustained slightly over one percent burns on her face and is responding well to treatment. Her woes have deepened with the realization that she was pregnant.

Talking of her ordeal, the girl narrated how the men of cloth had poured paraffin on a red cloth draped over her face and lit a candle to initiate a ritual.

The ritual however hit a snag when a member of the church present at the exorcism ingested took paraffin in his mouth and sprayed it on her face, the candle flared burning the girl on her face as well as a member who tried to put out the fire.

A certain Ms Achieng has told the police that whatever happened was an accident and she had the same performed on her before with remarkable results.

The Church has refuted claims that they were practicing witchcraft.

After enjoying a sweeping victory last October, John Magafuli has become an international hero thanks to his efforts in freeing Tanzania form the yoke of poverty and corruption.

During his tenure, the frugal president has managed to cut the cabinet from 30 to 19 posts, fired corrupt officials and has banned lavish public events.

Now as SDE reports, Magafuli has allegedly banned miniskirts because the short dresses and skirts have apparently encouraged the spread of HIV/AIDS. All ladies with miniskirts in their closet are expected to get rid of the ‘offending’ garments in three weeks. This move comes after the country known for their exemplary twerking skills had the provocative dance banned in public.

The NTV news anchor finally bowed to pressure from critics and offered his ‘nusu mkati’ apology following a tweet that saw him get lynched.

A few days ago, Larry Madowo was being attacked left right and center after he settled on ‘indecent’ words to express his opinion.

The NTV journalist hit at Cord leader saying he expected him to name big fish in the Eurobond saga only for him to fart.

“Raila Odinga is a patriot and a gentleman from my interactions with him. He would be ashamed of those abusing and threatening others in his name.” Warned Larry.

Gospel wonderkid Bahati has made a disappearing act that is both confusing and startling. Prior to the fiasco that blew up earlier this week,involving Bahati and his erstwhile rival Willy Paul, little has been seen or heard of Bahati.

Willy Paul is also said to have gone livid-Furious both online and offline over the way things were going and the fact that he felt aggrieved.

We can authoritatively reveal that Bahati has WIPED OFF his Instagram account and also said a temporary goodbye to his very active and popular Facebook page.

Bahati,who boasts a collective 370,000 followers on both sites,has now dumped his activities on both sites and to everyone’s utter shock,even DELETED every one of his Instagram pictures.

On Facebook too,where Bahati has been an ambassador for a leading Telecommunications Company,Bahati has said goodbye – the last update he did was on 12th January – that’s 5 days ago,the last day his fresh duel with Willy Paul got it’s nastiest.

Bahati,according to sources,is also said to be suffering from a nervous breakdown and he is said to feel demoralized after it appears that almost half of the Gospel Industry is hanging up against him in a nasty,calculated move to silence him,sabotage his career,frustrate him and ruin him in finality.

Bahati is also said to be supremely tired of the endless fights that some of his colleagues who we can’t name here seem to start with him only to later turn the tables and lump the blame on him.

He’s at his lowest as we speak and we can also reveal that he hasn’t spoken to any media person or any other person for the last 3 days except a few trusted friends. Bahati’s phone has also been disabled and getting him on his phone has been a problem too. That’s his own decision,we can authoritatively report.

In addition to his self-imposed Social Media blackout,Bahati Is also said go have quit over 10 WhatsApp groups and have gone silent even in the instant-messaging site too.

And as we currently speak,getting Bahati either on phone or physically has been a problem and his fans have camped on his site to wonder; What is going on!??

We can also report that Bahati is currently living like a recluse,a post-acquittal Michael Jackson,unable to carry out his daily artistic activities or handle business as usual.

Diamond’s wife flouted Tanzanian laws and she had been made to pay dearly!

Tanzania’s national arts council, Basata, has slapped Zari Hassan with a ban on her famous ‘Zari All White Party.’

Apparently Zari failed to adhere to rules and regulations set by Basata when she hosted Zari All White Party in 2014.

Basata says the Ugandan national breached the law by advertising the show before getting permission from it.

As a result, the arts council decided to fine her Kes 23,000. But that was the lenient punishment, Basata banned Zari from hosting Zari White Party in Tanzania till she adheres to the procedure for holding such an event.

The ban didn’t come as a surprise to Tanzanians. Last year, Bongo authorities banned twerking (the most popular dance by girls) saying it undermined their culture.

Zari All White Party is known for all manner of ratchet stuff as it was evident when Diamond’s wife and Huddah hosted one in Nairobi.

With Magufuli’s zero tolerance for bleach of law, guess Zari All White Party has a long way to go before it’s allowed to return to Tanzania.

A few days ago Elani narrated their ordeal with MSCK and how a debt had kept them away from the limelight for months. 

 They sparked off what has been an uproar among Kenyan artists who feel that MCSK has not been open in the way they distribute royalties to artists, for example Elani only got 31k despite having top songs in the country at the time. 

Today, I bumped onto Elani at a meet where they had turned among other artists to deliberate on the way forward. Despite having been in debt the past year, the band turned up aboard an expensive chauffeured  Mercedes Benz!

The money situation of local artists is alarming especially with the new expose that MCSK was fleecing Kenyan artists of their hard earned monies. 

 Elani exposed the down with the music regulatory board saying that they had received only 30k for all the work they’d put in releasing chart-topping jams. That was not all, Avril Kenya also revealed that she had received only four thousand shillings as royalties for her music. 

What happens to all the money gathered from clubs, music shops and matatu’s?  That is a question that everyone wants answers for. 

Earlier today, in a meeting officiated by Johnson Sakaja at the Kenya National Theater veteran vernacular singer Joseph Kamaru dropped a bombshell when he said that the last time he received any money from MCSK was in 2006! Ten years ago!!

He lamented of the pain in his heart after being fleeced of money that he had worked so hard to get over the year. He went on to ask the Goverment to come in and save the situation for all Kenyan artists.

His Youtube Channel is quite popular and he has used it to push up quite a number of artistes promoting their videos something he attributes to having lead to the videos popularity. He relocated back to Kenya in the Fall of last year and has spoken of his experiences and plans.

Given his involvement in a number of videos, the first question was whether he intended to move into video production or set up a studio, since his company had also grown big.

He admits that is a possibility but is still setting up base and looking for avenues as he establishes his brand in the tricky Kenyan market. The multitalented music enthusiast is also a music producer and a videographer and already has some projects out and has gained quite a following and clientele base locally.

These include both artists and private individuals looking for studio photography services . Joash has his longtime fiancée Gracie Githaiga. Marriage plans are in three years time he says.

 About 5 years ago Genge group, P-Unit released ‘Kare’ featuring Mimmo as part of their ‘Wagenge Hao’ Album.

A song that became one of the most popular songs of our generation rocking radio waves, blaring form matatu’s woofers and keeping clients happy at Kinyozi’s and salons all over Kenya.

But despite the major airplay, Boneye revealed that MCSK Offered to pay them 250 bob which they refused and they had to raise the issue with MCSK who begrudgingly coughed up 100,000 which was split three-ways.

Fact: 3 Years ago MCSK offered to pay us 250/- for KARE (number one song on the African Charts then) we declined the money.

After we raised issues with MCSK and held endless meetings with the CEO Maurice Okoth we were assured that a monitoring system had been acquired. The following year I received a mere 100K and the same amount to my fellow P-UNIT members. (So this 300,000/- blanket fee seems to be the ‘artists expectations management fee’ as is in Elani’s case) what followed was articles all over the media referring to P-UNIT as ‘Highest Paid’ Artists by MCSK)

It’s only until last year that it was revealed to me that the monitoring had failed ages ago.

Fact: MCSK had never communicated about the Monitoring System’s failure, so using what logs is distribution of royalties based on over the years?
When we (under MIAKE) asked for a credible firm to audit MCSK and proposed one we preferred as members, a different firm was hurriedly forced onto the members by the office bearers at MCSK at the Machakos AGM.

As a member I’m yet to see the findings of any audit yet. Which must articulate the findings on the monitoring system.
I just shared this story with fellow artists and the public not just to fight MCSK but to share my experiences and highlight a broken system and the antics used to ‘manage the artists’ expectations’ and paint a glossy picture of a rotten truth.

A single tweet has  turned twitter into a war zone  between Larry Madowo and ‘Cord bloggers’

 It started with a tweet that Larry wrote:

“Show of hands, who else was expecting an explosive list from Raila Odinga and all we got was nothing more than a fart?”

This was a tweet written in connection with the names that Raila had released as people purported to have been the masterminds of the Eurobond saga.  According to Larry, Majority of Kenyans were waiting for a mind blowing expose probably touching on the political big shots  only to be served a cold, disheartening list of small time people that no one knew.

 In a reply to Larry Madowo’s tweet, Cyprian Nyakundi decided to go for the jugular by dragging Larry Madowo’s mother into a tweef gone awry: 

Cyprian Nyakundi: “Did you want Raila to name your mother for you go term the list explosive “

The two have been know to be beefing for a while now with Cyprian threatening to sue Larry Madowo who had allegedly slandered him.  Invoking someones mother in a tweef was however uncalled for, especially when defending and maintaining a political standpoint. 

Its shameful, regressive and primitive.
