With the demise of the colonel, Ugandan strongman Yoweri Museveni seems to have filled the shoes very ably and with each turn he is becoming adept at showmanship and quotable speeches. After pulling his roadside phone talk, Yoweri got a chance to play the benevolent father in equally spectacular fashion.

While presiding over a function a woman from the attending crowd decided to have a go at meeting the president, however the security officer were blocking her leaving her to lie on the ground writhing, at this juncture Museveni intervened asking one of his guards to let the lady come.

Unflustered, the lady came forward proceeding to bow and kneel before the president and then to everyone’s surprise, she planted herself on his lap for a moment enjoying the rare privilege. On Monday evening, 30 year Maxwell Okoth was arrested with self-inflicted wounds after her brutally murdered his 22-year-old girlfriend Edinas Nyainda in his house at Kahawa Wendani.

Maxwell took his girlfriend’s life by stabbing her repeatedly in the torso and neck after she decided to call their relationship off. It is said that an argument the two had after the break up led to Maxell flying into a murderous rage and stabbing her before attempting to kill himself using the same knife, according to various media reports.

This story is one of the increasing cases of Kenyan lovers turning killers and its getting worrisome.

“We need to have this conversation now…we have normalised violence.”Popular radio personality Adelle Onyangod aid while adding her voice to the ongoing tragedy.

Adelle who has on numerous ocassions championed a social campaign against violence said it is about time the conversation on relationships and violence is addressed.

“We have normalised violence even in relationships,” Adelle said, “When someone slaps you once, you rationalise it. You say, ‘He was just in a bad mood’. When women cut off parts of a man’s private organs, we turn that into a joke on social media.”

She continued, “It is about time we had that conversation about relationships. Find out what is normal and what isn’t.”

Adelle believes that violence against any gender is wrong.

The charismatic radio star hopes, the ex-military boyfriend who is now facing charges for allegedly stabbing the girlfriend 10 times will also get “help because he needs it.”

It’s been a while since we heard from Avril, but the beautiful Kaka Empire singer is doing well.

In fact she was recently in Kilifi where she was spotted in a traditional Mijikenda outfit, which I am told is from the Giriama people.

It had been reported that Maxwell Okoth resorted to killing his girlfriend because she decided to ditch him only after she had cleared her university education which Maxwell paid for.

30 year Maxwell Okoth was arrested after he killed his 22-year-old girlfriend Edinas Nyainda in his house at Kahawa Wendani on Monday morning.

Word had it that Maxwell resorted to killing Edinas when she decided to end their relationship only after she graduated from Kenyatta University. Maxwell was said to be the one who had paid for Edinas’ university education.

But Edinas’ father, John Akello Nyainda, revealed Maxwell didn’t pay for his daughter’s education in campus.

Speaking to eDaily, Mr. Nyaida revealed his daughter was enrolled in Kenyatta University under regular programme.

He said the only money that was paid for Edina’s education in campus was her tuition fees which he and not Maxwell used to pay.

“When she was admitted in university under regular programme, I thought I was only going to pay tuition fee for the first semester. But I learnt I was supposed to pay university tuition fee for her study throughout the four years.” Mr. Nyaida told eDaily.

Brutal and callous crimes of passion are back with us in quite a weird frenzy.

Just as the public is still coming to terms how someone will stab to death a lady he loved 22 times, now a woman has left a man and his golden nuggets in insufferable pain.

A 32 year old man in Kakamega arrived home from work getting to ask his wife details about certain land documents. His wife claimed she had burned them resulting to a quarrel. Retiring to bed later on, he woke up at midnight experiencing bitter pain in the genital area only to realize he was on fire. The wife had also locked him up in the house and ran away.

The man identified as Antony was freed by his brother and after receiving medical attention has vowed never to allow the lady back again. He is recuperating at Lumakanda Hospital where he was admitted. Here is the video of him narrating his ordeal

Koffi Olomide’s arrest and prosecution is more of a retributive justice than mere punishment for him assaulting one of his female dancers at JKIA.

The jury sentenced Koffi Olomide to 18 months in prison a few hours after he was arrested and taken to a court in Kinshasa.

Such kind of hastened prosecution only raises eyebrows given that the man who filed a petition to have Koffi Olomide prosecuted is his former friend turned bitter foe.

Congolese Congressman (more so of a member of parliament) Zacharie Bababaswe took it up to himself to see to it that Koffi paid dearly for assaulting one of his female dancers in Kenya.

The flamboyant politician used to be good friends with Koffi until they fell out after the veteran musician and his lead singer, Cindy Le Coeur, were accused of belittling him in their songs.

Mr. Bababaswe started a campaign to have Koffi arrested the moment the music maestro touched down in Kinshasa after he was deported from Kenya.

He filed a petition on behalf of the Congolese public to get the musician punished for assaulting his dancer and for shaming DR Congo.

In a televised press conference, Mr. Bababaswe expressed shock and disappointment with authorities questioning why Koffi was still a free man yet there was video evidence showing the musician kicking his dancer in Kenya.

The congressman had the backing of the public which was baying for the blood of Koffi Olomide. The police quickly responded and arrested Koffi who was then immediately taken to court. Congolese justice system must have felt the heat from the public to quickly sentence Koffi within the few hours he was presented in court.

Even though Koffi battered his dancer, the kind of justice he was subjected to was based on punishing him severely rather than rehabilitating him.

‘Hyena Man’ caught the attention of the world after he was exposed for robbing teenage girls of their virginity for a fee of Kes 500 to Kes 700 only!

A few days ago, HIV positive Malawian man, Eric Aniva, shocked the world when he told BBC he was paid to deflower adolescent girls as part of a traditional ritual marking their passage to womanhood.

The sexual cleansing ritual lasts for three days and it’s performed in southern part of Malawi by men known as ‘hyenas’ at the request of a girl’s parents after her first menstruation.

Koffi Olomide is really having a bad end month all the result of a stupid and regrettable action.

The Congolese veteran and one of the biggest acts in Africa was still reeling from his deportation and ban in Kenya and Zambia when he was arrested. His arrest comes a day after he was booed at the airport.

Nairobi at times feels like a jungle. Maybe because there are alls sorts of thieves looking to prey on you .Today we look at the kind of thieves that ply the streets of Nairobi.

1. The Smooth Criminal
This kind of thief does not have the typical ‘thief’ look. They prey on our naivety, humanity and superficiality.

Most people expect thieves to look all rugged and ‘look like a thief’, but these thieves are the exact opposite. They are often spotted in a well-fitting suit carrying a newspaper that they will read while spreading over your laps giving them the perfect opportunity to rob you.

Of course many people fall prey to this kind of thief since you never see it coming.They come in other forms such as an old woman or an old man. The adage don’t judge a book by its covered must have been coined from them.

2. The Chemist
This one conducts a sort of chemical warfare on you. 

They use drugs that cause their unsuspecting victims to lose all sense of self-control, thinking, and lead to memory loss so you never remember what happened exactly when you got robbed. You have heard of stories where people shake hands or sit next to someone then they voluntarily give up all their belongings.

3. The Athletes
Often spotted in traffic especially in Githurai or Tom Mboya Street. They usually strike the window, grab your phone and before you know it they have taken off with it at an Usain Bolt speed.

4. The Armed robbers
The worst of them all. They don’t play. Don’t be a hero with these ones, they are on edge and your begging and arguing just makes them edgier. This is not a good thing. An edgy thief is a dangerous thief.

Shortly after New Year’s turn, he unleashed ‘Dus Nyau’ and then ‘Haitosi’ about a month ago. I am not going to forget the various other artistes he has collaborated with.

There was one point in time, where It seemed like Timmy was involved in every hit song on the radio. Didn’t matter if it was a feature or a song of his own, the newly signed Kaka Empire artiste was everywhere. Even when it felt like people were hopping off the Pacho bandwagon, his knack for making hit records never faltered.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to making hit records. Everything else falls under the column of irrelevancy, if you’re not capable of making good music. That’s where the longevity factor comes into serious play. You can’t last in this industry, if you have the inability to adapt and keep your audience intrigued. It’s a daunting task, but it’s the key to a prosperous career within the guidelines of one’s artistry.

In a country where public opinion is the undisputed truth, the response to his songs has been palpable. Even the naysayers have taken notice.

Timmy’s a man of a few words. Until recently, he had done very few interviews. Instead, he’s allowed his music do the talking. The tome 48 Laws of Power says there’s value in scarcity. Russell Hughes, a motoring enthusiast based in Gilgil has entered a 1952 Ducati 65T in the CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance which is scheduled for mid-September at the Nairobi Racecourse.

This is the first time a Ducati will be appearing in the Concours which has been organized annually by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club since 1970.

The Ducati was originally owned by a coffee farmer in Kitale but very little is known about the bike’s history. Russell found the motorcycle totally dismantled in the store of a shop in Gilgil and bought all the components as a restoration project.

Other motorcycles of the same era which will be ridden around in Nairobi Racecourse parade ring during the Concours include Ted Wanday’s 1956 BSA C10 and the 1960 BSA of Andre Antoine. Both these competitors have contested the Concours in previous years, but they can expect a strong challenge from Russell Hughes.

Russell  has prepared every part of the Ducati separately and is now painstakingly rebuilding this Italian machine. Together with his brother Mikey he is also sourcing old equipment and machinery for the Heritage Collection which has become an appealing additional attraction of the Concours.

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club holds the annual Concours to reward the owners of  classic and vintage cars and motorcycles with the opportunity to show their treasured machines to enthusiasts and their families at the event. In addition they receive assessments of their entries from highly experienced judges. They also have the chance of winning awards for the top places in 20 classes for all makes and types of cars and bikes.

The regulations for the CBA Africa Concoursd’Elegance are available on the event website www.concourskenya.com.

Among the latest entries to be received are the 1961 Volkswagen Karman Ghia coupe of DJ Adrian and Tumaini Muthiga’s 1970 Austin Mini and 1982 Peugeot 504. Ronald Walusimbiof Uganda will be showing a 1972 Mercedes Benz. Another entry from Uganda is the 1970 VW Beetle of Leslie Carvell who is based in Jinja and will be competing in the Concours for the third time.

Commenting on the Concours entries, Lucy Mungai, the Concours Secretary, said, “Car entries are heading for the 60 mark and there is a steady increase in bikes. To ensure the highest possible standards of judging, car entries are limited by the regulations to 70 and the maximum for motorcycles is 40. There is every indication that we will have a full house before the closing of entries early in September.”

Children are a constant reminder of just how fast time flies.

Disgraced Rhumba star Koffi Olomide has been ARRESTED back in his Country, the Democratic Republic of Congo,the BBC reports.

The singer who was deported back to Congo over the weekend by Kenyan authorities has been having a rough time after he was caught on camera kicking his FEMALE dancer after an argument at the JKIA shortly after his arrival into the Country.

Koffi Olomide is smack in the middle of countless controversies due to his assault at JKIA but truth be told his daughter is so damn pretty.

The Rumba legend recently showed off his daughter who is commonly called ‘Didi Stone’ as she turned 17 and we can already tell, this girl could have a future in modeling or at least fashion blogging.

Plus I’m sure the fact that she lives in the fashion capital of the world has had a major influence on her style.

I remember thinking that I would never live to celebrate my 25th birthday, and if I did, I’d be nuts. Like literally a Mathare case. looking back now all I can say is the devil is a liar!! Look at ALL what he didn’t want me to enjoy! A career that I love, a family I adore, and an opportunity to encourage so so many young people. Don’t believe the -ve whispers that sink you into depression. Don’t believe them at all. You have to know that your future is absolutely bright. And the bigger your struggle appears to be, the greater your future is. So give thanks even in times of hardship because success and happiness is just around the corner. I love you all, and wish you all the very best that life has to offer.”

Apparently Victor Wanyama is assisting Kenyan footballers join him in the club of stinking rich footballers!

Victor Wanyama is arguable Kenya’s most successful football player. The 25 year old footballer struck a multimillion shillings deal with Tottenham Hotspur F.C that will see him pocket a cool Kes 9 million a week.

Wanyama is also keen to see other Kenyan footballers join top flight football leagues in Europe; he assisted former Gor Mahia striker Michael Olunga land the Swedish deal.

Olunga left Gor last year after he struck a deal with Djurgardens football club in Stockholm. Apparently it was Wanyama who hustled for him to get a club in Europe.

“Apart from hard work and determination I am grateful for my mentor and model Victor Wanyama who took it upon himself to send my video clips to his agent abroad and through the latter I landed the lucrative deal in Sweden.”

Mike Sonko has made announcements that would sure send jitters down the Jubilee camp.

The Nairobi senator has indicated his willingness to decamp from Jubilee and join CORD. This comes after a couple of Jubilee insiders had questioned his loyalty in the recent past. At the burial of the father to Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, Mike Sonko said,  

“It is on record, there is no other politician who has walked with Kalonzo like me in support of him being the president. People are telling me to come back home, but if you want me to do that then Kalonzo has to be the flag bearer of Cord.

“Apewe bendera sahii na sasa hivi nitahama I support him,”

The Senator shift given his popularity, resources and pull could be quite a coup to CORD which has been bleeding members recently.

For close to three months about 100 schools have gone up in flames. This has led to a lot of angst and despair among stake holders with the MoE particularly the Cabinet secretary coming under intense criticism.

Various theories have been offered but perhaps the most viable one is from the students of a school in Kisii Nyamache Boys High School. The school got national prominence not just because they also had their school on fire but also the manner and context in which this was done. The education cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi had been at the school leading quite a powerful delegation including local leaders for a fundraising.

He has also talked about the issue of strikes, when the fundraising was done and the CS and other dignitaries left. Most had hardly arrived when the school went up in flames.

Many have used this incident to point that Matiangi’s high handedness is to blame. However, the students point the blame elsewhere, for Nyamache students, the principal had promised special food but after the guest left, that was not forthcoming and chaos erupted as students used the opportunity to complain about that and other issues like strict rules.

“Everyone was irritated. They kept discussing that matter. When the administration was told, it didn’t take it seriously. So, after eating what was there, we went for entertainment. A short while later, we were shocked to realise that a fire had started ,” A student speaking to Nation is quotes saying.

This argument backs the school of thought that this whole burning dorms trend has a number of teachers involved in attempt to shift the blame to Matiangi whose strict approach has seen a number of rogue teachers pay for their erratic ways.

The deceased was yesterday stabbed several times in the stomach by her boyfriend who then tried to commit suicide.

A ghastly incident in Kahawa Wendani has left many wondering what has come of lovers nowadays. A 30 year old man identified as Maxwell Okoth stabbed to death his 22 year old girlfriend, Edinas Nyainda.

The deceased was a fresh graduate from Kenyatta University (she graduated on July 15) while the boyfriend is said to be an ex soldier.

Maxwell and Edinas were embroiled in a bitter argument before sharp screams were heard coming from their house.

Witness say they heard commotion coming from the house at around 3am in the morning. The watchman called police after Maxwell threatened to stab him when he went to check what was happening in house.

Maxwell reportedly ended his girlfriend’s life after he couldn’t stomach news that she was leaving her; he stabbed her 30 times in the stomach.

He then tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach but police arrived just in time to save him.

Police had to force their way into the house as Maxwell wouldn’t open the door which was locked from inside. The deceased body was found soaked in a pool of blood while Maxwell was lying down reeling in pain from the self inflicted wound in his stomach.

Forget Saleh Wanjala clinging on a chopper, he finally flew to Nairobi in a comfortable jet!

41 year old Saleh Wanjala became a sensation after he hitched a ride on a chopper carrying the remains of slain businessman Jacob Juma.

Saleh ‘dandiad’ the helicopter as it was taking off from Posta Ground where it had landed to bring the body of JJ for public viewing.

Businessman Joseph Waswa had offered to fly Saleh to Nairobi after it emerged that the Bungoma ‘James Bond’ decided to cling on the chopper because he had never been near an aircraft leave alone flying in it.

Mr. Waswa yesterday flew Saleh and his wife to the capital aboard a local airline. ‘James Bond’ had lunch with the businessman at a city hotel before he board a plane again to head back home.

She knows who infected her, when exactly she was infected, where she was when she got infected, and why she got infected with HIV.

21st International AIDS Conference was held in Durban, South Africa from 18^th to 22^nd July 2016. One of the speakers, 27 year old South African lady, Lebogang Motsumi, attracted global attention when she revealed how she contacted HIV virus.

Motsumi defies the stigma associated with persons living with HIV virus. Without her confession, you wouldn’t even imagine she’s positive given that she’s a healthy looking woman who has amazing curves.

Anyways, Motsumi told delegates attending AIDS conference in Durban, how she contacted the HIV virus.

She disclosed she got the virus from a ‘blesser’ (South African equivalent of Kenyan ‘sponsor’) who was 10 years older than her.

“It was August 15, 2009, at 1:00pm. I was so ignorant. I thought HIV had a face, thin, poor and dying and I wasn’t that face.” Motsumi recounted.

The HIV activist has launched a spirited fight against blessers in South Africa, a country with more people with AIDS than any other country in the world.

With a double digit HIV prevalent rate, AIDS is a serious concern in South Africa as it’s estimated every week some 2 000 South African women between the ages of 15 and 24 contract HIV.

The spread of AIDS can only be mitigated by the likes of Motsumi who are unshaken in their quest to ‘finish’ blessers and empower the youth on the need to live a healthy HIV free lifestyle.

Recently, the Kenyan media highlighted the plight of Abshir Salat, a 10-year-old boy from Wajir who suffers from a rare condition called ichthyosis.

Abshsir who is currently admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital was flown to Nairobi after Kenyans intervened under the hashtag #SaveWajirKids.

Today we look at some people who have rare conditions whose stories touched the world:

1.Ari Wibowo

18 year old Ari Wibowo form Indonesia has a skin condition called Erythroderma. A rare condition that causes the skin all-over the body to peel off

The skin peeling off in scales or layers happens every 41 days since he was born and due to this, he has been dubbed ‘Snake Boy’

To manage this condition, Ari usually applies moisturizer 3 times a day and soaks in water for at least an hour to prevent his skin from falling off.

The condition has not only caused vision problems but has also caused deformity in his hands

2.Butterfly Boy

Jonathan Pitre is a Canadian boy whose skin can fall off at the slightest touch since he has a severe case of a condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa.

The condition has left him with blisters all over his body and in incredible pain.

Children with Jonathan’s conditions are often compared to Butterflies as their skin is as sensitive as the wings of a butterfly.

Doctors had predicted that Jonathan would live until 20 years as children with a severe case of this condition usually succumb to skin cancer. But there is a ray of hope as a blood and marrow transplant could stop the disease.

Jonathan Pitre is expected to travel to Minnesota to begin the transplant at the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Children’s Hospital; the only hospital in the world that offers this kind of procedure for people with EB.

3.Lizzie Velasquez

An 8 second video calling her ‘The World’s Ugliest ‘woman catapulted her into fame and led to an intense case of cyber bullying. From people asking her to kill herself to other cruel taunts, Lizzie was harassed online because of her appearance due to her medical condition

Lizzie has Neonatal Progeroid Syndrome a rare disease which means she was born without any adipose tissue meaning she has zero body fat.

Thankfully Lizzie has managed to rise above the negativity and bullying and has become a reputable motivational speaker and an author.

4.Adalia Rose

Adalia suffers form a rare genetic condition called Pregoria which causes loss of hair, kidney failure, severe weight loss, stiff joints and premature aging. Other symptoms include a small face with a shallow recessed jaw, and a pinched nose.

Currently Adalia is a You Tube sensation with over 100,000 subscribers.

5.Mathew Hogg

Every time he consumes sugar or carbohydrates Mathew experiences episodes of debilitating drunkenness, tipsiness and severe hangovers.

This is because he has a rare condition called auto-brewery syndrome where his body turns food into alcohol. Basically his body is a walking brewery.

Due to this condition, Mathew has been unable to pursue sports, pursue his course in computer science and he is unable to work.

He currently runs The Environmental Illness Resource, a website dedicated to explaining rare conditions.

Aside from the usual politician suspects, it is the political songs done by artistes that also add to the drama and this time it is no different. It may be pretty early but one artiste has already done a song in praise of Uhuru Kenyatta. Kayvoh Kforce may not have been the artiste you expect to do such a song but he has just released a new song ‘Muigai’.

In essence it is a song about his rap skills and place in the society but it does end up extolling the skill and proficiency of the presidency to create a platform for comparisons. Done with pretty dope hip hop betas it may not yet reach the mass action call level of Unbwogable but its refrain ‘Muigai’ can sure chat up a youth segment of the crowd.

Over the weekend popular gospel artist Gloria Muliro laid her loving father to rest.

It was a touching ceremony given the relationship she had with the father. However, it was not just all mourning but rather a celebration and testimonial of her late father. She was not alone in the whole ceremony as family, church members and fellow gospel musicians stood with her.

ZIFF 2016 has seen over a week of film screenings and special events enjoyed by over 60 visiting filmmakers alongside hundreds of invited guests and thousands of Zanzibaris and visitors.

The Old Fort was the backdrop for the exciting Awards Night event that also saw the announcement of the theme and dates for ZIFF 2017, ZIFF’s 20th anniversary edition – FINDING JOY, July 8^th – 16^th 2017.

East African films dominated the awards, with Rwanda’s A Place for Myself winning three awards; The Sembene Ousmane Award, The Signis Prize, and the Golden Dhow for Best Short Film.

Kenya’s Watatu also was recognized with 3 awards, including the coveted Golden Dhow for Best Feature Film, the Signis Prize and sharing the European African Film Festival Award alongside the Kenyan film Zawadi that also won two awards.

Directed by Nick Reding and, the film, Watatu, made by Kenya’s leading arts for social change organization – SAFE Kenya – examines the rise of radicalization amongst young Muslims in Mombasa. Part drama, part documentary, and written in part by the citizens of Mombasa.

Directed by Richard Card – David Kinyanjui, Zawadi is a short film that tells a story in the Kenyan slums of Kibera where a ten-year-old boy hustles to provide for his family, taking him away from his crush on her birthday.

A Place for Myself, from Rwandan filmmaker Clementine Dusabejambo tells the of a five year old albino girl, Elikia. Due to her skin color her classmates make her realize that her being ‘different’ is more a problem than a special trait. While the neighborhood treats her as a stereotype, her mother encourages her. Together, they fight back and raise their voice to find a place for themselves.

Kagwe Mungai has been one of the freshest voices to hit the music industry and as years go on he is quickly carving out a niche as a leading influencer.

His talent both in production and singing has seen him experiment in different sounds many which have been well received. However, it is performance and charm that has seen him be adored by many despite the infrequency in releasing songs. It appears it runs in the family. On Saturday all roads led to the Swanky Kiza lounge located in Galana plaza in Kilimani. Chimano of Sauti Sol was celebrating his 29^th birthday and he wanted all his friends there with him.

Initially it was supposed to be a small gathering with few friends and family but no, not when you are a member of the biggest band in the country. Just know it’s going down as people showed up in droves. Dressed to kill and ready to have a major throw down.

After struggling to get parking, I finally got in to fully packed house, with great music bumping the speakers and with drinks flowing in plenty. I could see some Caucasians dancing at the corner having a time of their lives trying to dab and failing terribly at it, nobody cared though, as long as they were having a good time.

There was also P-Unit chilling at the VIP making Kalekye Mumo burst in laughter and Tracy Wanjiru making heads turn as she passed. What about Chimano himself who seemed to have activated his flamboyant persona in full effect? I can’t also fail to mention Sauti Sol’s publicist Anyiko Awoko who definitely took the outfit of the night, but I think Bien’s girlfriend Chichi took it….but what I’m I saying, everyone looked absolutely fantastic.

Police have stormed into estates and interrupted ‘Project Xs’ before. But planners it seems are getting creative with their ideas. Like these guys decided to have a major throw down in a moving bus.

Police in Thika last Saturday arrested six students and three teachers of Mwangaza Mixed Secondary School in Kariobangi who were in a Githurai 45 bus heading to Ol Donyo Sabuk for a school trip.

What police discovered perked up memories of the infamous Project X which gave parents and authorities a throbbing headache.

Police stopped the bus as it was heading to Thika town because of the loud music and ungodly chants that seemed to be emanating from the bus.

On inspection, police discovered some students were in an alcohol state of mind and one of the girls was in her birthday suit. Mind you there were teachers in that bus.

Several bottles of wines and spirits and more than ten liters of chang’aa packed in polythene bags and a five-liter jerry can were also discovered in the bus.

The clever students had mixing the illicit liquor with Malta Guinness drinks to disguise them as legal drinks.

The drunk students, their teachers, the bus driver and his conductor were immediately arrested. They are expected to be arraigned in court today.
