“We Presented A Concept Of A TV Show, You Stole It, Made It Your Own And We Are Suing You So Hard For It” KTN Put On The Spot Over Upcoming Reality TV Show

KTN’s upcoming reality show has been met by a major stumbling block even before it officially premiers!

Pillar Praise Production is suing KTN over copyright infringement of their kid’s reality show dubbed “Kids Can Sing.”

The production approached Ghafla! claiming KTN had ‘stolen’ their concept for “Kids Can Sing” to produce their own show dubbed “The Sing Outwhich is yet to premier on KTN.

According to Pillar Praise Production, they approached KTN to pitch the idea about “Kids Can Sing” to have the show air on KTN. KTN promised to look for sponsors for the show but they didn’t get back to them, instead they came up with ‘The Sing Out’ which Pillar Praise Production claims is the same concept as ‘Kids Can Sing’.

The local production says “Kids Can Sing” was shot last year (complete season) adding that they had copyrighted the idea as literary work in 2014 and as audio visual in 2015.

Three weeks after they pitched the idea at KTN, Pillar Praise Production were shocked to see a TV promo on KTN advertising for audition for the same concept.

The audition was held at Standard Group headquarters on Mombasa Road on 23rd July 2016.

Pillar Praise Production proceeded to file a lawsuit against KTN after their attempts to contact the station over copyright infringement failed to bear fruits.

Ghafla! contacted the head of TV Production and Creative at KTN and she indeed confirmed the station was aware of the allegations being made by Pillar Praise Production.

She said KTN receives many unsolicited concepts and that they have always respected the efforts and creativity of individuals.

She made it clear KTN hadn’t infringed on any copyrighted material stating that most creative concepts or ideas have many commonalities, citing the case of “The Voice”, “Pop Idols” and “Got Talent”.

“It should be noted that KTN has previously had a very similar competition ‘My Kid Is A Superstar’. If at all, we relied on our very own conceptualisation and execution of the format. In addition, we’ve also had numerous singing talents in our long running Club Kiboko kids series.” The head of TV Production and Creative at KTN told Ghafla.

She further added that allegations by Pillar Praise Production were wrong and grossly unfair to all the young, creative producers they have internally at KTN who work hard to put out TV shows.

Forget Kenya’s KFCB, Tanzania’s BASATA Bans Nay Wa Mitego From Releasing Music For An Indefinite Period

Ezekiel Mutua may be the de-facto public enemy number one in Kenya but he is certainly not close to what is happening in Tanzania.

In Tanzania from the presidency down to the chieftaincy, everyone is a moral police officer. Our brothers even have a licensing organization that registers the artists and can ban them from producing any works if they felt like it. Can you imagine the absurdity of all that? Well, Tanzania’s Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa has banned Nay Wa Mitego from producing any form of music for an indefinite period of time.

The Hip Hop artist whose real names are Emmanuel Elibariki has been banned for a number of reasons and also required to undertake a number of measures in efforts to earn back his license to produce music. The issues raised mainly come from his song ‘Pale Kati’ which the council said was released without having been brought to the council for reviewing of its content.

The artist is also charged with having proceeded to produce content not suitable for general viewing and which goes against the laws and ethics of the land. He is required to re-edit the song and apologize to the nation for his actions and wait until such a time that the council will be sure he has mended his ways and is fit to resume producing any form of works.

NACADA Director and Musician Jaguar Visits His Father in Rehab Where He Is Battling Alcohol Addiction (Photo)

Jaguar usually puts up a happy front but away from the glare of the cameras, he suffers a distressing battle many Kenyans can relate to.

The emotionally draining and physically tasking battle of helping a father who is addicted to alcohol.

But despite this, Jaguar maintains an upbeat disposition and believes that his father’s battle with the bottle is nearing its end.

“Visited the Serenity spring center; A drug rehabilitation center in Nyeri where my Dad is currently undergoing rehabilitation due to alcohol addiction. It has been a long journey battling the addiction but I believe He is finally overcoming it.” He captioned the photo below:

Kush Tracey: The TRUTH About Me and Timmy Tdat

After close to three months of dating, Kush Tracey and Timmy Tdat went their separate ways.

Kush went on to reveal on Instagram that they called it quits after Timmy allegedly got physical with her and taxi-drivers had to intervene before Tracy got beaten.

In an interview with Ghafla, Tracey revealed that she does not miss the ‘Welle Welle’ hit maker despite their torrid lover affair.“I’m good I don’t miss him” she said before insisting that there is no bad blood between the two despite what transpired and she would still work with him as she is a professional;

{youtube}iCw_LFh2YcI{/youtube}

Timmy on the other hand refuted claims that he got physical with Tracey outside 1824. He said that they had an argument but he never laid a hand on her. And if he did, there should be evidence that he actually beat her since 1824 has CCTV cameras and someone would have without a doubt captured the altercation on camera.

He also said that he has no beef with Tracey and kind off misses her presence in his crib but he is enjoying the freedom that comes with being single:

Why Nonini Is The GOAT

For those who might not understand, GOAT is an abbreviation use to mean ‘Greatest Of All Time’, not an actual goat. As Kenyans, we don’t celebrate our artistes enough. Look closely and you will realize we have had a couple of geniuses along the way but we never really took them seriously. If I was asked ten years ago, who the greatest mainstream artist of all time was, I probably would have paused for a moment, thought up a few names, gave my answer, and then wondered if that was who I meant to say.

But with everything that has happened since the beginning of his career to where he is at today and what his future holds, I can easily, emphatically an proudly hold he uncontroversial opinion that Nonini is the greatest to ever do it. No one ever pushed boundaries and challenged social norms like he did.

Of course, many fans and critics will dispute the statement—some yapping about artistes with higher social media and numerous awards; others complaining of slept-on underground artists possessing more skill and style; and then the biased haters who will simply disagree and rant ‘‘Etemesi you are drunk’’ without much explanation.Let’s face it, the majority of today’s music fans have very little respect or care for the pioneers who paved the way. By that’s totally wrong. So if you started listening to music not more than five years ago, sit down and take history lessons.

No one had balls like Nonini. He said bold, shocking and funny things in his songs, at a time when it was taboo to even mention the word ‘sex’ in public.

Take the intro lyrics from the track ‘Hunipati’ for example:

Manze sija pata manzi miaka ka tano,
Nikona manzi tu hivi naona sura yako,
Yule nilipata alikua ananuka jasho mbaya,
Ikabidi nime muhepa,tu lakini sikwa ubaya,
Nikangukia Fulani hapo, alikua bonge la pua,
Vile ameumbwa  maze huyo manzi anashutua,

Or his second verse as he tries to explain to girl why he slept with her friend:

Mi hiyo siku nilingia tu hivi kwa nyumba,
nika enda strait kwa kitchen, jo nikaanza kula,
baada ya kula, kwa bed mi huyo nika ruka,
chafua bed sheets, tuna zirusha rusha,
Chafua nah ii pande ingine ana niuma uma,
Sa mi ningejua aje, beshte yako ndiye alikua ndani ya bed, na we ulikua ume enda kukatika Carni,
Si we unajua tu vile naku like tu Daniella, na nikiona huyo beshte yako mi nitamwambia kwenda,
Kwasababu dunia nzima hakuna manzi mi napenda,
Isipokua mtoto wangu tu Daniella!

It was in the mid 2000s that ‘local music’ was at its peak. It was the best time for anyone to be a musician due to its popularity and the explosion of fans that turned to the music. It was also a time in which the most prolific artists were making a name for themselves.

You can make a case at how successful someone like E-Sir would have been if he had the chance to produce more albums and music. On paper, E-Sir surprised me with his wit and skill. He excelled in narrating his words carefully. As simple as the rhymes may read in most of his songs, the South – C native had a knack for filling in sentences with the right words to keep the story flowing. He was the voice of mainstream music and on his way to be the undisputed greatest lyricist ever before his unexpected death in 2003.

Despite his rise to stardom, the limited number of songs E-Sir released is both a positive and a negative in his standing as the greatest. E-Sir left us at the apex of his brief career and the thought of how much better he could have been will always leave fans and critics wondering, unfortunately however, not knowing to what heights.

His music is timeless, but can we solidify him as ‘The Greatest’ 20 to 30 years from now? Did he leave us with enough material to gauge how great his music was as time goes on? How far can ‘The Greatest’ discussion progress when other lyricists today are reaching or may have surpassed his accomplishments? To label him the best ever falls short. With all due respect

noniniiiiiiiiiiiii

E-Sir lived his life as a modern day Shakespeare. His words were never forced; every word written in his songs defined his message. He wrote rhymes that were reminiscent of the old school format but the content was never simplistic. This particular writing style made it easy for him to be versatile in the kind of songs he wanted to do. With high energy and melancholy songs in his collection, E-Sir reached people in a personal way. He was a party lighter but also compassionate and prophetic.

No other artist moved fans more than E-Sir. This is the one aspect that made him the people’s rapper. It is because of this that so many consider him the greatest of all time. But does his post-death fame still hold firm against others who have one much better in the game?

What about someone like Jua Cali? His success stems from his great ability in storytelling, narrating, and creating imagery with high-level wordplay. His aggressive flows and word-blending delivery is like a verbal machine gun, words shooting alphabet bullets in slow motion. With this in his repertoire, he is very much the complete lyricist. But does he measure up?

And Nameless? While I think the emotional factor is lacking in his rhymes compared to the other artists, he builds strength and character with his self-portrayal. It isn’t the aggressive nature that we tend to notice from other mainstream artistes but the confident nature that we see oozing from him. If there is one lyricist who masters the narcissistic persona to perfection, it is definitely Nameless. He can also boast of longevity since he is still producing hits today while others have gone clueless

But does this altogether secure him as the greatest ever? NO. Nonini Is The Greatest

His sudden impact came when he released a song titled “Manzi Wa Nairobi” . The buzz over his controversial lyrics rhyming was widespread. Critics and listeners were raving over the music.

.I remember how people ha crammed Nonini’s lyrics in primary school. Those were the days when we use to cut out lyrics and pictures of artistes from newspapers and sick them in books. Despite his explicit nature, Nonini still got plenty of airplay and became a mega-celebrity both to the young and old.

This is a guy who manage to write whole songs about sex but still made them beautiful bangers. Tracks like ‘Kuta Vitu’ and ‘Mtoto Mzuri (the original)’ a something else. He is also responsible for ushering in one of the hottest Kenyan groups of all time – P-Unit.

Like E-Sir, Nonini was a poet, but of a different kind. The kind your mama woul hate

E-Sir was straight to the point with his messages —natural and direct. Nonini utilized storytelling with wordplay, controversy and emotion. Both artists exhibited a personal element in writing through their music and it reached people.

Nonini touched base on things that can be related to in our own lives and experiences like getting drunk in “Keroro” and asking a chick to come over to your keja in “We Kamu”. What about our Friday behaviors in “Furahiday”? Nonini says things that make him relatable, and as we listen, we see parallels in our own lives. These intangibles are part of his artistry.

Longevity is one reason for Nonini’s greatness. He still releases good music though not as often. He is also one of the few artistes to embrace charitable ventures. His ‘Color Kwa Face’ campaign for albinos says it all. . Many artistes that were relevant back in the day have either stopped or lost the appeal of the fans for staying relevant. Especially as the years go on and the sound of Kenyan music continues to evolve and change. Nonini has managed to carry his music during the times and likely has gained new fans from a younger audience.

Nameless and Jua Cali have also crossed generations and modernized their music to be heard and appreciated. Both artists are also legitimately ‘Ironmen’ defined by their own accomplishments and accolades. I would agree that these three are among the top of the mainstream music mountain today..

Oh hail the godfather…

Dancehall Superstar Beenie Man Contracts The Dreaded Zika Virus Which Has No Known Cure

Beenie Man was denied entry into Canada after he contracted Zika virus!

For starters, Zika virus is a mosquito-transmitted infection which causes deformity in new born babies. There is no vaccine or medicine for Zika virus. Zika virus however can’t cause a mature human being to be sick enough to go to the hospital or to die, but its effects will be evident in affected persons’ offspring.

Zika virus is not airborne or transmitted via physical contact, there’s no risk of becoming infected with the virus from simply standing near an infected person. There has been one confirmed case of Zika spread through sexual transmission.

That makes you wonder why Canadian authorities denied Beenie Man entry into their country, or maybe they thought he was going to have unprotected sex with their women and sire kids who have Zika virus? Maybe……

Anyway, the Jamaican dancehall sensation had to cancel his Saturday night performance at Toronto’s OVO Fest, saying he was denied Canadian visa because he had contracted Zika virus.

“No visa fi mi Canada show. The same Zika mosquito gi mi dengue. Blood test, injections, pills. Wi a hol firm still.” Beenie Man posted on Instagram.

Begging To Be Banned? Sultry Dancers from the Coast Cause Uproar As They Expose Too Much Skin in a Steamy Music Video

We live in a country where even something as mild as ‘Nishike’ is banned and some crazy Jamaican videos are allowed on national TV

In recent years, we have seen the banning of P-Unit’s and Collo’s ‘You Guy’, the banning of ‘Wabe’ done by Gabu Ft. Dj Joe Mfalme & Frasha and the banning of Blaqy’s ‘Money Maker’ due to their explicit nature. Explicit in the sense that, the dancers ‘showed too much skin’.

Kenyans are now up in arms after coast musicians Sis P & Dazlah released ‘Uchoyo’ which features dancers clad in bikinis and lingerie and the lead singer herself in variety of bikinis and lingerie.

sis_p_and_daz.JPG

Here are some reactions to ‘Uchoyo’

khamisi Mohammed :ujinga khalid kazi gani mombasani hyo sipoa audio iko poa video mbovu umeniudhi khalid unadalilisha mama zetu

Agava Isabwa: The song is crap as my friend on the comments here has said. The song has nothing new to amaze about. Just a bunch of cliche words put together with a wacky beat that’s not even dance-able. The video is just a video. We have seen semi nude videos before and this is simply a copy cat of the answers. The whole thing is down the drain. All thumps down (sic)

NAITALE TV: Sasa imekuwa Hatari Dazlah hii Video si poa Kwa wetu wrote Audio uko poa but video si nzuri kabisa Juu Target Group not really on bracket of 0-18 years please kindly Change the visuality (sic )Na mavazi mazuri si ya uchi Kama hilo

Florence Kadzo:I love sis p but this video, hope board of music didn’t get to c the video Clip, vera sidika she dint exposé her body too much in the video but the video was burned (sic)ata mustafah his song was burned (sic)but I never saw anything wrong with the song, But this I can c everything navenye was waiting for the video am really disappointed

mtsumi45:Bure kabisa!! That’s why coastal music will go nowhere. I doubt if this video will be played in our TV stations.

Meet Dean Martin,Nairobi’s Number One Con Man. Are You Familiar With This Face? Has He Conned You Too?? (Photos)

You will find them across the City – From the malls to the streets to the buses to the cornershops to the alleys trying to con their silly little ways away.

They wear many coats. Some are treacherous lawyers, others land swindlers ,others cheeky beggars, others fraudulent traders and some, like in this case, sweet talking bastards who put on an genteel aura of confidence and proximity to influence in order to stealthily con you of your hard-earned money and even time.

Meet Dean Martin,a shrewd looking ever-smiling thug and seasoned con artist who owes half this city money for services he either never delivered or for paid up for through his little ka-company Club Life Kenya which boasts over 68,000 followers on Instagram.

He’s a young man,for sure. Probably in his mid or late twenties but still,a man whose been in the business of conning people long enough to start a school on ‘How to Con’.

According to his bio,98% of which is pure balderdash,he is a social media influencer, promoter and also events organizer. No big deal. Any rat can organize events in this town already.

He,according to,eugeneqaana, the bold blog that first exposed him,he loves to hang out at the VIP section of luxury nightclubs including Marabou Lounge and PRIVEE Lounge too in Westlands.

But even in Marabou Lounge, where he is a regular,he owes the management money too for services he was supposed to deliver but didn’t bother doing it.

You must have seen his pretty little scam face around a club you frequent – getting himself wasted on exported champagnes he bought with money he robbed you. Surrounded by bleached, brain dead bimbos who can’t tell the difference between the sun and the moon.

So how does he rob money? You ask. Well, pretty decently.

As I said, dude is a club promoter and therefore,he’s usually in the business of setting up random events in clubs across town featuring some washed-up B-list rappers from Nyayo Estate.

And then here’s where he excels at.

To publicize his ‘job’ across social media and show people just how successful his event was,he usually calls up upcoming photographers and asks them to grow up to the event (with their own equipment – lights and all) and take photos of the event.

These unsuspecting photographers then happily show up to the club, lens at the ready.

And after taking thousands if photos, from the Red Carpet entrance to the party itself,it’s usually a wrap for them.

Next day, this Dean Martin thug will be blowing up the photographer’s phone asking to be sent the pics via email.

He waits until he’s sent the pics and then the games start.

Once the photographer asks to be paid for his services, dude goes off. Like,Mteja.

And when he decides to spice up the games,he issues bouncing cheques and has been known to even call the bank after issuing a cheque and ask them to cancel the damn cheque.

Breathe in. And out.

Let’s go on.

deanblazer.jpg

Upon calling some guy named Bob,who is part of the Marabou management, the same high-end club Dean Martin loves to warm his butt,Bob tells me that this same dude has swindled the club over some serious cash.

“Do you remember when Zari was in Kenya? Zari Hassan wife of Diamond? We were hosting her at our club. It’s was a pretty expensive affair… Now,this Dean Martin guy told us that he would handle our social media publicity for Zari’s tour of Marabou. We paid him money and waited. We waited and waited and waited. And got nothing. He never pushed the event, never promoted it and never once tweeted or Instagrammed about it. And yet,we had paid him money up front. To date,he never picks up our calls. Or any calls for that matter… “

And sure enough,I tried calling the fellow and my calls were ignored a record 8 times in a row!

Also, this same scoundrel has conned popular Facebook personality Steve Muriuki of over Ksh. 20,000 the sum of which Martin was meant to pay Steve after Steve had used his space on Facebook to fervently advertise several of Dean’s upcoming events.

He waited patiently for the payment and, like the rest of humanity, had to contend with a stupid, bouncing cheque.

The list of the people that Dean Martin has scammed is longer than the queue of dudes who wait outside Ruto’s Karen home for handouts.

But in all of this, the fellow seems unperturbed and even, surprisingly unremorseful.

After being called by TUKO.co.ke to clear the air,this is what he arrogantly had to say ;

“I owe people money, yes, everyone does anyway, even Kenya has a debt but I don’t understand why someone would tarnish my name just because I haven’t paid them their KSh 2,000,”

And on the issue that he was on opportunist who sought Deejaying services but paid the DJ’s lesser than they were worth, Martin told TUKO.co.ke that most Dj’s were not as talented and did not deserve to receive the same amount that was paid to the top Kenyan Dj’s, read DJ Creme and Dj Joe Mfalme.

And according to eugeneqaana,Everybody who has worked with him has never been paid for their work. This includes DJs, Website Designers, Photographers, Security persons, even his own lawyer!

Yes. A true definition of an A.S.S.H.O.L.E.

deani.jpg

deee.jpg

We are still trying to reach the guy and put him on blast. While others are also trying to have him arrested.

Oh,and here are a couple of his photos,in the same cheap,Luthuli Avenue blazers he wears to pretty much every event.

Feeling sick yet?

Joyce Omondi Ballin In Billionaires’ Paradise In Europe (Photos)

Gospel singer Joyce Omondi is on a tour at the playground of the rich and famous in Europe!

While Waihiga Mwaura is at work on Citizen TV, his wife is having a great time enjoying herself in the tiny city-state of Monaco.

For starters, Monaco is the European capital of filthy rich billionaires and top cream celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo and the likes.

Joyce Omondi has been fascinated by everything in Monaco including the traffic in Monte Carlo (apparently the traffic is a scenic sight since the cars on the roads are mostly expensive sport and luxury cars.)

“Let’s just say that traffic in Monte Carlo is a beautiful sight!! Heh! There are lanes! Ferrari, ‎Bugatti, Lamborghini, Maserati, Mercedes, BMW. Wacha nitulie na Toyota.” Wrote Joyce Omondi.

What Has Become Of Kenyan Men?? Infertile Machakos Man Savagely Chops Off His Wife’s Hands After Accusing Her Of Not Bearing Children For Him (Photos)

He’s the one who is firing blank bullets yet he’s accusing his wife of not bearing children for him. And he went on to chop off her hands to express the frustration of not being a father.

34 year old Stephen Ngila Thenge is wagging on people’s tongues for all the bad reasons after it was reported that he chopped off his wife’s hands because she couldn’t give her children.

27 year old Jackline Mwende has been married to Stephen for seven years and the frustration of not having a child saw the couple separate for the last three months.

Mwende told Nation that her husband had moved out of their matrimonial home for three months but on that fateful day, July 24th, he returned home, opened the door and started slashing her with a panga on her head and neck.

Stephen had intended to kill his wife but neighbors responded to her screams and saved her just in time before her husband could end her life.

Mwende also told Nation that doctors told her husband he was the one who had issues with his reproductive system when they went to the hospital to inquire why they weren’t getting a child.

Stephen was advised to take treatment to correct his inability to impregnate a woman but he didn’t follow up on the treatment and instead he took his stress of being sterile with his wife.

Mwende is currently recuperating at Machakos Level 5 Hospital. Her husband was arrested by the police following the tragic incident.

GHAFLA EXPLORES: 5 Estates In Nairobi Where You Will Meet Women With The Fakest Accents

I am an adventurous guy. I stroll through all corners of Nairobi like I on the damn city. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why I am called the sheriff. Through my experiences, I have realized one thing. A good number of Nairobi ladies feel that having an accent is a powerful component to their overall attraction value. This is a misguided belief. The reason many attempt to suppress or shy away from their original voices is obviously a conformist instinct to want to fit in, blend in and look cool. Instead, they end up sounding like an old Irish person with flu.

Nairobi women mostly share the same self-doubts: “I’m fat”, “I’m past my prime”, “He doesn’t appreciate me for my mind”, “He’s going to use me”, My hair looks bad!”, “I’ve been single for too long”, “I hope guys can see how smart I am”, “I hope he doesn’t think I’m a easy”, “She’s wearing the same skirt as me!”, etc etc. And most importantly of all, “My accent doesn’t sound cool enough”.

In an effort to fix the latter, they try to sound different. Most of them end up overdoing it, but the worst case scenarios are found in these estates.

Westlands

Look around you closely. The most annoying female work colleagues, the most rude receptionist in fancy offices, the most confrontational, aggressive females in clubs all share two traits— they live in Westlands and they have fake accents.

Women in this hood are strongly obsessed with foreign celebrity culture and the high life even when they have no money hence the reason for their adapted sounds If you want a Westlands girl to revert back to her true accent, make her drunk. She will rant like a Kikuyu potato farmer from Molo.

Umoja

Here, you will find girls that look like Mugabe but talk like Theresa May. I literally want to shove paperballs in the mouths of Umoja girls every time I hear them trying to speak like they grew up in Nottingham. They have the fakest of accents. They are simply not experts at “pulling it off.” If you want to know if an Umoja chick’s accent is fake, just keep the conversation going for an hour. Once in a while, you’ll hear her shrubbing or giving up and going back to her Eastlando ways

Lang’ata

No woman in all of human history has ever sounded better with a fake accent than she would with a natural one. Despite this irrefutable fact, Lang’ata women are adopting cartoonish voices in greater numbers every day. You will hear them practicing their fake accents over the phone while seating in matatus during traffic jams. Their real accents always come out when the conductor delays with their balance.

In a way, Lang’ata guys can be put to blame. They are known to overspend on everything (many pay over 10K for shoddy looking SQs) and desire high class ladies that they can’t even maintain. So all these voice modifications by chicks there could be construed as an effort to blend invisibly into the muddying waters created by the males, so they can reap the benefits.

Nyayo Estate

The accents of Nyayo women are damaged beyond repair. Dear ‘Nyayo Estate’ women. Just because you have enough left-over attractiveness to remain approachable after incorporating autotune in your voices doesn’t mean you wouldn’t sound better without. That’s right. Some Nyao women are too much that they sound like Future or Alkaline.

Adams Arcade

Women who live along Adams even cough and sneeze with accents. Like “Oh my gosh…I just sneezed. Can you believe that?” Chicks from this hood have a burning desire for attention, but in our increasingly comoditized society, it’s becoming harder to stand out from the crowd. 200 likes on a semi-nude Instagram pic is no longer enough. There are girls that get 1000 likes on a pic yet they aren’t even celebrities . So chicks from around Adams have resorted to extreme measures to stand out.

This Is How To Spoil Your Queen! See The Hollywood Like Luxurious Birthday Party Victoria Kimani’s Nigerian Boyfriend Threw Her (Photos)

Victoria Kimani just revealed last week the man in her life.

The man known as Stanley is quite a big short in music production and of no little means especially when it comes to celebrating his girlfriend. He threw quite a lavish birthday party for his girlfriend you would have thought it was a music awards ceremony.

From the location, the Marion on Nicol in Johannesburg, to the number of guests the attendees, the food and all the five star treatment, you would have thought it was a honeymoon celebration. Here photos of the event;

And Now! The First Ever Exclusive Interview From Africa’s Dr. Dre, Beat Ya Keegah. Meet The Man,The Legend,The Mogul. (Photos)

Africa has her own share of heavyweight (pun intended) music producers and record label honchos… Most notable are Don Jazzy of the Mavins Supreme Dynasty,Raizer of Wasafi Records and also the production duo Legendury Beatz popular for most of those banging Wizkid jams.

And while most of them are based in Africa, and are responsible for some of the biggest hits in Africa (Adaobi, Utanipenda, Ojuelegba) others are based abroad,in Germany and London and in the USA,doing amazing production jobs that are leaving massive effects across Africa.

Weighing an outstanding 180 pounds and possessing an incredibly high IQ of 192,Beat Ya Keegah is one of Africa’s biggest music producers with a rich repertoire of work that covers all genres from Rap to R&B to Afro-pop and also Dancehall.

At only 28 years old,the music mogul has started to seriously shake the production field with a touch so fine,so smooth he reminds you of Babyface and Swizz Beatz all rolled into one.

You will remember him for the flashy wedding he did some couple months ago that shook the Internet – A wedding aboard a classy yatch surrounded by friends on a tropical island that cost him,by his own estimation, some roughly 100,000 dollars. Yes,that’s like Ksh. 10 million for you.

His credentials were more cemented after he masterfully produced the infectious smash hit ‘Now You Know’ done by rap legend Nyashinski. It’s now turned into an instant Kenyan classic and powerfully brought back Nyashinski to the game with a ferociousness not seen before.

In fact,Beat Ya Keegah has worked with and produced for pretty much all A-list Kenyan superstars from Nameless to Collo to Abbas to Mejja to Nazizi and even with the elusive and dangerously sexy Redsan.

Broke and jobless when he landed in America (he landed in America with only 3 dollars), Beat Ya Keegah managed to turn around his misfortune and penurious lifestyle into an earth-shattering luxurious Empire, rocking the World from one Coast to another and living a life so big,so fabolous Jay Z would wish to meet him.

Talking of Jay Z,the Hip Hop God is actually in talks with Beat Ya Keegah on how to have him (Keegah) join Tidal and upload all of his music there exclusively just like Usher and Prince and The Queen herself Beyonce!

Well, the successful master producer sat down with TVC’s Adam Maina,a renown Twitter personality and social media superstar to share his story, his pains, his plans, his past and his future.

It’s an interview that will blow your mind away.

From the medical condition he suffers from to the foundation he created, you are about to view Beat Ya Keegah in a whole new light.

 Below,check out the interview.

Who is Beat Ya Keggah?
Beat Ya Keggah or BYK is a Boston-based record label with continental coverage spanning the United States and a good chunk of Africa owned by Keggah Music. We have a host of A-List artistes under our umbrella; we’ve worked with every A-list celebrity and have millions of songs ready to be released… and a bunch of other talented artists I knew back at Harvard. Internationally, we’ve worked with the A list of Nigeria and almost every artist worth naming in Uganda and pretty much every top musician in Kenya. We made the songs your hearing now in Kenya years ago.

You recently held a flashy wedding aboard a yacht with a few selected friends. How much exactly did it cost?

Well, weddings are about celebrating the love between you and your spouse and making it a life-long memory between the two love birds, so you really can’t put a price on that. Love is priceless. But yes, we had an invite-only wedding on a yacht, so if I’m being honest, it’s not possible even for myself to know exactly how much I spent, even though I would take a wild guess and say a little over $100,000 maybe, I don’t know. It was all she ever wanted and she said “let’s do it even if we have broken up.”

Are you still married?
That depends, if by “married” you mean “do I have a functioning, loving family” then Yes.

13892215_526470050892670_2099643655413058721_n.jpg

Keegah and his beautiful family

Is it true you ran 13 companies and employed close to 3,500 workers?
Yes, and the number isn’t “close to 3,500”, they’re 3,568 employees. Big difference. All very hardworking, very committed, very gifted individuals who share in my dream and are willing to go out of their way to deliver in their respective departments. I want to spend time with my kids, find myself, so I have retired at age 28 to play golf and think about life.

What exactly do you deal in?
Mh…tough question. I make good music, I make top drawer videos, I have an online mini-series show that highlights kids with autism. I used to run several autism centers in the USA but I hired the best of the best and I quit. I also run a toy factory that manufactures and delivers free toys for kids with autism. I run a car dealership that deals in high-end cars. I’m glad to announce that my line of jets is also doing remarkably well. I run a communication firm that does most of BYK videos. So it’s a tough question you asked because it’s hard even for myself to pin it down to one hustle. Having said that, I like to see myself, not as a businessman or as a service provider, but as a changer of lives. If I could positively impact lives and make zero bucks out of it, I’d be a happy man still. I just opened a software company and I can automate any government or business process in Kenya.

You seem to have fallen out with rapper K Nel days after he was part of your groomsmen, what exactly happened?
Simple; Never bite the hands that feed you. Period.

How did you venture into music?
We are all born with music in us; you just have to decide whether you want to make music, or whether you’d like to consume music, or whether you’d love to do both. So I guess, the music bug bit me twice and I decided to do both! I started to produce music at age 3.

Which international artists have you worked with and on what projects?
Oh boy, so many, like I said when you listen to a song today we made it 2 years ago, like Now You Know. We destroy the element of surprise if we announce anything. Silence is a weapon. A few sites talked about my projects months before they dropped and reduced sales. We are in the process of signing up for Tidal. We will be releasing most of our music on Tidal. So that’s a big deal.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?
I do not consider one achievement as greater than the other. If I change someone’s life and the person appreciates, then that’s one in the box. If I make good music and the fans love it, that’s another. If a kid with autism can get help at my autism center, that’s huge.

What is your relationship with Kenyan artists?
If you mentioned 10 top Kenyan artists right now, I’m betting you anything, 9 of those are artists I have worked with Keggah Music. We keep constant tabs because music is a process and the production of, say, one Album for Nyashinski doesn’t end at release. We make sure they sell music, get the much deserved royalties etc. So I’m personal friends with every single Kenyan artist I’ve worked with.

You have been open about your Bi Polar condition, is this true?
Is what true? Is it true I’ve been open about my Bi Polar condition? You just said it, so, yes I’ve been open about it but I don’t have Bipolar we just wanted to get the stigma out of having mental health out of Kenyans minds. You see we tried having TV shows, radio interviews about autism nothing got the word moving. I was simply the first celebrity to stand up and talk about Autism. I have Asperger Syndrome/High Functioning Autism it’s the same diagnosis every other genius walking on earth has including Albert Einstein, Amadeus Mozart, Sir Isaac Newton and Thomas Jefferson. Am simply a pen in the hands of God and the blessings he gives me, I will share with the word but charity begins at home, Kenya. Genius May Be my only Abnormality.

You are in the process of writing a book, how did that come about?
As a matter of fact, I have written a couple of manuscripts, majorly on Autism and Entrepreneurship. 68 to be specific, after which, I think an Autobiography will be in order.

You seem to live large and speak of coming from a humble background, what is your story?
I’m 180 pounds so yes I’m living large! (No am not) My story is a brief one and it’s one anyone out there can replicate for themselves; Dream, Follow the dream, catch the dream. And when you do, share the success. I have an IQ of 192 and that’s the top 1%. I used my gift to help kids with Autism, I landed in America with 3 dollars, homeless and poor and I turned it into an empire. Glory be to God.

Your fetish for fast toys is evident, how many do you own?
I told you I own a dealership, so I own a lot of fast toys!

What’s the most expensive item / property you ever purchased?
Life. I think it’s the most expensive I’ve ever purchased. Life is priceless so I’m not done even paying the first Installment. Just taking it slow, one day at a time.

What motto do you live by?
My motto is: “Never live by a motto because it might restrict your limits and keep you from hitting the pinnacles you’re meant to reach”

Do you think you’re the next Beethoven Made in Kenya?

Blowing out someone else’s light bulb won’t make yours shine brighter. He was a genius in his times and I respect and love everyone living or dead.

Do you think you’re the best producer in Kenya?

You can’t build yourself up by tearing someone down so no I am not. Those guys are legends and I don’t expect the next Keggah who comes after me to insult me.

Kudos to Adam Maina for this illuminating interview!

Post-mortem Done On KU Graduate Reveals The Extent Of The Savage Physical Attack She Suffered On That Fateful Day

Her barbaric boyfriend must have been high on some powerful conscience-nabbing drugs to kill her in such a brutal way. Autopsy result shows the extent Maxwell Ochieng went to in making sure his girlfriend was dead.

The brutal murder of 22-year-old Edinas Nyainda is still shocking Kenyans given that the deceased was killed by the very person who ‘loved’ her.

It was reported earlier that Maxwell Ochieng had stabbed Edinas 10 times. (The deceased was found tied on the bed when the police broke into Maxwell’s house in Kahawa Wendani.)

But a post-mortem conducted by government pathologist, Dr Johansen Odour, revealed the worst in Edinas’ death.

Apparently Maxwell stabbed Edinas 22 times; the pathologist found 22 stab wounds on the deceased’s body when he did the autopsy.

The post-mortem report concludes that Edinas died of excessive bleeding from the stab wounds that were inflicted on her by her 36 year old barbaric boyfriend.

After the Closure of Nation FM and QTV, Now Your Favourite Entertainment TV Network Also Contemplating Shutting Down

Last month nation media group scaled down its broadcasting services in a move that saw a big number of job cuts and the closure of Nation FM and QTV respectively.

Now TV Cosmopolitan which was the new entertainment network, which filled thousands of screens around Nairobi with targeted news and entertainment content seems to be following suit. The station has seen the explosion of entertainment content expanding beyond the screens in our living rooms and on our mobile devices.

We have gotten information that TVC is being taken off line in what looks like a move because of the hashtag #TVCRelaunch which has been doing rounds on social media for the past few weeks. We don’t yet know if this is just a stunt, or TVC is changing channels, or going off the air entirely so just keep it Ghafla for more on the low down.

Miss World Kenya 2016 Loses Title Due To Misconduct in Personal Life

Kenya currently has no Miss World Kenya representative. This is after the office of Miss World divested the incumbent holder of the title.

Roshanara Ebrahim a law student has been dethroned following what the office termed as a ‘Grave Situation.’ The situation has raised a lot of eyebrows with many suggesting that this could be as a result of the relationship issues that have rocked the model since she was announced as the winner. The full statement from the Miss World Kenya Office reads;

PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE MISS WORLD KENYA OFFICE OUSTING ROSHANARA EBRAHIM AS MISS WORLD KENYA

Effective immediately, Roshanara Ebrahim will not be representing the country both domestically and internationally as Miss World Kenya.
A grave situation has come to our attention that is in breach of our code of conduct and our contract with the reigning Miss World Kenya 2016 Roshanara. We uphold a strict code of conduct that expects beauty queens to manage their public and private life.

On commenting to the decision, Roshanara accepted the decision and gave the idea that her personal life might have played a role in her dethronement. This was her response;

“It is with great sadness that I accept the decision of Miss World Kenya office to relinquish me of my duties as Miss World Kenya 2016. I urge aspiring beauty queens to ensure their personal life does not affect their role as Miss World Kenya. I wish my successor the best as we look to clinching top position in the Miss World competition later in the year,”

This Is What Fally Ipupa Did To Cleanse His Name When He Arrived In Kenya After Koffi Olomide Dented The Reputation of Congolese Musicians (Photos)

Fally Ipupa is in Kenya. And he’s keen not to be affected by the sins of his music godfather, Koffi Olomide.

For starters, Fally Ipupa started his career as a backup singer in Koffi Olomide’s band. He stayed under the guidance of Koffi for 7 years until he started to crawl on his own.

Fally jetted into the country last week for Coke Studio Season 4. The Congolese singer also had time to make an appearance at Laugh Festival last Friday night.

It was there that Fally talked to Kenyans about Koffi Olomide, he apologized on the behalf of the veteran Congolese singer who caused a storm in Kenya when he was caught on camera physically assaulting one of his female dancers at JKIA.

“Koffi is like my father, so I apologize to Kenya for what he did. I apologize to every Kenyan, every mother and every African. If your father does something wrong all you can do is apologize on his behalf. So from me to you, I am sorry.” Fally told the audience at Laugh Festival.

Why Did KOT Miss This? Governor ‘Massacres’ His Deputy With Barbaric Fat Shaming Insult After She Threatened To Strip Bare (Photos)

KOT was quick to blast Koffi when he physically attacked a woman. Crude misogynic insults should also warrant KOT whipping.

Kitui Governor Julius Malombe and his deputy Penninah Malonza have been embroiled in a brawl that has seen them fire at each other in public.

Ms. Malonza threatened to walk naked in the streets of Kitui during a public rally at Kisayani market, in protest against Kitui governor whom she accused of instigating her woes in the county government of Kitui.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Itoleka Mixed Secondary school, Malombe fired at his deputy describing her as overweight and physically unappealing.

The Kitui governor was not scared by his deputy’s threat to strip bare, he said no one would even bother look at her if she dared walk naked as she had ‘nothing to show the public’.

“I hear my deputy is threatening to undress in protest but even if she does that, no one will look at her twice because she is not worth drawing anyone’s attention,” Mr Malombe was quoted by the Nation.

Jail Is Not A Place For A Superstar: This Is Why Koffi Olomide Was Released Despite Being Sentenced To 18 Months In Prison

Sorry if you though Koffi Olomide would rot in jail for one and a half year, justice is lenient for the rich and superstars!!

Koffi Olomide was sentenced to 547 days in prison in a hurried court process after he was arrested and taken to court when landed in Kinshasa from Kenya where he was deported from.

The veteran Congolese singer was caught on camera assaulting one of his dancers at JKIA sparking public uproar that saw him kicked out of Kenya.

Koffi who was arrested and sentenced to a prison term on Tuesday 26th, was released from prison on Thursday 28th July. (He was the guest of the state for two days ONLY.)

But why did Congolese authority free Koffi??? Koffi’s lawyer told the press that his client was granted bail because he couldn’t flee from Congo to seek refuge in another country.

“Prosecutors granted bail to Koffi Olomide because he does not present a flight risk. The defence has shown that the singer has a known residence, is a famous music star and his principal interests are here in DRC.” Koffi’s lawyer was quoted as saying.
