Tharaka Nithi County literally won Uhuru 2013 presidency. How come people there are no longer receptive to the President and his deputy??

Renaming of roads in Chuka town, Tharaka Nithi County has caused friction between the national government and the county government.

The newly constructed roads were named after President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto, Senator Kithure Kindiki and Chuka/Igambang’ombe MP Muthomi Njuki.

The omission of the name of Tharaka Nithi governor, Samuel Ragwa, in the renaming of roads which was done by Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), is one of the reasons that caused dissention among residents.

Apparently there is bad blood between President Uhuru and Tharaka Nithi governor. Mr. Nithi skipped Uhuru’s visit to his county in 2013 saying he wasn’t involved in the arrangement of the president’s visit. (Just like what happened with Joho when Uhuru visited Mombasa without informing him)

Chuka residents woke up on Saturday morning to find road signs bearing Uhuru and Ruto’s names sprayed with black paint to conceal their names.

She’s loved and loathed in equal measure but that does little to deter from her mission which always seems to elude most of us. Is it just to elicit hype or is she genuinely fielding her opinion we find ourselves asking but before we can finish deliberating, Njoki Chege is at it again with a hard hitting opinion piece.

And she doesn’t discriminate who she attacks with most of her jabs in the past being aimed at Subaru drivers and plus sized women. She had taken a backseat for a while until she came back last weekend baying for blood.

Her target this time was the ostentatious Donald Kipkorir whom she blasted for his flashy lifestyle which he shows off on social media. She took it upon herself to school the accomplished lawyer on just how opulence looks like setting the interwebs ablaze.

Many a times a lot of targets have retaliated by referring to her as a mere journalist with minimal resources and who hides from reality in a column, a route Donald Kipkorir also followed. Most of them have also said she doesn’t come close to leaving the kind of life she proclaims as she is subjected to a one bedroom apartment somewhere along Thika Road.

True to that, she does actually leave on Thika road as Ghafla has confirmed. A few meters away from Roasters on your way to Garden Estate where rent is approximately 25K for a one bedroom, 40 K for a two bedroom and 55k for a 3 bedroom.

It was a very simple celebrity wedding, less than 30 people attended Collo’s private wedding on Kiambu Road.

Rapper Collo exchanged vows in a rather low tone wedding that was held on Kiambu Road over the past weekend.

Two celebrities walked down the aisle on Saturday in separate weddings; Collo and gospel singer Deno are now husbands.

Collins Majale (Collo) married his fiancée Phibby Ida in a wedding that was held at the Kenya Judiciary Training Institute.

The private wedding was attended by a handful of relatives including Collo’s cousin Mluhya wa Busia aka Krisoff.

Citizen Radio’s Uncle Fred Obachi Machoka, actor/presenter Maqbul Mohammed and Robert Burale were some of the popular faces that attended Collo’s wedding.

“Story Yangu” hit maker officially quit bachelorhood when he exchanged vows with his sweetheart in a colorful wedding ceremony.

Gospel singer Dennis Kariuki Karanja popularly known as Denno, walked down the aisle last Saturday with the love of his life, Faith Naliaka.

The two lovebirds exchanged vows at Good Shepherd Church on Ngong Road. The event a horde of well-wishers including celebrities.

Jesus is Alive Ministries’ bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Kambua, Bahati, Mbuvi popularly of “Kwata Kawaya”, Vicky Kitonga, comedian Ole Matope etc were among big names that turned up to show support to Denno.

Men’s 800m finals were held at 4am Kenyan time. A total of 8 athletes were on the track competing for three medals.

Three Kenyans made it to the finals of 800m; Alfred Kipketer, Nicholas Kiplangat Kipkoech and “King David”.

Rudisha was on lane 5, he was all composed as he waited for the gunshot to signal the start of the race. The race finally started and it was Alfred Kipketer who took the lead as he sprinted like Usain Bolt at the sound of the gunshot.

Kipketer comfortably led the first lap, he even managed to keep a safe distance between him and Rudisha who was on his trail.

But at the sound of a bell which signaled the final lap, Rudisha blew past Kipketer who was burning up like an old Isuzu on a steep vertical ascent in Sachangwan.

Rudisha’s long strides acted like some sort of turbo thrusters, he opened a huge gap between him and the man who finished second.

Kipketer was nowhere within the medal bracket, four athletes passed him while he struggling to fire up his ‘rockets’ to push him forward.

Rudisha cut the tape in 1 minute 42.15 seconds, he was followed by an Algerian and an American took the third spot.

“I dedicate this win to all my fans all over the world and above all to my country; Kenya. To all those who woke up at 4am to watch the race and for all your steadfast support throughout the years.” Wrote Rudisha after winning his second consecutive Olympic 800m gold medal.

The recent unveiling of the new Reverend Teresia Wairimu’s church in Karen has set tongues wagging.

The caliber and number of guests in attendance as well as the majesty of the new church were major talking points throughout the weekend and today morning. The event in the greenery of Karen drew a rich vein of guests from international celebrity pastors and evangelists to local political elite and members of the clergy and even the Judiciary had its members attending.

Going by the guest list, this will be the church attended by who is who in Kenya. While the youthful celebrities and nouveau riche may flock to Mavuno and others to the Kiuna’s Jubilee Christian Church, the real elite will surely be found in the new home where they can get a modern dose of Gospel unlike their usual traditional churches.

Controversial Daily Nation columnist claims Kipkorir is overcompensating for his lack of height with a big car!

Njoki Chege has been a little lenient with her unsolicited attacks but has Friday she went HAM on flamboyant lawyer, Donald Kipkorir.

In her article on Daily Nation dubbed “Wealth doesn’t announce itself on social media”, Njoki alluded that Kipkorir was another case of a man suffering from shortness syndrome.

The Daily Nation columnist claimed a man above 20 wouldn’t turn to social media to shamelessly display his fortune. She went on to say Kipkorir, just like men of his short stature, was trying to compensate for his shortness with the announcement of his big car arriving.

Kipkorir was obviously irked by Njoki Chege’s bashing and he decided to fire back at her. He claimed her unwarranted attacks were the reason why she lives in cheap apartments on Thika Road.

“Those, whose stock-in-trade is malevolent & spiteful hatred of success is reason they are & bloggers living in cheap apartments on Thika Rd!” Kipkorir tweeted.

Viral photo of slaughtered chicken spread all over on the floor next to a toilet caused panic in Nairobi. The dirty restaurant has been identified!

Some speculated doing away with chicken at fast food joints after seeing the viral photo of the hygiene insensitive restaurant.

UAP Towers in Upper Hill recently overtook Times Towers to be the tallest skyscraper in Nairobi. But the 33-storey building will not hold its record for long.

A number of beautifully designed skyscrapers have been proposed or are currently under construction in the capital.

Below is a list of skyscrapers that will revolutionize Nairobi skyline to mirror Dubai:

1. Britam Towers

Britam Holdings Ltd is building a unique skyscraper in Upper Hill. The 32-storey skyscraper will be complete by mid-2016.

The skyscraper has already muscled itself up in the sky to become one of the most visible structures towering Upper Hill area.

2. Hass Twin Towers

Excavation for Africa’s tallest skyscraper started in November 2015 in Upper Hill. Hass Tower will overtake South Africa’s 50-storey Carlton Centre in Johannesburg to be Africa’s tallest building.

70-storey Hass Tower/Pinnacle Tower will stand at 300m (980ft), 77m higher than Carlton Centre’s 223m (732ft). The project also encompasses a second tower which will be 45-storey.

The project designed jointly by Archgroup and Meinhardt Group, will consist of a 45 storied luxury hotel tower, a 70 storied office tower, class A retail space, a helipad and a parking.

3. Prism Towers

Architects must have had rough time designing this tower. Once completed, 34-storey Prism Towers will stand 133m in Third Ngong Avenue.

The building which is currently under construction will house world class amenities that includes; jogging track around the building, swimming pool and gym etc.

The unique design of Prism Towers makes it an architectural masterpiece that will forever shape Nairobi skyline.

4. Hazina Trade Center

The new NSSF-owned skyscraper will briefly be the tallest building in Kenya once complete sometimes this year.

The construction of 39-storey Hazina Trade Centre stalled for a while over a court dispute between NSSF and Nakumatt.

Hazina Trade Centre is located just behind Nakumatt Lifestyle in the CBD. It will be tallest building in Kenya, and the region for a while before Hass Towers takes the crown.

5. CBK Pension House

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Pension Scheme has laid groundwork for the construction of a 27-storey building next to the offices of the President, Deputy President and the Police headquarters.

The Kes 2.4 billion building will mainly house government offices even though there will also be space for private sector tenants.

Her name is Vanessa Wambui a.k.a Tisho who the Nyeri area OCPD Mr Masai Makau described as ‘one of the most feared.’

“She does not appear to be a criminal but she is one of the most feared. There is a likelihood that many more women have been inducted into criminal gangs since physical appearance does not give away a criminal easily.” said Mr Masai while speaking to Nairobi News..

But Wambui does not work alone, she works alongside her spouse Alex Mathenge and they have been robbing Karatina and Nyeri residents blind. But their reign of terror came to an end after police trailed and arrested them at Nyeri.

The police recovered a Ceska pistol with five rounds of ammunition that had been used for violent robberies.

Jackline Mwende has been the talk of the town since she lost both of her arms after her husband severed them in an atrocious attack in Machakos County. Since Mwende came out, many women are coming out to talk about the horrific attacks they have faced in the hands of the men they love.

One of them is Judy Mutava from Emali located along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

Judy Mutava recalls in pain about the dreadful incident which led to her losing her arms and a leg. Fighting back tears, Judy says that she asked her husband about an alleged ‘mpango wa kando’ to which the husband retorted with’ kama unataka bibi mwingine, enda ukamuoe, mimi sijui mambo ya bibi mwingine (If you want another wife, go marry her. I don’t know anything about another wife)

After the incident, Judy says that she feared for her life and that night she left their matrimonial home.

But she later came back. After her arrival in their home, she went to the toilet and when she was in the toilet she heard someone lock the door and thought it was her neighbor.

She then got out of the toilet and met her husband holding a panga which he then used to cut off her arm and slash her head. She fell in shock and after falling, he then chopped off her other hand and leg then left.

After the incident, Judy was taken to hospital but her leg could not be saved. The incident reduced Judy a vivacious trader at Emali, into a dependant as she now depends on her mum to help with tasks like eating and sleeping.

Her husband was arrested and is currently awaiting trial. Watch the rest of the story below:

American singer Mya touched down in Nairobi yesterday for the much hyped throwback concert dubbed ‘The Plot’ which will go down at The Waterfront, Ng’ong Racecourse on Saturday.

Jeff Koinage interviewed Mya last night on JKL and she revealed she was single and open to dating a Kenyan man who could cook.

Her statement awakened Team Mafisi who took to twitter to reveal the chefs they are. Multibillionaire Chris Kirubi and Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero were among those that expressed interest to have a date with the award winning artist.

“Jeff please tell Mya she must come and visit City Hall. The headquarters of Nairobi County.” Kidero tweeted.

As if to show Mya City Hall was nothing compared to his 1000 acre farm, Chris Kirubi offered to take the American singer to his farm and cook her meat on the shores of Lake Kirubi.

Apparently Chris Kirubi is working on a new mega project on his 1,000 acres coffee farm; Donald Kipkorir revealed this when he visited Kirubi’s farm last weekend.

Over the weekend, Alvin Kabogo was spotted having tons of fun and getting sloshed at the Brighton Pride Parade in the city of Brighton and Hove, England.

These pictures have caused a lot of excitement among Kenyans and people are still buzzing about it, 5 days later.So we decided to dig up a few things about the event, and this is what we found out:

1. The Brighton Pride is one of the biggest gay pride events in the world and this year was the biggest in its 44 year history. This year saw a huge number of 300,000 people attending the pride party.

2. Its an annual event organized by the Brighton Pride, a community interest company (CIC) who promote equality and diversity, and advance education to eliminate discrimination against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

3. It goes down in the first weekend of August every year.

4. One of the main aims of this pride event is to show support for the LGBT communities worldwide especially those who are not able to fully exercise their rights as homosexuality is criminalized in their countries. Or they have been victims of a homophobic attack such as the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting.

5. It is estimated that the whole event contributes about  £18 million(2 Billion Kshs) to the economy of the Brighton and Hove City.

The deceased was only a second year student who didn’t have anything of value that could benefit the gunmen who robbed him of his life.

Second year student pursuing Bachelor of Business Information and Technology at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) was shot dead on Wednesday by armed thugs.

20 year old Kenneth Ndung’u Kanyiri was on his way to the hostel in company of his colleagues when thugs hiding in the bush ambushed them.

The armed thugs pulled out their guns and ordered the students to surrender their bags which had laptops.

Kenneth was unfortunately shot in the head as he resisted attempts by the thugs to rob him of his lap top. The deceased was rushed to the nearby hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The body was taken to KU funeral home as police launched a manhunt for the killer gang.

The country is still reeling from shock after 27-year-old Jackline Mwende’s hands were chopped off over her husband’s infertility in Ilinge Village in Masii, Machakos County..

It is said that the couple had been trying to have a child for close to 7 years to no avail because the husband (Stephen Ngila) was battling with infertility and had refused to visit a specialist to have this condition rectified.

Ngila’s sister is now coming out to claim that her brother may have been wrongly accused.

Agnes Nthenge told The Star that when Mwende was attacked, she was with Ngila at her house in Utithini village when Ngila received a call that his wife had been assaulted.

“All I can say is we were with Ngila in my house planning a function for our elder brother when he was called and told that his wife had been attacked.” She said.

Justus Muthama, another relative of Ngila disclosed that this was not the first time Mwende was attacked.

“Before the attack, Mwende did not open her shop in Ilinge market for three consecutive days. We were told that for those three days she had gone into hiding in Wetaa market… There was another time a gang woke her up and hurled stones at her house after she refused to open the door.” He said before revealing who he thinks would have carried out such a brutal attack.

“She had other male friends who came visiting and whom we believe helped her stock her shop. We suspect one might have felt shortchanged and planned revenge.” he said.

However, Mwala DCIO Joseph Muguna trashed Stephen Ngila’s relatives’ accounts and said that the truth of the matter is that Ngila attacked Mwende .
