Gay author, Binyavanga Wainaina, has decided to make radical decision after he suffered misfortune in Kenya and Germany.

Sometimes in June 2016, Binyavanga Wainaina narrated how he was beaten silly by a racist taxi driver in Germany. The gay author travelled to Berlin in April to seek medical help; he suffered stroke in 2015.

Binyavanga has been struggling to get his lover, who serves in the Kenya Navy, to travel to Germany to meet him. His attempts failed to yield anything since the navy doesn’t allow servicemen to travel to Europe.

He was forcing to ask Kwani Trust Board to finance his trip to South Africa where he was set to meet his lover. But the board also refused to bulge to Binyavanga’s demand.

Binyavanga was compelled to make radical resolution following recent developments; he has resorted to settling in South Africa, a country he praised for having equality for all human beings.

 “I am finally, not coming home to Kenya to live after my stay in Germany in April. I will continue to live in south Africa.That is a country with big dreams for all its human beings. Kenya would rather see me dead, than live and love,” Binyavanga wrote on Facebook on New Year ’s Eve.

He also said he was taking time off Facebook because of the frustration he was suffering as a result of Kwani refusal to finance his lover’s trip to SA.

“Now. I am going off Facebook for that month that Kwani? denied me and my lover. We still have not met.”

 

A few weeks ago, Kenya’s literally genius Binyavanga Wainaina came out to expose the level of frustrations Kwani Trust board, an institution he founded was putting him through.

Apparently the board had refused to release funds from his medical fund which were meant to fund a trip for him and his Navy based boyfriend in South Africa during this festive season. This is what he posted online:

i am crying. I dont know what to do. I think the Board at Kwani is going to say no to me taking my – in-love to South Africa for a holiday using my Medical Fund. i have been in love with this man for five years. we have spent five days together. IN THE Past year. Even his post is dangerous for him. He is in the navy. He is very stressed. He was in Somalia. HE was supposed to travel and meet me in Germany this December. My fellowship DAAD was going to sponsor him. Unfortunately the navy does not allow people so low, to come to Europe. So i had the idea to take him to South Africa for a month. He needs me. That I have to come to social media is because i think they Board ARE being very cruel.”

Now it seems his woes are far from over and in that regard he has resulted to denouncing Kenya and resulting to settle in South Africa when he comes back from Germany in April next year. This is mostly due to the Boards action which seem to deter him from seeing his Navy boyfriend.

This is what he posted:

I HAVE FALLEN OUT WITH MY WHOLE FAMILY. I EVEN WROTE MY WILL SINCE I KNOW I CAN DIE ANYTIME. WHEN I ASKED THE BOARD OF KWANI TO FUND A TRIP TO SOUTH AFRICA, THEY KNOW NOT ABOUT MY DEPRESSION, BUT THEY KNEW THAT THERE IS NOTHING DOCTORS CAN DO ANYMORE. I CAN. DIE. ANYTIME. TO DENY ME TIME WITH MY BOYFRIEND, I CAN ONLY SAY THEY WANT ME DEAD OR THEY DO NOT WANT HOMOSEXUAL ME HOOKING UP.

This statement came before the writer announced that he might also be coming down with depression.

Gay author, Binyavanga Wainaina, is shedding tears after Kenya Navy restricted his boyfriend from meeting him.

Binyavanga Wainaina has been in Germany for more than five months; he travelled there to seek medical help following a complication he had back here in Kenya.

The prolonged stay in Europe has made Binyavanga feel lonely and in need for a loved one to offer comfort and pleasure.

The renowned author took to the social media to protest after his attempts to have his boyfriend travel to Germany to meet him were thwarted by the Kenya Navy.

He says he was forced to change his plan of meeting his boyfriend in Germany since Kenya Navy ‘forbids’ its staff from travelling to Europe.

Binyavanga’s second option of taking his sweetheart to South Africa is also in a limbo because he thinks Kwani Trust Board will fail to release funds to finance the trip.
