Only three African countries operate ScanEagle drones, and Kenya is one of them. The American-made unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is the latest acquisition by the Kenyan military.
Kenya has been caught unawares by the bad guys one too many times; it was perhaps the reason why the country’s armed forces decided to purchase a drone that will enable them keep an eagle eye on terrorists.
News about Kenya acquiring ScanEagle drones was first reported in February 2016, a few weeks after the bloody El-Adde attack.

By then the country was in the process of acquiring the drones; Business Daily reports that unknown number of ScanEagle drones were delivered to the Kenyan military.
The drones will enable the Kenyan military to conduct real-time surveillance in the battlefield at home and abroad.
Kenya, Cameroon and Tunisia are the only African countries that operate the American-made unmanned aerial vehicle.
