Revealed: This is why Royal Media Services might close down any minute from now

Royal Media Services is a privately owned Company, with one of the major directors being SK Macharia.

Now the man has found himself at loggerheads with members of his community, the Kikuyu and this is after he declared that Raila Odinga had won the 2007 elections and not Kibaki.

They issued an ultimatum that he should apologize in 14 days or else he would face the full wrath of the gods- that of being cursed.

Those 14 days have since elapsed and  as you read this,  100 Kikuyu elders are gathered in Ndakaini village, Gatanga, where they will place a curse on the businessman, saying he ‘betrayed his community’.

Murang’a county chairman Kiarii Rugami wa Chumbuu confirmed the said actions by the elders, adding that Macharia was in for some serious repercussions for his actions.

This is real. It is no joke. We gave him the mandatory 14 days to apologise to the community for exposing them to attacks by other communities especially in this electioneering period,” Chumbuu was quoted by The Star.

Now being a Kikuyu, I can tell a curse is one of the most dreadful things that can happen to you as it sets you up for great calamity. We can’t surely fail to put Royal Media, one of his vast businesses in the equation when it comes to the casualties.

Too far-fetched; yes, no?

Controversy and SK Macharia is like socialites and always slaying on their instagram posts- totally inseparable.

The man who is estimated to be worth 150 million USD is among the richest men in Kenya with vast interests in media, agriculture, Real estate and manufacturing.  What he lacked in hair he compensated with ambition having being brought in a humble background to grow up and become what he is now. He recently got awarded the lifetime achievement award by earnest and Young.

Now ambition calls for a heart of stone and the power to wield yourself whenever a heavy tide hits you something SK Macharia knows too well. He especially has a thing with presidents having started his first run ins in the 90’s with President Moi.

Meet SK Macharia in the full glare of controversy:

1>Moi was on a rampage to finish off the GEMA community and in the heart of it all was SK, who had just then come from abroad rearing to build his vast empire. He became a casualty of Moi’s onslaught something he was not about to take while lying down. He offered as much resistance and in the process ended up facing the long arm of government.

2>Now just yesterday before he made the contentious revelations that Raila won the elections in 2017, he had claimed before the Senate Committee that no election voting system works a 100% and we should disregard the whole debate all the same. I don’t know how nobody picked up that…..he just disregarded a whole process like it meant nothing- a process threatening to cause pandemonium in the county. If that’s not controversial enough, then I don’t know what is.

3>The fact that he comes from the heart of Kikuyu land, harbours the most Kikuyu name we have around, is part and parcel of the Kikuyu elite and still supports Raila beats me. I mean, how is that even possible?

4>He just recently lost a multi-billion land legal battle with Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin Ngengi wa Muigai where he and 3 of his business partners were accused of forging land documents and selling over 100 acres of land to Kenya-RE. This was in 1997 and the three made way over 500 million.

5>Last but not least, he again just recently opened up litigation against Justice Tunoi over a commercial bank he lost in the 90’s during Moi’s era. He saw a wounded dog who was suffering corruption claims, retirement issues and he decided to attack. We can all attest he’s the true don when it comes to matters controversy.

And the year just started, an election year for that matter. Can you predict what’s coming next? Can he declare that Matiangi will become Kenya’s next president?

Royal Media Services owner, SK Macharia, has irked folks from Mount Kenya region after he claimed that Raila Odinga was short-changed in the 2007 General Election that plunged the country into bloody violence.

Speaking during a public hearing at the Senate Chamber over the contentious election laws passed by MPs in December, Macharia said President Mwai Kibaki was unlawfully declared the winner of 2017 presidential election.

“The one who was declared the winner in 2007 was not the winner. We have evidence since, as media owners, we tracked all the results through satellite phones. As per my records, Raila won the elections,” SK Macharia said.

His statement rubbed some people the wrong way; comments posted on social media show that people from Mount Kenya were totally pissed by Macharia’s statement, they took their anger out on his stations.

A number of folks claimed RMS wasn’t impartial because of Macharia’s perceived inclination to the opposition; some even said they will stop advertising with RMS stations.
