Prezzo attacks Barbs again

It is crystal clear that the beef between these two housemates will never be swept under the carpet as they have tried to show lately. Deep down, I’ve always known that Prezzo still has a few things to tell Barbs. Things that she wouldn’t exactly appreciate.

Yesterday evening, as the Upvillers were celebrating their task victory and drinking themselves silly, the real Prezzo showed up once again. This time he managed to keep it a little bit on low key.

Prezzo pulled Barbs aside and decided to give her his ‘priceless’ advice. “Deep down, you’re a nice person, Barbie. The real you is beautiful. Stop trying to be a b****,” he said. Clever Barbs saw a fight coming from a mile away and decided to play cool. She even hugged him and thanked him for the compliment.

Luckily, that’s where it all ended, but me and you both know that this is far from over.

Ghafla! Top 7 Chart (22nd June 2012)

This week’s Ghafla! Top 7 doesn’t have as many movers and shakers as the previous week, but there are definitely some new entrants, including rapper DNA who has made a spectacular comeback to the industry.

Daddy Owen’s ‘Mbona’ loses out on the top spot to a steady riser thats been on the chart for just over a month now as Camp Mulla hold steady on the list, though how long they will last on here depends on you.

We’re listing the most popular LOCAL music in Kenya, based on radio airplay, tweets/comments and requests, lyrical searches right here on Ghafla! Lyrics as well as through weekly polls which we will feature soon.

Here are the current TOP 7 tunes ruling the airwaves and request lines in Kenya for the third week of June 2012. Remember, you can also vote for your favourite songs simply by looking up the lyrics to the songs on our website, commenting on our Facebook page Ghafla! Kenya, tweeting us your favourites to @ghaflakenya with the tag #ghaflatop7, or voting for them in the comments section below.

Here’s this weeks Top 7 chart:

The non-mainstream artiste we would like you to have a listen to this week is Jemedari.

Prezzo washes the dishes and sings for Goldie

The relationship between these two artistes seems to be the longest roller-coaster ride ever. You just never know what turn it might take next, but for now, all is extremely well.

Today, Prezzo and Goldie both woke up with good moods. As usual Goldie walked straight into the kitchen to do the usual morning cleaning that she’s obsessed with. Prince charming later came to the rescue, as he took over the large pile of dishes and started washing.

You think that’s romantic? Wait till you hear the rest of the story. Mariah Carrey’s ‘Always be my baby’ started playing and the two love birds could not help themselves but sing to each other, exchanging deep and loving gazes.

“You’ll always be a part of me, I’m part of you indefinitely…” they sang to each other. I can only hope that this will progress as more housemates are facing eviction. They really need to have each other’s backs if they want to stay a little longer in the game.

Watch the romantic video of the two below.

Kenyan rapper goes ‘crunk’

It’s been quite a while since I heard a Kenyan rapper try to go crunk ever since Chiwawa and Abbas nailed it with ‘chapaa’.

New, rapper known as S.P.D has just made his debut in the genre with the crunk track ‘The best ever (I got Barz)‘ which was released this month.

With a medium tempo for both beats and flow, this rapper sure has a a lot to say. Check out the music and tell us what you think.

Jemedari: No competition at all

Jemedari has now gone hard on hip hope as we are all used to seeing him on Spoken word events. Something about him reminds me of the rapper Mwafrika. They have too much in common.

Anyway, Jemedari’s new track titled ‘no competition’ is as simple as the video with lyrics and punchlines to die for. Dressed simply in T-shirt and pants, with dark shades, he raps back to back with no chorus at all.

It’s all about wordplay on this one and for sure you just gotta love it, especially how he delivers it in a well composed manner.

Life Gave This Musician Lemons, He Made Lemonade!

Siso Calif’s musical journey began in primary school where he was a bit skeptical about his chances of making it in the music industry. His first real shot in music manifested itself in secondary school on 10th April 2006 when he saw an advert in the local dailies about a promotion that was on going at Calif Records studios. His parents were somehow against this new direction he was about to take but that was to change in the future.

On 5th May 2006, his after much pleading and cajoling his parents finally accompanied him to Calif Records where he recorded his first single under the stage name “k-spex”. His confidence took a beating when the song flopped in the musical charts and worse still his parents backed off the music project terming it a waste of time and resources. This quickly became a trying time for him since he was now unable to raise money for recordings and video shoots. Stress was to multiple since he was still in high school and the national examinations were in the horizon.

Not to give up easily he embarked on a journey from Machakos to Nairobi on a mission to find Calif Records CEO Clement Rapudo a.k.a Clemo who was quite hard to get to. The first day ended without him meeting Clemo armed with only KES200 in his pocket with nowhere to sleep and no relatives to seek help from. He had to turn the roof of the four storey Calif Records building into a lodging. After numerous disappointments he only got to meet Clemo on the 5th day who after listening to his plight offered him a place to stay and free recording at his studio.

He then underwent rigorous mentorship under Clemo where he was taught how to write music, rap and even taught a thing or two about acting. In 2008 he was officially signed to Calif Records as a recording artiste and released his first official single “Wacha Stress” in 2010 which received massive airplay and put him in the limelight. On 5th May 2011 he released his second single “Majuu Kaguu” which was another hit getting him recognition from corporates such as Safaricom, Red Cross and Royal Media Services. This eventually transpired in him performing at the Kenyans 4 Kenya Concert that was aimed at raising funds for starving Kenyans in the North Eastern Province at the time.

Currently Siso is riding high with his latest release “Ngwee” which you can listen to below. Also you can  have a look at his amazing music lyrics here

Download Entry Forms to the 2012 CBA Concours d’Elegance

The 2012 Concours d’Elegance will for the very first time have a bank as its sponsor. The Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) announced an ambitious Kshs. 10 million sponsorship deal for Eastern Africa’s premier vintage automotive showcase later last month and this is sure to go a long way into making the next edition a massive success.

The 2012 CBA Concours d’Elegance is set to take place at the Ngong Racecourse on the 30th of September and has in previous years attracted entries from as far Malawi, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany.

Both CBA and the Concours D’Elegance have a heritage of being proudly Kenyan and share a proclivity for quality, class and sophistication. It is understandable therefore that the association between CBA and Concours D’Elegance is one that is well aligned and interestingly, coincides with CBA’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

“We are truly grateful to CBA for the title sponsorship for the Africa Concours d’Elegance which is an ideal event for the celebration of the bank’s Golden Jubilee. Just as CBA achieves high standards of service we aim for a high level of judging for the competing classic and vintage cars and motorcycles in the Concours.” said Bob Dewar, the Chairman of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, the brains behind the showcase.

The rules and regulations as well  entry forms to the edition have been made available and you can download them right here:

22nd June 2012 – 10 Things You Should Know This Morning

As part of our mission to keep you informed each and every day, Ghafla! introduces to you a brand new segment titled ’10 Things You Should Know This Morning’. We’ll take a look at news that’s making the headlines and got the most reviews and segments of the previous day so that you’re kept in the loop and up-to-date.

Kenya is waking up to even more interesting, shocking and some down-right crazy entertainment news this morning. Here’s a couple of things that are in the headlines:

1. As the Tusker Project Fame contestants are struggling to keep it together and stay in the Academy and in contention for the Kshs. 5 million jackpot, the faculty gave them some interesting tasks. Checkout Kenya’s Funniest video.

2. The Coca Cola finalists for the Olympic anthem were finally picked and you’ll never guess who made it! Here’s a tip, one of them was kicked out of TPF4 by Judge Ian.

3. Are things really that thick for Kenya’s sole celebrity representative to the BBA Stargame House? Well Prezzo isn’t quite the happiest of contestants and he says he wants to leave…AGAIN!

4. The competition is getting tougher for contestants in the Big Brother Africa Stargame and we’re calling on Kenyans to help save Prezzo in the Upville house.

5. The Music Copyright Society of Kenya held fresh elections this week and the country’s musicians walked away as some of the biggest winners with Frasha and Mongolo making history by being elected to the board.

Here's a Taste of STL's Brand New Track 'Bad As I Wanna Be'

6. There’s no denying that Camp Mulla are making great strides in their musical career, let’s take a peek into their musical heritage, and more so to do with member Kass.

7. The Fahrenheit Concert has got the whole city talking, and we can confirm that DJ Cleo has landed in the Green City in the Sun.

8. Arguably Kenya’s greatest musical export, STL is set to release a series of brand new offerings. Have a first listen to her upcoming single ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’.

9. More Big Brother Africa News,  seems someone is jealous of her boyfriend in the BBA house and goes as far as dishing out threats to her (one time?) love?

10. Seems Kenya just can’t get enough of Camp Mulla. We dug up their first ever radio interview and some things on it just may surprise you!

Blast From the Past: Jua Cali

Jua Cali has just released Kuna Sheng, a song about slang from different estates. The genge rapper has been fairly consistent since his debut in the Kenyan music industry over a decade ago.

He came out at a time when the industry was still in transition and local artistes were style trying to define a ‘Kenyan’ sound. He stuck to his and listening to his older tracks, you can tell that he hasn’t changed much.

Jua Cali’s achievements over the span of his career are nothing to be scoffed at. He won the Boomba Male Award at the Kisima Awards in 2006. He won Best Celebrity and Best Male Artiste at the CHAT Awards the following year. The Standard newspaper named him as one of the most influential Kenyans in 2007. He won Best Male and Best Boomba again at the 2007 Kisima Awards.

Internationally, he has toured the U.S., been nominated for a MOBO Award in the Diaspora category and MTV Europe Music Awards. He won three CHAT Awards in 2008, Best Male Artiste, Best Live Performance and Best Collabo (with Sanaipei) for Kwaheri.

Today, we take a look back at where it all started from. Before the Motorola endorsement, before Orange Mobile came along and before Warner Bros needed him to record a song for a local video game. Here is Jua Cali’s first track and his introduction to the Kenya music industry: Ruka.

Watch The BLNRB Documentary Online

In 2010, an ecletic group of musicians drawn from Kenya and Germany were put up in one house by the Goethe Institut to experiment and blend music styles. The result was Welcome To The Madhouse–a funky, sometimes soulful–up-tempo record.

The 18-track album was recorded in Kenya and Germany and included Necessary Noize, Just-A-Band, Abbas, Kimya, Ukoo Flani, Michel Ongaro, Lisa Oduor among others from Kenya. From Germany, Teichmann, Sasha Perrera and Modeselektor represented.

The initiative, dubbed the BLNRB Project, is now online and you can watch it below.

Enjoy Live Band Music at Mercury Junction

Live and acoustic music seems to be catching on in the Kenyan clubbing scene. More and more establishments are starting to host artistes playing live music. Mercury at the Junction on Ngong’ Road presents Band Thursdays with Calabash. The event is sponsored by Sierra Platinum and it begins at 8:00 p.m.

Calabash is a rock, soul and funk band. The band has previously had members like Mercy Myra back in the ’90s, who went on to win R&B Artist of the Year in 2003 and Female Artist of the Year in 2004. The band is made up of Al and Dana on vocals, David on guitar, Johnny on bass, drummer Mayor and keyboardist Eddy. If you enjoy relaxing, soulful, acoustic music, Mercury Junction is definitely the place to be.

Before They Were Big: A Look Back At Camp Mulla

Only 10 days left to the BET Awards where Camp Mulla ‘historically’ got nominated, being the only artistes in the region to gain the honour. We go 18 months back, to a time when none of us would have predicted that they would grow so big so fast and that they’d be where they are in less than two years.

This was an interview they did at the Kiss FM studios in January last year. In the interview they talk about AIDS (yes, really), Shappaman Kass’ heritage, trying to make Kenya proud and why they don’t rap in Swahili. Check out the interview below and see the group when they were still raw.

Camp Mulla’s Shappaman Kass’ Musical Heritage Revealed

Something you might not know about Camp Mulla is that one of their members bears legendary musical heritage. Benoit Kanema a.k.a Shappaman Kass is the son of iconic Congolese musician, Kasongo Wa Kanema.

In a past interview with Kiss 100, the group was hosted by radio host, DnG. He brought up the issue of family and how supportive they are to the group members. That’s when Shappaman said that it’s easy for him because his dad is a musician. He then revealed that it’s Kasongo.

If you thought Camp Mulla started early, that’s because you don’t know Kasongo’s story. Kasongo started performing at age 10 and later went on to form Super Mazembe together with Lovi Longomba, Talos, Fataki Lokasa, Songole among others. Most of the original members have died over the years and the group is being ressurected with new members.

Tuvuke Peace Tour Goes to Mombasa with Eko Dydda Performing

At a recent #TuvukePeaceTour in Mombasa, a couple of Kenyan gospel artistes led by Ecko Dydda and Kris Eeh Baba led students of the Shimo La Tewa School in a series of activities to promote peace at this crucial point in the country.

The Students watched photojournalist adn activist Boniface Mwangi’s video of the Post Election Violence “Heal The Nation” and were encouraged to declare: I’m not in the tribal generation, I’m in the tribe-ALL generation. I’m not part of the problem, I’m part of the solution!! Proudly Kenyan #CTA101 (Cleaning the Airwaves)

Since the reintroduction of multiparty political participation in 1991, Kenya has experienced election related violence every five years with devastating consequences to individuals and families. As the country prepares for the next general elections, it is necessary to take appropriate action to increase citizen participation in the electoral process and to contribute in ensuring that the elections are free and fair.

The Tuvuke- Initiative for Peaceful and Fair Electoral process in Kenya is a systematic effort aimed at developing collaborative pre-emptive actions and activities to forestall any pre-planned or spontaneous violence before, during and after the elections and to equip Kenyans with knowledge and skills so that individually and collectively they can enhance peace and justice.

Executive Producers of the initiative are – Kijiji Entertainment/ Mavuno Church/ Tuvuke Initiative Video while the Production is conducted by – Tony Mwaura [Washamba Unlimited]

Kenya’s funniest video?

This will without a doubt go down as Ghafla!’s video of the week. Although it’s all just an act, and titled ‘Tusker Project Fame’ to gain views, you gotta admit, this is some funny act.

The guys recording the video could not control themselves and quite frankly, I don’t blame them. This girl should consider acting. Check her out.

Let’s Save Prezzo!

Kenya, let’s unite to save Prezzo!

And by using deductive reasoning, the only way we can do that is by helping save Keitta ergo getting rid of the wicked witch of the west (or south) depending on who does tyhe choosing.

We need to vote to save Keitta from elimination so that Barbs can be booted from the show. Why do i say that this is the only way to save Prezzo? Well Barbs is Prezzo’s greatest antagonist in the house. This cerberus, has made it her mission and agenda to frustrate Prezzo and bad mouth him to everyone.

PREZZO-BARBS

While the gossip on it’s own is harmless, the fact that she does this repeatedly means that soon the seeds of discord she is sowing will soon take root and The others will turn on Prezzo, nay, on Kenya in Upville. Barbs is a huge factor in the reason why Prezzo was nominated for eviction in the first place.

It was her witches’ coven that overwhelmingly voted Prezzo resulting in his nomination. While i agree that no one can save Prezzo from himself, we can atleast preserve his existence for another two eviction cycles.

That means that everyone who can should vote to save Keitta. Let’s first rid the house of the dust-mite then regroup and restrategies. We need to prove to the rest of Africa that we are more than a slogan! That “Hakuna Matata” vibe just doesn’t cut it! No torn loyalties here, i am firmly behind a Triple-Threat Kenyan affair! Prezzo, Malonza, Alex!

Vote to have Barbs out!

Prezzo’s ‘mimi na we’ and Jua Cali’s ‘Kuna Sheng’ lyrics unveiled

So, Prezzo managed to get a song put out while still in the Big Brother House… that’s just amazing. His devotion to music is simply motivating. I wish he could be that devoted to Goldie (just saying).

You cannot deny that the song he did with Mombasa singer Ally B, ‘Mimi na we’ was seriously awesome. The song is just superb.

Not forgetting Jua Cali’s latest track, ‘Kuna Sheng’ which tries to familiarise everyone with the hood slang. Interesting approach.

The lyrics to both songs are now available. You can now sing along to ‘MIMI NA WE‘ and ‘KUNA SHENG‘ right here.

New Music Alert! Why Don’t You ‘Hola Hola’ At Rapdamu

The 2011 CHAT Awards Best New Artiste nominee Rap Damu has just released the audio to his BRAND NEW single ‘Hola Hola’ featuring Mariante.

The single is basically about how other people treat you or change their attitude once you make it in life and become successful at what you do.

‘They Never used to talk back…siku hizi wana hold back. Siku hizi wana hola hola’ says Rap Damu. Recently RapDamu released the video to ‘Nipe Nafasi’ which was hugely successful.

Check out the new single ‘Hola Hola’ below…

Remember the TPF contestant who was kicked off the team by Ian? She already made it.

Her name is Juliet Karanja and unlike the rest of the contestants, she doesn’t take rejection lightly. Especially from the famous artist repellent, Ian Mbugua.

When Ian disqualified Juliet, saying that she couldn’t make the cut, she responded by telling him that she will be famous before this year’s TPF show is over. True to her word, she will be in the next month.

Juliet Karanja is one of the two contestants to be picked for featuring on the Coca Cola Kenya Olympic Anthem. She and Collins Okoth were both voted in by the public on NTV’s The Beat last Friday.

They will start recording the song this week and shoot the video next week. The whole masterpiece will be launched in July.

Juliet, all you have to know is that we are all behind you in achieving your musical dreams.

Keitta’s girlfriend threatens him

Seeing that her boyfriend is getting so much more attention than she previously offered him, Eazzy has now made it clear to Keitta the stakes that are on the table should he choose to let himself go.

After the beautiful musician, Eazzy was evicted, she wasn’t that worried about her boyfriend Keitta crossing lines, but now that he is actually in Upville and the ladies are throwing themselves at him, she is now facing what could be her ‘reality check’.

She told Big Brother, “I will dump Keitta if he has sex in the Big Brother House.” I’m not sure how much longer Keitta can control himself and Eazzy doesn’t sound like she is bluffing either. Tough break.

They entered the house as a couple, both from Ghana, and now I’m not sure how it will end. All I know is that it will be one interesting departure.

Here’s a Taste of STL’s Brand New Track ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’

STL surely is one busy girl! #TheGurlGetsBussyyy Stella Mwangi who is set to release her brand new song ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’ has just revealed a snippet of the upcoming single ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’.

Social networks and the media in Kenya have been abuzz this past week with news that this Norway-based Kenyan bombshell is in the country to shoot a series of music videos, with the first ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’ set for release on June 29th 2012.

Stella has chosen to release a series of singles instead of a full album because she feels some of her creative juices get ‘lost’ in the compilation unless an ardent fan actually purchases the album.

Here’s a first (snippet) listen to STL’s yet-to-be-released song ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’….

Prezzo wants to leave the BBA House, AGAIN!

Hardly a week ago, Prezzo demanded to be let out of the house. Reason being that they were denied their alcoholic drinks. Goldie cooled down the furious rapper and all was well.

But not for long. Seeing that his best pal, Roki was disqualified two days ago, Prezzo now thinks that it’s going to get too lonely in the house. He was saved from eviction by Head of House, Goldie for obvious reasons.

It seems Prezzo doesn’t share those reasons with Goldie as he requested Biggie to put him back on the eviction list, as if he actually wants to be evicted. Asked why he wanted to get back on the eviction list, Prezzo said that if he won the price money, he wouldn’t want it to look like he survived because of Goldie. he just wants to be his own man.

Whether that’s the real reason or not, I really don’t think that is a good idea at all. I didn’t think of Prezzo as a quitter. I hope he won’t prove me wrong.

New Music Alert: Hot, New, Electro, Gospel Track

Christ Cycoz is an alternative gospel rap trio. The group, consisting of Benard “Ben” Kariuki, Clinton “Dambiz” Andambi and Brian “KaGz” Kagiri, was formed in late 2010 after they graduated from High School. The trio met at Upper Hill High School where they were members of The Christian Union and The School Choir and formed strong friendships during the time they spent there.

The love of music drove Ben, Dambiz and KaGz to form a group as they were “young, fly and saved” and loved music to the core. The group members have extremely diverse tastes in music where they draw their influence and therefore they incorporate these different styles in their music.

The trio has one goal in common, to reach out and minister to the young people in society so that they can lead positive lifestyles by putting God in the driver’s seat and letting him take control.

They are finally releasing Spotless, a track they wrote while still in high school. Spotless is basically a testimony of God’s grace to us Christians for taking away our stain of sin and iniquity. You can listen listen to the track which features Lish and Sue below.

Listen to a Hot, New, Soulful, Kenyan Track

Keith is an alternative music artiste who experiments with different sounds. We reviewed his fast-paced debut single here and we now take a look at a slower, more soulful effort. The song was written, produced and performed by Keith himself.

Executed with good taste and right measure, up-coming singer/songwriter KEITH’s new track, ‘Flesh’, laces soulful saxophone melodies over moody piano chords and distant guitar solos. The up-coming Kenyan artist goes deeper still, exploring themes of self-reflection and vulnerability. His track, ‘Flesh’, will be featured in his up-coming EP, Love, Taken To A Mysterious Place, to be launched in August, 2012.

You can find KEITH on Twitter @keithinside and on Facebook here. Listen to the track below.

Man Wazimu Is Not Interested In Working With Any Other Kenyan Artistes

During a recent interview with Ghafla!, we asked Man Wazimu which Kenyan artiste he would like to collaborate with. In his 15-track debut album, My Say, we noticed that he has only featured two other artistes, Peshi and Eimah Rox.

“Are there any Kenyan artistes who you like enough to go out and look for? Anyone you want to work with?” we asked. “No” he said without blinking, “No one.” He added, “Before I work with you, there are two things I look at. One, is the business side. And two, is the passion. What do you have as an artist?”

Internationally, though, the reggae artiste said he would love to work with Macka Diamond. “I like the way she writes her music,” he prasied the Jamaican reggae star.

Man Wazimu, mostly known for Emergency Pills, is currently promoting his album, My Say, before he releases a series of riddims in September. He is also a presenter at Ghetto FM.

AnitA to perform Alongside Hellon Tonight

This Thursday 21st June 2012, fresh new Kenyan songstress AnitA will take to the stage for the first time since she released her single ‘Gravity of Love’. She will be alongside Joseph Hellon, the Jazz and Music Maestro at Club Gallilleo’s Jazz Night of 21st June 2012.

Hellon is said to be very excited about this particular show after rehearsals with the Lady of Love. The show is a big deal as it is sponsored by Heineken.

On her latest single ‘Gravity of Love’, ANitA said the song was about the emotions that one goes through when first meeting someone.
‘It’s all about the infatuation; the rush of feelings; the joy; the cofusion; the hesitation. You don’t need to know how to move to the next step. But You do. ANd You realise that your love is all you need to hold on to each other. Gravitate and orbit around each other if you will’.

Frasha and Mongolo Elected to the MCSK Board

Kenyan musicans have been quite vocal this past week as the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) first held an open forum at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre on Monday 18th June 2012 followed by a groundbreaking new set of elections that would see the artistes themselves have a say in how they want the countrywide body run.

Elections were held on the 20th of June 2012 primarily at the Blue Springs Hotel in Kenya, ushering in a sweeping wind of change and reform at its very helm. For the very first time, Kenyan musicians would be allowed to feature on the management board of the MCSK.

It was interesting to see how the artistes took a common stand, irregardless of background or genre, to fight for their rights in overseeing issues that affect them primarily through the Music Copyright Board. All this despite a few hitches at the start which included a declaration that there would be no elections on the said day and the fact that the MCSK CEO Maurice Okoth was notably absent.

One of MCSK’s directors, Mr. Gacheru came out in a show of faith however, stating that the musicians interests would be held at heart and he was happy to see a younger crop of artistes taking over the industry and he was willing to support the development in his capacity.

A number of leading Kenyan artistes such as Nonini, Octopizzo, Habida, Ukoo Fulani, Wyre and Mimmo led arguably one of the largest gatherings of musicians in recent history, as each wanted to witness this historical occasion that would see them take matters into their own hands, or at least have representation to do so.

Ultimately Francis Hamisi (otherwise known as Frasha) of the popular group P-Unit was elected to the Budget Committee of the MCSK, having garnered a total vote count of 216, alongside Jane Nyambura who got 296 votes.

George Mwangangi (a.k.a Mongolo) was also voted into the Advisory Committee Foundation with a total of 230 votes along with Jane Mwalimu who gathered 301 votes. At the Monday forum, Nonini and Didge had stepped down from nomination to the election in favour of Frasha and Mongolo in a show of faith and solidarity.

The MCSK declares itself as a Non-Profit making collecting and management organisation for the authors, composers, arrangers and publishers of musical works throughout the republic. According to its constitution, the main mandate of MCSK is to collect Royalties on behalf of its registered members and other affiliate collecting management organisations and distribute the same to them.

The Music Copyright Society of Kenya aims at building, mobilising and supporting the musical fraternity within Kenya through the intergration and enhancement of the earnings for their work.

Prezzo asks to be put back up for eviction!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when i saw Prezzo ask to be put up for eviction again!

I had to go to the site to find conclusive evidence of the fact and i did! This chap must either have taken a knock to the noggin or Roki’s departure is just too much for him to handle!

The Kenyan contestant at Upville who is the last of the original male contestants on the show asked Biggie to put him back on the nominated list to “Let Africa decide”!

Apparently, Prezzo doesn’t want to owe Goldie for saving him so he asked to be put back up for nomination so that should he survive, Goldie cannot claim credit for rescuing his bacon.

I for one feel that this is an unsound way to play a game that is all about manipulation and cheating to survive.

Anyway, check out the video below:

So What Exactly Does The Fourth Camp Mulla Member Do?

His name is Mykie “CEO” Mutooni. You may have seen him in many Camp Mulla videos, photo shoots and interviews. However, he always stays out of the centre stage. Due to this avoidance of the limelight, many Camp Mulla fans have asked themselves, “what the hell does this boy do?”

In a recent interview, it was revealed that Mykie was actually the one who started Camp Mulla!

But how? He doesn’t even rap.

Well, before Camp Mulla came to be, Taio Tripper and Yung Kass used to rap independently outside nightclubs in Nairobi. Check out one of Yung Kass’ earlier freestyles here:

{youtube}kiFoxBiBTqY{/youtube}

They were hot, but they didn’t know each other yet. Mykie knew them all independently and he’s the one who suggested that Kass and Tripper come together. Later on, he also recruited Miss Karun into the group.

That’s a big contribution.

In a conversation with Taio Tripper, he revealed to me that Mykie the CEO is nowadays Camp Mulla’s manager. “But I thought the Nigerians at M-Tech managed Camp Mulla?” you ask. Yes, that is true, however while M-Tech manages the externalities, like ensuring they get high-quality videos and endorsements from Safaricom, Mykie ‘the CEO’ manages the internal affairs. He’s the internal affairs manager.
