P-Unit and Collo perform hit song ‘You Guy’ for the first time (video)

Immediately this song was released, there was no doubt that it would be the next major hit in Kenya, both on radio and in the clubs.

I mean, have you been to the clubs when this track is playing? Revellers unleash their crazies on the dancefloors or wherever it is the song will find them. Not so many local songs have this kind of effects and that is what has increased the anticipation for this track’s video which is yet to be released.

P-Unit and Collo recently performed ‘You Guy’ at the just concluded Naija Night for the first time and the effect it had on the revellers that night, oh my God. Out of this world.

It is ironical though how the ladies go crazy over the track, meanwhile the first verse explains word for word how the dude would take advantage of a drunk lass and have his way with here (“…napitanga na zile ziko maji zimebleki”).

That aside, this is a really hot tune. Check out how the fantastic four carried it out on stage.

Kajairo Carjacked at Gun Point This Morning

It was a dark morning for comedian Kajairo and his crew as they were accosted by armed carjackers who made away with their car.

Though no one was injured during the incident, the thugs took all the equipment that the group uses. It’s believed that the group was heading to shoot an episode of Kajairo’s comedy show on QTV when the robbers pounced.

Kajairo is urging anyone who spots the car to report the matter to the police. “…the car is a red raum KBP 774U. if u spot it report to buru buru police station or nearest police station. we shall keep you posted.”

The Ghipuka crew drop another hot track

If I wasn’t used to the music these days, I would say that it is almost unbelievable that these guys are singing about a lass’ body all through the song.

The Ghipuka crew have once again brought a track that will soon be the next overplayed song on the radio stations. Kenrazy, T-ME and Sosuun have just released their latest collaborative track and video titled ‘Yii haa’.

The track basically praises the sexy ladies’ bodies by discribing it with full details. Crazy guys these are,but very entertaining.

Check out the video below.

Here’s Something You Never Knew about Nameless

It’s common to see most celebrities hiding their identities (faces) when on the streets or other public places. Most of them prefer stunnaz or hats that can conceal their identities.

However, Nameless had a unique way of covering his. The “Coming Home” hit-maker used to wear a mask whenever he was in public places especially when riding in the matatus to disguise himself from his fans. Those were the days of “Megarider” when he was just starting out and so did not have a personal car.

This revelation was made recently by the artiste himself when he was hosted by Nonini during his radio show.

Straight Up’s Tamima Thinks You Should Date Your Chic’s Friends If…

Are you one of those guys who find their chic’s friends hot and hence like hanging out with them a lot to the envy of your girl? Well, Straight Up’s Tamima thinks you should actually go ahead and date them.

Responding to a guy who had wrote in saying he finds his girlfriend’s friends hot, Tamima said, “Let me hit the nail on the head, if you find them hot and are always hanging around them then you’re not ready for a serious relationship.” She added, “Go date her friends and when you’re done you can come back.”

The Straight Up Live hostess was speaking on 1FM’s breakfast show hosted by Nonini trying to solve your relationship issues.

What do you think guys?

I Have Not Left Ghetto Radio – Mbusii

If you are an avid fan of Ghetto Radio’s Air Goteana show you must have noticed that for two weeks now, Mbusii’s voice has been missing on air. As such, rumour mills were abuzz with allegations that the radio king had quit the radio station.

However, last evening, “Captain” Mbusii came out dispelling the rumours saying that he was on a two-week leave and that he had not left the radio station. “Wengine walisema eti nimehama ghetto radio eti oh eti ohh. Ilikua wiki mbili za leave. Kesho bak on air” tweeted the radio king. He also added that he was at Ghetto Radio to stay terming it as “home”, “Riswa pon those who spread rumours eti nimehama @ghettoradio895. Wajue east or west home is best. @MajimajiKenya #ghettofam @GhaflaKenya yes”.

Mbusii also revealed that he’ll be back on air today and thanked his colleague, Lydia Njeri and co-host, Bonoko, for filling in for him when he was away. “After a 2 week leave. Am back on air 2morow. @Raymuchi @Bonokodeh imekua lualala hizo wiki mbili mmeshikilia @goteana895 @GhaflaKenya thanks.”

Welcome back Generali Mbusii.

Benson Wanjau a.k.a Mzee Ojwang’ is a member of the longest running cast in Kenyan TV history. In an interview with Passion Magazine, he revealed a few interesting things about himself. Below are five things you probably didn’t know about the vet thesp.

1. In 2008, Mzee Ojwang’ was identified as the most trusted comedian in the country. The Nation Media Group-commissioned Infotrak Harris poll was topped by the actor and Churchill.

4. He got the Mzee Ojwang’ even before he got into acting. While he worked at White Rose, a co-worker used to teasingly call him Ojwang’ because of the way he dressed. “When I went for auditions for Darubini, I used the name Ojwang and it has stuck,” he told Passion Magazine.

5. Naturally, from his name, we expect his character to be Luo. And over the 35 years, he has played Ojwang’, he has been presented as a Luo complete with the accent. But not only is Benson Wanjau not Luo, he does not know the language at all.

NONINI GUEST POST: In 2013, Kenya Will Be Re-Born

Here is Ghafla’s first guest post ever, written by Hubert Nakitare, aka Nonini:

———————————-

Kenya — In 2010, Kenya drafted a new constitution to replace its problematic 1963 independence-era Constitution. The new Constitution.

2013 Kenya Will be Re-Born again by going to the Elections with the New Constitution yet to be fully implemented and by the way its one of the complex constitutions in the world!

I have made a conscious decision that this country is being born again and i will have to participate in one way or the other to remove the Status Quo and if we will not be able to get rid of them. Then start a Strategy (ndio jina ya hii mchezo) that will in the long run see them X’ed out and young, fresh leadership taking over.

Employment creation

1.There are about 500,000 youth who graduate from various tertiary institutions ready to enter the job market every year. However, due to the slow economic growth, corruption, nepotism and demand for experience by potential employers, 75% remain unemployed.

Empowerment and Participation

2.One of the greatest challenges in Youth Empowerment and participation is how to ensure that young people are passionate about causing transformation in Kenya. Youth Empowerment and Participation is the quintessential force for causing such transformation. Young people need a youth branded platform from where they can speak powerfully, take appropriate action, and inspire belief that will have a catalytic impact all over the country through youth-led development initiatives.

Health

3.The uneven distribution of health facilities in the country continues to widen disparities in affordability and access to medical care. Statistics indicate that only 42% of the population has access to medical facilities within four kilometers and 75% within eight kilometers.

Education and training

4.The 8-4-4 system of education was geared to imparting appropriate skills to enhance self-employment. However, due to the high costs, poverty and lack of facilities, there have been high school dropout rates. Most of the youth either drop out of school or graduate without necessary skills for self-employment. Many girls drop out of school due to pregnancy.

Crime and Drugs

5.The early mid 1980’s saw a rapid growth in crime, drug and substance abuse among the youth in Kenya. Alcohol, cigarettes, khat (miraa), and cannabis sativa have remained the most popular abused substances. There is a fast emerging trend of injecting drug use especially narcotic. Moreover, abuse of drugs is highly associated with the risks of contracting HIV/Aids and other sexually transmitted diseases especially among the youth.

I dont care whether your party is
ODM,TNA,KANU,UDM,NARC,PNU etc…Hizi tu ni magari za kutufikisha the destination we need to get at. But as long as u are a young leader na uko na Content ina make sense to me and i know that u are no bodies Puppet/Project. I will fully support your agenda if it concerns us and will affect our future and future of our Sons & Daughters…I don’t care which car u use to get us there but lets get there and change this thing of STATUS QUO from the inside.

Kenyans lets all maintain Peace na Tribe ni Moja YOUTH! Hio ndio na aminia na ndio ntasimamia…AND TO THE MEDIA HOUSES IN KENYA..coz i know what happens… i know that everyone has who he or she is supporting but please note… that is a personal feeling and kenyans dont care coz they have their own feelings…as the media houses be fair in ur reporting to all candidates no matter who gives u a handout (and we know u are given and SOME OF U TAKE IT) tell kenyans the truth not COINED bulletins trying to push personal agendas of ur candidates like we ve seen u do in the past. John Allan Namu Reveals That Kenya Revenue Authority Tried Framing Him

Investigative journalists have one of the most dangerous professional jobs. Should your cover be blown in the middle of a story, God knows what will happen to you. But death threats are a real hazard, though not a big issue, in the line of work as John Allan Namu told Expression Today magazine.

“The most formidable challenge in investigative journalism comes when people affected by your stories try to ruin your credibility by embarking on character assasination. An investigative journalist thrives on his or her credibility but the moment that is called into question, one could as well quit the business,” he told ET.

He further explained an incident where his credibility was questioned, “There is a story I did on a conspiracy to evade tax where import declaration documents were falsified with the connivance of senior Kenya Revenue Authority officers. But after KRA’s top management went public to deny some of the accusations in the story, they went ahead to claim that I conspired with a relative of mine working with KRA to steal confidential information which I used in the story.”

He added, “False propaganda was spread to the effect that one Wambui Namu, a former KRA commissioner, was my mother and that she used her position to leak sensitive information to me in order to spruce up my story. But I am not related to Wambui Namu in any way. We only share a surname and it was pure coincidence that I did the story at the time she held a top position at KRA.”

Check out Ghafla!Kenya live at 1FM with Bamzigi (video)

So, just last week team Ghafla showed up at the 1FM studios for an interview, or rather discussion with Bamzigi on his show.

Uncle Chim Tuna and Adam Wagwau held it down with Bamzigi through out the night touching on some of the most controversial stories that we recently ran on Ghafla.

I gotta say, this is one crazy and fun radio presenter to hang around with according to our two writers.

Check out the video below.

Remember the dude who released his first track in prison? Here is another from the same place

This guy right here going by the name of Lil Veen is now the inspirational story to most prisoners for the will to live a better life.

Just before he was released from Migori Main Prison after serving time for possession of fake notes, Lil Veen recorded a couple of tracks and even managed to do the video while still locked up. How he managed to get the permissions to do all that is still a wonder to me, considering the harsh conditions of the Kenyan prisons.

Lil Veen recorded this second track titled ‘Bloodbath’ and it is just now that he has started uploading them and pushing through the social media due to obvious reasons. He recorded this song inspired by the unfortunate incidents of the Post election violence.

Check out the video of the track below. Despite all odds, this guy still managed to make all this music.

Check out this live performance of Ala C and Mejja

Calif Records’ artistes Mejja and Ala C dropped by the 99 Degrees studios and performed Ala C’s walking class and I have to say, they didn’t disappoint at all.

I just came across the video right now, and it has just downed on me how far these two have come since joining Calif Records.

Ala C’s walking class has become a hit since the day it was released till date. Hell, Makadara MP even bought him shoes worth Sh. 5000 just because of this track.

Check him out performing this track alongside Mejja.

Prezzo Denies Spending Time with Goldie in Nigeria

Kenyan rapper and ONE ambassador, Prezzo was recently hosted on the Morning show of Channels TV in Nigeria. Prezzo revealed that he has not been hanging out with his “good friend” Goldie even though there have been photos showing the two together.

“Goldie is busy. I have seen her just once since my arrival.” Said Prezzo cheerfully grinning when questioned on his famous relationship with Goldie, with whom he has being seen at various events in Nigeria and abroad in recent weeks.

“She’s been very busy” he stated, adding that “Goldie is a beautifully person, both inside and outside.”
Prezzo had a stormy relationship with the Nigerian participant in the Big Brother Africa House and that they have both evolved to be great friends since the reality show ended.

Free Nyama Choma and shots at this House Party

Though it will not really be in a house, this party will have that house party theme and feeling, except with more class and glamour. The ambiance in this restaurant will be modified for this specific event and will just be off the hook.

Tortilas Blackrose will be hosting this exclusive event on the 17th of November 2012 from 4PM till dawn. There will be adequate space from the regular section, outside, down to the V.I.P section.

To kick off the party, a fun mood needs to be set off and that is why mingling games such as pool and darts will be played for the first hours.

The best part of this party is the fact that you will be able to sample the best of the best meat platters/barbecue as the party goes on.

Sheesha will be in the house and all drinks will be sold at fare prices as the real party kicks off at 6PM on arrival of DJ Bash who will be playing the best of international music all night long.

There is no way I’m missing out on this one so, see you there.

Caroline Mutoko Responds To the Open Letter!

Caroline Mutoko has just responded to the open letter we posted earlier and she has gone H.A.M in typical Amazonian nature.

The backdrop of this response is that we had contacted her to alert her to the existence of the open letter to her and the fact that it had received as much love as it did and she give us a reason for why people consider her an iron lady and here is how she responded:

Hi there – no I hadn’t seen it – thanks for the heads-up. However my dear, just by scanning through, I’m afraid I can’t help the poor soul. He/she/it Can’t spell let alone think – where do we start? Look, those who are smart and understand what the show and the conversations are about are delighted that we have ventured into that area. For me, it’s still a learning experience in alot of ways. So much I didn’t know, yet so much I assumed young people knew.

Here’s the deal – for every mum who stops me on the street to say “thank you”, for every young girl who writes to say “you changed my life, I didn’t go through with it” every woman who says “I talked to my daughter” I know we are doing the right thing. This very sad mis-guided soul who posted that near illiterate letter on your site should spend time on something else.

Incidentally, there’s no law that requires him or anyone of his ilk to tune in to us – there are about 132 frequencies in the market – it’s a free world – choose the one that accommodates your IQ. Does he listen through a muffler? Has anyone checked for wax in his ears?

This letter is by no means a representation of what Gen Y thinks or feels. I say that with authority because Gen Y know I’ve got their back. Infact I’m on record as making two things very clear – I’m done with judging Gen Y & anyone who does, it’s time to do more listening and less preaching, talking and judging and I’ve also made it clear that I believe that whatever failings this Gen Y may have – my generation and those gone before have alot to answer for.

Thanks once again for getting in-touch inspite of the sheer waste of time and energy this poor fellow is.
Take care – have a great week ahead.

Get the tickets to the first ever Kamba Play, ‘Ndukatavye Mundu’

I’ve always preferred plays to movies mostly because of the ‘realistic’ factor and the rawness of it all. Kenyans have always gone H.A.M on theatrical productions. It is actually an African culture that we have had since the beginning of time and we have carried on with it till date.

Now, I don’t know if you have ever watched a play done in a vernacular language, but let me tell you up front that it is this type of plays that really bring out the emotions in it, be it sorrow, joy or humor.

If you’ve never witnessed such plays, and you happen to be Kamba or can understand the language, then this is the play to start you off. The ‘Ndukatavye Mundu’ meaning ‘Don’t tell anyone’ will be showing at the Kenya National Theatre (Main Auditorium) on the 30th of November 2012 from 6PM, on the 1st of December 2012 3PM and 6PM, and on the 2nd of December 2012 at 3PM and 6PM.

Tickets are available here.

This is DEFINITELY The Next Big Thing in Kenyan Comedy (Video)

You’ve watched clips of white people especially young lads doing mimicry behind unsuspecting shoppers in malls or random guys on walking around. Well, the clowns “have come” to Kenya. Calling themselves “S**ttyads” on YouTube, these guys may just be the next big thing in comedy in Kenya with their publicity stunts.

Performing the “Gangnam style” behind customers, shop attenders and strangers on the streets minding their business, these guys are venturing into new comedy grounds that no one else has explored in the country.

Enjoy this clip which they describe as “Kenyan Unemployed teenagers having fun by disturbing the public.”
