The Real Reason Why Octopizzo Sports Two Watches

If you are keen enough you must have noticed that whenever Octopizzo is in the public he has two watches on: one on the right wrist and the other on the left. In fact at one time one reporter asked him why he sports two and his answer was, “Am always on time,” and left it at that.

However, we’ve now known why he wears two watches. According to Lorna Irungu, the rapper has two watches with one showing local time (EAT) and the other showing New York time (EST). Apparently, he always has Skype appointments and so he has to be on time.

“So @Octopizzo is the business!! He has 2 watches one on local time and the other on NY time for Skype appointments”, tweeted the former TV personality.

Well, that’s how he rolls…

Octopizzo Inspires Top Artiste from the Coast

This year’s “Nokia Don’t Break The Beat” finalist and 2012’s Chipukizi Artist of the Year winner at the just concluded Kenya Coast Music Awards, Cypreezy, owes his success in music to Kibera’s finest rapper, Octopizzo.

The budding rapper made this revelation when he was receiving his first ever award after failing to clinch the top prize at “Nokia Don’t Break The Beat” finals. “This is for everyone who believed in me and most of all, Octopizzo,” declared Cypreezy.

Singer Starts the WOW Foundation. And Here’s How You Can Help

The Ivory Coast-born and raised Kenyan-based artiste, Vanika Pink is known for her hit songs Jibeba, Raha Yangu and Special. She is now doing her bit to give back to society by setting up a foundation.

Women Of Wonder (WOW) was founded to empower women from all walks of life. It was also founded to celebrate the important roles of women in the society. Not to mention to increase awareness in women’s being, thus making them wiser happier and more appreciative of themselves.

Women of Wonder Aspires to be the platform that girls transforming into responsible women will look up to for empowerment: gender, social, economic and political empowerment. This is an amazing time to Grow as a Woman and Women of Wonder aim to do more.

Vannesa Obura a.k.a Vanika Pink says, “I have been through a lot in my life. I have had a lot of insecurities I’ve been dealing with and it took me a lot of time to realize who I am. I also realized there are many girls who suffer from what I suffered from. Self worth, self esteem issues and not loving who they are. These girls sometimes have no one to talk to, they don’t have many role models in the society today.”

And then the singer explains why she started the foundation, “It took alot to discover myself and I was lucky to have a wonderful strong people in my life. My best friend, my step mother and my ex-boyfriend, who is still a good friend, helped me realize my worth. But not many girls have that. Not many girls are as lucky as me. So that’s why I decided to start this foundation. My main aims and objectives are to be able to actually help these girls and change their lives. God blessed me with people who helped. Now I want to help those that have no one and be there for them.”

Women of Wonder is preparing for a revolution and needs all your help. If you think you can directly join the journey to inspiring other women, WOW needs you to come on board. At the moment, the foundation needs counselors who can volunteer bring change to many ailing women.

WOW is a place of empowerment. And empowerment needs power. So if you can run the world, send the WOW team a message and they will get back to you with details. Check out their Facebook page, ‘Women Of Wonder Kenya’ or follow them on twitter @womenofwonderke.

Take Notes; this is How to Hold a Pool Party (Photos)

Bacardi re-defined the meaning of partying by holding an exceptional pool party at Thalassa (Next to Nyali Bridge), Mombasa. The set-up, ambience and serene surrounding was breath-taking as the Superband Nouvelle kicked off the night with some mellow tunes, which later on transitioned to groovy tunes that put the crowd in a celebration mood.

As the revelers streamed in, they were escorted by the stunning bat girls and bat boys to the bar where they were shown how to make their own cocktails and afterwards got served with drinks by Bacardi-trained mixologists. Among the drinks served were: Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold, Bacardi Oakheart, Cuba Libre, Mojitos and Breezers, just to name a few. Take a look;

Don’t you just want to have a taste of what’s in her bottle…

This is what Nonini will be doing this Christmas

Everybody has their plan for this festive season. Guys like me just like approaching it open-minded, with no plan at all. But that’s just me.

Being a huge artiste like Nonini, you definitely gotta know what you’ll be doing on a huge day like Christmas. Nonini got it all figured out for this festive day.

On the 25th of November, catch Mgenge True performing live on stage at Klub Kalahari.

The godfather will be touching stage in the evening to give one his most electrifying-to-be concerts.

Entry is Sh. 300 but only before midnight.

Huge gospel artistes to perform at the Pamoja Concert this new year’s eve

It looks like every popular genre of music here in Kenya will be having a huge concert somewhere in the country come this new year’s eve.

There’s no playing around. Artistes have been booked and shows have been planned and organised. Eldoret just figured out what will be huge this December and it is non other than the Pamoja Concert. The concert will be going down on the 31st of December from 6PM till morning.

This gospel concert will have almost every huge gospel artiste perform, including, Daddy Owen, Emmy Kosgei, Rose Muhando, DK, Willy Paul, Rufftone, Denno, Esther Wahome, Juliani, Ole Willy and Upendo Nkone, just to mention a few.

And just guess who the MC of the night will be… funny man Eric Omondi.

Oh my! This will be one huge event.

Got plans for todays? How about Afrocentric Thursdays?

The holiday vibe has just kicked in. Everybody has that happy look on their faces and the smiles are growing wider by the day.

I’m loving this feeling. That is why you shouldn’t spend any of the December days left bored. Get a plan. Get with the programme.

Today’s plan… how about Afrocentric Thursdays? Q FM presents this night full of Afro Soul music and those feel good roots type of tunes. You just can’t miss this.

Afrocentric Thursdays will be going down today at the Jazz Club and entry goes for… nothing at all. It is absolutely free so all are welcomed.

Come one, come all. Just don’t miss.

NTV’s Group Managing Editor Set to Tie the Knot This Weekend

Veteran political reporter and Nation Media Group’s NTV’s Broadcasting Managing Editor, Linus Kaikai, is getting married this weekend.

Kaikai will be exchanging vows with his longtime lover, Jacinta Mueni, on Saturday, December 22 this year at an invites-only wedding in Rongai according to Jackal. The occasion is expected to be graced by the who-is-who in the media industry considering the groom has worked for some of the top media companies in the country and consequently made friends.

Few weeks ago, the couple had a traditional marriage ceremony in Ukambani where family and friends were invited to the eventful ceremony to witness the two exchange their marriage vows.

Ghafla! wishes Linus Kaikai and his bride a blissful marriage life.

Top Ten Sexiest Radio Personalities of 2012!

Baba Ghafla has warned me against doing this list claiming that there is a reason why these faces are on radio and not on telly! That was before we locked him in his office toilet and begun the consultations on just who the fliest faces belong to.

And don’t get me wrong, this list is about vanity. I am celebrating the most beautiful faces to match the beautiful voices. And trust that i am just the man for the job! I have travelled far (industrial area -Baricho Rd) and wide (Westlands -Lions Place) and i have stolen the hearts of many a radio personality. And been the object of infatuation for many a pretty lady behind the microphone but today i shall not tell you these stories. I shall instead tell you which ladies have caught my eyes.

Ladies and gentlemen, frogs and toads i wish to present to you! Mhmm! The most beautiful faces behind the most beautiful voices on radio:

#10. Angela Anwenyi -Easy FM

Why Angela? Well, she has that dark beauty sensual chocolate thing going and she doesn’t try to put a lid on it. Remember her kissing some lad on national TV on a whim when she was a judge? Yeah! She does what she does when she does. If that isn’t sexy, i don’t know what is!

#9. Sheila Mwanyigah -Easy FM

I have to confess to never meeting radio’s lady and that is entirely her fault! She refuses to acquint herself with authentic Luhya charm but i shall not hold that against her. She is beautiful and what enhances her beauty further is the fact that she is such a lady! Listen in on her show and i promise that when it ends the only image that will be left in your mind will be that of a proper English lady sipping tea as she talks into the microphone.

I had to dock points though because i’m not into proper ladies… Find them a tad bit too resricted.

#8. Yvonne Chege -1FM

This is the lass behind the news clips on One FM. Although oflate it has been a lad, trust me when i say that she is breathetaking! This lass is gorgeous and while her accent scares off alot of lads trust me when i say she’s actually good peoples! However, points must be docked because i haven’t heard you on air for quite a while.

#7. Esther Kagamba -Ghetto Radio

She dey pretty like a flower. Shakespeare said, “A rose by any other name…” I say a beauty by the name Esther by any other name is still as beautiful! Doesn’t make sense? That’s because she dey scatter my mind! Beautiful and cheerful! It’s a wonder that i’d meet this lass when i’m in my “I’m feeling sexy” clothes and the sun is out! No wonder she couldn’t help but giggle as i spoke to her! But alas!

#6. Amina

What can i say about this lass? She handles HBR’s news and celeb gossip. She has rendered many a lad speechless except for this your uncle! She hosted Kisima Awards and is there any wonder as to why the organisers tapped her for the task? Face? Check! Voice? Check! But next time skip casting bozos for her co-host! Get this Naija boy to host am!

#5. Joey Muthengi -Capital FM

Beautiful? Aye! And she dey blow grammar proper! The American accent vex some but not me. I like it. Her show is usually tuned into but besmirched teenagers looking to fuel their fantasies. She has the body and the looks! That is why she is in the list of lists!

#4. Mwalimu Sonnie -HBR

HomeBoyz gem is quite the catch. I would have put her higher on the list but she had to get on telly last Sunday with the “I am surprised/ I am angry” eye lashes. Why? You are so undoubtedly beautiful but the make up artist didn’t do your visage any favours. Please, keep thyself natural nma! You are indeed beautiful but that make-up na lie!

#3. Liz Njuguna -Ghetto Radio

<Apologies, had to use a personal picture. She’s the lass in the red shirt>

I will admit to a bias against anything with the tag “ghetto” when it comes to women but my word! Today i interacted with the “ghetto”ladies from Ghetto Radio and my mind was blown! She handles their news and celeb gossip and oh my word! She dey adanma! She take-am breathe away! If the ghetto has such lasses, lock me in it and throw away the key! She na beautiful-o! She dey look-u look-u my business anytime oh! Put eye for me!

#2. Tina Kagia

What can i say about Tina? She is what furnaces produce… heat! Intense heat! She has the same allure a hot teacher does to high school lads! When you hear her on radio, she sounds naugty. When you meet her in person, she is petite, has small feet and a smile that cuts through your heart like a knife through butter. My word! She is beautiful and naughty. What more can a lad ask for?

#1. Kalekye Mumo -Kiss FM

KALEKYE_MUMO.jpg

Why Kalekye? She has such a beautiful soul! Kelekye is intelligent, beautiful and confident. She has inspired an entire generation of African figured lasses that they are indeed beautiful. Gone are the days when women thought aping Western standards of beauty was what made men eager to speak to them. They know that uncle Chim Tuna and his nephew appreciate fully fleshed African figures! Kudos to Kalekye Mumo for accomplishing this feat by simply loving herself.

If you missed it, this is how great the concert was. This is how good Erykah Badu has it.

The Wedding Show (Luopean Edition)

You all know about Kenya’s premier marriage show, “The Wedding Show”. Now, some time back, the show’s host, Noni Gathoni attended a wedding of two evidently well-to-do couple and got to interview them. And boy, blustering did come out! This is how the interview went;

Noni Gathoni: the day went well and still is going well. Especially so for the bride and groom. We are here at the Imperial Hotel, Kisumu, where the wedding reception for kisumu has set camp at. Yesterday we were at Nairobi’s Norfolk hotel for friends and family in Nairobi. And now lets knw from Adhiambo and Omondi how they met and how the day has been for them. Starting with u adhiambo!

Adhis: heheee do u rily want to know?! Okay, i was tuned to the fason sow on DSTV when i decided to switch to Shupasport3 and Gor Mahia was discombobulatinging somebody at the Kasarani stadium through my obese plasma HDTV. Then the cameraman rolled his camera to the fans. Suddenly, i saw a man among boys with a Gor Mahia jersey written ‘Jamach’ and I said “Lol yawa Lol!” i immediately rang the cameraman, who was my former primary sikulmate and told him to maintain the camera on that man!

Noni: and u omondi?

Omosh: i was watching the Government Of Raila(GOR) manipulating its long arm at Kasarani wen a cameraman told me that i was preventing viewers at home from watching the game, and that i sud reduce the volume of my t-sat which was souting. I sed ‘okay’..so technically speaking we met on DSTV!

Noni: how did he propose adhiambo?

Adhiambo: hehe we were in his prado, then he stopped the machine infront of Hilton. He requested me out and said “bebi, look at the sky. Do you see those stars?(i said yes) i want to take you to a combination of five of them called Hilton! but first, put this star on your finger and copypaste my surname onto your nomenclature. I said “why not yawa?!”

Anyway fam, this is all in jest. Nothing serious…

These Songs Were Kenya’s Biggest This Year!

These three songs were 2012’s game changers by any estimates including my humble one.

“You guy (Dat dendai)” by P-Unit and Collo

Why? Well the term you guy has been around for quite a while. Tapeli even did a track called “You guy” a while back but needless to say that it didn’t have quite the impact these lads’ track did.
And i have been calling lasses dendes since late 2010 so i know the term has been around for quite the minute but how these lads made it a mainstay in urban lingo.
These days lasses are officially referred to with the term “dendai”, “you guy” has become a greeting and a term of endearment amongst other uses and “a good one” has become a term used to denote how well something can, has or will be done.
P-Unit and Collo have permeated urban culture with this track.

“Hold It Down” by Camp Mulla
No one this year has changed Kenya’s urban pop culture quite like Camp Mulla has. These guys didn’t just influence urban lingo, they influenced Kenya’s urban pop culture through their sense of fashion and cockiness and partriotism.
These days everyone wants to rep +254 and all teir songs are about representing Nairobi. Everyone is trying to dress like Camp Mulla and talk like them. Younguns who still haven’t developed their own steez are swagger jacking. They dress like, talk like and act like Camp Mulla.
Camp Mulla permeated urban culture the most with the track “Hold It Down” though.

“Toklezea” by Shantelle and Abass
This track introduced Kenyans to a new word “toklezea”. Everything became about “toklezea-ing”. Everyone i’d talk to would use it to describe my clothes, their phones and whatnot. They’d tell me to toklezea and pick them up for a party and other things that didn’t make sense to me.
I just hope Shantelle can follow up on this track because it’s sheer magnitude will be hard to duplicate.

“Maswali Za Polisi” by DNA
This lad DNa dropped a bomb shell of a revelation. He would be quiting the Kenyan gospel scene in favour of secular music. He then unleashed this jam which proved to be one of Kenya’s biggest hits this year! I’m sure you’re wondering why he’s in my list?
Well, :Una maswali mingi kwani we ni polisi?”

Top ten Kenyan videos of the year

We, the Ghafla crew, sat down, scrutinized all these worthy videos one by one and ranked them accordingly. These are the hottest videos that have been released this year.

We did not rank them according to the artiste’s popularity, but entirely on quality of production and concept of the videos. Here we go.

10. Octopizzo – Ivo Ivo Ivo

{youtube}Kl2jss27ZL0{/youtube}

When Octopizzo released his first video last year, most of you never imagined that he would ever make it into such a list. Well, he just did and Enos Olik is to thank for this exquisite work.

9. P-Unit – You Guy

{youtube}LKwlFXz6cGk{/youtube}

They just released it this month and it is currently the most talked about video. The hot ladies and crazy Collo acts make this video a must watch.

8. Rabbit – Adisia

{youtube}PzDYqxgSkQU{/youtube}

This guy has made us all proud. From shooting video in the streets of Eastleigh to making it happen in high end hotel suits and Lounge. Adisia just came through like that.

7. Camp Mulla – Party don’t stop

{youtube}awrbsMeL3F8{/youtube}

These guys have made a name for themselves as one of the biggest music groups to ever come from Kenya. With the quality of music and videos they are producing, and the number of Awards that they are being nominated for, there is no doubt about that. When Camp mulla stepped into the Kenyan music industry, they immediately raised the Kenyan video standards.

6. Camp Mulla – Hold it down

{youtube}ObnFVs9piqY{/youtube}

Now do you agree?

5. Cannibal – Legend

{youtube}cRJOrn0my_s{/youtube}

Cannibal attempted to turn the streets of Nairobi into what looked like a riot/war zone in this video and he nailed it. Couldn’t have been done better.

4.Kevin Samuel – Believer

{youtube}TH59HWE0vIw{/youtube}

This could just be the most original and well thought video concept and Ngwatilo gave an awesome performance in it.

3. Provoke and Annete – Imperfections

{youtube}e1O4vUV23UI{/youtube}

This is that type of video that you wouldn’t waste your breath defending and explaining its perfection. It speaks for itself.

2. Sauti Sol – Range Rover

{youtube}RA3YV-4YZHI{/youtube}

Most guys didn’t like this song. Apparently, it wan’t meant for the Kenyan market. But I think we can all agree on the video, right?

1. Prezzo and Cannibal – My city my town

{youtube}pK0_UbP5WjM{/youtube}

Okay, this one right here takes it home. This is the most lavish video that Kenya has ever done. I have talked enough about this in my previous article. So much that I would just be repeating myself. Prezzo and Cannibal collaboration, too hot. Too bad they had to call it quits though.

Kenyan Singer Loses Out at Grammy Ballot. Gets NAACP Image Nomination Alongside K’naan

The US-based Kenyan artiste who went through the first round of voting for the Grammy Awards has missed out on the next round. Meaning the artiste now has no chance of getting a Grammy nomination for the five categories he had entered in: Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best New Artist, Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist, Best Engineered Album (non – classical) and Producer Of The Year.

KG Omulo has, however, scored a nomination at the NAACP Image Awards where he was recognized in the World Music Album category for his latest record, Aya Ye! Moving Train. He will have to fight it out with K’naan’s Country, God or the Girl, Brother B’s Diversionary and Estelle’s Wonderful Life.

KG Omulo started out as a member of the gospel accapela group, Nawez, back in 1997 Winyo. Then he formed KG and The Band after moving to the U.S. He released Aya Ye! Moving Train early this year to critical acclaim even being featured on Washington Post, NPR and the Jazz Journalists Association naming Aya Ye! as the Best Debut CD.

The NAACP Image Awards honors people of color, both individuals and organizations, in the fields of television, music, literature and people who promote social justice through creative endeavours. The awards ceremony will take place on February 1st next year and will be aired on NBC.

Could this be Tanzania’s copy of Camp Mulla? Check out their awesome video featuring a Kenyan rapper

They go by the name of Pah One and currently, they are the artistes who have the Camp Mulla type of swagg back in Tanzania. I wouldn’t compare their music to our camp Mulla though. I think it’s pretty obvious who takes the musical crown here.

But I gotta hand it to these Pah One guys, their swagg and presentation is just off the hook. They recently shot and released the video of their new track titled ‘I wanna get paid’ in which they collaborated with Kenyan rapper, Shrekeezy and the location they chose for it is superb.

Actually, to be completely honest, though this video was just shot in one location, they have outdone most of Kenyan artistes in this category.

Check out their lavish video below.

Quit Complaining. Kenya Had High Profile International Concerts in 2012. Here are the Top 10

In the last couple of years, Kenyans have increasingly complained about the lack of international artistes holding concerts locally. But in the last year, the country has seen an influx of artistes coming in for shows.

There might be complaints about the artistes relevance but most of the artistes who came and who have made this list were at least relevant at some point in their careers. Not forgetting that we still have more performances from Demarco, Jeremih, May D and MIMS still coming up by the end of the year.

10. Incognito

Okay, they’re not that popular locally but the few who know them really like them. And they’ve managed to stay fresh for over 30 years.

9. Lutan Fyah

A list of nine is weird. This is the filler. I don’t know anything about this guy except that the Ghafla! editor, Kone Sekou, has a hard on for him.

8. Jah Cure
Okay, do reggae guys ever become irrelevant at any point in their careers? The music always sounds the same through time anyway. Cure is set to make a return to the country next February in a year that promises to have another star-studded line-up.

7. James Ingram
Ingram is jus about a relic. In an interview with Classic 105’s breakfast presenter, Maina Kageni, he could not even remember some of his songs but you have to admit, the guy is on his way to legend status.

6. Johnny Gill
He might have been heavier than you remember him as a member of the boy band, New Edition and LSG. But when he was big back then, he was huge (musically).

5. Etana
Probably the freshest of all the performers, she only started out in music in the early 2000s and is currently at the peak of her career with the heaviest of her accolades coming in the late 2000s and an album set to come out 2013, a follow-up to her 2011 record.

4. Joe Thomas
Probably one of the most mainstream and recognizable artistes who landed on our shores this year. He has had the biggest success in the most recent times, with seven Grammy nominations in the early 2000s and an album as recent as 2009.

3. Tarrus Riley
One of the most popular in songs in the country right now is Sorry Is A Sorry Word. It might be partly because his performance at Carnivore is still fresh in people’s minds or because he is just one of the most popular dancehall/lovers rock artistes right now.

2. DJ Cleo
Surely, the best event this year, Cleo came to Kenya at the peak of his popularity and he made it worth it with a 2.5-hour set punctuated with the introduction of Teddy Bears, the youngsters that took the night’s honours as the best performers.

1. Erykah Badu
She is the highest profile and most accomplished artiste who performed in Kenya in 2012. Four time Grammy winner from 19 nominations and a total of 16 awards out of 57 throughout her career, she totally proved her worth with a no frills, two-hour performance that can only be rivalled by DJ Cleo’s 2.5-hour frills-filled set at Fahrenheit in June.

Radio Africa’s Top Presenter Marks Four Years of Marriage

Marriage is a good thing and celebrating a wedding anniversary even adds more spice to a couple’s union. Whoa! For a moment I sounded like a marriage counselor. Anyhow, Radio Africa’s Radio Jambo top presenter, Fred Arocho, is today marking four years of marriage.

Arocho is one of the top football commentators in the country. He is informed and equal in knowledge with the Kenyan Premier league as he is with the English Premier League just as his English is as good as his Kiswahili. Arocho tied the knot four years ago and is a happily married. “Its four years today that i said ‘i do’ to a friend, a fan (soccer), a helper, a pillar and mother to my angels. May the Almighty continue blessing our kids, the great love and relationship as a family,” posted the presenter on his Timeline.

Arocho also played for the national youth teams during the East and Central youth championships as well as the under 23 Olympics youth qualifiers in 1995 where he had an opportunity of playing against African soccer stars like Celestine Babayaro, George Finidi, and Jay Jay Okocha.

Ghafla! joins fans and friends of Arocho in congratulating him on his wedding anniversary.

LIST: All the DJs to Perform at the Smirnoff New Year’s All-white Party

The world’s number one vodka, Smirnoff, will this month take Nairobi by storm, as Kenya plans to usher in the New Year. Smirnoff, which has taken its nightlife experience to over 50 markets worldwide through its Smirnoff Nightlife Experiences, will this year host the biggest of all its Kenyan experiences on 31st December at the Carnivore Restaurant.

Dubbed ‘The Night,’ the all-white themed party will for the first time ever in Kenya feature a line-up of 16 DJs playing on three stages, in what promises to be the biggest New Year’s Eve party the capital city has ever seen. Leading the DJ pack will be international DJs Shaun ‘Banger’ Scott from the U.K. and Dino Bravo from South Africa, two of the hottest DJs on the global entertainment scene at the moment.

Here’s a list of the Kenyan DJs joining their international counterparts:

DJ Joe Mfalme
DJ Chukie
DJ Kaydee
DJ Riggz
DJ Klash
DJ Stretch
DJ Jean-Marie
DJ Frakus
DJ Wati
DJ 7
DJ E
DJ Denz
DJ Erik
DJ Cat

This is the first event of this magnitude in almost a decade for Smirnoff in Kenya although the brand continues to enjoy unmatched popularity among the country’s young party-goers, as shown by the crowds present at the Smirnoff Red & White parties held in Naivasha and Nairobi over the last one year.

“This is a great time for Smirnoff to show appreciation to our consumers, and to give back by way of showing them what the Smirnoff Nightlife Experience is all about,” says Kate Katisya, Smirnoff’s Brand Manager in Kenya. “Smirnoff is about extraordinary drinks and extraordinary nights; it’s about enjoying life and having the best night of your life, while remembering that the best nights are the ones you remember.”

With this experience, Smirnoff is promising to up the ante for Nairobi’s revelers on New Year’s Eve, delivering a party experience that is unique to the brand but above all, memorable. Revelers will be required to dress in all-white to represent the purity that Smirnoff vodka is known for the world over.

Says Kate: “We know that young people love a good party, so what we’re promising to deliver is not just a good party, but a great experience. We want to show the world that nobody has a party like Smirnoff and Nairobi combined!”

Organised in conjunction with the Carnivore Restaurant and True Blaq Entertainment the event will also feature a teleporting booth and Smirnoff signature cocktails to celebrate the moment.

“This will not just be another New Year’s Eve party; this will be The Night, so we’re guaranteeing you a night to remember,” says Kevin ‘Big Kev’ Ombajo, CEO and Founder of True Blaq Entertainment. “We’re talking massive sound, good music, bright lights and above all, the Smirnoff Nightlife Experience.”

In line with its support for the responsible drinking campaign, Smirnoff will be maintaining a strict ‘over 18 only’ policy, and has put in place measures to verify age on entry, in addition to providing maximum security to ensure that revelers have a good time in a safe environment.

Tickets are available at all Carnivore outlets at Ksh. 600 for advance tickets. Entrance at the gate will be Ksh. 800.

Beef Season! Ghafla! Responds To Rapcha’s Twitter Beef With Ghafla! And Mbusii

Kedu (hello) Rapcha. You do not know me and we probably will never get to meet. I hope that’s the only reason you chose to call Ghafla! out on twitter and not pick up the phone and simply call us. Because however you chop it, taking beef to twitter is cowardly!

I guess you also have an audience. I don’t care. I only care that you have tried to get us embroiled in your issues with Mbusii.

The last time you attacked Mbusii,you claimed your account had been hacked. I wonder what your excuse will be today. I your dede Chim Obiajulu Tuna said on record that i found your hasty retreat rather comical after Mbusii’s fans rallied and begun firing salvos from every direction and angle. You seem not to have learnt from that. Pity. Messing with Mbusii’s brand could potentially destroy your career.

I won’t address your issues with Mbusih, just the fact that i find it distatseful for you to try and put me in the middle of your beef with Mbusih and the Ghetto Radio family. I seem to recall hearing that you got fired for either getting to work drunk  and passing out -but to be fair, that was just an idle rumour- or for telling an inappropriate joke… Thing is i don’t care. That though seems to be your bone of contention.

You have thrown a bribery allegation my way. *Wipes mud off face* You said Ghafla! gets paid by Maji Maji to “kanyagia” stories about Mbusii… Tell me how that works…. Now keep quiet and listen up, we follow stories based on whether or not they are factual. You sending DMs about what you consider to be Mbusii’s dirty linen doesn’t concern us unless you have proof. As Baba Ghafla! is always pleased to remind each one of us, “Proof or leave dis place!” I have never recieved a cheque signed by anyone other than Baba Ghafla! and neither has anyone on the team and trust, i refuse to let you besmirch his name. Respect the blood, sweat and tears from this man!

Don’t mistake Ghafla!’s congeniality and sunny disposition for weakness. Do not throw rocks at us for cheap publicity. That is wrong. You are a good radio host and comedian, stick to your hassle and you will be just as big as Churchill or even bigger. The publicity stunts are for greenhorns.

And maybe i need to reiterate this: we aren’t an instrument of war! Do not use us to get back at a fellow celebrity. Ghafla! builds, we do not tear down. However, if we have proof of any misdeeds, we will post about it. That is the duality of Ghafla!.

We aren’t Pulse and we do not like being compared to an entity that is bigger than we are. Who can honestly say they enjoy being in a David vs Goliath situation? I do not know what Rapcha was playing at but trying to pit us against Pulse will not work. Not even in the next couple of months when we become the biggest entertainment news source in Kenya. I respect Pulse too much to let that happen.

So Rapcha, calm down off the bile and watch out! Be very afraid of Mbusii’s fans… I hope you’ve learnt from the last time you tried instigating beef with Mbusii! This your fight na long ting and you for better if you chop stone!

Rapcha_2.jpg

“Rapcha: Prove 2 Kenyans hamlipwi andikeni hiyo story @GhaflaKenya”

“Rapcha: You know why @ghaflakenya and @pulsekenya didn’t write about mbusih being kicked out of umoja cos of dissing Rapcha? coz @majimajikenya pays”

Rapcha_3.jpg

“Rapcha: Dis biatch!! RT @kababai2: y are u so rude adjust ur attitude IAMRAPCHA @GhaflaKenya but ala dis doesn’t concern u butt menn unaongea ni kaa unalipwa”

Even next time when you dey vex, keep our name out of it!

AWWW: Here’s Nonini’s Kid Photo

There you have it: Nonini in his pre-teen years. Isn’t it adorable how you can just see the adult him somewhere in that face?(click image to enlarge).

Interesting fact: the man seated next to Nonini is his late brother, whom he dedicated the song ‘Waliotuacha’ to.

 In the spirit of Christmas, come up with some witty phrases to capture what the two people in the photo could be saying, and the person who posts the funniest one will win airtime!

Kalekye Mumo Facebook Imposter Finally Confesses

Kiss 100 presenter, Kalekye Mumo, has had to contend with a Facebook page that has been masquerading as her profile for a while now. It was not a big deal to her before the page started misrepresenting her and posting unwelcome views.

Two weeks ago, she got involved in altercation with the page’s admin that ended with the admin asking Kalekye for cash to hand over the page to her. Up until yesterday, the page had maintained a facade as the official Kalekye Mumo Facebook profile but finally the controller has admitted that the page is indeed not the presenter’s.

The imposter last afternoon posted “DELETING THIS PAGE HATA HAINISAIIDII” after another post saying, “KALEKYE MUMO PAY ME NOW.” Kalekye had earlier refused the admins offer to buy the page.
