Comparison between Kenrazy’s Latest Track and “Tichi”

You remember when Kenrazy released “Tichi” back in 2007 it went on to become a massive tune in the country. He’s back with yet another track, “Kura Burndem” that’s also expected to take the country by storm. So here are the top ten comparisons between the two jams;

#1 Tichi video dropped on 12:12:07; KURA BURNDEM released yesterday, 12:12:12

#2 Tichi dropped on an election year 2007 – 2008; KURA BURNDEM election
year 2012 – 2013

#3 Tichi was done at a new production house then JOMINO; KURA BURNDEM was
done at PACHO ENT [also a rising studio now].

#4 Tichi was KenRazy 5years ago; KURA BURNDEM is KenRazy 5yrs later (hence maturity).

#5 Tichi’s both audio and video were free of charge; KURA BURNDEM audio
cost Sh10000 and video Sh225,000

#6 KenRazy was a freelance artist before signing to Jomino at the time of
Tichi and now KenRazy is back to being a freelance artist after all the hustle from then.

#7 Tichi video had no hype before it dropped; KURA BURNDEM video has been having serious hype from early 2012.

#8 Tichi had one of the best actors like STEVE YURI; in KURA BURNDEM he is the main act.

#9 Tichi was the 1st song on KenRazy’s album “GI-RF KENRAZY” while KURA BURNDEM is the
last song on his album “GI-RF KENRAZY”.

#10 While doing Tichi, KenRazy had not recorded a follow up project which later
came to be “Whoop” but for KURA BURNDEM he has both KURA BURNDEM and the yet to be released SH2QA.

Check out KURA BURNDEM video below;

PHOTO OF THE DAY: Caroline Mutoko When She Was Young, And Perhaps Idle

Caroline Mutoko has been under fire recently for calling young Kenyans on social media ‘average idle people.’ Thanks to Amina, we got our hands on this photo of  Caroline Mutoko herself, posing at the Nairobi University fountain, looking rather young and rather idle. By the way, the photo has been slightly edited:

Mutoko back in the day!

“Seriously, I am done. I regret working with Eric Omondi. If this is what Kibera can do to him…

Eric Omondi, now that you think you are a superstar, I have some good advice for you: Don’t insult or talk ill of DJs, comedians, producers, editors, cameramen, MCs, bands, actors or even actresses. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES SO AROUND.”

We will be getting Eric Omondi’s side of the story, as soon as he picks up our phone call.

Daddy Owen Set ToOrganize And Fund The Inaugural Persons With Disabilities Awards

This year, ‘Mbona’ was arguably Daddy Owen’s coup de grace in matters musical, and it allowed him to introduce and propel singer Denno into not just the limelight but super stardom aswell.

Well, if you thought that was that for the pair, Daddy Owen has decided to launch an award ceremony for exceptional persons living and surmounting physical disabilities. It would seem Deno inspired Daddy Owen to more than just making music which by anyone’s estimates was a hit.

For those of you out of the loop, Daddy Owen runs a trust fund for the handicapped Kenyans dubbed the “Malaika Trust” which will fund this award ceremony whose venue is not yet known.

Meanwhile, Denno has been working on new material and is even set to release an album this weekend at a launch which will feature industry big names like Jimmy Gait, DK Kwenye Beat, Juliani and even BMF who only just released their album this past week.

Maina Kageni’s Position on The Caroline Mutoko Issue

Since Sunday evening, there has been so much frenzy online after Caroline Mutoko’s post that evidently rubbed some guys the wrong way. This prompted her colleague at sister radio station, Classic 105, Maina Kageni to add his voice on the issue. Take a look;

hey… am all for freedom of speech… am all for expressing how one feels in the way they want to….. and I know Caroline Mutoko touched many a raw nerve with her post…. but wishing her dead? I just feel that’s unnecessary…. remember, just as much as we all have our right of expression, so does she…. be as pissed of about it as it may make u… express your disappointment clearly because that is your right…. but wishing ill or death of anyone who has done anything less than harm your mother or jeopardize your future is unfortunate…. we’re all above that….. disagree we may, and sometimes we must, but civil we must remain…. happy evening….

After getting reactions from that post with most guys who commented alleging that Maina was supporting Caroline, he posted the follwing after one hour;

am not supporting the sentiments Caroline Mutoko expressed on her wall…. I just don’t believe it is right to wish death upon anyone…. that’s it…. it’s ok to express dissatisfaction and anger and opposition…. but she has relatives living away seeing these photoshopped “breaking news” banners reportedly on Citizen reporting her death…. she has family who are worried out of their pants….. she has long lost friends who are frantic right now… these people are calling her parents, expressing wrongfully placed condolences…. the consequences are wider and further reaching than we imagine…. hio tu…. it’s ok to vent anger…. just ensure it doesn’t harm those outside your radar….

Nameless Violently Robbed in Dandora

Singer Nameless was over the weekend accosted by a group of rowdy youth from the sprawling Dandora ghetto. According to Iz Vipi, the artiste got a rude welcome to the rough neighbourhood of Dandora, where a group of youth raided his car.

It’s alleged that at the time of the incident, Nameless did not have anything to give out to the rowdy youth. So as he was getting into his car, all the doors and the boot unlocked (thanks to the central-locking system). It’s then that the unruly youth started combing the car for valuables and made away with a pack of alcohol.

Nameless had an iPad, a laptop and other valuables in the car but luckily for him, one of the bouncers at the event rushed to his help and managed to contain the situation. Nameless was in the area for Jimnah Mbaru’s Governorship bid launch on Sunday.

Check out Oksyde’s video trailer for his latest track, ‘Nduru’

Oksyde has been for the longest time behind Kenya’s hip hop scene and it is just about time for him to finally blow up.

This makes sense because lately he has been going hard on his music, realising collaborations and singles and now, he is about to drop his second official solo video.

Keeping it straight hip hop as usual, and with punch lines to knock you out, Oksyde brings us the ‘Nduru’ trailer.

Judging by the trailer that he has just released, I can tell we are in for a good one.

Keep it Ghafla for the official video launch. Meanwhile, check out the trailer below.

Did you watch XYZ Show’s Raila facebook timeline? You can’t miss this hlarious video

This political satire show is by far the funniest I have ever seen. There is no competition for them in this field.

The XYZ Show completely took me over when they did this video. They went all out on the Raila facebook page that they created and took the fans through some minutes of Raila’s facebook visit.

The XYZ crew lets us in on what Raila gets up to as soon as he logs into facebook and all these is extremely funny. You just gotta watch it.

Remember the comedian we all knew as ‘Mshamba’? The guy who knocked on every elevator and left his shoes outside as he walked in only to find them missing on the next floor?

Yeah, he took us through some really hilarious times. He might just be getting back to the screen as he unveiled his latest works, titled ‘Mshamba’s Diary’ on KTN some few days ago.

Mshamba has been working on other projects but now feels like it’s about that time to get back to what he does best, making his fans laugh.

His latest video goes all out on politics, just like the old days but with a little twist.

Kalekye Mumo Imposter Tries Selling Her Fake Facebook Account

This morning, radio presenter Kalekye Mumo voiced her disgust at Kalekye MUMO, the Facebook fanpage that is attracting most of her fans and tarnishing her name while at it.

After explaining her encounters with the account, which she didn’t mind before it started putting out status updates that misrepresented her, whoever is behind the account has approached the Drive and Shaffie Weru co-host with an interesting proposal.

The owner of the imposter account wants to sell it to Kalekye. It seems like a meaty proposal since the MUMO account has over 29,000 followers, about six times more than Kalekye’s real account. Kalekye has decided not to respond to any of the demands.

The new Sauti Sol site is now up and running. Check it out

Sauti Sol have been on their grind, making Kenya proud and taking their music to fans all over the world. We can officially say that these guys are huge. Yap! They are sorta like a big deal. Only a hater would think otherwise.

With a huge fun base like this, you can not go wrong with a website.

Sauti Sol have now just launched their all new and revised website, which contains photo galleries of some of their shows, stories and news about what they’ve been up to and even song and band reviews.

They’ve just raised their game another level and are just getting warmed up.

Visit the site right here and get to know more about this Kenyan band.

Goldie: There is nothing between me and Prezzo (video)

I know this has been going on for a while now and yes, I also agree that it is getting really old pretty fast, but just to put the lead on it, Goldie made it once and for all clear on where she stands with Kenyan superstar, Prezzo.

The two are currently at the peak of their carees and it may seem as though this ‘relationship’ is beginning to be a huge part of it. The two have released singles that are demanding air play like non they’ve ever done before. They are blowing up with hot tracks and realising them simultaneously. Might they be getting the same inspiration and motivation?

Speculations and more speculations. But this is the real deal right here. Goldie came out to deny having any relationship with Prezzo, let alone spending time with him. According to her, there is absolutely nothing going on between them.

Check out the video below.

UK’s Top Deejay Kenyan Tour Backfires

It’s now pretty much obvious now that Kenya is now regaining its image as one of the top destinations in Africa for international acts. The country has so far successfully played host Akon and now that Keri Hilson is on her way here, nothing short of that is expected.

However after it became apparent that Chris Brown will not be performing in the country, yet another top international act will not be performing in Kenya. One of UK’s top deejays, DJ@War is not coming to Kenya as earlier reported in the media. Announcing the sad news on his Facebook timeline, DJ@War regretted that he will not be in the country for the New Year’s show. “My new year’s show in Kenya has fallen through so looks like I’m open for 31 Dec! Late notice but if you need someone to rock drop me a message”, posted the top deejay.

The last time the deejay was in the country, he rocked fans and even did a mix at Homeboyz Radio with G-Money. DJ@War has an unmatched talent when it comes to house music a reputation that has earned his works to be featured in Britain’s largest media house, BBC, as a guest mix.

Kenyan Gay Society To Honour Top Journalists With Award

Let me first start by saying that i have never known that the LGBT community in Kenya holds annual galas that double up as awards events but you live and you learn.

This year is no different and amongst a plethora of categories, the one that caught my eye was the category that seeks to recognise and award journalists for how they have portrayed and tackled issues affecting homosexuals in Kenya.

But it makes sense that this marginalized and often vilified group would seek legitimacy by seeking to be portrayed as humanbeings rather than poofs and dykes.

The nominees for this years edition of the Gay and Lesbian Awards Of Kenya for the SAUTI category (Journalist of the year award for substantial, balanced reporting on LGBTI human rights issues in mainstream media are:

SAUTI – Journalist Of The Year Award for ‘substantial, balanced reporting on LGBTI human rights issues in mainstream media’

    Anne Soi-Mwendia ‘Muffled Killers’- KTN
    Monica Mwangi – The Star
Stella Kasina ‘The Invisible Bridge’- K24
    Joy Wanja –NTV

A great line up of top artistes consisting of MOG, Juliani, Jimmy Gait, Mr. Seed, Bahati, Kevo Yout, Jennie Msanii, Simbo Owade, Willy Paul, Hope Kid HK and DK Kwenye Beat are set to perform at the event.

Kalekye Mumo Has Had Enough of Her Facebook Imposter

Another week, another celebrity imposter. Just last week, Maina Olwenya’s (Nairobi Half Life) Facebook was hacked and used to get money from his friends. Recently, some of the most influential media personalities, Julie Gichuru and Caroline Mutoko, had to warn Internet users about fake profiles of themselves. And now the latest victim is Kiss 100’s Kalekye Mumo.

“I am so fed up of this imposter ‘Kalekye MUMO – journalist’ on FB. When Twitter came I knew that’s where I’d deal with my fans directly. Little did I know some ‘fan’ decided to be me for some reason or other,” she told Ghafla!

Kalekye has now had it. This comes after the account got involved in a highly publicized altercation between Kiss 100 Big Breakfast presenter, Caroline Mutoko.

“Yes, it’s flattering…but when the person is totally misrepresenting you and doesn’t even write or think like you there’s a problem. Recently, I hear fans complaining they sent me airtime and I didn’t call them. Someone else says a man posted his manhood and the fake me laughed it off and yesterday that I run to the aid of my boss Caroline Mutoko on some FB drama.”

Kalekye wants her real fans to be aware of the other account, “I need to clear the air….there is an imposter out there misrepresenting me and until we all report her/him via FB as impersonating a celebrity I won’t be free.”

If you’re looking for Kalekye’s profile, the real one has less fans. Find it here.

Louis Otieno is Back on TV!

Despite going through turbulent moments that crippled his career, renowned TV personality, Louis Otieno has bounced back with a renewed vigour. Yesterday evening, Louis made his way back to TV on KTN with a brand new show called “Newsline” after his fair share of drama.

Art & Beer Festival Postponed

The third edition of the periodical music, food and art extravaganza, Art & Beer Fest has been postponed. The organizers made the announcement through Facebook saying:

“Dear #TeamA&B family, fans and partners. Due to unforeseen but pleasant circumstances that have made us come to the painful decision to postpone the festival not CANCEL so everything stays as is!”

We don’t know what the “pleasant circumstance” that led to the postponement is but it might be something to do with a huge artiste performing. Huge enough to compel the organizers to move the dates, which will be announced soon.

Meanwhile, those who won or booked tickets need not worry about the new developments. Tickets are still valid for whatever new dates are announced.
